come_v now_o these_o be_v the_o several_a estate_n and_o condition_n of_o man_n the_o question_n be_v what_o be_v the_o true_a only_o or_o adequate_a object_n of_o the_o will_n of_o man_n good_a or_o this_o which_o have_v be_v say_v concern_v our_o captivity_n i_o will_v glad_o that_o in_o a_o word_n or_o two_o you_o shall_v make_v some_o use_n use_v there_o be_v many_o captive_n in_o the_o world_n who_o we_o can_v get_v deliver_v notwithstanding_o we_o will_v labour_v to_o extend_v some_o of_o our_o supply_n to_o they_o for_o first_o we_o can_v upon_o the_o first_o hear_n compassionate_a their_o captivity_n and_o bear_v a_o part_n and_o have_v some_o sympathy_n with_o they_o in_o their_o distress_n second_o we_o can_v sometime_o go_v further_o than_o this_o for_o we_o can_v go_v &_o knock_v at_o the_o prison_n door_n and_o call_v for_o they_o and_o go_v in_o and_o visit_v they_o and_o comfort_v they_o with_o our_o best_a consolation_n we_o can_v go_v somewhat_o further_o yet_o and_o beside_o our_o comfort_n we_o can_v help_v they_o with_o some_o of_o our_o mean_n we_o can_v buy_v bread_n to_o their_o hunger_n and_o drink_v to_o their_o thirst_n and_o clothes_n to_o their_o nakedness_n and_o last_o of_o all_o we_o can_v engage_v ourselves_o for_o their_o deliverance_n and_o by_o our_o engagement_n set_v they_o free_a be_v not_o these_o good_a office_n of_o charity_n and_o true_a strain_n of_o mercy_n yes_o sure_o they_o be_v so_o be_v not_o thou_o then_o much_o behold_v to_o christ_n whosoever_o thou_o be_v that_o be_v set_v free_a from_o the_o bondage_n of_o sin_n for_o he_o have_v do_v all_o these_o to_o thou_o whilst_o thou_o be_v in_o daaknesse_n and_o bondage_n under_o sin_n and_o satan_n he_o do_v first_o pity_n and_o compassionate_v thou_o when_o thou_o have_v no_o pity_n on_o thyself_o and_o even_o then_o when_o thou_o be_v a_o stranger_n and_o enemy_n to_o he_o he_o spread_v his_o skirt_n over_o thou_o and_o for_o drink_v his_o righteousness_n for_o our_o â—…ing_n his_o word_n for_o our_o instruction_n and_o his_o spirit_n for_o our_o guide_n four_o and_o last_o of_o all_o he_o have_v take_v our_o debt_n upon_o he_o and_o pay_v
it_o for_o we_o have_v set_v we_o free_a and_o this_o he_o do_v in_o the_o fullness_n of_o time_n for_o when_o that_o fullness_n come_v god_n send_v his_o own_o son_n make_v of_o woman_n and_o make_v under_o the_o law_n that_o deliver_v we_o that_o be_v under_o the_o law_n that_o we_o may_v receive_v the_o adoption_n of_o son_n for_o god_n sake_n therefore_o see_v whilst_o we_o be_v captive_n he_o have_v do_v so_o much_o for_o our_o deliverance_n forget_v not_o the_o captivity_n of_o thy_o soul_n thyself_o and_o first_o when_o thou_o hear_v it_o tell_v thou_o in_o the_o word_n of_o god_n pity_v it_o second_o at_o all_o occasion_n offer_v not_o snatch_v knock_v at_o thy_o door_n and_o go_v in_o and_o visit_v it_o three_o when_o thou_o have_v see_v it_o cry_v with_o israel_n to_o rehoboam_n to_o make_v thy_o yoke_n light_a and_o in_o the_o end_n though_o thou_o can_v procure_v by_o thyself_o a_o absolute_a deliverance_n yet_o come_v to_o he_o that_o pour_v out_o his_o heart_n blood_n for_o thou_o run_v and_o cry_v for_o thy_o deliverance_n and_o dissolution_n sigh_n and_o groan_n for_o it_o and_o in_o due_a time_n if_o thou_o faint_v not_o thou_o shall_v be_v hear_v in_o that_o which_o thou_o fear_v these_o thing_n be_v thus_o clear_v to_o you_o the_o three_o thing_n that_o we_o be_v to_o remark_n in_o the_o word_n be_v our_o deliverance_n or_o release_n in_o this_o word_n deliver_v now_o that_o we_o may_v know_v this_o deliverance_n the_o better_a it_o shall_v not_o be_v amiss_o to_o distinguish_v deliverance_n into_o three_o several_a sort_n first_o there_o be_v a_o deliverance_n à _fw-fr toto_fw-la second_o à _fw-la tanto_fw-la three_o à _fw-la tali_fw-la our_o deliverance_n à _fw-la toto_fw-la be_v a_o perfect_a deliverance_n both_o from_o temptation_n to_o sin_n practice_n of_o sin_n and_o punishment_n for_o sin_n a_o tante_fw-la be_v not_o perfect_a but_o partial_a from_o so_o much_o of_o temptation_n practice_n or_o punishment_n as_o god_n think_v meet_v and_o expedient_a a_o tali_fw-la be_v that_o whereby_o we_o crave_v exemption_n and_o protection_n from_o sin_n of_o grievous_a quality_n such_o as_o we_o call_v presumptuous_a enormous_a heinous_a and_o cry_v sin_n and_o from_o such_o kind_n of_o punishment_n as_o be_v not_o the_o testimony_n of_o god_n love_n but_o rather_o the_o effect_n of_o his_o wrath_n and_o indignation_n now_o see_v deliverance_n in_o effect_n and_o proper_o be_v a_o actual_a release_n from_o evil_a what_o sort_n of_o deliverance_n do_v we_o crave_v here_o be_v it_o that_o we_o call_v â_fw-la toto_fw-la no_o no_o we_o can_v expect_v a_o total_a and_o perfect_a deliverance_n in_o this_o life_n for_o so_o long_o as_o this_o life_n last_v we_o can_v neither_o be_v total_o free_a from_o sin_n nor_o from_o punishment_n notwithstanding_o because_o of_o this_o same_o possibility_n we_o be_v bind_v to_o cry_v for_o our_o perfect_a deliverance_n by_o death_n second_o as_o for_o that_o deliverance_n which_o be_v â_fw-la tanto_fw-la that_o be_v to_o say_v from_o so_o much_o as_o will_v make_v we_o slave_n to_o sin_n or_o punishment_n for_o this_o we_o cry_v in_o these_o word_n and_o this_o deliverance_n we_o be_v command_v to_o desire_v and_o by_o this_o desire_n we_o be_v distinguish_v from_o the_o reprobate_n for_o whilst_o we_o be_v lead_v captive_a to_o satan_n at_o his_o will_n sin_n rule_v not_o though_o dwell_v in_o our_o mortal_a body_n and_o for_o the_o punishment_n the_o lord_n have_v promise_v not_o to_o tempt_v we_o above_o our_o power_n but_o so_o far_o only_o as_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o bear_v it_o three_o as_o for_o the_o deliverance_n à _fw-fr tali_fw-la that_o be_v to_o say_v from_o blasphemous_a presumptuous_a and_o cry_v sin_n which_o be_v the_o effect_n of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n upon_o the_o child_n of_o disobedience_n from_o these_o and_o such_o as_o these_o we_o cry_v and_o must_v cry_v coutinual_o lord_n deliver_v we_o from_o evil_a use_v know_v further_o that_o whilst_o we_o beg_v of_o god_n a_o deliverance_n from_o evil_a we_o do_v not_o pray_v against_o all_o evil_a of_o sin_n and_o punishment_n but_o so_o much_o of_o punishment_n as_o will_n or_o may_v overwhelm_v we_o and_o such_o sin_n as_o be_v reign_v and_o cry_v in_o we_o shall_v one_o day_n cry_v against_o we_o to_o our_o perpetual_a confusion_n one_o thing_n remain_v to_o wit_n who_o be_v our_o deliverer_n and_o that_o be_v neither_o man_n nor_o angel_n but_o he_o who_o be_v both_o god_n and_o man_n by_o nature_n and_o the_o great_a archangel_n of_o the_o covenant_n by_o office_n in_o who_o three_o thing_n be_v considerable_a his_o right_a and_o title_n to_o do_v it_o his_o wonderful_a power_n in_o do_v of_o it_o and_o last_o the_o exceed_a benefit_n arise_v from_o it_o lect_n 22._o for_o thou_o be_v the_o kingdom_n etc._n etc._n when_o i_o do_v first_o undertake_v the_o explication_n of_o this_o prayer_n i_o tell_v you_o they_o do_v resemble_v a_o house_n or_o edifice_n for_o as_o in_o the_o court_n and_o palace_n of_o prince_n there_o be_v first_o court_n and_o porch_n serve_v for_o entrance_n into_o the_o royal_a presence_n second_o there_o be_v room_n and_o place_n of_o rest_n last_o postern_n and_o passage_n of_o retire_v serve_v both_o for_o pleasure_n &_o necessity_n so_o be_v it_o in_o this_o build_n &_o spiritual_a edifice_n of_o prayer_n for_o in_o it_o there_o be_v three_o distinct_a and_o several_a station_n a_o preface_n serve_v for_o the_o porch_n six_o several_a petition_n serve_v for_o room_n of_o court_n and_o final_o a_o conclusion_n serve_v for_o a_o postern_n or_o terrace_n from_o whence_o we_o may_v in_o a_o view_n behold_v the_o glory_n and_o beauty_n of_o the_o whole_a palace_n of_o the_o preface_n and_o of_o the_o petition_n we_o have_v speak_v already_o according_a to_o the_o measure_n of_o grace_n give_v we_o from_o above_o it_o rest_v now_o only_o that_o in_o this_o sermon_n we_o take_v a_o view_n of_o the_o conclusion_n and_o from_o it_o draw_v up_o the_o full_a and_o final_a seal_n of_o all_o the_o prayer_n and_o from_o both_o their_o edification_n when_o i_o look_v on_o the_o word_n i_o find_v in_o they_o three_o thing_n remarkable_a first_o their_o inference_n second_o their_o tenor_n and_o scope_n and_o three_o their_o seal_n the_o inference_n be_v in_o the_o word_n for_o the_o tenor_n be_v thou_o be_v the_o kingdom_n power_n and_o glory_n for_o ever_o the_o seal_n in_o the_o word_n amen_o let_v we_o return_v then_o to_o their_o inference_n in_o the_o word_n for._n here_o it_o be_v evident_a that_o this_o conclusion_n or_o last_o part_n of_o the_o prayer_n be_v knit_v and_o tie_v to_o the_o former_a petition_n with_o a_o causal_n particle_n for_o for_o the_o better_a understanding_n whereof_o let_v we_o know_v that_o against_o the_o necessity_n and_o use_n of_o this_o prayer_n prescribe_v unto_o we_o a_o objection_n may_v be_v move_v by_o the_o weakness_n and_o infirmity_n of_o man_n for_o let_v we_o look_v on_o the_o best_a of_o the_o child_n of_o god_n when_o he_o censure_v and_o examine_v his_o own_o soul_n and_o parallele_v his_o practice_n with_o the_o desire_n of_o these_o petition_n and_o we_o shall_v find_v that_o he_o shall_v come_v far_o short_a of_o that_o which_o be_v require_v of_o he_o for_o when_o we_o look_v on_o the_o three_o first_o petition_n which_o concern_v god_n the_o honour_n of_o his_o name_n the_o advancement_n of_o his_o kingdom_n and_o the_o obedience_n of_o his_o will_n who_o be_v able_a to_o give_v that_o due_a obedience_n thereunto_o which_o be_v require_v of_o he_o not_o one_o for_o god_n himself_o have_v thus_o complain_v against_o man_n the_o lord_n look_v down_o from_o heaven_n and_o behold_v the_o action_n of_o man_n to_o see_v if_o there_o be_v any_o that_o will_v seek_v after_o he_o and_o do_v good_a and_o he_o can_v find_v none_o no_o not_o one_o against_o this_o it_o be_v that_o the_o prophet_n complain_v in_o the_o name_n of_o god_n and_o for_o his_o sake_n who_o have_v believe_v our_o report_n and_o to_o who_o be_v the_o arm_n of_o god_n revedle_v final_o it_o be_v against_o disobedience_n and_o rebellion_n that_o the_o saint_n of_o god_n have_v so_o deeoply_n sigh_v and_o groan_v for_o their_o deliverance_n david_n can_v say_v alas_o i_o have_v dwell_v toe_n long_o in_o the_o valley_n of_o mesech_n and_o tent_n of_o kedar_n and_o the_o apostle_n paul_n can_v say_v miserable_a man_n that_o i_o be_o who_o shall_v dâ—…ver_v i_o from_o this_o body_n of_o
