travel_v all_o the_o day_n in_o hope_n of_o his_o wage_a the_o husbandman_n sow_v his_o seed_n in_o hope_n of_o a_o harvest_n the_o soldier_n follow_v the_o war_n in_o hope_n of_o a_o spoil_n and_o yet_o a_o christian_a man_n may_v not_o fulfil_v the_o commandment_n in_o hope_n of_o a_o reward_n in_o heaven_n for_o if_o it_o be_v lawful_a to_o hope_v for_o heaven_n why_o it_o be_v not_o lawful_a also_o to_o give_v alm_n in_o hope_n of_o heaven_n as_o david_n incline_v his_o heart_n to_o keep_v the_o law_n for_o reward_n and_o retribution_n 118._o psal_n 118._o they_o answer_n that_o we_o disposition_n yea_o if_o fear_n of_o hell_n be_v sufficient_a to_o keep_v we_o from_o the_o act_n of_o sin_n it_o be_v sufficient_a also_o to_o restrain_v we_o from_o the_o evil_a desire_n of_o the_o mind_n because_o against_o that_o also_o hell_n be_v prepare_v and_o in_o this_o be_v a_o plain_a difference_n betwixt_v fear_n of_o hell_n and_o temporal_a punishment_n because_o prince_n by_o temporal_a pain_n punish_v only_o the_o outward_a act_n of_o which_o only_o they_o can_v judge_v and_o therefore_o the_o thief_n may_v abstain_v from_o theft_n for_o fear_n of_o hang_v and_o yet_o have_v a_o inward_a desire_n to_o steal_v but_o god_n punish_v in_o hell_n not_o only_o the_o outward_a act_n but_o also_o the_o inward_a affection_n and_o desire_v of_o sin_n and_o therefore_o if_o fear_v of_o hell_n keep_v a_o man_n from_o theft_n it_o will_v restrain_v he_o also_o from_o the_o desire_n and_o consequent_o fear_v of_o hell_n can_v not_o be_v ill_a but_o rather_o good_a which_o be_v no_o cause_n of_o ill_a but_o rather_o a_o cause_n why_o we_o abstain_v from_o evil_a and_o although_o some_o peradventure_o yea_o and_o without_o peradventure_o will_v sin_v and_o neglegcte_v the_o commandment_n if_o hope_v of_o heaven_n and_o fear_n of_o hell_n be_v not_o yet_o that_o be_v no_o argument_n that_o there_o in_o they_o sin_n if_o they_o have_v no_o presentil_a affection_n or_o consent_v to_o sin_n for_o so_o many_o will_v sin_v if_o they_o shall_v live_v long_o or_o if_o they_o have_v this_o or_o that_o occasion_n or_o if_o god_n give_v they_o not_o this_o and_o that_o grace_n and_o yet_o that_o they_o will_v sin_v be_v no_o sin_n if_o they_o have_v no_o present_a affection_n or_o desire_v to_o sin_n yea_o this_o be_v a_o argument_n that_o hope_v of_o heaven_n and_o fear_n of_o hell_n be_v very_o laudable_a and_o good_a because_o they_o be_v bridle_n to_o restrain_v man_n from_o sin_v wherefore_o to_o draw_v near_o a_o conclusion_n which_o be_v that_o our_o
