as_o though_o there_o be_v no_o law_n in_o the_o world_n yet_o rom._n 3._o last_o it_o be_v say_v do_v we_o make_v void_a the_o law_n through_o faith_n nay_o we_o establish_v the_o law_n what_o may_v we_o judge_v of_o these_o expression_n the_o answer_n be_v still_o what_o i_o have_v say_v the_o apostle_n in_o the_o former_a place_n confider_v the_o law_n only_o as_o it_o be_v the_o law_n of_o the_o old_a covenant_n in_o which_o respect_n he_o say_v it_o be_v not_o make_v for_o the_o righteous_a man_n i._n e._n he_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v with_o it_o he_o be_v not_o under_o it_o in_o the_o latter_a only_o as_o it_o be_v the_o law_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n and_o in_o this_o respect_n the_o preach_n of_o faith_n do_v not_o nul_fw-fr the_o law_n to_o the_o believer_n but_o do_v rather_o establish_v it_o as_o i_o be_o come_v to_o show_v thus_o we_o see_v how_o this_o distinction_n about_o the_o moral_a law_n both_o do_v and_o will_v bring_v all_o those_o opposite_a scripture_n which_o concern_v the_o law_n to_o a_o sweet_a concord_n and_o harmony_n one_o with_o another_o 2_o hence_o we_o may_v learn_v that_o the_o moral_a law_n do_v still_o remain_v as_o a_o rule_n to_o saint_n even_o in_o gospel-time_n for_o mark_v it_o the_o moral_a law_n be_v sarahs_n rule_n as_o well_o as_o hagar_n now_o though_o hagar_n the_o servant_n in_o gospel-time_n be_v a_o outcast_n yet_o sarah_n the_o mistress_n still_o remain_v in_o the_o family_n and_o govern_v there_o the_o moral_a law_n therefore_o as_o it_o be_v sarahs_n rule_n remain_v in_o as_o full_a force_n even_o in_o gospel_n time_n as_o ever_o now_o because_o some_o not_o understand_v this_o distinction_n have_v weak_o and_o unadvised_o cast_v the_o moral_a law_n whole_o out_o of_o door_n as_o be_v a_o thing_n of_o no_o use_n to_o believer_n under_o the_o new_a testament_n as_o there_o be_v other_o that_o hand_n over_o head_n will_v bring_v it_o in_o i_o shall_v therefore_o establish_v this_o position_n that_o the_o moral_a law_n be_v yea_o must_v be_v a_o rule_n to_o saint_n even_o under_o the_o new_a testament_n and_o that_o by_o these_o follow_a argument_n arg._n 1._o if_o the_o come_n of_o christ_n do_v not_o destroy_v the_o law_n as_o a_o rule_n but_o
threat_n of_o death_n in_o case_n of_o disobedience_n and_o the_o promise_n of_o life_n upon_o condition_n of_o obedience_n by_o assure_v her_o seed_n in_o give_v forth_o this_o rule_n unto_o they_o that_o they_o be_v already_o most_o certain_o free_v from_o death_n and_o possess_v of_o life_n and_o that_o therefore_o she_o give_v not_o forth_o this_o rule_n unto_o they_o to_o be_v as_o a_o way_n or_o mean_n through_o the_o observance_n of_o which_o they_o may_v escape_v the_o one_o or_o obtain_v the_o other_o but_o only_o as_o a_o declaration_n of_o their_o father_n will_n and_o their_o 4_o hence_o we_o may_v learn_v that_o a_o true_a believer_n as_o he_o do_v not_o expect_v life_n and_o salvation_n from_o his_o obedience_n to_o the_o law_n so_o shall_v he_o not_o fear_v death_n and_o condemnation_n either_o by_o his_o fall_a short_a in_o obedience_n or_o by_o his_o disobedience_n this_o position_n will_v sound_v harsh_a in_o some_o care_n and_o be_v account_v a_o leaven_a principle_n but_o do_v but_o observe_v how_o natural_o it_o flow_v from_o what_o have_v be_v lay_v down_o and_o prove_v for_o if_o the_o promise_n of_o life_n and_o salvation_n upon_o condition_n of_o obedience_n and_o the_o threat_n of_o death_n and_o condemnation_n to_o the_o disobedient_a be_v proper_a to_o the_o law_n as_o hagars_n law_n and_o if_o the_o law_n as_o hagars_n law_n be_v now_o cast_v out_o then_o have_v a_o believer_n nothing_o to_o do_v with_o the_o law_n as_o it_o be_v a_o law_n promise_v life_n to_o the_o obedient_a or_o threaten_a death_n to_o the_o disobedient_a and_o if_o so_o then_o can_v he_o expect_v life_n and_o salvation_n from_o it_o though_o he_o shall_v obey_v it_o nor_o need_v he_o fear_v death_n though_o he_o disobey_v it_o this_o necessary_o follow_v old_a covenant_n be_v ans_fw-fr this_o be_v indeed_o the_o knotty_a question_n and_o if_o there_o be_v any_o piece_n of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o covenant_n that_o seem_v to_o have_v perplex_v difficulty_n in_o it_o this_o be_v it_o before_o i_o can_v deliver_v my_o thought_n hereof_o positive_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o something_o be_v lay_v down_o negative_o in_o opposition_n to_o that_o common_a principle_n which_o hold_v this_o old_a covenant_n to_o be_v a_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o to_o differ_v from_o the_o new_a only_o in_o respect_n of_o administration_n so_o make_v the_o old_a and_o the_o new_a not_o to_o be_v two_o diverse_a covenant_n but_o two_o administration_n of_o one_o and_o the_o same_o covenant_n the_o one_o more_o dark_a the_o other_o more_o clear_a but_o the_o covenant_n to_o be_v for_o substance_n the_o same_o and_o
