any_o profit_n by_o read_v of_o it_o three_o thing_n you_o must_v do_v in_o any_o wise_a first_o when_o you_o shall_v read_v this_o meditation_n devise_n in_o your_o mind_n as_o nigh_o as_o you_o can_v all_o the_o condition_n of_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n sudden_o take_v and_o ravish_v by_o death_n and_o thynke●_n with_o yourself_o that_o you_o be_v in_o the_o same_o condition_n so_o hasty_o take_v and_o that_o incontinent_a you_o must_v needs_o die_v and_o your_o soul_n depart_v hence_o &_o leave_v your_o mortal_a body_n never_o to_o return_v again_o for_o to_o make_v any_o amends_n or_o to_o do_v any_o release_n to_o your_o soul_n after_o this_o hour_n secon_o that_o you_o never_o read_v this_o meditation_n but_o alone_o by_o yourself_o in_o secret_a manner_n where_o you_o may_v be_v most_o attentive_a thereunto_o and_o when_o you_o have_v the_o best_a leisure_n without_o any_o let_v of_o other_o thought_n or_o business_n for_o if_o you_o otherwise_o behave_v yourself_o in_o the_o read_n of_o it_o it_o shall_v anon_o lose_v the_o virtue_n and_o quickness_n in_o stir_v and_o move_v of_o your_o soul_n when_o you_o will_v rather_o have_v it_o stir_v three_o that_o when_o you_o intend_v to_o read_v it_o you_o must_v afore_o lift_v up_o your_o mind_n to_o almighty_a god_n and_o beseech_v he_o that_o by_o the_o help_n and_o succour_v of_o his_o grace_n the_o read_v thereof_o may_v fruitful_o work_v in_o your_o soul_n a_o good_a and_o virtuous_a life_n according_a to_o his_o pleasure_n and_o say_v deus_fw-la in_o adiutorium_fw-la meum_fw-la intend_v domine_fw-la adiuvandum_fw-la i_o festina_fw-la gloria_fw-la patri_fw-la etc_n etc_n laus_fw-la tibi_fw-la domine_fw-la rex_fw-la eternae_fw-la glory_n amen_n alas_o alas_o i_o be_o unworthy_o take_v all_o sudden_o death_n have_v assail_v i_o the_o pain_n of_o his_o stroke_n be_v so_o sore_a and_o grievous_a that_o i_o may_v not_o long_o endure_v they_o my_o last_o home_n i_o perceive_v well_o be_v come_v i_o must_v now_o leave_v this_o mortal_a body_n i_o must_v now_o depart_v hence_o out_o of_o this_o world_n never_o to_o return_v again_o into_o it_o but_o whether_o i_o shall_v go_v or_o where_o i_o shall_v become_v or_o what_o lodging_n i_o shall_v have_v this_o night_n or_o in_o what_o company_n i_o shall_v fall_v or_o in_o what_o country_n i_o shall_v be_v receive_v or_o in_o what_o manner_n i_o shall_v be_v entreat_v god_n know_v for_o i_o know_v not_o what_o if_o i_o shall_v be_v damn_a in_o the_o perpetual_a prison_n of_o hell_n where_o be_v pain_n endless_a and_o without_o number_n gréevous_a it_o shall_v be_v to_o they_o that_o be_v damn_a for_o ever_o for_o they_o shall_v be_v as_o man_n in_o most_o extreme_a pain_n of_o death_n ever_o wish_v and_o desire_v death_n and_o yet_o never_o shall_v they_o die_v it_o shall_v be_v now_o unto_o i_o much_o weary_a one_o year_n continual_o to_o lie_v upon_o a_o bed_n be_v it_o never_o so_o soft_a how_o weary_a then_o shall_v it_o be_v to_o lie_v in_o the_o most_o painful_a fire_n so_o many_o thousand_o of_o year_n without_o number_n and_o to_o be_v in_o that_o most_o horrible_a company_n of_o devil_n most_o terrible_a to_o behold_v full_a of_o malice_n and_o cruelty_n oh_o wretched_a and_o miserable_a creature_n that_o i_o be_o i_o may_v so_o have_v live_v and_o so_o order_v my_o life_n by_o the_o help_n and_o grace_n of_o my_o lord_n christ_n jesus_n that_o this_o hour_n may_v have_v be_v unto_o i_o much_o joyous_a &_o great_o desire_v many_o bless_v &_o holy_a saint_n be_v full_a joyous_a and_o desirous_a of_o this_o hour_n for_o they_o know_v well_o that_o by_o death_n their_o soul_n shall_v be_v translate_v into_o a_o new_a life_n to_o the_o life_n of_o all_o joy_n and_o endless_a pleasure_n from_o the_o straight_n and_o bondage_n of_o this_o corruptible_a body_n into_o a_o very_a liberty_n and_o true_a freedom_n among_o the_o company_n of_o heaven_n from_o the_o misery_n &_o gréevamce_n of_o this_o wretched_a world_n to_o be_v above_o with_o god_n in_o comfort_n inestimable_a that_o can_v not_o be_v speak_v ne_o think_v they_o be_v assure_v of_o the_o promise_n of_o almighty_a god_n which_o have_v so_o promise_v to_o all_o they_o that_o be_v his_o faithful_a servant_n and_o sure_o i_o be_o that_o if_o i_o have_v true_o &_o faithful_o serve_v he_o unto_o this_o hour_n my_o soul_n have_v be_v partner_n of_o these_o promise_n but_o unhappy_a &_o ungracious_a creature_n that_o i_o be_o i_o have_v be_v negligent_a in_o his_o service_n and_o therefore_o now_o my_o heart_n do_v waste_v in_o sorrow_n see_v the_o nighness_n of_o death_n and_o consider_v my_o great_a sloth_n &_o negligence_n i_o think_v full_a little_a thus_o sudden_o to_o have_v be_v trap_v but_o alas_o now_o death_n have_v prevent_v i_o and_o have_v unwary_o attach_v i_o &_o sudden_o oppress_v i_o with_o his_o mighty_a power_n so_o that_o i_o know_v not_o whither_o i_o may_v turn_v i_o for_o succour_n nor_o where_o i_o may_v seek_v now_o for_o help_n ne_o what_o thing_n i_o may_v do_v to_o get_v any_o remedy_n if_o i_o may_v have_v leisure_n and_o space_n to_o repent_v i_o and_o amend_v my_o life_n not_o compel_v with_o this_o sudden_a stroke_n but_o of_o my_o own_o free_a will_n and_o liberty_n and_o partly_o for_o the_o love_n of_o god_n put_v aside_o all_o sloth_n &_o negligence_n i_o may_v then_o safe_o die_v without_o any_o dread_n i_o may_v then_o be_v glad_a to_o depart_v hence_o and_o leave_v my_o manifold_a misery_n &_o encombraunce_n of_o this_o world_n but_o how_o may_v i_o think_v that_o my_o repentance_n or_o my_o amendment_n come_v now_o of_o my_o own_o free_a will_n sith_o i_o be_v before_o this_o stroke_n so_o cold_a and_o dull_a in_o the_o service_n of_o my_o lord_n god_n or_o how_o may_v i_o think_v that_o i_o do_v this_o more_o rather_o for_o his_o love_n then_o for_o fear_n of_o his_o punishment_n when_o if_o i_o have_v true_o love_v he_o i_o shall_v more_o quick_o and_o more_o diligent_o have_v serve_v he_o heretofore_o i_o seem_v now_o that_o i_o cast_v away_o my_o sloth_n and_o negligence_n compel_v by_o force_n even_o as_o a_o merchant_n that_o be_v compel_v by_o a_o great_a tempest_n in_o the_o sea_n to_o cast_v his_o merchandise_n out_o of_o the_o ship_n it_o be_v not_o to_o be_v suppose_v that_o he_o will_v cast_v away_o his_o riches_n of_o his_o own_o free_a will_n not_o compel_v by_o the_o storm_n and_o even_o so_o likewise_o do_v i_o if_o this_o tempest_n of_o death_n be_v not_o now_o raise_v upon_o i_o it_o be_v full_a like_o that_o i_o will_v not_o have_v cast_v from_o i_o my_o sloth_n and_o negligence_n oh_o will_v to_o god_n that_o i_o may_v now_o have_v some_o far_a respite_n and_o some_o long_a time_n to_o amend_v myself_o of_o my_o free_a will_n and_o liberty_n oh_o if_o i_o may_v entreat_v death_n to_o spare_v i_o for_o a_o season_n but_o that_o will_v not_o be_v death_n
