latter_a be_v to_o be_v perform_v only_o in_o the_o eucharist_n this_o i_o say_v do_v not_o follow_v unless_o it_o can_v be_v prove_v that_o he_o promise_v in_o those_o word_n to_o give_v we_o his_o so_o give_v shall_v afford_v will_v be_v give_v evermore_o not_o only_o in_o the_o eucharist_n but_o in_o the_o whole_a ministration_n of_o the_o gospel_n which_o hold_v forth_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n
remember_v what_o he_o say_v rather_o than_o that_o they_o shall_v understand_v it_o present_o but_o neither_o to_o the_o multitude_n nor_o to_o his_o disciple_n do_v he_o clear_o signify_v the_o reason_n and_o end_n of_o his_o passion_n this_o seem_v to_o be_v one_o of_o those_o thing_n that_o they_o can_v not_o bear_v now_o but_o which_o the_o comforter_n shall_v reveal_v to_o they_o the_o same_o thing_n viz._n believe_v and_o we_o say_v that_o believe_v when_o it_o be_v express_v by_o eat_v his_o flesh_n and_o drink_v his_o blood_n refer_v to_o that_o particular_a object_n of_o faith_n the_o death_n of_o christ_n signify_v by_o the_o separate_a mention_n of_o his_o body_n and_o blood_n but_o eat_v and_o drink_v be_v take_v proper_o do_v not_o signify_v the_o same_o thing_n if_o therefore_o our_o saviour_n be_v to_o be_v understand_v proper_o of_o receive_v he_o in_o the_o eucharist_n by_o eat_v his_o flesh_n and_o drink_v his_o blood_n the_o word_n be_v plain_a beyond_o all_o dispute_n that_o he_o be_v to_o be_v receive_v by_o drink_v his_o blood_n there_o as_o well_o as_o by_o eat_v his_o flesh_n which_o since_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n deny_v to_o the_o laity_n the_o cardinal_n have_v good_a reason_n not_o to_o understand_v these_o word_n of_o the_o eucharist_n be_v concern_v as_o he_o be_v to_o make_v the_o best_a of_o all_o those_o usage_n which_o he_o find_v in_o his_o church_n and_o yet_o i_o doubt_v this_o great_a man_n have_v not_o quite_o deliver_v that_o church_n from_o all_o the_o reproof_n this_o very_a text_n have_v for_o their_o half_a communion_n for_o although_o these_o word_n be_v not_o to_o be_v understand_v proper_o of_o the_o eucharist_n yet_o i_o think_v what_o grotius_n say_v can_v be_v reasonable_o deny_v viz._n that_o here_o be_v a_o tacit_fw-la allusion_n to_o the_o eucharist_n and_o if_o that_o be_v true_a the_o text_n even_o thus_o take_v will_v condemn_v their_o withhold_v the_o cup_n from_o the_o laity_n for_o the_o allusion_n must_v consist_v in_o this_o that_o as_o according_a to_o the_o institution_n of_o the_o eucharist_n the_o holy_a bread_n and_o cup_n be_v separately_z take_v to_o show_v forth_o the_o violent_a death_n of_o christ_n so_o in_o these_o word_n of_o eat_v his_o flesh_n and_o drink_v his_o blood_n the_o believe_v of_o his_o meritorious_a death_n and_o follow_v the_o example_n of_o his_o patience_n etc._n etc._n be_v express_v by_o the_o separate_a mention_n of_o his_o flesh_n and_o blood_n and_o therefore_o of_o eat_v the_o one_o and_o drink_v the_o other_o which_o allusion_n be_v so_o apt_a that_o i_o shall_v not_o wonder_v if_o it_o incline_v those_o that_o inquire_v no_o further_o to_o believe_v that_o our_o saviour_n here_o speak_v of_o the_o eucharist_n but_o since_o the_o separate_a take_n of_o the_o holy_a bread_n and_o the_o holy_a cup_n in_o the_o eucharist_n on_o the_o one_o side_n and_o the_o separate_a mention_n of_o his_o flesh_n and_o blood_n on_o the_o other_o be_v that_o in_o which_o the_o allusion_n consist_v it_o be_v utter_o destroy_v by_o the_o pretend_a concomitance_n i._n e._n by_o give_v the_o body_n and_o blood_n not_o as_o separate_v but_o as_o unite_a or_o by_o give_v the_o body_n and_o blood_n to_o be_v eat_v not_o the_o flesh_n to_o be_v eat_v and_o the_o blood_n to_o be_v drink_v in_o short_a as_o our_o saviour_n do_v sacramental_o represent_v his_o death_n by_o take_v the_o holy_a bread_n and_o the_o holy_a cup_n separately_z and_z giving_z they_o separately_z so_o he_o do_v in_o word_n allude_v to_o that_o sacrament_n represent_v the_o same_o death_n i._n e._n by_o the_o distinct_a mention_n of_o his_o flesh_n and_o blood_n and_o he_o represent_v also_o the_o necessity_n of_o faith_n in_o his_o death_n under_o the_o separation_n of_o his_o flesh_n and_o blood_n and_o then_o i_o desire_v they_o to_o tell_v i_o how_o they_o can_v be_v say_v to_o commemorate_v the_o death_n of_o christ_n by_o receive_v a_o sacrament_n that_o show_v forth_o the_o separation_n of_o his_o body_n and_o blood_n who_o do_v not_o receive_v they_o separate_v but_o unite_v st._n paul_n conclude_v the_o end_n of_o the_o sacrament_n from_o the_o institution_n of_o it_o say_v as_o often_o as_o you_o eat_v this_o bread_n and_o drink_v this_o cup_n you_o do_v show_v the_o lord_n death_n till_o he_o come_v the_o reason_n
