by_o god_n in_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n that_o be_v in_o the_o marvelous_a work_n of_o god_n which_o be_v wrought_v by_o he_o it_o please_v god_n by_o the_o foolishness_n of_o preach_v to_o save_v those_o which_o beeleeve_v for_o the_o jew_n require_v sign_n and_o the_o greek_n seek_v wisdom_n but_o we_o preach_v christ_n crucify_v unto_o the_o jew_n a_o offence_n and_o unto_o the_o greek_n foolishness_n but_o unto_o both_o jew_n and_o greek_n which_o be_v call_v we_o preach_v christ_n the_o power_n of_o god_n and_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god._n paul_n in_o this_o place_n dissever_v the_o wisdom_n of_o the_o world_n or_o man_n wisdom_n from_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god._n for_o in_o that_o that_o god_n send_v his_o son_n bear_v of_o a_o woman_n make_v bond_n unto_o the_o law_n and_o subject_v to_o most_o bitter_a passion_n and_o death_n it_o seem_v unto_o man_n not_o wisdom_n but_o foolishness_n forasmuch_o as_o god_n by_o his_o omnipotency_n can_v easy_o find_v another_o way_n to_o save_v mankind_n but_o it_o seem_v far_o otherwise_o unto_o god_n yea_o that_o which_o man_n esteem_v foolishness_n that_o god_n esteem_v and_o account_v for_o wisdom_n but_o that_o we_o may_v more_o full_o understande_v these_o thing_n let_v we_o seek_v us._n the_o foundation_n of_o this_o the_o so_o wonderful_a counsel_n of_o god_n whereupon_o we_o may_v build_v safe_o although_o god_n if_o we_o consider_v the_o greatness_n of_o his_o power_n can_v do_v whatsoever_o he_o will_v yet_o notwithstanding_o it_o seem_v good_a to_o he_o to_o attempt_v nothing_o in_o this_o matter_n but_o can_v not_o bee_n or_o be_v call_v god_n may_v stand_v together_o and_o consent_n in_o the_o hy_a degree_n namely_o most_o high_a or_o perfect_n power_n perfect_a righteousness_n perfect_n mercy_n and_o perfect_n wisdom_n such_o a_o secret_a purpose_n please_v god_n therefore_o that_o his_o only_a beget_v son_n shall_v take_v unto_o he_o man_n nature_n and_o dye_v to_o the_o end_n that_o who_o so_o believe_v in_o he_o may_v obtain_v salvation_n and_o life_n everlasting_a so_o that_o if_o god_n have_v use_v his_o omnipotency_n and_o justice_n he_o have_v for_o ever_o condemn_v all_o man_n who_o through_o their_o rebellion_n have_v offend_v the_o eternal_a majesty_n of_o god_n and_o be_v therefore_o subject_a &_o guilty_a of_o eternal_a death_n and_o hel._n but_o what_o have_v then_o through_o y_z e_z whole_a circle_n of_o the_o world_n by_o the_o ministry_n whereof_o he_o be_v effectual_a through_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o out_o of_o all_o mankind_n gather_v unto_o himself_o a_o church_n which_o he_o govern_v and_o conserve_v by_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n the_o sacrament_n discipline_n and_o ceremony_n so_o that_o whersoever_o these_o four_o the_o foundation_n be_v uncorrupt_a be_v find_v sound_a &_o perfect_a there_o must_v of_o necessity_n be_v the_o christian_a congregation_n although_o in_o that_o outward_a company_n certain_a dead_a member_n be_v adjoin_v which_o do_v boast_v of_o the_o title_n of_o the_o church_n in_o vain_a in_o this_o his_o church_n christ_n offer_v by_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o gospel_n his_o grace_n to_o all_o man_n according_a to_o this_o his_o commandment_n go_v you_o into_o all_o the_o world_n 16._o &_o preach_v the_o gospel_n to_o all_o creature_n item_n luke_n 24._o repentance_n and_o remission_n of_o sin_n must_v be_v preach_v in_o my_o name_n to_o all_o nation_n therefore_o when_o thou_o hear_v by_o this_o voice_n of_o the_o gospel_n forgiveness_n of_o sin_n and_o life_n everlasting_a through_o christ_n to_o be_v offer_v unto_o thou_o think_v thus_o in_o thy_o mind_n with_o thyself_o here_o christ_n offer_v i_o grace_n and_o salvation_n in_o his_o word_n which_o he_o himself_o by_o the_o universal_a preach_n of_o repentance_n be_v and_o remission_n of_o sin_n in_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n as_o he_o himself_o say_v so_o it_o be_v write_v 24._o &_o so_o it_o behove_v christ_n to_o suffer_v and_o rise_v again_o from_o death_n the_o three_o day_n and_o repentance_n and_o remission_n of_o sin_n among_o all_o nation_n to_o be_v preach_v in_o his_o name_n this_o preach_v christ_n call_v the_o gopell_n that_o be_v to_o say_v a_o joyful_a message_n by_o the_o which_o be_v offer_v unto_o all_o man_n believe_v in_o he_o aswell_o jew_n as_o gentile_n these_o good_a thing_n namely_o deliverance_n from_o the_o curse_n of_o the_o law_n and_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n remission_n of_o sin_n salvation_n and_o life_n everlasting_a and_o that_o without_o all_o merit_n of_o man_n for_o his_o death_n &_o passion_n that_o whosoever_o be_v make_v partaker_n of_o these_o benefit_n may_v with_o heart_n mouth_n and_o life_n set_v forth_o the_o honour_n of_o god._n this_o definition_n of_o the_o gospel_n contain_v four_o member_n the_o first_o be_v the_o universal_a commandment_n of_o god_n to_o all_o man_n which_o who_o so_o will_v not_o hear_v contemn_v god_n and_o make_v himself_o guilty_a again_o of_o death_n everlasting_a the_o second_o be_v that_o as_o the_o gospel_n do_v offer_v unto_o man_n forgiveness_n of_o sin_n righteousness_n salvation_n and_o eternal_a life_n so_o they_o whosoever_o shall_v not_o receive_v the_o same_o do_v remain_v in_o sin_n unrighteousness_n condemnation_n and_o eternal_a death_n the_o third_o be_v that_o these_o benefit_n be_v offer_v free_o unto_o all_o man_n without_o all_o respect_n of_o person_n nation_n and_o humane_a condition_n for_o christ_n will_v have_v all_o man_n save_v as_o many_o as_o desire_v to_o obtain_v the_o gospel_n be_v in_o stead_n of_o a_o hand_n by_o which_o he_o reach_v forth_o his_o benefit_n unto_o we_o so_o on_o our_o part_n faith_n be_v in_o place_n of_o a_o hand_n which_o receive_v christ_n be_v offer_v with_o all_o his_o benefit_n but_o that_o it_o may_v be_v understand_v what_o the_o true_a nature_n of_o faith_n be_v i_o will_v first_o set_v down_o so_o manifest_a a_o definition_n of_o the_o same_o that_o doubt_n may_v be_v leave_v unto_o no_o man_n what_o the_o true_a and_o christian_a faith_n be_v furthermore_o i_o will_v rehearse_v the_o natural_a property_n of_o faith_n by_o which_o every_o one_o may_v easy_o perceive_v whether_o he_o have_v the_o true_a and_o natural_a faith_n or_o no._n when_o john_n baptist_n pronounce_v he_o which_o believe_v in_o the_o son_n 3._o to_o have_v eternal_a life_n he_o give_v warning_n that_o the_o same_o be_v not_o else_o where_o to_o be_v seek_v for_o he_o which_o have_v the_o son_n have_v the_o way_n to_o everlasting_a life_n the_o son_n be_v the_o way_n as_o he_o himself_o say_v i_o be_o the_o way_n moreover_o he_o which_o have_v the_o son_n have_v the_o gate_n of_o life_n according_a to_o that_o say_n i_o be_o the_o door_n furthermore_o he_o which_o have_v the_o son_n have_v the_o merit_n of_o eternal_a life_n for_o the_o son_n do_v not_o merit_v eternal_a life_n for_o himself_o to_o who_o by_o right_a it_o be_v due_a but_o for_o his_o that_o be_v to_o say_v for_o those_o which_o believe_v in_o he_o beside_o this_o he_o which_o have_v the_o son_n have_v with_o the_o son_n all_o thing_n for_o 8._o he_o which_o spare_v not_o his_o own_o son_n but_o give_v he_o for_o we_o all_o how_o shall_v he_o not_o also_o give_v we_o all_o thing_n with_o he_o to_o conclude_v he_o which_o have_v good_a thing_n and_o commodity_n of_o the_o child_n of_o god_n or_o of_o the_o church_n be_v that_o god_n himself_o be_v in_o she_o as_o a_o most_o lightsome_a sun_n for_o even_o as_o from_o this_o visible_a sun_n there_o come_v unto_o the_o world_n light_n heat_n and_o shine_v beam_n whereby_o all_o thing_n be_v quicken_v and_o cherish_v so_o from_o god_n which_o be_v the_o sun_n invisible_a there_o come_v unto_o the_o church_n light_n that_o be_v to_o say_v clear_a knowledge_n of_o god_n there_o come_v heat_n 13._o that_o be_v affection_n burn_v with_o faith_n hope_n and_o love_n and_o shine_a beam_n which_o be_v the_o manifold_a consolation_n whereby_o the_o faithful_a soul_n be_v relieve_v cherish_v and_o comfort_v this_o sun_n as_o it_o rise_v to_o such_o as_o fear_v god_n so_o it_o set_v to_o the_o negligent_a the_o wicked_a lyver_n and_o the_o careless_a it_o be_v therefore_o with_o great_a diligence_n to_o be_v take_v heed_n of_o that_o the_o godly_a through_o a_o certain_a sluggishness_n of_o their_o own_o in_o hear_v or_o read_v the_o word_n of_o god_n wherein_o this_o sun_n bright_o shine_v do_v not_o suffer_v this_o sun_n to_o be_v either_o darken_v or_o hide_v from_o they_o for_o as_o this_o visible_a sun_n if_o it_o shall_v seem_v to_o a_o sick_a body_n in_o his_o dream_n to_o be_v hide_v or_o darken_v there_o be_v danger_n as_o hypocrates_n affirm_v of_o most_o certain_a death_n to_o the_o sick_a body_n to_o be_v at_o hand_n so_o if_o our_o sun_n christ_n be_v darken_v unto_o we_o his_o doctrine_n be_v either_o abolish_v or_o obscure_v
