be_v mourn_v under_o the_o rod._n the_o godly_a be_v not_o so_o to_o be_v mind_v as_o that_o the_o other_o be_v whole_o neglect_v they_o have_v as_o strong_a and_o tender_a though_o not_o as_o regular_a affection_n to_o their_o relation_n and_o must_v not_o be_v whole_o suffer_v to_o sink_v under_o their_o unrelieved_a burden_n here_o therefore_o i_o must_v have_v respect_n to_o two_o seipsum_fw-la and_o whole_o slight_v in_o their_o affliction_n we_o must_v pity_v they_o that_o can_v pity_v themselves_o the_o law_n of_o god_n command_v we_o to_o help_v a_o beast_n if_o fall_v under_o its_o burden_n how_o much_o more_o a_o man_n sink_v under_o a_o load_n of_o sorrow_n i_o confess_v use_n of_o comfort_n to_o the_o unregenerate_a be_v not_o ordinary_o in_o use_n among_o we_o and_o it_o may_v seem_v strange_a whence_o any_o thing_n of_o support_n shall_v be_v draw_v for_o they_o that_o have_v no_o special_a interest_n in_o christ_n or_o the_o promise_n i_o confess_v also_o i_o find_v myself_o under_o great_a disadvantage_n for_o this_o work_n i_o can_v offer_v they_o those_o revive_a cordial_n that_o be_v contain_v in_o christ_n and_o the_o covenant_n for_o god_n afflict_a people_n but_o yet_o such_o be_v the_o goodness_n of_o god_n even_o to_o his_o enemy_n that_o they_o be_v not_o leave_v whole_o without_o support_n or_o mean_n to_o allay_v their_o sorrow_n if_o this_o therefore_o be_v thy_o case_n who_o read_v these_o line_n afflict_v and_o unsanctified_a mourn_v bitter_o for_o thy_o dead_a friend_n and_o more_o cause_n to_o mourn_v for_o thy_o dead_a soul_n christless_a and_o graceless_a as_o well_o as_o childless_a or_o friendless_a no_o comfort_n in_o hand_n nor_o yet_o in_o hope_n full_a of_o trouble_n and_o no_o vent_n by_o prayer_n or_o faith_n to_o ease_v thy_o heart_n poor_a creature_n thy_o case_n be_v sad_a but_o yet_o do_v not_o whole_o sink_v and_o suffer_v thyself_o to_o be_v swallow_v up_o of_o grief_n thou_o have_v lay_v to_o heaven_n it_o be_v once_o the_o case_n of_o a_o godly_a minister_n of_o this_o nation_n who_o be_v much_o trouble_v at_o his_o return_n and_o say_v i_o be_o like_o a_o sheep_n drive_v out_o of_o the_o storm_n almost_o to_o the_o fold_n and_o then_o drive_v back_o into_o the_o storm_n again_o or_o a_o weary_a traveller_n that_o be_v come_v near_o his_o home_n and_o then_o must_v go_v back_o to_o fetch_v somewhat_o he_o have_v forget_v or_o a_o apprentice_n who_o time_n be_v almost_o expire_v and_o then_o must_v begin_v a_o new_a term_n but_o to_o die_v and_o then_o return_v again_o
