he_o be_v in_o the_o sun_n than_o a_o more_o large_a fullness_n of_o light_n and_o so_o they_o that_o come_v unto_o christ_n they_o be_v near_o christ_n they_o be_v nigh_o unto_o he_o john_n 6.56_o he_o that_o eat_v my_o flesh_n and_o drink_v my_o blood_n dwell_v in_o i_o and_o i_o in_o he_o he_o abide_v in_o i_o and_o dwell_v in_o i_o the_o soul_n therefore_o that_o come_v to_o christ_n must_v water_n of_o life_n for_o we_o can_v as_o much_o as_o will_v or_o think_v or_o speak_v of_o ourselves_o not_o so_o much_o as_o to_o have_v a_o good_a thought_n and_o 2._o jesus_n christ_n will_v have_v it_o so_o because_o it_o be_v his_o pleasure_n and_o delight_n 3._o it_o must_v needs_o be_v so_o because_o of_o that_o invitation_n that_o jesus_n christ_n do_v here_o make_v unto_o poor_a soul_n that_o come_v unto_o he_o thus_o far_o i_o have_v proceed_v before_o i_o come_v to_o the_o application_n there_o be_v only_o one_o thing_n will_v be_v clear_v as_o a_o objection_n by_o the_o way_n and_o that_o be_v take_v from_o the_o saint_n objection_n do_v we_o say_v there_o be_v such_o a_o fullness_n in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o will_v he_o give_v out_o a_o large_a and_o full_a supply_n unto_o all_o that_o come_v to_o he_o and_o that_o free_o how_o can_v this_o stand_v with_o the_o experience_n of_o they_o that_o be_v true_a believer_n that_o true_o come_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n they_o be_v so_o sensible_a of_o their_o own_o want_n weakness_n and_o their_o own_o defect_n of_o grace_n as_o what_o more_o frequent_a complaint_n and_o who_o do_v more_o frequent_o complain_v than_o true_a believer_n and_o there_o be_v never_o a_o true_a believe_a soul_n that_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n but_o be_v sensible_a of_o some_o defect_n or_o want_n or_o other_o and_o have_v not_o attain_v to_o perfection_n and_o the_o more_o and_o near_o he_o come_v to_o christ_n still_o the_o more_o sensible_a of_o his_o defect_n and_o want_n o_o none_o so_o weak_a as_o i_o be_o none_o so_o poor_a in_o grace_n as_o i_o be_o none_o so_o weak_a in_o faith_n so_o want_v in_o love_n in_o humility_n in_o patience_n and_o in_o meekness_n as_o i_o and_o o_o none_o have_v such_o a_o cold_a heart_n such_o a_o dead_a heart_n such_o a_o unfruitful_a heart_n as_o i_o have_v you_o will_v say_v where_o be_v this_o same_o full_a supply_n then_o shall_v all_o that_o come_v to_o christ_n have_v a_o full_a supply_n how_o can_v these_o thing_n be_v what_o shall_v we_o say_v then_o that_o those_o that_o make_v such_o complaint_n as_o these_o be_v not_o true_a believer_n no_o god_n forbid_v or_o shall_v we_o say_v that_o this_o truth_n that_o jesus_n christ_n have_v speak_v be_v not_o truth_n why_o where_o be_v then_o this_o same_o full_a supply_n how_o can_v this_o stand_v to_o be_v a_o truth_n that_o all_o that_o do_v come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v have_v a_o full_a supply_n and_o shall_v drink_v abundant_o and_o shall_v drink_v free_o when_o he_o say_v every_o one_o that_o come_v unto_o i_o shall_v drink_v of_o the_o water_n of_o life_n and_o that_o free_o do_v not_o many_o believer_n fear_v that_o their_o sin_n will_v be_v their_o ruin_n and_o fear_v condemnation_n sometime_o now_o how_o do_v this_o stand_n with_o this_o full_a supply_n which_o be_v to_o be_v have_v in_o christ_n i_o shall_v clear_v this_o by_o answer_v to_o two_o or_o three_o thing_n answer_v 1_o first_o every_o believe_a soul_n that_o come_v to_o jesus_n christ_n have_v drink_v such_o a_o draught_n of_o this_o same_o water_n of_o life_n that_o he_o be_v free_v for_o ever_o from_o condemnation_n he_o shall_v never_o die_v or_o perish_v or_o be_v condemn_v for_o sin_n no_o he_o be_v free_v from_o all_o condemnation_n the_o poor_a the_o weak_a the_o mean_a have_v drink_v a_o full_a supply_n that_o it_o shall_v never_o perish_v by_o its_o sin_n it_o be_v pass_v from_o death_n to_o life_n there_o be_v no_o condemnation_n none_o unto_o they_o now_o that_o they_o be_v in_o christ_n jesus_n no_o condemnation_n to_o the_o poor_a and_o mean_a believer_n and_o now_o all_o their_o sin_n be_v forgive_v there_o be_v a_o full_a forgiveness_n those_o sin_n shall_v never_o be_v lay_v to_o their_o charge_n and_o as_o the_o holy_a ghost_n say_v i_o will_v be_v merciful_a unto_o their_o unrighteousness_n their_o sin_n and_o their_o iniquity_n will_v i_o remember_v no_o more_o and_o the_o blood_n of_o jesus_n christ_n be_v able_a to_o cleanse_v we_o from_o all_o our_o sin_n it_o be_v true_a indeed_o a_o believer_n that_o have_v drink_v of_o this_o same_o water_n of_o life_n and_o that_o be_v free_v from_o all_o his_o sin_n he_o may_v be_v possible_o be_v exercise_v with_o fear_n and_o possible_o his_o assurance_n and_o his_o apprehension_n of_o his_o justification_n to_o himself_o may_v have_v some_o cloud_n upon_o it_o he_o may_v be_v exercise_v with_o cloud_n may_v fear_v his_o go_v down_o into_o the_o pit_n though_o there_o be_v no_o real_a ground_n of_o it_o for_o indeed_o he_o be_v free_v from_o all_o the_o guilt_n of_o these_o for_o he_o be_v now_o pass_v from_o death_n to_o life_n john_n 11.26_o he_o that_o believe_v in_o i_o shall_v never_o die_v that_o be_v his_o very_a temporal_a death_n shall_v be_v but_o as_o a_o sleep_n to_o he_o the_o sting_n be_v take_v out_o and_o he_o shall_v never_o die_v eternal_o and_o so_o the_o fowl_n in_o the_o air_n to_o lodge_v in_o so_o our_o inward_a man_n be_v renew_v day_n by_o day_n as_o it_o will_v spring_v up_o increase_n and_o grow_v more_o and_o more_o though_o yet_o he_o that_o have_v drink_v of_o the_o spirit_n have_v not_o the_o full_a perfection_n of_o it_o at_o once_o but_o may_v desire_v more_o yet_o notwithstanding_o he_o have_v so_o much_o as_o he_o shall_v never_o be_v dry_a again_o that_o be_v whole_o destitute_a but_o shall_v grow_v up_o and_o increase_v and_o spring_n and_o let_v i_o add_v only_o a_o three_o thing_n answer_v 3_o you_o will_v say_v the_o saint_n have_v not_o a_o full_a draught_n and_o full_a supply_n because_o they_o complain_v i_o answer_v that_o though_o here_o they_o be_v in_o a_o state_n of_o imperfection_n and_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o a_o daily_a supply_n be_v sensible_a of_o their_o own_o defect_n and_o weakness_n yet_o every_o believe_a soul_n have_v drink_v so_o much_o of_o the_o water_n of_o life_n as_o now_o he_o have_v right_a and_o title_n unto_o the_o inheritance_n of_o glory_n where_o there_o be_v such_o fullness_n of_o joy_n as_o he_o shall_v be_v satisfy_v and_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o desire_v any_o more_o psal_n 16.11_o thou_o will_v show_v i_o the_o path_n of_o life_n in_o thy_o presence_n be_v fullness_n of_o joy_n and_o at_o thy_o right_a hand_n be_v pleasure_n for_o evermore_o they_o shall_v have_v joy_n as_o much_o as_o they_o can_v hold_v every_o vessel_n shall_v be_v fill_v with_o glory_n so_o full_a as_o it_o can_v hold_v no_o more_o they_o shall_v enjoy_v as_o much_o as_o ever_o they_o be_v able_a to_o hold_v or_o contain_v every_o vessel_n shall_v be_v full_a of_o glory_n the_o beginning_n of_o eternal_a life_n be_v here_o and_o though_o possible_o they_o may_v consummation_n of_o it_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o desire_v one_o draught_n one_o jot_n more_o so_o he_o that_o believe_v on_o i_o out_o of_o his_o belly_n shall_v flow_v river_n of_o live_a water_n spring_v up_o unto_o eternal_a life_n so_o much_o for_o that_o objection_n now_o for_o the_o application_n of_o the_o point_n use_v 1_o you_o see_v what_o christ_n say_v in_o the_o man_n and_o woman_n young_a man_n and_o old_a and_o child_n that_o be_v capable_a of_o knowledge_n know_v it_o that_o jesus_n christ_n do_v invite_v every_o one_o of_o you_o that_o stand_v before_o all_o the_o word_n that_o i_o testify_v among_o you_o this_o day_n set_v your_o heart_n to_o this_o invitation_n of_o jesus_n christ_n to_o the_o word_n that_o be_v now_o sound_v in_o your_o ear_n for_o it_o be_v your_o life_n jesus_n christ_n do_v bring_v eternal_a life_n to_o your_o door_n to_o your_o heart_n do_v not_o look_v upon_o they_o as_o if_o they_o be_v word_n of_o course_n and_o that_o he_o be_v real_a and_o you_o be_v ready_a to_o accept_v of_o his_o invitation_n because_o you_o think_v he_o mean_v as_o he_o say_v why_o so_o now_o be_v it_o know_v unto_o you_o that_o jesus_n christ_n do_v make_v a_o invitation_n to_o all_o here_o every_o one_o in_o the_o congregation_n this_o day_n to_o come_v unto_o he_o and_o you_o shall_v have_v a_o supply_n of_o this_o water_n of_o life_n suppose_v now_o that_o jesus_n christ_n be_v here_o present_a speak_v these_o word_n as_o he_o do_v with_o his_o own_o mouth_n in_o the_o hear_n of_o thousand_o and_o suppose_v now_o that_o if_o jesus_n christ_n be_v here_o in_o his_o bodily_a presence_n do_v you_o not_o think_v you_o shall_v believe_v and_o give_v entertainment_n to_o what_o he_o speak_v behold_v jesus_n christ_n now_o speak_v in_o his_o word_n to_o all_o that_o be_v here_o present_a as_o he_o speak_v to_o all_o that_o be_v present_a then_o and_o make_v proclamation_n say_v be_v any_o man_n athirst_a be_v there_o any_o that_o do_v desire_v this_o water_n of_o life_n that_o do_v desire_n to_o have_v their_o sin_n pardon_v and_o forgive_v they_o that_o do_v desire_n to_o be_v free_v from_o condemnation_n that_o do_v desire_n to_o be_v adopt_v son_n and_o daughter_n of_o god_n to_o have_v peace_n with_o god_n to_o have_v comfort_n and_o consolation_n in_o life_n and_o death_n and_o to_o have_v everlasting_a eternal_a glory_n when_o life_n shall_v be_v no_o more_o know_v jesus_n christ_n hold_v forth_o all_o this_o whatsoever_o be_v requisite_a to_o eternal_a life_n jesus_n christ_n do_v invite_v you_o to_o this_o and_o hold_v forth_o and_o promise_v to_o give_v a_o full_a draught_n of_o it_o to_o all_o that_o ever_o will_v come_v to_o he_o therefore_o let_v no_o poor_a soul_n lay_v impediment_n and_o block_n in_o its_o own_o way_n to_o hinder_v he_o from_o come_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n objection_n but_o may_v one_o say_v i_o be_o afraid_a that_o i_o shall_v presume_v if_o i_o shall_v come_v unto_o christ_n and_o therefore_o i_o dare_v not_o venture_v answer_n o_o let_v not_o any_o soul_n think_v so_o nor_o say_v so_o to_o hinder_v any_o of_o your_o soul_n from_o come_v know_v it_o that_o if_o jesus_n christ_n have_v make_v no_o invitation_n to_o you_o to_o come_v than_o you_o may_v very_o well_o say_v it_o be_v presumption_n indeed_o for_o i_o to_o come_v but_o jesus_n christ_n invite_v thou_o himself_z in_o his_o word_n and_o promise_n that_o if_o you_o do_v come_v you_o shall_v have_v of_o this_o water_n of_o life_n and_o that_o free_o suppose_v a_o great_a rich_a man_n shall_v invite_v a_o poor_a man_n to_o his_o table_n and_o he_o come_v be_v invite_v will_v you_o say_v this_o be_v presumption_n when_o he_o speak_v to_o he_o himself_o and_o if_o he_o shall_v not_o come_v it_o be_v rather_o a_o slight_n and_o despise_v his_o favour_n and_o love_n why_o jesus_n christ_n hold_v forth_o a_o free_a invitation_n tender_v it_o and_o promise_v it_o to_o any_o one_o soul_n that_o will_v come_v unto_o he_o upon_o his_o invitation_n and_o therefore_o let_v nothing_o stave_v thou_o off_o see_v he_o have_v make_v a_o full_a and_o free_a invitation_n unto_o every_o one_o to_o come_v indeed_o objection_n but_o alas_o i_o do_v not_o know_v that_o i_o be_o invite_v christ_n invite_v i_o what_o i_o i_o be_o altogether_o unworthy_a to_o be_v invite_v to_o partake_v of_o this_o water_n of_o life_n alas_o so_o poor_a a_o creature_n so_o ignorant_a and_o so_o blind_a and_o so_o without_o strength_n as_o i_o be_o unable_a to_o perform_v any_o duty_n no_o strength_n and_o nothing_o at_o all_o to_o commend_v i_o unto_o the_o lord_n or_o why_o the_o lord_n shall_v give_v i_o the_o least_o drop_n of_o the_o water_n of_o life_n and_o therefore_o certain_o it_o be_v not_o to_o i_o jesus_n christ_n do_v not_o invite_v i_o answer_n i_o say_v let_v not_o this_o impediment_n lie_v in_o thy_o way_n because_o we_o have_v no_o strength_n or_o ability_n to_o do_v or_o to_o please_v or_o to_o serve_v he_o in_o any_o way_n why_o alas_o do_v you_o think_v now_o that_o jesus_n christ_n call_v for_o any_o price_n invite_v people_n and_o then_o they_o must_v bring_v money_n in_o their_o hand_n no_o brethren_n you_o be_v much_o mistake_v jesus_n christ_n do_v invite_v to_o come_v without_o money_n or_o without_o any_o price_n whoever_o you_o be_v though_o you_o be_v never_o so_o weak_a and_o unable_a to_o perform_v any_o duty_n or_o service_n and_o never_o do_v any_o thing_n for_o the_o lord_n yet_o you_o shall_v come_v and_o brethren_n the_o more_o unfit_a we_o be_v in_o ourselves_o and_o the_o less_o we_o have_v of_o ourselves_o and_o the_o more_o sensible_a we_o be_v of_o our_o own_o
unfitness_n this_o shall_v rather_o be_v so_o far_o from_o hinder_v and_o discourage_v we_o as_o that_o it_o shall_v encourage_v we_o to_o come_v why_o because_o that_o have_v nothing_o and_o christ_n be_v the_o fullness_n of_o all_o we_o shall_v go_v unto_o christ_n for_o all_o as_o rev._n 3.18_o say_v christ_n thou_o be_v poor_a and_o naked_a blind_a and_o miserable_a and_o have_v nothing_o wherefore_o come_v to_o i_o i_o counsel_v thou_o to_o come_v to_o i_o for_o ay_o salve_n and_o for_o raiment_n gold_n and_o treasure_n and_o riches_n why_o here_o now_o be_v christ_n argument_n on_o the_o contrary_a why_o brethren_n he_o fill_v the_o hungry_a and_o the_o empty_a with_o good_a thing_n and_o they_o be_v to_o come_v to_o christ_n jesus_n christ_n invite_v such_o poor_a soul_n as_o have_v nothing_o at_o all_o no_o ability_n at_o all_o a_o poor_a blind_a creature_n if_o one_o be_v more_o blind_a and_o unable_a and_o more_o ignorant_a than_o another_o here_o be_v the_o invitation_n that_o jesus_n christ_n do_v make_v this_o day_n to_o such_o a_o poor_a soul_n that_o he_o shall_v if_o he_o come_v he_o shall_v drink_v and_o he_o shall_v have_v of_o this_o water_n of_o life_n objection_n but_o another_o objection_n be_v alas_o i_o be_o a_o poor_a old_a creature_n a_o old_a man_n or_o a_o old_a woman_n that_o have_v live_v without_o god_n and_o without_o christ_n all_o this_o time_n and_o have_v slight_v the_o offer_n of_o grace_n and_o all_o the_o invitation_n of_o christ_n in_o his_o gospel_n and_o also_o a_o poor_a old_a sinner_n and_o will_v jesus_n christ_n invite_v i_o i_o possible_o have_v be_v a_o drunkard_n and_o a_o old_a drunkard_n and_o a_o swearer_n and_o a_o blasphemer_n of_o the_o name_n of_o god_n and_o the_o way_n of_o christ_n and_o can_v i_o think_v that_o ever_o christ_n shall_v entertain_v i_o when_o i_o come_v answer_n why_o now_o mark_v what_o i_o say_v unto_o you_o in_o a_o word_n from_o the_o lord_n let_v not_o any_o one_o here_o except_o himself_o and_o exclude_v himself_o if_o jesus_n christ_n do_v not_o except_v and_o exclude_v he_o look_v into_o the_o invitation_n do_v jesus_n christ_n exclude_v and_o say_v let_v every_o one_o come_v to_o i_o except_o he_o be_v a_o old_a drunkard_n or_o a_o old_a swearer_n no_o he_o do_v not_o say_v so_o he_o exclude_v none_o see_v how_o the_o word_n run_v if_o any_o man_n will_v come_v he_o shall_v drink_v if_o any_o man_n without_o exception_n can_v you_o have_v it_o speak_v more_o full_a or_o in_o plain_a term_n if_o any_o man_n will_v come_v unto_o i_o he_o shall_v drink_v john_n 6.35_o 36_o 37._o say_v jesus_n there_o i_o be_o the_o bread_n of_o life_n he_o that_o come_v unto_o i_o shall_v not_o hunger_n and_o he_o that_o believe_v on_o i_o shall_v never_o objection_n but_o to_o object_v further_o alas_o i_o have_v no_o strength_n nor_o power_n and_o i_o be_o unworthy_a to_o come_v and_o therefore_o it_o be_v but_o a_o folly_n to_o make_v such_o a_o invitation_n unto_o i_o and_o i_o have_v no_o power_n answer_n you_o have_v hear_v before_o what_o it_o be_v to_o come_v to_o christ_n viz._n to_o venture_v and_o cast_v yourself_o upon_o christ_n invitation_n in_o his_o promise_n and_o the_o soul_n now_o venture_v to_o lean_v upon_o christ_n word_n and_o to_o trust_v christ_n upon_o his_o word_n and_o to_o expect_v what_o christ_n hold_v forth_o in_o his_o word_n this_o be_v a_o come_n unto_o christ_n you_o know_v what_o the_o prodigal_n be_v and_o when_o the_o lord_n see_v a_o poor_a soul_n afar_o off_o he_o meet_v he_o and_o strengthen_v he_o and_o encourage_v he_o and_o lead_v he_o by_o the_o hand_n and_o uphold_v he_o objection_n ay_o but_o you_o will_v say_v alas_o i_o be_o willing_a to_o come_v to_o christ_n but_o i_o have_v no_o word_n and_o a_o soul_n can_v come_v to_o christ_n unless_o the_o lord_n give_v out_o some_o promise_n secret_o to_o draw_v the_o heart_n to_o christ_n and_o i_o can_v remember_v that_o nor_o for_o righteousness_n nor_o of_o judgement_n that_o be_v one_o signification_n of_o the_o word_n to_o reprove_v or_o rebuke_v 2._o sometime_o the_o word_n signify_v to_o make_v manifest_a or_o to_o make_v evident_a to_o make_v apparent_a so_o you_o shall_v find_v it_o john_n 3.20_o 21._o every_o one_o that_o do_v evil_a hate_v the_o light_n neither_o come_v to_o the_o light_n lest_o his_o deed_n shall_v be_v reprove_v or_o make_v manifest_a and_o it_o be_v expound_v in_o the_o next_o verse_n make_v manifest_a but_o he_o that_o do_v truth_n come_v to_o the_o light_n that_o his_o deed_n may_v be_v made_n manifest_a that_o they_o be_v wrought_v in_o god_n it_o be_v the_o same_o word_n here_o in_o the_o text._n but_o this_o can_v be_v the_o meaning_n of_o this_o word_n in_o the_o text_n that_o he_o shall_v make_v manifest_a sin_n and_o make_v manifest_a righteousness_n and_o make_v manifest_a judgement_n though_o there_o be_v a_o truth_n in_o that_o yet_o this_o can_v be_v the_o full_a intendment_n of_o this_o word_n in_o this_o place_n 3._o there_o be_v another_o signification_n of_o it_o and_o that_o be_v to_o convince_v and_o so_o it_o be_v in_o the_o margin_n he_o shall_v convince_v the_o world_n of_o sin_n of_o righteousness_n and_o of_o judgement_n and_o so_o i_o remember_v it_o be_v john_n 8.46_o say_v christ_n there_o which_o of_o you_o do_v convince_v i_o of_o sin_n it_o be_v the_o same_o word_n he_o do_v not_o say_v which_o of_o you_o charge_v i_o with_o sin_n for_o they_o do_v charge_v he_o with_o sin_n enough_o and_o they_o do_v reprove_v and_o rebuke_v he_o for_o sin_n they_o say_v he_o be_v a_o blasphemer_n therefore_o that_o can_v be_v the_o meaning_n of_o the_o word_n to_o charge_n or_o reprove_v he_o of_o sin_n but_o which_o of_o you_o can_v convince_v i_o of_o sin_n to_o make_v it_o apparent_a without_o gainsaying_n that_o i_o be_o guilty_a of_o any_o sin_n and_o so_o i_o think_v that_o place_n tit._n 1.9_o hold_v fast_o the_o faithful_a word_n as_o he_o have_v be_v teach_v that_o he_o may_v be_v able_a by_o sound_a doctrine_n both_o to_o exhort_v and_o to_o convince_v the_o gainsayers_a and_o so_o i_o shall_v take_v it_o in_o this_o sense_n all_o along_o when_o the_o comforter_n be_v come_v he_o shall_v assist_v you_o in_o your_o ministry_n so_o as_o he_o shall_v thereby_o convince_v the_o world_n of_o sin_n of_o righteousness_n and_o of_o judgement_n ii_o what_o do_v he_o mean_v by_o the_o world_n not_o the_o whole_a universe_n the_o fabric_n of_o heaven_n and_o earth_n no_o that_o can_v be_v the_o meaning_n of_o it_o but_o it_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v of_o man_n the_o world_n of_o man_n of_o sinful_a man_n man_n that_o be_v guilty_a of_o sin_n and_o more_o particular_o by_o the_o world_n we_o may_v understand_v the_o unbelieving_a world_n a_o company_n of_o unbeliever_n now_o unbeliever_n they_o may_v some_o of_o they_o be_v elect_v and_o be_v elect_v and_o shall_v be_v bring_v to_o believe_v in_o christ_n in_o time_n through_o the_o gospel_n and_o some_o of_o they_o be_v not_o elect_v and_o shall_v never_o be_v bring_v to_o believe_v in_o christ_n now_o which_o of_o these_o do_v christ_n here_o mean_a when_o he_o speak_v of_o the_o world_n whether_o he_o mean_v only_o those_o unbeliever_n that_o be_v elect_v and_o shall_v be_v bring_v on_o to_o believe_v so_o some_o think_v or_o whether_o he_o mean_v the_o unbeliever_n of_o the_o world_n that_o be_v never_o elect_v and_o shall_v never_o be_v bring_v to_o believe_v in_o christ_n so_o other_o true_o i_o see_v nothing_o to_o the_o contrary_n but_o we_o may_v include_v both_o namely_o unbeliever_n that_o be_v not_o elect_v the_o holy_a ghost_n shall_v come_v and_o convince_v they_o of_o sin_n though_o they_o shall_v go_v no_o further_o there_o may_v be_v conviction_n where_o no_o conversion_n follow_v and_o this_o be_v the_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o convince_v of_o sin_n and_o he_o shall_v also_o convince_v unbeliever_n that_o be_v elect_v convince_v they_o effectual_o so_o as_o they_o shall_v be_v bring_v on_o to_o conversion_n and_o i_o think_v especial_o and_o chief_o our_o saviour_n here_o mean_v those_o unbeliever_n in_o the_o world_n that_o be_v elect_v though_o i_o will_v not_o exclude_v the_o other_o but_o those_o especial_o that_o be_v elect_v and_o shall_v be_v bring_v on_o through_o conviction_n and_o conversion_n to_o salvation_n for_o christ_n do_v speak_v these_o word_n by_o way_n of_o comfort_n to_o the_o disciple_n that_o the_o spirit_n shall_v come_v and_o assist_v they_o in_o their_o ministry_n it_o be_v some_o comfort_n indeed_o if_o any_o be_v convince_v but_o that_o be_v not_o so_o much_o comfort_n as_o to_o be_v convince_v and_o effectual_o wrought_v upon_o to_o salvation_n and_o this_o comfort_n christ_n do_v hold_v forth_o as_o a_o antidote_n against_o their_o sadness_n and_o sorrow_n upon_o his_o go_v away_o and_o then_o he_o shall_v convince_v the_o world_n of_o sin_n of_o righteousness_n and_o of_o judgement_n i_o shall_v not_o now_o come_v to_o speak_v particular_o to_o open_v these_o in_o particular_a to_o you_o but_o only_o thus_o much_o in_o short_a to_o show_v you_o how_o the_o world_n be_v convince_v by_o the_o apostle_n ministry_n immediate_o after_o christ_n ascension_n into_o heaven_n the_o world_n be_v then_o convince_v the_o world_n of_o the_o unbelieve_a jew_n be_v convince_v of_o sin_n of_o righteousness_n and_o of_o judgement_n look_v but_o into_o that_o sermon_n act_v 2._o which_o be_v preach_v upon_o the_o occasion_n determinate_a counsel_n of_o god_n you_o have_v take_v and_o by_o wicked_a hand_n have_v crucify_v and_o slay_v he_o tell_v they_o plain_o that_o they_o be_v guilty_a of_o murder_v the_o son_n of_o god_n and_o they_o be_v so_o convince_v at_o this_o word_n that_o they_o do_v not_o gainsay_v it_o but_o be_v prick_v in_o their_o heart_n thus_o they_o be_v convince_v of_o sin_n that_o they_o do_v not_o believe_v in_o christ_n but_o instead_o of_o believe_v they_o murder_v he_o and_o then_o they_o be_v convince_v also_o of_o righteousness_n namely_o of_o christ_n righteousness_n that_o christ_n be_v a_o righteous_a person_n who_o they_o crucify_v and_o slay_v verse_n 22._o you_o man_n of_o israel_n hear_v these_o word_n jesus_n of_o nazareth_n a_o man_n approve_v of_o god_n by_o sign_n and_o wonder_n and_o miracle_n which_o god_n do_v by_o he_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o you_o as_o yourselves_o know_v the_o apostle_n here_o hold_v forth_o that_o he_o be_v a_o righteous_a person_n and_o they_o crucify_v a_o righteous_a person_n and_o what_o have_v they_o to_o say_v against_o this_o no_o they_o be_v silent_a they_o lay_v their_o hand_n upon_o their_o mouth_n and_o afterward_o their_o hand_n come_v upon_o their_o heart_n and_o they_o be_v prick_v at_o the_o heart_n and_o now_o they_o be_v convince_v of_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n and_o also_o of_o judgement_n that_o now_o he_o that_o soul_n will_v be_v unstable_a its_o comfort_n will_v be_v unstable_a and_o though_o he_o may_v hold_v up_o his_o head_n so_o long_o as_o all_o be_v calm_a and_o clear_a above_o he_o but_o when_o the_o assault_n of_o the_o devil_n come_v and_o the_o power_n of_o hell_n be_v let_v loose_a upon_o it_o to_o try_v its_o foundation_n if_o the_o foundation_n be_v not_o deep_o root_v all_o the_o building_n will_v come_v to_o nothing_o it_o be_v like_o a_o plant_n or_o tree_n that_o be_v plant_v but_o shallow_a in_o the_o ground_n and_o will_v be_v apt_a to_o wither_v so_o christ_n compare_v it_o mat._n 13.21_o the_o seed_n that_o fall_v upon_o the_o stony_a ground_n spring_v up_o for_o a_o while_n but_o when_o the_o sun_n do_v rise_v when_o temptation_n come_v scorch_a temptation_n and_o tribulation_n and_o trial_n come_v they_o wither_v away_o because_o they_o want_v depth_n of_o earth_n for_o the_o root_n they_o have_v no_o root_n they_o be_v not_o humble_v and_o convince_v of_o sin_n they_o take_v up_o a_o profession_n and_o confess_v christ_n and_o profess_a christ_n but_o never_o be_v true_o convince_v of_o sin_n and_o this_o be_v the_o great_a reason_n why_o professor_n be_v subject_a to_o so_o many_o doubt_n and_o scruple_n about_o their_o condition_n when_o they_o come_v into_o sickness_n and_o danger_n than_o they_o be_v ready_a to_o question_v their_o condition_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o possible_o this_o may_v be_v one_o because_o they_o be_v never_o convince_v true_o of_o sin_n by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o therefore_o you_o see_v now_o upon_o all_o these_o account_n that_o conviction_n of_o sin_n be_v very_o necessary_a for_o sinner_n in_o order_n to_o their_o conversion_n and_o salvation_n so_o now_o i_o have_v finish_v the_o second_o thing_n propound_v i_o shall_v now_o have_v come_v to_o the_o three_o thing_n to_o show_v you_o that_o convince_a of_o sin_n be_v the_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n but_o that_o and_o some_o other_o thing_n i_o must_v leave_v till_o another_o opportunity_n the_o holy_a ghost_n convince_v of_o sin_n sermon_n v._n john_n 16.9_o of_o sin_n because_o they_o believe_v not_o on_o i_o you_o have_v hear_v the_o coherence_n of_o these_o word_n before_o and_o therefore_o i_o shall_v not_o trouble_v you_o with_o that_o and_o the_o point_v you_o may_v remember_v what_o it_o be_v that_o be_v last_o propound_v from_o these_o word_n namely_o that_o it_o be_v the_o very_a first_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o order_n to_o salvation_n to_o convince_v the_o soul_n of_o sin_n for_o so_o christ_n here_o be_v comfort_v of_o his_o disciple_n against_o their_o sorrow_n upon_o his_o departure_n from_o they_o and_o he_o tell_v they_o that_o he_o will_v send_v the_o comforter_n to_o they_o and_o he_o tell_v they_o what_o the_o comforter_n shall_v do_v he_o shall_v assist_v they_o in_o their_o ministry_n towards_o the_o conversion_n and_o salvation_n of_o soul_n and_o the_o first_o thing_n he_o shall_v do_v he_o shall_v convince_v the_o world_n of_o sin_n and_o then_o of_o righteousness_n and_o then_o of_o judgement_n but_o this_o be_v his_o first_o work_n to_o convince_v the_o world_n of_o sin_n there_o be_v four_o thing_n propound_v to_o be_v speak_v to_o for_o the_o clear_n of_o this_o point_n 1._o to_o show_v you_o what_o we_o be_v to_o understand_v by_o this_o conviction_n of_o sin_n which_o be_v the_o first_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o wherein_o it_o lay_v and_o that_o you_o hear_v in_o three_o thing_n 2._o you_o hear_v the_o necessity_n of_o it_o why_o this_o work_n of_o convince_a of_o sin_n be_v so_o necessary_a in_o order_n to_o conversion_n and_o salvation_n you_o hear_v the_o necessity_n of_o it_o in_o five_o or_o six_o thing_n upon_o which_o account_n it_o be_v necessary_a in_o order_n to_o salvation_n to_o be_v convince_v of_o sin_n well_o there_o be_v two_o thing_n yet_o remain_v to_o be_v speak_v to_o for_o the_o open_n of_o this_o point_n 3._o the_o three_o thing_n be_v to_o show_v that_o this_o work_n of_o convince_a of_o sin_n be_v the_o proper_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n nothing_o short_a of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n can_v real_o and_o true_o convince_v the_o soul_n of_o sin_n in_o order_n to_o salvation_n and_o then_o 4._o that_o it_o be_v not_o only_o the_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n but_o the_o first_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o order_n to_o salvation_n these_o two_o thing_n i_o shall_v now_o proceed_v to_o through_o the_o lord_n assistance_n 3._o well_o then_o we_o be_v to_o fall_v upon_o the_o three_o to_o make_v it_o evident_a to_o you_o that_o the_o work_n of_o convince_a of_o sin_n be_v the_o proper_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n and_o how_o do_v that_o appear_v brief_o i_o shall_v give_v you_o two_o or_o three_o demonstration_n of_o it_o 1._o it_o appear_v from_o the_o opposition_n that_o be_v in_o every_o carnal_a heart_n to_o be_v convince_v of_o sin_n there_o be_v a_o desperate_a opposition_n in_o our_o heart_n natural_o we_o be_v utter_o averse_a and_o unwilling_a to_o be_v convince_v of_o sin_n we_o be_v loath_a to_o come_v to_o the_o
