may_v appear_v that_o christ_n have_v a_o high_a priest_n as_o well_o as_o the_o father_n who_o see_v not_o that_o it_o be_v very_o absurd_a to_o hold_v that_o the_o person_n of_o christ_n offer_v to_o himself_o wherefore_o the_o priesthood_n of_o christ_n be_v utter_o inconsistent_a with_o the_o divine_a nature_n which_o be_v hold_v to_o be_v in_o he_o chap._n xxix_o the_o nine_o and_o twenty_o argument_n that_o christ_n be_v raise_v up_o by_o the_o father_n the_o six_o argument_n of_o this_o kind_n may_v be_v draw_v from_o the_o place_n wherein_o christ_n be_v say_v to_o have_v of_o other_o man_n after_o he_o be_v dead_a do_v notwithstanding_o perform_v such_o action_n as_o agree_v to_o none_o but_o substance_n that_o be_v actual_o alive_a and_o understand_v by_o themselves_o some_o say_v that_o it_o go_v down_o into_o hell_n or_o purgatory_n and_o bring_v the_o soul_n of_o the_o father_n out_o of_o i_o know_v not_o what_o prison_n or_o limbus_n but_o if_o most_o supreme_a god_n or_o most_o high_a some_o here_o reply_n that_o it_o may_v be_v that_o even_o he_o who_o may_v and_o will_v perform_v something_o by_o himself_o may_v beg_v it_o of_o another_o to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v honour_v he_o in_o this_o behalf_n and_o in_o a_o manner_n leave_v to_o he_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o benefit_n and_o that_o it_o become_v christ_n as_o be_v the_o son_n in_o this_o sort_n to_o honour_v the_o father_n and_o to_o ask_v of_o the_o father_n by_o name_n as_o of_o the_o fountain_n those_o benefit_n which_o proceed_v from_o the_o whole_a trinity_n which_o answer_n first_o take_v not_o away_o the_o difficulty_n for_o they_o who_o thus_o answer_n either_o hold_n that_o some_o prerogative_n agree_v to_o the_o father_n above_o the_o son_n and_o so_o to_o the_o first_o person_n of_o the_o deity_n above_o the_o second_o as_o such_o or_o else_o they_o hold_v it_o not_o if_o they_o hold_v it_o those_o person_n be_v not_o of_o the_o same_o numerical_a essence_n nor_o be_v the_o son_n the_o supreme_a and_o most_o high_a god_n as_o we_o have_v already_o section_n already_o chap._n 1_o 2._o of_o this_o section_n show_v before_o if_o they_o hold_v it_o divinity_n which_o they_o hold_v have_v equal_a honour_n and_o glory_n but_o if_o you_o say_v as_o indeed_o some_o do_v that_o it_o be_v christ_n modesty_n to_o ask_v that_o of_o the_o father_n which_o of_o himself_o he_o can_v either_o assume_v to_o himself_o or_o bestow_v on_o other_o not_o to_o repeat_v those_o thing_n which_o have_v be_v already_o speak_v we_o may_v demand_v to_o which_o nature_n they_o think_v that_o modesty_n be_v to_o be_v ascribe_v if_o to_o the_o humane_a it_o be_v not_o its_o modesty_n but_o judgement_n only_o to_o prefer_v the_o father_n before_o the_o son_n and_o to_o direct_v prayer_n rather_o to_o the_o more_o honourable_a it_o be_v great_a modesty_n to_o make_v a_o address_n to_o the_o inferior_a rather_o than_o to_o the_o superior_a or_o if_o you_o think_v the_o person_n altogether_o equal_a you_o show_v no_o great_a modesty_n if_o you_o betake_v yourself_o and_o convert_v your_o prayer_n to_o one_o than_o to_o the_o other_o if_o they_o ascribe_v this_o modesty_n to_o the_o divine_a nature_n or_o person_n as_o we_o say_v it_o be_v necessary_a if_o this_o person_n be_v divine_a that_o be_v if_o he_o be_v the_o very_a supreme_a god_n they_o be_v very_o absurd_a and_o injurious_a to_o the_o most_o high_a god_n for_o modesty_n be_v a_o virtue_n of_o man_n and_o angel_n not_o of_o the_o most_o high_a god_n it_o be_v i_o say_v a_o hâ—â—â—â—â—_n be_v personal_o unite_v to_o the_o divine_a that_o necessity_n will_v quite_o be_v eâ—â—â—â—â—â—ed_v especial_o in_o thing_n pertain_v to_o christ_n himself_o wherein_o notwithstanding_o can_v not_o choose_v but_o perform_v it_o do_v we_o think_v that_o the_o humane_a nature_n of_o christ_n be_v afraid_a lest_o that_o personal_a union_n shall_v be_v dissolve_v but_o the_o adversary_n do_v not_o so_o much_o as_o permit_v any_o one_o to_o doubt_v of_o that_o so_o far_o be_v they_o from_o believe_v that_o such_o a_o thing_n can_v come_v into_o the_o mind_n of_o christ_n humane_a nature_n or_o of_o the_o man_n christ_n or_o can_v it_o perhaps_o fear_n lest_o then_o the_o union_n remain_v entire_a yet_o notwithstanding_o may_v perpetual_o abide_v in_o death_n and_o so_o the_o
