and_o acquiesce_n in_o the_o do_n of_o they_o only_o that_o the_o soul_n may_v be_v save_v but_o if_o some_o thing_n seem_v to_o it_o to_o be_v impossible_a to_o be_v perform_v it_o lay_v all_o that_o upon_o the_o shoulder_n of_o christ_n as_o without_o and_o beyond_o itself_o and_o so_o quiet_v its_o own_o conscience_n in_o the_o best_a manner_n it_o can_v be_v possible_o perform_v when_o as_o if_o from_o the_o most_o inward_a secret_n of_o its_o own_o soul_n it_o will_v confess_v the_o truth_n it_o will_v indeed_o tell_v you_o of_o a_o conscience_n not_o sound_o pacify_v but_o rather_o of_o one_o that_o gnaw_v and_o torment_v unless_o it_o strive_v of_o set_a purpose_n to_o hide_v the_o true_a state_n of_o the_o matter_n but_o if_o such_o a_o one_o be_v about_o to_o object_n and_o say_v this_o be_v the_o devil_n that_o thus_o accuse_v and_o blame_v a_o man_n in_o his_o conscience_n from_o which_o notwithstanding_o any_o one_o may_v be_v free_v by_o and_o through_o christ_n the_o true_a light_n and_o these_o â—â—en_o stand_v in_o a_o false_a liberty_n nor_o be_v wilâ—â—g_v to_o pay_v tithe_n to_o the_o lord_n but_o only_o â—â—e_v thousand_o part_n and_o yet_o make_v no_o certain_a â—â—â—d_v of_o likeness_n thereof_o and_o therefore_o the_o godliness_n promise_v unto_o we_o do_v not_o only_o and_o proper_o require_v of_o we_o that_o we_o shall_v desist_v from_o always_o must_v yet_o endure_v that_o accusation_n concern_v the_o root_n of_o sin_n yet_o lurk_v in_o the_o most_o inward_a part_n of_o his_o heart_n now_o although_o the_o more_o vulgar_a and_o common_a external_a knowledge_n of_o christ_n be_v willing_a to_o palliate_v and_o cover_v over_o this_o inward_a stain_n by_o the_o bless_a death_n of_o christ_n say_v these_o thing_n can_v hurt_v remain_v proper_a to_o he_o yea_o though_o he_o renouncee_v his_o intellect_n so_o that_o in_o this_o very_a point_n the_o writer_n err_v in_o which_o he_o tax_v other_o and_o in_o truth_n far_o more_o vile_o see_v that_o he_o thereby_o will_v come_v to_o a_o great_a knowledge_n but_o especial_o that_o he_o by_o the_o mean_n of_o his_o temerity_n will_v arrive_v at_o that_o which_o other_o it_o be_v impossible_a that_o they_o shall_v this_o way_n arrive_v at_o the_o truth_n of_o god_n and_o can_v possible_o be_v plant_v into_o liberty_n as_o in_o the_o sight_n god_n because_o that_o they_o be_v not_o lead_v in_o thaâ—_n true_a and_o as_o it_o be_v that_o essential_a death_n to_o be_v find_v in_o both_o soul_n and_o body_n buâ—_n be_v only_o instruct_v by_o know_v though_o for_o claritude_n or_o light_n which_o be_v god_n himself_o without_o the_o interposition_n of_o the_o light_a angelical_a and_o then_o god_n couniteth_a all_o the_o forego_n light_n in_o his_o own_o light_n which_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o himself_o and_o a_o man_n be_v make_v so_o sure_a and_o certain_a from_o god_n who_o be_v that_o very_a light_n that_o this_o degree_n of_o his_o light_n be_v god_n himself_o and_o not_o angelical_a claritude_n that_o he_o need_v not_o ask_v other_o who_o have_v experience_v it_o for_o god_n bring_v with_o he_o that_o certainty_n when_o he_o come_v but_o before_o this_o light_n come_v which_o be_v god_n himself_o those_o angelical_a light_n do_v first_o appear_v and_o do_v as_o it_o be_v prepare_v the_o way_n for_o the_o true_a light_n for_o if_o this_o true_a light_n shall_v come_v without_o send_v before_o it_o those_o enlightening_n a_o man_n can_v not_o bear_v it_o but_o the_o angelical_a light_n be_v such_o whereby_o a_o man_n rejoice_v for_o a_o short_a time_n just_o as_o christ_n say_v of_o john_n yea_o be_v willing_a to_o be_v exalt_v in_o hâ—â—_n light_a for_o a_o hour_n but_o when_o chriâ—â—_n that_o eternal_a light_n claritude_n without_o the_o interposition_n of_o the_o angelic_a light_n it_o can_v not_o be_v otherwise_o but_o they_o will_v be_v always_o high_o esteem_v of_o and_o will_v never_o be_v deprive_v of_o their_o estimation_n a_o man_n who_o be_v arrive_v at_o god_n be_v above_o the_o angel_n for_o he_o pass_v through_o all_o the_o angel_n into_o the_o son_n a_o man_n must_v pass_v through_o a_o combat_n a_o death_n and_o the_o grave_a to_o come_v unto_o god_n wherein_o be_v no_o need_n of_o the_o angel_n in_o as_o much_o as_o they_o do_v contemplate_v and_o use_v without_o a_o death_n that_o be_v to_o have_v a_o care_n lest_o he_o mistake_v these_o for_o divine_a light_n and_o if_o he_o be_v in_o doubt_n whether_o they_o be_v divine_a or_o not_o there_o be_v need_v only_o of_o silence_n in_o righteousness_n as_o we_o speak_v of_o a_o angelic_a claritude_n that_o it_o show_v to_o a_o man_n his_o prison_n together_o with_o his_o impurity_n which_o then_o be_v to_o be_v purify_v by_o fire_n that_o he_o himself_o may_v by_o this_o mean_n be_v make_v capable_a of_o the_o eternal_a light_n which_o be_v christ_n so_o some_o there_o be_v who_o do_v not_o right_o understand_v that_o matter_n for_o when_o that_o angelic_a claritude_n first_o show_n to_o they_o their_o prison_n with_o the._n impurity_n present_o they_o think_v that_o this_o lesser_a light_n be_v god_n himself_o nor_o do_v they_o take_v care_n that_o they_o shall_v first_o be_v free_v from_o their_o impurity_n but_o with_o a_o impure_a nature_n they_o present_o apprehend_v that_o claritude_n and_o arrogate_v to_o themselves_o great_a knowledge_n of_o spiritual_a matter_n which_o also_o they_o do_v divers_a way_n abuse_v by_o speak_v write_v or_o teach_v for_o their_o own_o advantage_n pleasure_n glory_n and_o ambition_n but_o their_o impurity_n and_o their_o sin_n they_o account_v not_o off_o for_o sin_n but_o for_o a_o thing_n lawful_a wherefore_o neither_o do_v their_o conscience_n accuse_v they_o until_o god_n himself_o smite_v they_o for_o they_o ought_v not_o to_o abuse_v claritude_n but_o it_o shall_v have_v serve_v they_o for_o that_o end_n for_o which_o it_o be_v give_v to_o they_o viz._n which_o can_v be_v comprehendâ—â—_n by_o natural_a man_n nor_o can_v any_o man_n by_o â—â—s_o own_o reason_n arrive_v at_o this_o understanding_n but_o such_o be_v very_o prone_a to_o do_v harm_n of_o gross_a instrument_n christ_n say_v except_o a_o man_n leave_v etc._n etc._n if_o a_o man_n must_v leave_v any_o thing_n he_o ought_v first_o to_o have_v it_o thus_o therefore_o a_o man_n first_o have_v father_n mother_n friends_z riches_n honour_n of_o this_o world_n and_o learning_n now_o this_o forsake_v be_v the_o image_n of_o those_o thing_n which_o also_o must_v beside_o these_o be_v and_o consequent_o those_o good_a thing_n also_o be_v to_o be_v forsake_v but_o out_o of_o that_o forsake_v be_v still_o get_v other_o great_a good_n and_o more_o high_a fruit_n which_o again_o must_v be_v subject_v to_o corruption_n whence_o afterward_o other_o fruit_n do_v come_v forth_o augment_v a_o hundred_o fold_n and_o thus_o death_n and_o corruption_n do_v always_o ascend_v high_a and_o high_a as_o also_o do_v the_o fruit_n and_o the_o life_n spring_a from_o thence_o no_o man_n can_v apply_v the_o craeture_n to_o that_o parable_n unless_o he_o himself_o become_v above_o the_o creature_n paul_n say_v unhappy_a man_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v deliver_v i_o from_o the_o body_n of_o this_o death_n here_o be_v to_o be_v note_v that_o paul_n have_v not_o any_o body_n of_o the_o damn_a have_v not_o do_v and_o therefore_o they_o have_v not_o this_o glory_n but_o conscience_n always_o accuse_v they_o that_o they_o be_v impure_a beside_o these_o sit_v down_o in_o the_o lower-most_a hell_n when_o the_o elect_n may_v sit_v in_o the_o uppermost_a hell_n and_o suffer_v the_o torment_n of_o this_o judgement_n find_v refreshment_n neither_o in_o god_n nor_o in_o the_o creature_n between_o the_o creature_n and_o those_o who_o sit_v in_o the_o uppermost_a hell_n be_v a_o great_a gulf_n so_o that_o they_o can_v come_v no_o more_o unto_o they_o nor_o do_v they_o desire_v it_o because_o they_o have_v be_v renounce_v of_o the_o creature_n and_o when_o that_o renounciation_n be_v past_a then_o be_v the_o last_o farewell_n take_v that_o they_o can_v never_o in_o the_o death_n and_o not_o in_o the_o life_n of_o the_o flesh_n it_o much_o more_o behoove_v he_o to_o possess_v use_v know_v and_o behold_v the_o creature_n in_o the_o same_o death_n of_o the_o flesh_n for_o if_o this_o be_v to_o be_v do_v inward_o as_o to_o god_n much_o more_o ought_v it_o to_o be_v do_v outward_o as_o to_o the_o creature_n for_o all_o thing_n must_v be_v behold_v and_o apply_v in_o death_n and_o not_o in_o life_n if_o it_o be_v to_o the_o right_o do_v whilst_o therefore_o we_o be_v not_o yet_o dead_a but_o be_v yet_o alive_a we_o ought_v to_o be_v lift_v up_o on_o semblance_n yet_o it_o can_v stand_v before_o god_n but_o when_o life_n be_v as_o be_v say_v so_o lay_v down_o we_o be_v by_o the_o resurrection_n of_o christ_n raise_v up_o again_o into_o a_o new_a life_n for_o unless_o the_o resurrection_n of_o christ_n shall_v be_v we_o shall_v remain_v eternal_o in_o death_n when_o the_o thief_n on_o the_o right_a hand_n leave_v all_o do_v turn_v himself_o unto_o christ_n he_o beg_v to_o be_v hear_v of_o he_o in_o his_o kingdom_n therefore_o he_o yield_v up_o himself_o into_o conformity_n of_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n wherefore_o also_o he_o be_v conform_v also_o in_o the_o resurrection_n he_o be_v crucify_v by_o law_n which_o like_o a_o just_a magistrate_n do_v not_o desist_v from_o he_o till_o it_o have_v throw_v he_o into_o death_n and_o then_o he_o have_v finish_v his_o office_n and_o so_o become_v justify_v from_o â—in_a he_o also_o revive_v not_o any_o more_o into_o â—hat_n life_n to_o which_o he_o die_v by_o the_o law_n through_o death_n and_o be_v take_v out_o oâ—_n the_o way_n all_o that_o come_v out_o of_o egypt_n must_v die_v in_o the_o wilderness_n but_o their_o child_n come_v into_o the_o promise_a land_n by_o find_v a_o supernatural_a understanding_n light_n and_o claritude_n and_o whâ—â—â—â—ver_o then_o he_o understand_v of_o god_n be_v 〈◊〉_d â—et_a god_n but_o rather_o the_o contrary_n 〈◊〉_d a_o â—herefore_o he_o have_v find_v his_o soul_n so_o 〈◊〉_d also_o â—ust_z he_o again_o lose_v it_o as_o before_o he_o 〈◊〉_d do_v be_v body_n so_o as_o he_o shall_v never_o firâ—â—â—ed_v it_o such_o a_o all_o thing_n be_v direct_v by_o divine_a help_n and_o in_o divine_a claritude_n which_o strike_v reason_n down_o so_o that_o a_o man_n can_v govern_v himself_o conduct_n and_o conserve_v himself_o day_n and_o night_n yet_o when_o all_o these_o be_v take_v away_o he_o must_v at_o length_n come_v into_o death_n that_o god_n may_v come_v and_o take_v his_o place_n and_o administer_v all_o thing_n himself_o then_o a_o man_n be_v draw_v another_o way_n than_o what_o he_o walk_v before_o and_o it_o be_v that_o which_o excel_v his_o own_o will_n knowledge_n and_o strength_n this_o man_n be_v become_v passive_a and_o god_n operate_v in_o he_o as_o the_o conscience_n and_o the_o mind_n be_v captivate_v and_o saden_v when_o it_o be_v well_o with_o the_o flesh_n so_o when_o the_o flesh_n come_v into_o death_n the_o mind_n and_o conscience_n be_v exhilerate_v and_o set_v at_o liberty_n many_o and_o great_a gift_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n do_v come_v real_o into_o a_o man_n which_o yet_o be_v not_o regeneration_n but_o they_o go_v and_o come_v whereas_o that_o be_v regeneration_n when_o &_o where_o god_n have_v plant_v his_o habitation_n and_o god_n be_v become_v one_o with_o man_n in_o god_n neither_o the_o world_n not_o pleasure_n nor_o joy_n be_v suffer_v nature_n must_v want_v all_o these_o when_o the_o mind_n stand_v in_o god_n they_o who_o stand_v under_o grace_n their_o outward_a man_n be_v always_o conserve_v or_o keep_v by_o a_o deadly_a judgement_n their_o internal_a man_n by_o vital_a nourishment_n thus_o they_o be_v always_o keep_v by_o god_n into_o the_o mind_n which_o stand_v in_o god_n no_o motion_n to_o joy_n or_o grief_n can_v penetrate_v but_o there_o come_v a_o great_a sorrow_n which_o descend_v into_o the_o flesh_n that_o the_o mind_n may_v remain_v free_a what_o be_v patience_n be_v it_o or_o not_o when_o a_o man_n suffer_v and_o complain_v to_o no_o man_n no_o no_o for_o this_o be_v
he_o yet_o stand_v in_o the_o creature_n he_o that_o stand_v in_o god_n he_o have_v no_o business_n with_o the_o creature_n but_o with_o god_n and_o know_v he_o to_o be_v faithful_a and_o just_a in_o judgement_n to_o such_o a_o man_n no_o injury_n can_v be_v do_v for_o whatsoever_o happen_v unto_o he_o he_o know_v it_o to_o be_v decree_v by_o god_n jordan_n be_v the_o river_n of_o judgement_n to_o this_o other_o death_n of_o which_o it_o be_v say_v viz._n when_o any_o one_o think_v he_o have_v find_v his_o soul_n and_o that_o he_o be_v confirm_v in_o life_n yet_o must_v he_o be_v subject_v unto_o death_n now_o the_o lord_n suffer_v he_o first_o to_o grow_v and_o to_o increase_v and_o grow_v ripe_a in_o youth_n but_o when_o he_o be_v accomplish_v in_o that_o youth_n he_o plain_o care_v not_o for_o death_n and_o though_o he_o know_v that_o a_o time_n of_o die_a must_v come_v yet_o lie_n lay_v it_o not_o close_o to_o heart_n till_o he_o be_v grow_v old_a than_o death_n fright_v he_o and_o stand_v before_o his_o eye_n and_o yet_o neither_o then_o do_v he_o know_v how_o much_o misery_n there_o be_v there_o to_o be_v meet_v with_o for_o if_o he_o know_v it_o he_o will_v die_v aforehand_o for_o mere_a grief_n they_o who_o depart_v from_o earthly_a thing_n according_a to_o the_o testimony_n of_o conscience_n that_o they_o may_v seek_v the_o salvation_n of_o their_o soul_n and_o to_o arrive_v at_o true_a ripeness_n of_o youth_n rejoice_v in_o this_o death_n when_o they_o hear_v of_o it_o and_o understand_v it_o because_o of_o the_o fruit_n that_o spring_v from_o thence_o but_o they_o who_o be_v in_o this_o death_n be_v destitute_a of_o that_o joy_n for_o if_o they_o can_v yet_o have_v any_o joy_n they_o will_v still_o have_v life_n and_o consequent_o can_v be_v thus_o to_o be_v forsake_v be_v also_o destitute_a of_o hope_n as_o be_v say_v and_o therefore_o this_o desertion_n be_v donâ—_n not_o with_o delight_n but_o with_o great_a aâ—â—â—ction_n the_o first_o desertion_n indeed_o be_v doâ—â—_n with_o joy_n because_o then_o some_o better_a thing_n be_v hope_v for_o but_o that_o hope_n be_v not_o here_o but_o in_o this_o point_n there_o be_v a_o total_a forsake_v and_o a_o be_v make_v naked_a oh_o all_o side_n gain_n as_o they_o say_v make_v labour_n sweet_a but_o mat_n labour_n out_o of_o which_o no_o gain_n be_v hope_v for_o be_v without_o doubt_n a_o matter_n hard_a and_o bitter_a and_o sharp_a labour_n at_o first_o be_v sweet_a because_o gain_v spring_v therefrom_o viz._n that_o the_o life_n or_o soul_n may_v be_v find_v which_o also_o be_v find_v but_o when_o this_o life_n be_v find_v it_o be_v lose_v again_o in_o that_o same_o die_a and_o a_o man_n be_v alienate_v from_o himself_o and_o god_n possess_v the_o place_n of_o self_n and_o there_o be_v no_o more_o mountain_n or_o valley_n but_o god_n alone_o for_o nature_n be_v quite_o shut_v out_o chap._n v._n if_o sin_n be_v not_o neither_o will_v death_n be_v if_o death_n be_v not_o neither_o will_v there_o be_v a_o resurrection_n therefore_o all_o thing_n work_v together_o for_o good_a for_o the_o elect_a now_o that_o which_o first_o depart_v from_o earthly_a thing_n be_v present_o after_o elevate_v into_o divine_a and_o so_o remain_v in_o itself_o without_o death_n for_o though_o it_o may_v die_v as_o to_o its_o gross_a earthly_a nature_n or_o creature_n yet_o as_o to_o its_o self_n it_o be_v without_o death_n as_o have_v only_o change_v one_o state_n into_o another_o and_o stand_v still_o in_o its_o own_o life_n and_o yet_o be_v but_o the_o natural_a man_n in_o his_o own_o propriety_n though_o in_o a_o more_o pure_a estate_n and_o thus_o he_o proceed_v from_o state_n to_o state_n from_o a_o low_a to_o a_o high_a from_o a_o pure_a one_o to_o one_o more_o pure_a and_o although_o all_o that_o be_v here_o say_v of_o state_n be_v by_o the_o mean_n of_o death_n and_o corruption_n accomplish_v yet_o the_o man_n himself_o remain_v yet_o in_o himself_o without_o and_o beyond_o death_n and_o corruption_n for_o he_o be_v still_o the_o same_o and_o can_v forsake_v his_o propriety_n and_o stand_v in_o desire_n as_o to_o god_n as_o he_o before_o stand_v inâ—desâ—â—_n as_o to_o the_o creature_n and_o thus_o he_o ascend_v and_o go_v forward_o until_o he_o arrive_v at_o the_o most_o pure_a and_o noble_a state_n it_o be_v possible_a for_o he_o to_o arrive_v at_o and_o all_o this_o 〈◊〉_d still_o but_o a_o figure_n and_o a_o notion_n but_o a_o pure_a and_o noble_a figure_n but_o if_o we_o must_v come_v above_o
figure_n into_o mere_a estence_n he_o that_o thus_o ascend_v in_o image_n must_v now_o also_o die_v even_o to_o himself_o because_o by_o this_o his_o asent_a and_o go_v forward_o in_o image_n he_o be_v prepare_v so_o as_o he_o can_v be_v how_o touch_v with_o this_o death_n by_o which_o he_o die_v and_o be_v corrupt_v and_o then_o he_o suffer_v a_o death_n of_o all_o his_o ornament_n and_o gift_n yea_o of_o his_o own_o self_n and_o therefore_o he_o can_v never_o be_v restore_v more_o nor_o be_v make_v glad_a by_o any_o mean_n because_o the_o joy_n be_v reserve_v for_o he_o that_o abide_v after_o death_n as_o the_o prophet_n faith_n these_o shall_v be_v write_v for_o the_o generation_n to_o come_v and_o the_o people_n which_o shall_v be_v create_v shall_v praise_v the_o lord_n to_o eternal_a life_n abide_v eternal_o in_o god_n and_o yet_o as_o a_o creature_n but_o glorify_v in_o god_n he_o who_o come_v to_o this_o state_n can_v deny_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o thing_n but_o he_o who_o partake_v nothing_o thereof_o also_o as_o a_o natural_a man_n utter_v with_o truth_n that_o he_o believe_v that_o there_o be_v no_o resurrection_n and_o although_o he_o shall_v confess_v it_o yet_o even_o that_o confession_n of_o the_o resurrection_n must_v die_v because_o unto_o the_o natural_a man_n as_o such_o there_o never_o even_o eternal_o belong_v any_o resurrection_n even_o be_v prepare_v himself_o for_o death_n and_o utter_v public_o his_o testimony_n concern_v his_o corruption_n and_o his_o eternal_a death_n for_o there_o be_v to_o be_v no_o resurrection_n of_o he_o and_o thus_o also_o to_o he_o may_v together_o with_o the_o keeper_n who_o the_o pharisee_n set_v a_o testimony_n concern_v the_o resurrection_n of_o christ_n be_v give_v which_o also_o by_o this_o
