he_o do_v appeal_v to_o the_o adversary_n themselves_o how_o such_o a_o inference_n as_o this_o can_v follow_v such_o a_o proposition_n he_o do_v not_o say_v positive_o that_o they_o can_v live_v in_o glorify_v god_n in_o their_o body_n and_o spirit_n and_o what_o be_v the_o argument_n by_o which_o he_o will_v persuade_v they_o to_o it_o you_o be_v buy_v with_o a_o price_n but_o will_v some_o say_v it_o seem_v i_o be_o buy_v and_o the_o price_n be_v lay_v down_o for_o i_o now_o i_o be_o sure_a enough_o i_o be_o safe_a the_o gate_n of_o hell_n can_v prevail_v against_o i_o i_o may_v live_v as_o i_o listen_v for_o no_o danger_n will_v follow_v now_o i_o may_v take_v liberty_n to_o sin_n now_o if_o the_o apostle_n have_v know_v that_o this_o consequence_n will_v just_o have_v follow_v upon_o the_o preach_n of_o this_o crace_n he_o have_v deal_v very_o discourteous_o with_o the_o people_n of_o god_n and_o absurd_o by_o enforce_v a_o conclusion_n from_o a_o ground_n contrary_n to_o it_o by_o reveal_v such_o a_o doctrine_n as_o this_o be_v therefore_o sure_o the_o apostle_n will_v never_o have_v use_v this_o expression_n of_o be_v buy_v with_o a_o price_n if_o he_o have_v know_v that_o this_o will_v follow_v but_o contrariwise_o he_o know_v that_o there_o be_v no_o way_n in_o the_o world_n will_v so_o much_o prevail_v with_o god_n people_n to_o leave_v their_o sin_n as_o by_o tell_v they_o before_o hand_n that_o their_o sin_n be_v forgive_v they_o and_o that_o they_o be_v buy_v with_o a_o price_n in_o 2_o titus_n from_o the_o begin_n to_o the_o 12._o v._o you_o shall_v find_v how_o the_o apostle_n urge_v titus_n that_o he_o press_v a_o holy_a conversation_n answerable_a to_o old_a man_n and_o old_a woman_n as_o also_o to_o young_a woman_n and_o young_a man_n and_o also_o a_o conversation_n suitable_a to_o servant_n and_o especial_o he_o write_v concern_v they_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o purloin_v from_o their_o master_n but_o show_v all_o faithfulness_n but_o what_o be_v the_o argument_n now_o by_o which_o the_o apostle_n urge_v all_o these_o thing_n upon_o these_o man_n see_v in_o the_o 12._o and_o 13._o verse_n and_o you_o shall_v find_v that_o the_o argument_n be_v the_o same_o we_o have_v now_o in_o hand_n for_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n say_v he_o that_o bring_v salvation_n have_v appear_v teach_v we_o to_o deny_v all_o ungodliness_n and_o worldly_a lust_n and_o that_o we_o shall_v live_v righteous_o sober_o and_o godly_a in_o this_o present_a world_n as_o much_o as_o to_o say_v the_o lord_n have_v make_v know_v and_o reveal_v his_o salvation_n to_o you_o and_o you_o see_v it_o before_o you_o salvation_n be_v bring_v unto_o you_o and_o not_o your_o well-doing_n but_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n be_v
apostle_n say_v there_o express_o to_o will_n be_v present_a with_o i_o but_o how_o to_o perform_v that_o which_o be_v good_a i_o find_v not_o i_o delight_v in_o the_o law_n of_o god_n in_o the_o do_v that_o do_v i._o though_o the_o apostle_n be_v overtake_v yet_o his_o heart_n be_v towards_o god_n still_o when_o he_o do_v evil_a his_o heart_n say_v plain_o it_o be_v not_o with_o my_o consent_n when_o he_o can_v not_o do_v good_a his_o heart_n tell_v he_o it_o be_v for_o lack_v of_o power_n and_o not_o because_o he_o do_v not_o desire_v it_o now_o come_v to_o person_n that_o walk_v exact_o as_o the_o apostle_n do_v they_o be_v overtake_v with_o a_o sin_n what_o be_v there_o comfort_v when_o they_o do_v sin_n though_o i_o be_v overtake_v the_o frame_n of_o my_o heart_n be_v apostle_n be_v in_o at_o that_o time_n i_o ask_v but_o this_o do_v you_o not_o draw_v comfort_n still_o from_o the_o plea_n of_o this_o disposition_n your_o spirit_n do_v make_v when_o you_o have_v commit_v a_o sin_n do_v you_o not_o fetch_v comfort_n from_o thence_o ask_v your_o heart_n and_o they_o will_v answer_v yea_o we_o have_v do_v so_o and_o we_o may_v do_v so_o i_o beseech_v you_o consider_v it_o well_o when_o the_o apostle_n have_v argue_v the_o case_n thus_o what_o be_v the_o final_a conclusion_n and_o the_o sole_a refuge_n that_o he_o do_v fly_v unto_o or_o the_o plea_n that_o he_o will_v trust_v unto_o for_o his_o deliverance_n and_o comfort_n he_o do_v not_o say_v in_o the_o conclusion_n i_o thank_v god_n to_o will_v be_v present_a with_o i_o i_o thank_v god_n my_o heart_n be_v in_o a_o good_a frame_n and_o temper_n though_o i_o be_v overtake_v i_o say_v paul_n do_v not_o make_v use_n of_o this_o plea_n but_o he_o betake_v himself_o to_o this_o i_o thank_v gâ—d_v through_o jesus_n christ_n and_o there_o be_v no_o condemnation_n to_o they_o that_o be_v in_o christ_n and_o it_o be_v the_o law_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o life_n that_o be_v in_o christ_n have_v free_v i_o from_o the_o law_n of_o sin_n and_o death_n so_o that_o the_o whole_a refuge_n of_o the_o apostle_n be_v not_o any_o inward_a disposition_n as_o if_o he_o can_v plead_v out_o comfort_n unto_o himself_o therefrom_o but_o the_o plea_n be_v without_o himself_o even_o in_o christ_n and_o therefore_o he_o give_v thanks_o unto_o christ_n for_o deliverance_n so_o in_o the_o 2._o chapter_n to_o the_o philippian_n you_o shall_v hear_v the_o apostle_n towards_o the_o beginning_n of_o the_o chapter_n plead_v the_o same_o thing_n there_o as_o he_o do_v here_o namely_o that_o it_o find_v in_o he_o not_o have_v my_o own_o righteousness_n which_o be_v of_o the_o law_n but_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n which_o be_v by_o faith_n in_o jesus_n christ_n sure_o belove_v if_o the_o apostle_n have_v reckon_v that_o his_o righteousness_n can_v have_v have_v any_o force_n in_o plea_n he_o will_v never_o have_v reject_v it_o as_o dung_n that_o man_n that_o think_v he_o have_v strength_n in_o a_o argument_n will_v not_o fling_v that_o argument_n away_o and_o not_o make_v mention_n of_o it_o for_o the_o trial_n of_o his_o cause_n if_o he_o think_v there_o be_v any_o power_n in_o it_o but_o this_o the_o apostle_n do_v he_o account_v his_o righteousness_n dung_n even_o the_o righteousness_n of_o he_o after_o he_o be_v convert_v and_o in_o that_o regard_n he_o dare_v not_o be_v find_v in_o that_o but_o only_o in_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n which_o be_v by_o faith_n in_o christ_n he_o do_v not_o simple_o say_v he_o will_v not_o be_v find_v in_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n but_o exclusive_o also_o he_o will_v not_o be_v find_v in_o his_o own_o righteousness_n so_o that_o he_o bâ—â—s_v out_o his_o own_o righteousness_n quite_o there_o shall_v no_o plea_n at_o all_o go_v along_o through_o his_o own_o righteousness_n the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n shall_v speak_v for_o his_o plea_n or_o else_o he_o will_v look_v for_o no_o good_a issue_n at_o all_o this_o belove_v be_v the_o way_n let_v i_o give_v one_o touch_n by_o way_n of_o application_n you_o may_v easy_o perceive_v how_o mighty_o people_n be_v mistake_v and_o therefore_o no_o marvel_n they_o do_v live_v so_o uncomfortable_o no_o marvel_n they_o be_v in_o fear_n of_o death_n and_o thereby_o in_o bondage_n all_o their_o life_n long_o while_o they_o run_v for_o the_o refreshment_n of_o their_o spirit_n to_o their_o own_o righteousness_n to_o the_o plea_n of_o their_o own_o work_n and_o will_v have_v their_o heart_n ease_v upon_o that_o righteousness_n that_o they_o themselves_o do_v whereas_o nothing_o get_v a_o gracious_a discharge_n from_o their_o father_n but_o only_o christ_n and_o his_o righteousness_n therefore_o belove_v how_o ever_o it_o may_v go_v with_o some_o for_o a_o harsh_a thing_n to_o take_v man_n off_o from_o their_o own_o righteousness_n in_o respect_n of_o speak_a comfort_n unto_o they_o and_o to_o lead_v they_o to_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n reveal_v in_o the_o gospel_n as_o that_o from_o which_o they_o may_v draw_v all_o their_o comfort_n though_o this_o may_v find_v harsh_a to_o some_o people_n that_o have_v not_o be_v train_v up_o in_o the_o way_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o in_o the_o freeness_n of_o it_o reveal_v in_o the_o gospel_n yet_o i_o doubt_v not_o but_o in_o time_n the_o lord_n will_v be_v please_v to_o reveal_v to_o we_o that_o run_v to_o christ_n out_o of_o ourselves_o and_o disclaim_v of_o our_o own_o righteousness_n and_o seek_v of_o comfort_n from_o it_o that_o leave_v our_o own_o action_n and_o all_o that_o can_v be_v imagine_v to_o be_v in_o we_o or_o can_v be_v do_v by_o we_o will_v be_v the_o thing_n that_o in_o the_o end_n will_v establish_v our_o heart_n and_o spirit_n yea_o and_o fill_v they_o with_o joy_n and_o peace_n in_o believe_v it_o remain_v that_o we_o shall_v further_o confâ—ler_n one_o thing_n that_o i_o know_v startle_v some_o person_n or_o at_o least_o lay_v block_n in_o their_o way_n before_o i_o can_v possible_o come_v unto_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n itself_o that_o make_v up_o the_o strength_n of_o plea_n with_o god_n for_o poor_a creature_n object_n some_o will_v object_v though_o all_o that_o we_o do_v of_o our_o own_o will_v not_o hold_v plea_n yet_o there_o be_v a_o righteousness_n of_o faith_n will_v some_o say_v and_o that_o plead_v with_o the_o father_n and_o that_o get_v the_o discharge_n of_o sin_n from_o the_o father_n beloved_n there_o be_v some_o dispute_n about_o this_o point_n and_o i_o shall_v not_o desire_v to_o enter_v into_o it_o i_o shall_v only_o in_o a_o few_o thing_n endeavour_v to_o clear_v up_o the_o truth_n as_o clear_a as_o possible_o i_o may_v that_o i_o may_v go_v on_o answ_n i_o answer_v in_o general_a so_o far_o forth_o as_o the_o righteousness_n of_o faith_n be_v the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n there_o be_v strength_n in_o the_o plea_n of_o that_o
