show_v that_o our_o time_n of_o sojourn_v here_o must_v not_o afford_v any_o thing_n of_o value_n to_o divert_v our_o heart_n from_o aim_v at_o our_o eternal_a habitation_n of_o rest_n where_o we_o be_v to_o expect_v more_o felicity_n than_o we_o now_o know_v how_o to_o wish_v for_o but_o this_o the_o regenerate_v man_n can_v only_o understand_v who_o know_v the_o felicity_n of_o piety_n and_o find_v there_o be_v no_o security_n on_o earth_n but_o in_o love_v fear_v and_o serve_v god_n which_o assure_v he_o of_o a_o place_n in_o heaven_n and_o give_v he_o a_o comfortable_a passage_n thither_o clvi_o if_o man_n do_v consider_v their_o christian_a calling_n and_o the_o miraculous_a plantation_n of_o the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n by_o twelve_o illiterate_a man_n who_o be_v teach_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n for_o the_o conversion_n of_o the_o then_o heathen_a world_n we_o shall_v now_o have_v more_o active_a faith_n then_o general_o appear_v by_o the_o life_n of_o man_n for_o though_o we_o be_v not_o call_v to_o a_o severe_a bloody_a martyrdom_n as_o in_o the_o primitive_a age_n to_o justify_v our_o faith_n by_o torment_n unto_o death_n but_o by_o the_o great_a mercy_n of_o god_n our_o require_a martyrdom_n be_v now_o so_o gentle_a in_o comparison_n of_o their_o suffering_n that_o we_o be_v only_o call_v to_o obedience_n and_o faith_n only_o to_o own_o what_o those_o bless_a martyr_n die_v for_o so_o that_o if_o we_o prefer_v god_n glory_n and_o his_o service_n before_o our_o own_o carnal_a appetite_n we_o shall_v resist_v all_o temptation_n to_o lust_n and_o vanity_n which_o offend_v god_n and_o destroy_v our_o present_a felicity_n also_o when_o this_o easy_a happy_a martyrdom_n of_o sin_n be_v only_o require_v of_o we_o to_o repent_v past_a crime_n and_o forbear_v to_o repeat_v they_o we_o shall_v receive_v in_o lieu_n thereof_o god_n favour_n here_o and_o eternal_a joy_n in_o heaven_n clvii_o a_o frequent_a consideration_n of_o our_o state_n towards_o god_n show_v we_o the_o best_a prospect_n towards_o heaven_n and_o do_v teach_v we_o the_o way_n thither_o and_o beget_v holy_a desire_n on_o the_o expectation_n of_o our_o future_a joy_n and_o such_o consideration_n also_o give_v we_o the_o prospect_n of_o those_o everlasting_a flame_n that_o attend_v we_o in_o hell_n if_o we_o run_v on_o in_o sin_v and_o will_v terrify_v our_o heart_n with_o the_o expectation_n of_o future_a torment_n if_o we_o neither_o value_v god_n promise_n nor_o fear_v his_o threat_n so_o that_o nothing_o can_v be_v more_o concern_v to_o mankind_n then_o frequent_a and_o serious_a consideration_n of_o all_o we_o say_v do_v and_o â—â—â—nk_v clviii_o to_o fear_n to_o die_v be_v a_o contradiction_n to_o our_o faith_n and_o all_o the_o zeal_n we_o profess_v to_o god_n when_o we_o fear_v to_o be_v with_o he_o in_o glory_n and_o by_o which_o we_o undervalue_v christ_n purchase_n of_o a_o place_n in_o heaven_n for_o we_o by_o prefer_v our_o abode_n here_o before_o eternal_a happiness_n with_o he_o which_o we_o can_v nâ—ver_o obtain_v but_o by_o die_v clix_o no_o considerate_a man_n can_v pretend_v to_o fear_n god_n and_o do_v what_o he_o be_v sure_o will_v offend_v he_o nor_o can_v he_o think_v that_o he_o love_v god_n when_o by_o commit_v wilful_a know_v sin_n he_o contemn_v his_o law_n nor_o can_v he_o believe_v that_o he_o have_v any_o argument_n to_o trust_v in_o god_n who_o do_v neither_o love_n fear_v nor_o serve_v he_o as_o he_o ought_v nor_o can_v pretend_v to_o any_o parcel_n of_o divine_a graâ—e_n or_o comfort_n in_o death_n if_o he_o live_v and_o die_v in_o his_o habitual_a course_n of_o sin_v clx_o why_o do_v christian_n fear_v to_o die_v but_o because_o we_o do_v not_o live_v after_o christian_a principle_n which_o neglect_n beget_v infidelity_n and_o make_v we_o doubt_n to_o go_v unto_o christ_n else_o we_o can_v not_o fear_v to_o be_v with_o he_o who_o sit_v at_o god_n right_a hand_n in_o heaven_n and_o where_o we_o may_v participate_v of_o his_o eternal_a glory_n if_o we_o live_v after_o his_o gospel_n rule_v here_o by_o which_o we_o shall_v scorn_v the_o terror_n of_o death_n and_o make_v our_o day_n on_o earth_n also_o as_o happy_a as_o long_o but_o if_o we_o go_v on_o in_o voluptuous_a iniquity_n pamper_v up_o for_o the_o day_n of_o slaughter_n it_o will_v be_v no_o wonder_n that_o we_o tremble_v at_o our_o dissolution_n and_o the_o approach_n of_o the_o terrible_a day_n of_o judgement_n but_o if_o we_o live_v ready_a to_o die_v and_o fit_a to_o step_v into_o eternity_n the_o grave_n will_v prove_v easy_a than_o a_o long_a life_n if_o compare_v with_o the_o short_a pleasure_n of_o our_o best_a worldly_a enjoyment_n that_o keep_v our_o heart_n from_o heaven_n clxi_o frequent_a consideration_n of_o our_o eternity_n do_v beget_v a_o due_a examination_n of_o our_o heart_n whether_o god_n be_v there_o to_o direct_v and_o support_v we_o in_o our_o way_n to_o heaven_n or_o if_o satan_n govern_v what_o a_o dismal_a eternity_n we_o be_v haste_v to_o so_o that_o to_o have_v god_n always_o in_o our_o sight_n by_o a_o frequent_a examination_n of_o our_o heart_n we_o may_v check_v the_o first_o appearance_n of_o evil_a with_o the_o thought_n of_o eternal_a condemnation_n but_o if_o goodness_n inhabit_v here_o then_o to_o cherish_v such_o thought_n as_o will_v blow_v the_o holy_a fire_n into_o flame_a zeal_n and_o declare_v a_o interest_n in_o christ_n and_o by_o a_o daily_a custom_n thus_o to_o retire_v and_o consider_v of_o our_o salvation_n will_v â—ill_v our_o heart_n with_o such_o a_o please_a habit_n of_o holiness_n as_o will_v bring_v god_n home_o to_o we_o who_o will_v not_o permit_v a_o wicked_a thought_n where_o he_o be_v please_v to_o dwell_v clxii_o if_o we_o do_v due_o consider_v that_o our_o transparent_a heart_n do_v show_v our_o most_o secret_a thought_n to_o god_n we_o shall_v not_o so_o often_o provoke_v he_o to_o anger_n by_o put_v our_o evil_a thought_n into_o action_n this_o will_v be_v of_o great_a use_n if_o by_o practice_n we_o can_v bring_v our_o heart_n to_o be_v as_o transparent_a to_o our_o self_n as_o they_o be_v to_o god_n and_o will_v in_o a_o little_a time_n obtain_v grace_n to_o cast_v out_o wicked_a fancy_n as_o fast_o as_o satan_n can_v suggest_v they_o or_o our_o own_o fancy_n create_v they_o which_o then_o will_v leave_v no_o sting_n behind_o to_o poison_v heart_n so_o strong_o guard_v clxiii_o we_o ought_v to_o be_v ever_o mindful_a that_o true_a religion_n be_v to_o lead_v a_o divine_a life_n and_o will_v beget_v divine_a love_n in_o our_o heart_n to_o god_n and_o to_o endeavour_v to_o endear_v ourselves_o so_o as_o to_o become_v capable_a of_o his_o love_n to_o we_o though_o we_o can_v never_o be_v worthy_a of_o it_o we_o shall_v not_o fail_v to_o have_v it_o if_o we_o sincere_o desire_v it_o clxiv_o the_o gospel_n say_v that_o our_o saviour_n die_v to_o satisfy_v god_n for_o the_o sin_n of_o all_o mankind_n that_o true_o repent_v and_o amend_v and_o do_v steadfast_o believe_v that_o if_o we_o do_v so_o all_o our_o sin_n how_o many_o and_o how_o great_a so_o ever_o shall_v be_v forgive_v we_o we_o must_v then_o inquire_v of_o our_o own_o heart_n for_o the_o truth_n of_o our_o repentance_n whether_o we_o shall_v find_v argument_n to_o doubt_n or_o to_o believe_v ourselves_o to_o be_v in_o the_o number_n of_o they_o that_o christ_n come_v to_o bless_v by_o turn_v we_o from_o our_o iniquity_n and_o than_o it_o will_v be_v our_o duty_n as_o a_o effect_n of_o our_o faith_n to_o believe_v we_o be_v among_o such_o penitent_a sinner_n as_o christ_n have_v redeem_a with_o his_o blood_n and_o will_v be_v no_o presumption_n to_o think_v we_o shall_v have_v place_n in_o heaven_n on_o his_o account_n if_o we_o come_v
