take_v not_o away_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v show_v we_o out_o of_o other_o place_n neither_o do_v it_o derogate_v from_o this_o point_n that_o the_o death_n and_o passion_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n have_v serve_v to_o no_o purpose_n for_o the_o blot_n out_o of_o the_o iniquity_n of_o the_o world_n without_o he_o have_v obey_v yea_o even_o to_o the_o submit_v of_o himself_o unto_o so_o terrible_a a_o death_n neither_o obey_v he_o as_o i_o have_v before_o say_v like_o one_o that_o be_v without_o feel_v &_o understand_v for_o although_o he_o be_v to_o abide_v marvelous_a terrible_a great_a desire_n for_o many_o thing_n shall_v come_v to_o pass_v which_o shall_v touch_v we_o no_o whit_n and_o we_o overslip_v they_o yea_o and_o although_o they_o be_v for_o our_o commodity_n yet_o be_v not_o for_o we_o to_o say_v that_o we_o altogether_o rest_v in_o they_o and_o a_o man_n may_v have_v a_o great_a number_n of_o thing_n and_o yet_o not_o be_v content_v for_o it_o be_v possible_a that_o he_o have_v not_o the_o principal_a or_o else_o that_o he_o have_v not_o the_o whole_a but_o the_o prophet_n show_v that_o the_o son_n of_o god_n shall_v be_v thorough_o satisfy_v never_o respect_v himself_o when_o as_o he_o shall_v see_v that_o he_o have_v get_v unto_o he_o his_o church_n and_o that_o poor_a sinner_n shall_v be_v deliver_v from_o the_o curse_n wherein_o they_o be_v and_o so_o be_v reconcile_v unto_o god_n for_o the_o obtain_n of_o the_o heavenly_a inheritance_n to_o be_v short_a we_o see_v here_o that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n never_o respect_v his_o own_o person_n but_o be_v ravish_v with_o the_o love_n of_o we_o wherein_o he_o seek_v his_o whole_a contentment_n and_o felicity_n as_o if_o that_o have_v be_v his_o only_a desire_n love_n and_o care_n now_o we_o have_v again_o here_o to_o note_v that_o if_o so_o be_v we_o look_v for_o the_o benefit_n which_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n purchase_v for_o we_o by_o faith_n which_o be_v daily_o offer_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o gospel_n we_o shall_v never_o be_v void_a of_o our_o hope_n for_o the_o prophet_n say_v that_o he_o shall_v see_v by_o which_o he_o express_v that_o god_n do_v not_o only_o mean_a to_o show_v his_o mercy_n unto_o we_o in_o the_o person_n of_o his_o son_n when_o as_o he_o deliver_v he_o to_o death_n but_o will_v bring_v it_o also_o to_o pass_v by_o his_o holy_a spirit_n that_o this_o his_o death_n shall_v not_o be_v fruitless_a and_o that_o many_o shall_v see_v &_o find_v by_o experience_n that_o it_o be_v not_o in_o vain_a nor_o for_o naught_o that_o he_o suffer_v so_o great_a torment_n and_o therefore_o let_v we_o embrace_v our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n to_o the_o end_n we_o draw_v near_o unto_o he_o by_o faith_n may_v be_v make_v partaker_n of_o the_o fruit_n of_o his_o death_n &_o passion_n and_o let_v we_o be_v assure_v that_o whensoever_o we_o shall_v at_o any_o time_n estrange_v our_o heart_n from_o he_o that_o god_n will_v not_o add_v this_o benefit_n with_o place_n as_o for_o the_o second_o point_n which_o be_v propound_v it_o be_v here_o show_v that_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v not_o only_o be_v beat_v scourge_v and_o afflict_v by_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n his_o father_n that_o he_o may_v bear_v the_o chastisement_n which_o we_o be_v worthy_a of_o but_o that_o his_o soul_n also_o shall_v be_v grieve_v and_o vex_v it_o be_v not_o here_o say_v that_o he_o shall_v see_v the_o fruit_n of_o his_o stripe_n affliction_n and_o death_n as_o the_o prophet_n have_v before_o say_v but_o also_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o travail_n and_o grief_n of_o his_o soul_n for_o the_o word_n which_o he_o use_v import_v as_o much_o and_o therefore_o he_o mean_v to_o express_v that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v not_o only_o crucify_v after_o he_o have_v abode_n suffer_v &_o in_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o world_n for_o if_o he_o have_v suffer_v but_o in_o body_n he_o shall_v then_o have_v be_v a_o redeemer_n of_o body_n only_o but_o because_o the_o principal_a matter_n why_o we_o shall_v believe_v in_o he_o be_v that_o we_o may_v feel_v and_o be_v full_o persuade_v that_o death_n shall_v be_v no_o more_o deadly_a unto_o we_o and_o that_o we_o be_v free_v from_o the_o curse_n of_o god_n it_o be_v meet_v that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n shall_v feel_v these_o point_n in_o himself_o &_o so_o come_v before_o god_n may_v be_v as_o a_o wretched_a malefactor_n before_o his_o judge_n for_o we_o know_v that_o the_o sin_n of_o man_n bring_v not_o with_o it_o a_o temporal_a death_n only_o but_o also_o a_o feel_v of_o the_o enmity_n of_o god_n and_o of_o his_o horrible_a judgement_n against_o us._n and_o what_o be_v that_o forsooth_o the_o most_o insupportable_a and_o terrible_a thing_n that_o possible_o may_v be_v and_o therefore_o it_o be_v meet_v that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n shall_v be_v drive_v thereto_o for_o our_o deliverance_n and_o this_o be_v it_o which_o the_o prophet_n at_o this_o present_a declare_v unto_o us._n and_o here_o we_o see_v a_o great_a deal_n the_o better_a how_o god_n have_v love_v we_o and_o what_o the_o infinite_a treasure_n of_o his_o grace_n and_o goodness_n be_v which_o he_o have_v pour_v out_o upon_o us._n moreover_o we_o may_v also_o very_a well_o understande_v what_o care_n and_o zeal_n our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n have_v over_o our_o salvation_n when_o as_o he_o force_v not_o to_o make_v his_o own_o body_n answer_v the_o satisfaction_n of_o our_o sin_n but_o also_o to_o bring_v himself_o into_o such_o a_o horrible_a fear_n as_o one_o that_o shall_v feel_v the_o judgement_n of_o god_n who_o lay_v hold_v on_o he_o as_o upon_o he_o who_o have_v deserve_v the_o curse_n which_o god_n have_v pronounce_v from_o his_o own_o mouth_n to_o wit_n that_o it_o be_v the_o very_a thing_n to_o swallow_v we_o up_o into_o hell_n and_o a_o gulf_n utter_o to_o destroy_v us._n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v meet_v that_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v feel_v all_o this_o now_o to_o say_v the_o truth_n when_o we_o see_v that_o he_o have_v thereby_o sweat_v water_n and_o blood_n 22.3_o luk._n 22.3_o and_o that_o the_o angel_n come_v down_o to_o comfort_v he_o this_o can_v not_o choose_v but_o be_v a_o wonderful_a extreme_a sorrow_n and_o grief_n see_v the_o like_a example_n have_v never_o be_v see_v all_o the_o world_n over_o thus_o we_o see_v the_o meaning_n of_o these_o word_n of_o the_o travail_n or_o grief_n of_o the_o soul_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n now_o it_o be_v true_a as_o saint_n peter_n say_v that_o the_o sorrow_n of_o hell_n can_v not_o hold_v he_o under_o howbeit_o it_o be_v meet_v he_o shall_v strive_v with_o they_o 2.24_o act._n 2.24_o and_o in_o the_o end_n he_o have_v the_o victory_n over_o they_o but_o it_o be_v not_o without_o great_a and_o painful_a fight_n moreover_o we_o be_v present_o to_o gather_v out_o of_o this_o place_n that_o although_o we_o must_v die_v we_o must_v

his_o people_n this_o be_v a_o confirmation_n of_o that_o which_o we_o late_o handle_v to_o wit_n that_o the_o age_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n shall_v not_o serve_v for_o himself_o alone_o but_o also_o for_o the_o whole_a body_n of_o his_o church_n whereunto_o he_o be_v unite_v and_o bind_v as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o inseparable_a bond_n for_o the_o prophet_n show_v that_o without_o it_o it_o may_v be_v say_v that_o the_o death_n and_o passion_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n shall_v be_v unprofitable_a now_o this_o be_v a_o blasphemy_n not_o to_o be_v bear_v to_o think_v that_o shall_v well_o understand_v for_o what_o end_n &_o purpose_v our_o lord_n jesus_n be_v thus_o scourge_v &_o beat_v and_o this_o come_v not_o by_o fortune_n as_o have_v be_v before_o declare_v nether_a he_o even_o from_o his_o childhood_n to_o commit_v so_o notable_a a_o charge_n unto_o he_o as_o to_o be_v the_o leader_n of_o his_o people_n and_o yet_o desire_v to_o be_v raze_v and_o cut_v of_o from_o god_n and_o whither_o then_o be_v this_o go_v now_o a_o man_n may_v make_v many_o argument_n but_o the_o solution_n be_v easy_a for_o moses_n have_v so_o fervent_a a_o zeal_n for_o the_o salvation_n of_o the_o people_n and_o see_v beside_o the_o horrible_a threat_n which_o god_n have_v pronounce_v by_o his_o own_o mouth_n forget_v himself_o for_o a_o minute_n of_o time_n and_o desire_v nothing_o else_o but_o the_o help_n of_o the_o people_n let_v we_o then_o see_v how_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n behave_v himself_o for_o if_o it_o be_v meet_v that_o he_o shall_v suffer_v a_o hundred_o death_n yea_o a_o myllion_n without_o doubt_n he_o be_v prepare_v for_o that_o purpose_n before_o howbeit_o such_o be_v his_o will_n not_o for_o himself_o but_o for_o we_o to_o abide_v be_v say_v to_o be_v altogether_o righteous_a the_o lamb_n without_o spot_n and_o the_o very_a rule_n and_o glass_n of_o all_o righteousness_n holiness_n and_o perfection_n can_v will_n contrary_a to_o god_n his_o will_n this_o be_v the_o answer_n that_o god_n be_v the_o whole_a perfection_n of_o righteousness_n and_o judgement_n for_o although_o the_o angel_n be_v conformable_a to_o the_o yet_o without_o doubt_n his_o affection_n shall_v come_v nothing_o nigh_o unto_o god_n and_o yet_o not_o be_v corrupt_a as_o if_o adam_n be_v not_o thus_o pervert_v as_o he_o be_v but_o have_v continue_v in_o the_o same_o estate_n wherein_o he_o be_v create_v yet_o have_v he_o abide_v heat_n and_o cold_a and_o may_v have_v suffer_v care_n and_o fear_n and_o such_o other_o like_a and_o such_o a_o one_o we_o see_v be_v our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n for_o we_o know_v that_o his_o affection_n be_v without_o spot_n or_o blot_n and_o they_o all_o be_v square_v unto_o the_o obedience_n of_o god_n but_o yet_o because_o he_o have_v take_v our_o nature_n upon_o he_o he_o be_v subject_a to_o fear_v and_o to_o this_o terror_n whereof_o we_o even_o now_o speak_v and_o unto_o care_n and_o such_o like_a we_o can_v see_v this_o in_o we_o no_o more_o then_o in_o pud_o water_v a_o man_n can_v judge_v of_o anything_o and_o thus_o we_o see_v how_o these_o earthly_a affection_n cause_v we_o to_o float_v from_o one_o side_n to_o a_o other_o and_o so_o toss_v we_o as_o that_o god_n have_v need_n to_o uphold_v we_o but_o the_o affection_n which_o we_o that_o be_v descend_v of_o adam_n have_v be_v like_a unto_o clay_n exceed_o temper_v with_o infection_n so_o that_o we_o can_v see_v what_o this_o passion_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n be_v if_o we_o measure_v it_o as_o we_o be_v man_n for_o when_o we_o do_v any_o thing_n to_o a_o good_a end_n &_o our_o affection_n of_o itself_o be_v just_a and_o allow_v of_o god_n yet_o shall_v we_o continual_o fail_v therein_o for_o be_v not_o this_o a_o good_a and_o holy_a thing_n for_o a_o father_n to_o love_v his_o chilren_n and_o yet_o for_o all_o that_o this_o be_v sin_n in_o we_o because_o there_o be_v not_o that_o order_n and_o moderation_n that_o be_v require_v in_o the_o same_o for_o amongst_o all_o the_o virtue_n which_o we_o may_v have_v god_n make_v we_o to_o see_v that_o there_o be_v vice_n in_o they_o to_o the_o end_n our_o pride_n may_v the_o better_o be_v abate_v and_o we_o may_v always_o have_v occasion_n to_o cast_v down_o our_o head_n and_o be_v ashamed_a see_v our_o very_a goodness_n be_v corrupt_v through_o sin_n which_o dwell_v in_o we_o and_o wherewith_o we_o be_v fill_v and_o full_a fraught_n moreover_o as_o for_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v it_o be_v not_o for_o we_o to_o meruel_a forasmuch_o as_o he_o be_v man_n although_o his_o will_n differ_v from_o the_o will_n of_o god_n his_o father_n but_o yet_o we_o must_v not_o hereby_o judge_v that_o there_o be_v any_o sin_n and_o transgression_n in_o he_o and_o as_o we_o have_v before_o say_v we_o herein_o especial_o see_v the_o inestimable_a love_n he_o bear_v we_o whenas_o he_o so_o great_o fear_v death_n that_o yet_o of_o his_o own_o good_a will_v he_o submit_v himself_o thereto_o and_o beside_o when_o as_o he_o neither_o withstand_v it_o nor_o yet_o gainsay_v the_o sup_v up_o of_o this_o drink_n wherein_o he_o feel_v no_o bitterness_n what_o a_o thing_n be_v this_o for_o we_o to_o be_v in_o this_o manner_n redeem_v howbeit_o this_o may_v seem_v to_o be_v a_o merry_a jest_n nevertheless_o when_o it_o so_o fall_v out_o that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n have_v endure_v such_o anguish_n it_o be_v a_o sign_n that_o he_o so_o love_v we_o as_o that_o he_o forget_v himself_o and_o suffer_v the_o whole_a tempest_n to_o light_v upon_o his_o own_o head_n that_o we_o may_v be_v deliver_v from_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n now_o there_o remain_v for_o we_o to_o note_v when_o the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v after_o this_o manner_n torment_v that_o it_o be_v not_o because_o he_o be_v to_o depart_v out_o of_o this_o life_n for_o if_o there_o have_v be_v none_o other_o thing_n but_o the_o separation_n of_o the_o soul_n from_o the_o body_n together_o with_o the_o torment_n which_o he_o be_v to_o suffer_v in_o his_o body_n this_o have_v be_v no_o such_o affliction_n but_o let_v we_o consider_v of_o the_o quality_n of_o his_o death_n and_o let_v we_o chief_o come_v to_o the_o original_n thereof_o for_o death_n do_v not_o only_o dissolve_v the_o man_n but_o make_v he_o also_o to_o feel_v the_o curse_n of_o god_n for_o over_o and_o beside_o that_o that_o god_n take_v we_o out_o of_o his_o world_n and_o that_o we_o leave_v this_o present_a life_n death_n be_v unto_o we_o a_o entrance_n as_o it_o be_v into_o the_o gulf_n of_o hell_n and_o therefore_o when_o we_o hear_v death_n speak_v of_o we_o must_v needs_o be_v separate_v from_o god_n and_o cut_v off_o from_o this_o matter_n more_o distinct_o for_o he_o say_v that_o jesus_n christ_n know_v that_o all_o thing_n be_v end_v say_v that_o he_o be_v dry_a and_o thereupon_o say_v again_o it_o be_v finish_v we_o see_v then_o what_o be_v here_o for_o we_o to_o note_v when_o this_o drink_n be_v give_v to_o the_o son_n of_o god_n to_o wit_n that_o he_o desire_v not_o to_o drink_v because_o he_o be_v dry_a for_o he_o refuse_v it_o as_o we_o have_v heretofore_o see_v and_o why_o do_v he_o so_o because_o forsooth_o this_o drink_n be_v give_v he_o to_o shorten_v his_o life_n now_o our_o lord_n jesus_n meaning_n be_v altogether_o patient_o and_o quiet_o to_o wait_v upon_o the_o leisure_n of_o god_n his_o father_n thus_o we_o see_v what_o the_o cause_n be_v why_o he_o will_v not_o hasten_v his_o death_n but_o hold_v himself_o quiet_a and_o obedient_a untyll_o such_o time_n as_o all_o be_v finish_v although_o he_o have_v not_o as_o yet_o yield_v up_o the_o ghost_n nor_o be_v rise_v again_o for_o the_o meaning_n be_v that_o he_o have_v show_v his_o full_a obedience_n hitherto_o so_o that_o there_o be_v no_o let_n why_o he_o may_v not_o now_o render_v up_o his_o soul_n unto_o god_n his_o father_n here_o we_o then_o see_v how_o this_o place_n be_v to_o be_v understand_v which_o be_v this_o that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n declare_v that_o there_o want_v nothing_o to_o the_o finish_n of_o our_o redemption_n save_v his_o departure_n out_o of_o the_o world_n which_o he_o be_v very_o ready_a to_o do_v and_o to_o yield_v his_o soul_n unto_o god_n wherefore_o when_o he_o see_v that_o he_o have_v discharge_v the_o office_n of_o the_o mediator_n and_o have_v do_v whatsoever_o be_v requisite_a for_o the_o appease_n of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n for_o our_o sake_n and_o satisfy_v for_o our_o sin_n he_o determine_v to_o call_v for_o this_o drink_n and_o here_o be_v a_o most_o notable_a and_o excellent_a say_n all_o be_v finish_v for_o this_o be_v certain_a that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n speak_v not_o of_o any_o trifle_a or_o ordinary_a thing_n but_o he_o mean_v that_o in_o his_o death_n we_o have_v all_o whatsoever_o that_o be_v to_o be_v have_v for_o our_o come_n unto_o god_n and_o the_o obtain_v of_o his_o grace_n not_o that_o his_o resurrection_n be_v hereby_o take_v away_o but_o it_o be_v as_o much_o as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v that_o he_o have_v faithful_o do_v his_o duty_n and_o come_v not_o like_o a_o half_a saviour_n but_o perform_v the_o charge_n commit_v unto_o he_o even_o to_o the_o uttermost_a leave_v nothing_o of_o his_o father_n will_n unfulfil_v and_o since_o it_o be_v so_o we_o be_v teach_v to_o put_v our_o trust_n full_o and_o whole_o in_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n because_o we_o know_v that_o every_o part_n and_o parcel_n of_o our_o salvation_n be_v and_o choose_a child_n of_o god_n be_v sanctify_v will_v we_o then_o be_v thorough_o assure_v that_o god_n be_v our_o father_n will_v we_o have_v free_a liberty_n to_o call_v upon_o he_o will_v we_o sin_n and_o iniquity_n since_o they_o so_o provoke_v the_o heavy_a wrath_n of_o god_n against_o us._n thus_o we_o see_v why_o it_o be_v requisite_a that_o our_o whole_a correction_n of_o peace_n shall_v be_v lay_v upon_o jesus_n christ_n to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v find_v favour_n before_o god_n his_o father_n that_o be_v to_o say_v that_o we_o may_v be_v at_o such_o a_o league_n with_o he_o as_o that_o we_o may_v at_o this_o day_n be_v bold_a and_o free_a to_o call_v upon_o god_n as_o our_o father_n although_o of_o very_a right_n he_o be_v our_o enemy_n and_o hate_v we_o as_o we_o be_v in_o our_o own_o nature_n we_o see_v then_o at_o this_o present_a what_o the_o prophet_n his_o meaning_n be_v when_o he_o say_v that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n be_v afflict_v by_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n disfigure_v and_o forsake_v of_o all_o man_n and_o that_o no_o man_n once_o vouchsafe_v to_o look_v upon_o he_o by_o reason_n of_o his_o merueylous_a deformity_n howbeit_o he_o say_v that_o it_o be_v because_o god_n have_v kindle_v his_o wrath_n against_o we_o and_o be_v arm_v and_o bend_v to_o confound_v and_o throw_v we_o down_o headlong_o into_o the_o pit_n of_o hell_n until_o such_o time_n as_o that_o atonement_n be_v make_v and_o which_o way_n come_v it_o to_o pass_v forsooth_o god_n of_o his_o mere_a mercy_n and_o goodness_n free_o forgive_v we_o our_o sin_n howbeit_o the_o price_n of_o our_o redemption_n be_v in_o the_o person_n of_o his_o only_a son_n now_o we_o have_v here_o to_o note_v that_o by_o reason_n of_o the_o condemnation_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n we_o be_v pardon_v and_o all_o our_o sin_n bury_v &_o shall_v never_o again_o rise_v up_o against_o we_o before_o the_o majesty_n of_o god_n when_o we_o speak_v of_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o our_o sin_n it_o be_v not_o speak_v as_o though_o god_n have_v so_o discharge_v we_o as_o if_o we_o have_v thorough_o content_v &_o pay_v he_o but_o we_o be_v acquit_v by_o his_o mere_a liberality_n and_o although_o we_o be_v guilty_a before_o he_o yet_o forget_v he_o all_o &_o receive_v we_o to_o mercy_n 7.19_o mat._n 7.19_o because_o as_o the_o prophet_n say_v he_o cast_v our_o sin_n into_o the_o bottom_n of_o the_o sea_n but_o by_o the_o way_n we_o have_v also_o here_o to_o note_v that_o this_o be_v no_o free_a forgiveness_n unto_o the_o person_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n for_o it_o cost_v he_o the_o set_n on_o as_o we_o say_v now_o if_o we_o consider_v what_o a_o grievous_a cruel_a &_o slanderous_a death_n this_o be_v which_o he_o abide_v &_o beside_o what_o anguish_v his_o soul_n endure_v when_o he_o be_v call_v before_o the_o judgement_n seat_n of_o god_n his_o father_n to_o abide_v our_o condemnation_n if_o we_o consider_v well_o of_o all_o this_o gear_n i_o say_v we_o shall_v find_v that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n have_v make_v a_o wonderful_a payment_n for_o the_o discharge_n of_o our_o sin_n loe_o here_o how_o we_o at_o this_o day_n be_v free_v of_o they_o and_o héerof_o we_o be_v thorough_o to_o consider_v for_o the_o devil_n have_v continual_o go_v about_o to_o darken_v this_o doctrine_n because_o it_o be_v the_o chief_a article_n of_o our_o faith_n in_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o world_n god_n will_v have_v sacrifice_n offer_v unto_o he_o for_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n and_o why_o be_v that_o forsooth_o it_o be_v to_o this_o end_n and_o purpose_n that_o man_n shall_v not_o trust_v unto_o he_o but_o by_o the_o mean_a of_o a_o sacrifice_n and_o the_o shed_n of_o blood_n and_o therefore_o they_o all_o protest_v in_o their_o sacrifice_n that_o they_o be_v not_o able_a to_o come_v near_o unto_o god_n except_o they_o have_v be_v redeem_v by_o the_o purge_n of_o their_o sin_n &_o iniquity_n which_o be_v to_o be_v do_v by_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o yet_o by_o the_o way_n neither_o jew_n nor_o gentile_a but_o trust_v to_o their_o own_o merit_n &_o think_v themselves_o able_a to_o make_v satisfaction_n unto_o god_n by_o they_o here_o than_o we_o see_v that_o the_o devil_n even_o at_o the_o time_n wtdrew_v miserable_a sinner_n from_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n &_o from_o the_o payment_n which_o he_o have_v make_v by_o his_o death_n &_o passion_n and_o yet_o now_o see_v in_o what_o case_n the_o papist_n be_v for_o they_o will_v confess_v that_o we_o have_v full_a remission_n of_o our_o sin_n by_o the_o death_n and_o passion_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n yea_o but_o that_o be_v as_o they_o
it_o mean_v be_v thus_o convert_v unto_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n let_v we_o take_v good_a heed_n how_o we_o play_v the_o sluggard_n but_o rather_o follow_v the_o counsel_n of_o the_o psalmist_n who_o say_v to_o day_n if_o you_o hear_v his_o voice_n harden_v not_o your_o heart_n 95.8_o psal_n 95.8_o and_o therefore_o let_v we_o take_v such_o a_o taste_n of_o the_o doctrine_n which_o be_v here_o preach_v unto_o we_o as_o that_o we_o may_v be_v bring_v unto_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o so_o accept_v of_o he_o as_o that_o we_o may_v cleave_v unto_o he_o with_o a_o sure_a and_o constant_a faith_n that_o we_o may_v profit_v thereby_o and_o be_v strengthen_v even_o to_o the_o end_n so_o that_o after_o we_o be_v true_o humble_v we_o may_v come_v and_o offer_v ourselves_o unto_o our_o god_n and_o beseech_v he_o of_o pardon_n and_o forgiveness_n and_o although_o we_o be_v unwoorthy_a yet_o let_v we_o not_o leave_v lift_v up_o of_o our_o head_n unto_o heaven_n and_o full_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o god_n will_v accept_v of_o we_o in_o the_o name_n of_o this_o great_a and_o mighty_a redeemer_n and_o although_o he_o be_v for_o a_o little_a while_n cast_v down_o yet_o thou_o have_v promise_v to_o here_o all_o our_o request_n etc._n etc._n ¶_o the_o five_o sermon_n of_o the_o prophecy_n of_o jesus_n christ_n isaiah_n l._n iij_o 9_o and_o he_o make_v his_o grave_n with_o the_o wicked_a and_o with_o the_o scotfree_a in_o his_o death_n though_o he_o have_v do_v no_o wickedness_n neither_o be_v any_o deceit_n in_o his_o mouth_n 10_o yet_o will_v the_o lord_n more_o the_o suffering_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v by_o somuch_o the_o more_fw-it mai_fw-gr we_o gather_v how_o grievous_a our_o sin_n be_v and_o how_o wonderful_o god_n abhor_v they_o consider_v as_o we_o have_v heretofore_o say_v and_o as_o hereafter_o shall_v be_v more_o at_o large_a speak_v that_o there_o be_v no_o superfluous_a nor_o unprofitable_a thing_n in_o the_o death_n and_o passion_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o therefore_o for_o somuch_o as_o he_o be_v terrible_o torment_v he_o have_v on_o the_o one_o side_n witness_v unto_o we_o his_o infinite_a they_o may_v even_o glory_v and_o triumph_v over_o he_o for_o there_o be_v no_o doubt_n but_o that_o the_o prophet_n by_o this_o word_n grave_a mean_v to_o express_v that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v subject_a to_o all_o rebuke_n and_o shame_n and_o that_o god_n will_v forsake_v he_o as_o it_o be_v for_o a_o season_n to_o the_o end_n the_o world_n may_v make_v no_o reckon_n of_o he_o according_o as_o it_o be_v set_v down_o unto_o we_o in_o the_o gospel_n for_o they_o do_v not_o only_o crucify_v jesus_n christ_n but_o they_o also_o put_v out_o their_o tongue_n at_o he_o rail_v and_o scoff_v and_o as_o much_o as_o in_o they_o lay_v go_v about_o to_o make_v he_o desperate_a which_o thing_n be_v very_o well_o foretell_v by_o the_o psalmist_n to_o wit_n that_o the_o most_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a shall_v put_v out_o their_o tongue_n at_o he_o for_o this_o be_v the_o speech_n they_o have_v he_o have_v save_v other_o say_v they_o and_o therefore_o let_v he_o now_o save_v himself_o if_o he_o can_v why_o call_v not_o he_o upon_o his_o god_n 27.42_o psal_n 22.8_o mat._n 27.42_o we_o shall_v see_v whether_o he_o so_o great_o love_v he_o or_o no._n we_o see_v then_o how_o the_o wicked_a wound_v our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o how_o furious_o man_n outrage_v against_o he_o and_o it_o be_v to_o this_o end_n and_o purpose_n that_o we_o may_v find_v so_o much_o favour_n at_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n as_o to_o have_v our_o sin_n cover_v and_o although_o satan_n have_v wherefore_o to_o accuse_v we_o yet_o shall_v all_o the_o shame_n whereunto_o he_o be_v any_o way_n able_a to_o put_v we_o be_v clear_o bury_v wherefore_o since_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n will_v needs_o bear_v all_o our_o blame_n and_o shame_n it_o be_v to_o this_o end_n that_o all_o our_o filthiness_n may_v be_v cover_v before_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n so_o that_o they_o shall_v never_o be_v able_a to_o come_v in_o mind_n any_o more_o and_o when_o the_o prophet_n speak_v here_o of_o the_o scotfree_a it_o be_v as_o much_o as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v the_o most_o outrageous_a kind_n of_o people_n for_o we_o know_v that_o when_o man_n be_v scotfree_a and_o in_o authority_n they_o go_v about_o to_o make_v themselves_o to_o be_v fear_v always_o abuse_v their_o power_n and_o credit_n and_o this_o also_o we_o see_v that_o very_o few_o or_o none_o of_o these_o man_n keep_v any_o temperatnesse_n and_o measure_n either_o yet_o become_v gentle_a and_o mild_a when_o they_o may_v hurt_v but_o as_o for_o the_o poor_a soul_n although_o indeed_o they_o be_v fierce_a and_o cruel_a enough_o yet_o be_v they_o keep_v back_o from_o do_v any_o harm_n even_o by_o main_a force_n &_o thereby_o the_o mischief_n which_o they_o will_v glad_o do_v be_v not_o see_v howbeit_o as_o for_o the_o rich_a and_o mighty_a one_o they_o be_v without_o all_o order_n and_o think_v whatsoever_o they_o do_v be_v lawful_a to_o be_v short_a the_o prophet_n his_o meaning_n be_v that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n be_v thrust_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o man_n to_o the_o end_n he_o may_v be_v so_o vilainous_o handle_v as_o that_o he_o be_v not_o worthy_a to_o be_v account_v amongst_o the_o contemptible_a &_o petty_a companion_n but_o to_o be_v take_v as_o a_o worm_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o to_o have_v all_o the_o mock_n and_o scorn_n that_o may_v be_v to_o be_v lay_v upon_o he_o thus_o we_o see_v the_o sum_n and_o effect_n of_o this_o first_o part_n now_o he_o by_o and_o by_o after_o say_v that_o he_o have_v for_o all_o this_o do_v no_o wickedness_n whereby_o he_o mean_v to_o show_v that_o that_o the_o son_n of_o god_n as_o touch_v himself_o be_v innocent_a will_v take_v upon_o he_o all_o our_o burden_n wherewith_o we_o be_v overcharge_v for_o there_o be_v no_o mortal_a creature_n that_o be_v able_a to_o bear_v and_o suffer_v that_o which_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n do_v and_o so_o by_o that_o mean_a the_o prophet_n again_o declare_v unto_o we_o that_o it_o be_v not_o for_o his_o own_o desert_n neither_o yet_o be_v he_o guilty_a of_o any_o thing_n whenas_o they_o thus_o cruel_o and_o tirrannous_o use_v he_o but_o abide_v all_o this_o gear_n for_o our_o sake_n such_o sort_n lead_v the_o whole_a course_n of_o this_o life_n as_o that_o he_o be_v see_v to_o live_v virtuous_o &_o in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n yet_o be_v he_o never_o able_a to_o refrain_v his_o tongue_n but_o that_o there_o will_v appear_v some_o light_n inconsiderate_a lie_v or_o dissemble_v speech_n in_o he_o to_o be_v short_a it_o be_v say_v that_o there_o be_v no_o deceit_n to_o be_v find_v in_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n to_o show_v that_o in_o all_o his_o word_n and_o deed_n he_o be_v a_o mirror_n of_o all_o holiness_n now_o it_o be_v most_o certain_a that_o all_o the_o misery_n which_o we_o feel_v be_v the_o very_a fruit_n of_o our_o sin_n for_o have_v we_o abide_v in_o the_o same_o purity_n wherein_o god_n set_v our_o father_n adam_n our_o punishment_n shall_v cease_v and_o be_v abolish_v in_o the_o world_n and_o therefore_o the_o fruit_n of_o our_o sin_n be_v the_o cause_n of_o our_o punishment_n so_o then_o we_o be_v to_o conclude_v that_o forsomuch_o as_o there_o be_v not_o find_v the_o least_o blot_n that_o may_v be_v in_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n he_o therefore_o bear_v the_o punishment_n which_o we_o be_v worthy_a of_o and_o deserve_v and_o mark_v beside_o why_o the_o prophet_n add_v that_o god_n will_v make_v he_o subject_a to_o infirmity_n this_o word_n infirmity_n have_v a_o large_a scope_n in_o the_o scripture_n for_o it_o import_v all_o the_o thing_n which_o make_v man_n contemptible_a as_o we_o see_v in_o many_o place_n thereof_o for_o poverty_n sickness_n grief_n of_o mind_n or_o contemptiblenesse_n and_o a_o man_n that_o have_v no_o good_a grace_n either_o to_o speak_v or_o do_v well_o neither_o yet_o good_a gesture_n or_o behaviour_n nor_o habiltie_a of_o wit_n and_o discretion_n be_v all_o call_v in_o the_o scripture_n infirmity_n to_o be_v short_a this_o be_v to_o bring_v we_o back_o to_o the_o thing_n which_o the_o prophet_n have_v already_o touch_v to_o wit_n that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n be_v like_o a_o deform_a creature_n and_o such_o a_o one_o as_o in_o who_o be_v no_o show_n of_o reputation_n and_o credit_n among_o man_n and_o yet_o not_o such_o a_o one_o neither_o but_o that_o there_o appear_v in_o he_o sure_a and_o certain_a mark_n and_o token_n that_o he_o be_v to_o be_v honour_v as_o the_o only_a son_n of_o god_n 1.14_o john_n 1.14_o but_o it_o be_v in_o such_o sort_n darken_v by_o his_o suffering_n and_o his_o infirmity_n such_o as_o that_o there_o be_v no_o power_n or_o virtue_n see_v in_o he_o and_o it_o seem_v that_o there_o be_v no_o grace_n nor_o favour_n in_o he_o why_o he_o shall_v be_v esteem_v and_o have_v in_o honour_n we_o must_v also_o call_v to_o mind_v the_o thing_n that_o have_v be_v before_o recite_v to_o wit_n that_o he_o be_v beat_v and_o scourge_v by_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n suffer_v the_o horrible_a anguish_n of_o his_o judgement_n &_o in_o his_o body_n bear_v the_o fearful_a torment_n that_o may_v be_v and_o over_o and_o beside_o all_o this_o he_o be_v so_o vile_o think_v of_o as_o that_o he_o be_v not_o esteem_v to_o be_v place_v among_o the_o most_o wicked_a and_o slavishe_a company_n thus_o we_o see_v how_o the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v punish_v wherefore_o since_o the_o case_n thus_o stand_v let_v we_o understande_v that_o forsomuche_o as_o god_n spare_v not_o he_o that_o we_o for_o our_o part_n shall_v not_o be_v spare_v and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o have_v give_v we_o occasion_n to_o humble_v ourselves_o to_o the_o end_n we_o shall_v not_o wax_v proud_a and_o take_v in_o hand_n to_o justify_v ourselves_o or_o else_o not_o cast_v our_o sin_n behind_o our_o back_n but_o daily_o think_v upon_o they_o and_o be_v ashamed_a whenas_o we_o see_v how_o dear_a a_o recompense_n be_v make_v for_o they_o for_o be_v this_o of_o a_o king_n shall_v be_v bring_v to_o be_v arraign_v and_o condemn_v for_o the_o same_o and_o so_o bear_v the_o punishment_n thereof_o &_o the_o thief_n to_o be_v discharge_v and_o pardon_v shall_v he_o rejoice_v and_o make_v a_o scoff_n at_o he_o whenas_o he_o see_v the_o son_n of_o a_o king_n to_o be_v put_v to_o death_n and_o suffer_v the_o punishment_n that_o he_o deserve_v even_o so_o at_o this_o present_a fare_v it_o with_o us._n for_o behold_v how_o jesus_n christ_n the_o only_a son_n of_o god_n be_v imprison_v and_o we_o deliver_v he_o condemn_v and_o we_o pardon_v he_o put_v to_o all_o shame_n and_o we_o receive_v to_o honour_n at_o last_o he_o descend_v into_o the_o bottomeles_a pit_n of_o hell_n and_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n be_v set_v open_a for_o we_o to_o enter_v into_o and_o therefore_o when_o we_o here_o all_o these_o thing_n be_v it_o for_o we_o to_o be_v drowsy_a head_a &_o live_v secure_o and_o to_o delight_n and_o flatter_v ourselves_o in_o our_o sin_n and_o iniquity_n wherefore_o let_v we_o well_o consider_v of_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o always_o weigh_v these_o word_n that_o it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o god_n to_o have_v he_o thus_o afflict_v as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v 4.28_o act_n 2.23_o &_o 4.28_o that_o it_o be_v not_o for_o we_o to_o think_v that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n be_v forsake_v as_o that_o the_o wicked_a one_o may_v torment_v he_o at_o their_o will_n and_o pleasure_n for_o as_o saint_n peter_n say_v in_o the_o act_n of_o the_o apostle_n they_o can_v do_v nothing_o against_o he_o otherwise_o then_o have_v be_v determine_v before_o by_o the_o secret_a counsel_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v not_o for_o naught_o that_o the_o prophet_n bring_v we_o always_o back_o to_o this_o that_o we_o must_v lift_v our_o mind_n unto_o god_n &_o acknowledge_v that_o he_o be_v judge_n of_o the_o world_n will_v be_v satisfy_v for_o our_o sin_n &_o offence_n even_o in_o the_o person_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n his_o only_a son_n to_o the_o end_n we_o may_v be_v discharge_v of_o they_o and_o that_o it_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v so_o rude_o handle_v that_o we_o may_v look_v up_o the_o cherefullier_n and_o that_o we_o may_v understand_v that_o god_n will_v not_o remember_v our_o fault_n with_o make_v we_o to_o be_v as_o it_o be_v detestable_a in_o his_o sight_n wherefore_o when_o we_o shall_v have_v know_v all_o this_o we_o shall_v have_v great_o profit_v not_o only_o for_o a_o day_n but_o also_o all_o the_o day_n of_o our_o life_n for_o to_o say_v the_o truth_n it_o be_v a_o doctrine_n wherewith_o we_o must_v so_o acquaint_v ourselves_o as_o that_o although_o we_o think_v we_o know_v it_o well_o enough_o yet_o that_o we_o must_v not_o cease_v more_o &_o more_o to_o comforme_v ourselves_o thereto_o and_o for_o that_o more_o lively_a express_v here_o of_o see_v why_o the_o prophet_n go_v on_o further_a and_o say_v that_o he_o will_v make_v his_o soul_n a_o offering_n for_o sin_n to_o wit_n that_o jesus_n christ_n will_v forget_v his_o own_o life_n for_o the_o redeem_n of_o our_o life_n &_o the_o price_n of_o why_o come_v he_o down_o into_o the_o world_n why_o take_v he_o our_o flesh_n upon_o he_o why_o suffer_v he_o upon_o the_o cross_n why_o rise_v he_o again_o and_o why_o ascend_v he_o into_o heaven_n forsooth_o he_o do_v all_o this_o to_o this_o end_n and_o purpose_n that_o he_o will_v gather_v we_o together_o into_o his_o kingdom_n whenas_o he_o shall_v appear_v and_o therefore_o this_o his_o come_n be_v as_o it_o be_v to_o seal_v and_o ratify_v all_o whatsoever_o he_o have_v do_v and_o endure_v for_o our_o salvation_n now_o this_o be_v even_o sufficient_a to_o stay_v we_o for_o the_o resist_n of_o all_o the_o temptation_n in_o the_o world_n but_o because_o we_o be_v so_o frail_a and_o inconstant_a as_o that_o we_o can_v believe_v the_o thing_n which_o god_n himself_o say_v saint_n paul_n now_o use_v a_o strange_a kind_n of_o argument_n the_o better_a to_o confirm_v we_o in_o this_o hope_n whereunto_o he_o have_v exhort_v we_o in_o the_o person_n of_o the_o thessalonian_o which_o be_v that_o god_n will_v not_o be_v so_o light_o set_v by_o by_o the_o contemner_n of_o his_o gospel_n who_o make_v no_o reckon_n of_o his_o heavenly_a majesty_n neither_o will_v he_o suffer_v his_o creature_n to_o lift_v themselves_o up_o against_o he_o &_o to_o withstand_v he_o thus_o we_o see_v by_o how_o much_o more_o we_o shall_v be_v confirm_v in_o the_o hope_n of_o our_o salvation_n see_v that_o god_n have_v a_o interest_n therein_o &_o be_v his_o own_o cause_n and_o this_o be_v a_o point_n which_o we_o be_v diligent_o to_o observe_v for_o although_o as_o i_o have_v already_o say_v god_n exceed_o assure_v we_o that_o he_o have_v great_a care_n of_o our_o salvation_n yet_o our_o nature_n be_v so_o wonderful_a mistrustful_a as_o that_o we_o continual_o stand_v in_o doubt_n but_o when_o it_o be_v set_v down_o unto_o we_o the_o god_n will_v defend_v his_o own_o right_n and_o not_o suffer_v we_o to_o tread_v his_o majesty_n under_o foot_n this_o be_v a_o doctrine_n which_o shall_v make_v we_o full_o assure_v and_o resolute_a and_o beside_o god_n show_v we_o such_o favour_n in_o join_v his_o glory_n with_o our_o salvation_n as_o that_o there_o be_v a_o inseparable_a bond_n between_o the_o one_o and_o the_o other_o for_o do_v not_o we_o see_v a_o infallible_a assurance_n that_o our_o lord_n jesus_n will_v come_v to_o give_v we_o rest_v and_o quietness_n because_o it_o can_v otherwise_o be_v but_o that_o god_n will_v mainteyn_fw-mi his_o majesty_n against_o the_o pride_n and_o enmity_n of_o man_n and_o therefore_o let_v we_o diligent_o mark_v that_o jesus_n christ_n can_v maintain_v the_o glory_n of_o his_o father_n but_z that_o he_o must_v eftsoon_o declare_v himself_o to_o be_v our_o redeemer_n and_o these_o thing_n as_o i_o have_v say_v can_v be_v sunder_v wherefore_o we_o herein_o see_v the_o infinite_a love_n of_o our_o god_n towards_o his_o faithful_a one_o whenas_o he_o conjoin_v himself_o in_o â—uch_o sort_n with_o they_o for_o as_o he_o can_v possible_o forget_v his_o own_o glory_n no_o more_o can_v he_o also_o forget_v our_o salvation_n and_o as_o he_o will_v show_v his_o power_n to_o be_v revenge_v of_o all_o such_o as_o resist_v he_o even_o so_o will_v he_o likewise_o punish_v all_o those_o that_o have_v unjust_o afflict_v his_o choose_a people_n thus_o we_o see_v what_o s._n paul_n his_o meaning_n be_v when_o as_o he_o say_v that_o jesus_n christ_n will_v come_v to_o render_v vengeance_n to_o all_o those_o which_o have_v not_o know_v god_n and_o obey_v his_o gospel_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v behold_v your_o enemy_n which_o persecute_v you_o now_o you_o be_v in_o doubt_n whether_o god_n regard_v your_o affliction_n and_o whether_o he_o have_v compassion_n of_o you_o or_o not_o for_o the_o remedy_n of_o they_o what_o think_v you_o that_o god_n make_v no_o reckon_n to_o maintain_v and_o defend_v his_o glory_n now_o as_o the_o adversary_n afflict_v you_o for_o cleave_v unto_o the_o gospel_n even_o so_o likewise_o will_v god_n in_o the_o defence_n of_o his_o own_o cause_n be_v your_o protector_n and_o defendor_n and_o by_o the_o way_n s._n paul_n also_o give_v we_o here_o in_o this_o place_n many_o profitable_a advertisemente_n for_o when_o he_o speak_v of_o the_o vengeance_n which_o be_v prepare_v for_o our_o enemy_n he_o say_v that_o jesus_n christ_n will_v come_v with_o the_o angel_n of_o his_o power_n and_o in_o flame_a fire_n but_o to_o what_o end_n forsooth_o to_o confirm_v his_o say_n to_o wit_n that_o the_o enemy_n of_o his_o truth_n say_v he_o may_v sustain_v their_o punishment_n both_o before_o god_n and_o his_o majesty_n as_o if_o he_o shall_v have_v say_v sure_o you_o can_v no_o more_o comprehend_v the_o torment_n which_o the_o faithless_a shall_v suffer_v then_o we_o do_v see_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n for_o when_o we_o hear_v the_o glory_n of_o god_n speak_v of_o we_o know_v it_o to_o be_v without_o end_n and_o measure_n and_o therefore_o we_o ought_v to_o wonder_v at_o it_o even_o so_o fare_v it_o with_o the_o horrible_a vengeance_n which_o be_v prepare_v for_o all_o the_o faithless_a see_v god_n must_v show_v forth_o his_o power_n upon_o they_o for_o since_o his_o majesty_n as_o i_o have_v say_v be_v inestimable_a therefore_o must_v their_o torment_n be_v also_o incomprehensible_a for_o our_o cause_n and_o thus_o much_o for_o this_o point_n moreover_o when_o s._n paul_n speak_v of_o infidel_n and_o of_o the_o enemy_n of_o god_n he_o say_v that_o they_o know_v he_o not_o nor_o yet_o obey_v his_o gospel_n or_o that_o they_o be_v
