redeemer_n second_o exhortation_n the_o next_o duty_n i_o will_v press_v upon_o you_o be_v to_o be_v compassionate_a and_o to_o put_v on_o tender_a bowel_n of_o pity_n towards_o those_o that_o yet_o be_v bind_v in_o the_o fetter_n and_o chain_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o guilt_n while_o you_o do_v rejoice_v in_o that_o you_o be_v free_a do_v not_o forget_v to_o commiserate_v they_o that_o yet_o be_v captive_n 1._o let_v minister_n think_v of_o this_o when_o they_o be_v study_v for_o and_o pray_v for_o and_o preach_v to_o their_o people_n how_o they_o be_v in_o bondage_n and_o in_o slavery_n hand_n and_o foot_n and_o cast_v into_o a_o place_n of_o outer_a and_o eternal_a darkness_n some_o serious_a and_o believe_a thought_n of_o their_o present_a danger_n and_o their_o future_a misery_n will_v put_v more_o life_n into_o all_o we_o do_v for_o their_o recovery_n and_o prevention_n of_o their_o everlasting_a condemnation_n shall_v we_o then_o preach_v unto_o they_o with_o such_o lukewarmness_n as_o if_o we_o be_v tell_v they_o a_o tale_n or_o say_v such_o thing_n in_o that_o manner_n as_o if_o we_o do_v not_o believe_v ourselves_o the_o thing_n we_o do_v declare_v or_o as_o if_o it_o be_v no_o matter_n whether_o our_o hearer_n do_v believe_v receive_v and_o obey_v the_o message_n we_o deliver_v to_o they_o or_o no_o when_o yet_o they_o be_v the_o great_a and_o weighty_a 10._o where_o god_n do_v plain_o say_v and_o positive_o lay_v down_o for_o a_o certain_a truth_n and_o which_o within_o a_o few_o year_n or_o month_n or_o week_n all_o the_o drunkard_n whoremonger_n and_o graceless_a person_n in_o the_o world_n without_o exception_n of_o any_o one_o die_v so_o shall_v find_v to_o be_v so_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o inherit_v the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n come_v then_o you_o that_o say_v you_o hope_v to_o be_v save_v as_o well_o as_o the_o precise_a of_o you_o all_o come_v and_o produce_v your_o reason_n and_o in_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n serious_o weigh_v the_o answer_n that_o shall_v be_v give_v to_o they_o 1._o one_o link_n in_o this_o chain_n of_o false_a hope_n by_o which_o these_o captive_n be_v bind_v be_v misapprehension_n and_o misapplication_n of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n thou_o say_v god_n be_v a_o merciful_a god_n and_o be_v ready_a to_o show_v mercy_n to_o his_o creature_n it_o be_v true_a in_o i_o there_o be_v no_o merit_n but_o in_o god_n there_o be_v mercy_n and_o god_n do_v not_o make_v his_o creature_n to_o damn_v they_o god_n do_v make_v i_o and_o therefore_o i_o hope_v that_o he_o will_v save_v i_o be_v this_o all_o thou_o have_v to_o say_v in_o such_o a_o weighty_a matter_n why_o thou_o think_v thou_o be_v redeem_v from_o thy_o bondage_n and_o shall_v be_v free_a for_o ever_o from_o the_o torment_n of_o the_o damn_a that_o thou_o may_v be_v no_o long_o bind_v with_o this_o chain_n consider_v 1._o the_o devil_n themselves_o and_o the_o damn_a soul_n in_o hell_n themselves_o can_v say_v as_o much_o as_o this_o poor_a damn_a devil_n do_v know_v that_o god_n be_v a_o merciful_a god_n and_o that_o he_o be_v willing_a to_o show_v mercy_n to_o the_o penitent_a and_o the_o humble_a sinner_n devil_n and_o damn_a soul_n can_v say_v that_o they_o be_v god_n creature_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o they_o be_v miserable_a and_o must_v be_v so_o for_o ever_o and_o this_o be_v the_o aggravation_n of_o their_o misery_n that_o though_o god_n be_v merciful_a yet_o they_o be_v for_o ever_o damn_v this_o cut_v they_o to_o the_o heart_n that_o a_o merciful_a god_n have_v condemn_v they_o and_o sentence_v they_o down_o to_o eternal_a torment_n what_o be_v that_o to_o they_o that_o god_n be_v merciful_a in_o himself_o and_o show_v mercy_n unto_o other_o if_o he_o be_v not_o merciful_a unto_o they_o and_o what_o be_v it_o unto_o thou_o that_o god_n be_v so_o if_o thou_o by_o reason_n of_o thy_o continuance_n in_o a_o state_n of_o unregeneracy_n shall_v never_o be_v benefit_v by_o his_o mercy_n i_o know_v there_o be_v a_o difference_n betwixt_o the_o damn_a in_o hell_n and_o wicked_a man_n on_o earth_n the_o damn_a in_o hell_n be_v past_o a_o possibility_n of_o mercy_n but_o so_o be_v not_o you_o they_o shall_v have_v no_o more_o tender_n of_o mercy_n which_o you_o yet_o have_v but_o than_o you_o must_v repent_v and_o be_v convert_v which_o they_o be_v not_o or_o else_o you_o shall_v that_o shall_v be_v save_v as_o by_o the_o way_n and_o method_n which_o he_o save_v they_o by_o if_o god_n have_v save_v but_o one_o man_n out_o of_o all_o the_o many_o million_o of_o mankind_n without_o his_o own_o desert_n and_o contrary_a to_o it_o by_o the_o death_n of_o his_o own_o son_n it_o will_v have_v be_v a_o plain_a demonstration_n of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n must_v thou_o measure_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n by_o thy_o be_v save_v or_o not_o save_v while_o thou_o walk_v contrary_a to_o his_o law_n and_o to_o he_o reveal_v will_n this_o be_v as_o if_o a_o malefactor_n that_o for_o murder_n have_v deserve_v death_n and_o be_v to_o be_v try_v for_o his_o life_n yet_o hope_v he_o shall_v escape_v because_o the_o judge_n be_v a_o merciful_a man_n when_o notwithstanding_o the_o judge_n proceed_v to_o pass_v a_o sentence_n of_o death_n upon_o he_o you_o will_v all_o acknowledge_v he_o may_v be_v a_o very_a merciful_a man_n and_o that_o the_o prisoner_n be_v a_o fool_n from_o the_o mercy_n of_o the_o judge_n to_o be_v confident_a he_o shall_v escape_v the_o execution_n due_a unto_o he_o for_o the_o violation_n of_o the_o law_n so_o it_o be_v in_o this_o case_n which_o be_v easy_a to_o apply_v 3._o god_n be_v just_a and_o true_a as_o well_o as_o merciful_a and_o gracious_a and_o why_o may_v thou_o not_o fear_v that_o god_n will_v damn_v thou_o because_o he_o be_v a_o just_a god_n as_o well_o as_o hope_v that_o he_o will_v save_v thou_o because_o he_o be_v a_o merciful_a god_n you_o do_v not_o conceive_v of_o god_n aright_o when_o you_o consider_v he_o to_o be_v merciful_a without_o justice_n and_o to_o be_v gracious_a without_o truth_n there_o be_v both_o in_o god_n this_o merciful_a god_n have_v say_v except_o you_o repent_v and_o turn_v from_o sin_n you_o shall_v find_v no_o mercy_n from_o he_o and_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o god_n truth_n if_o contrary_a to_o his_o word_n he_o shall_v save_v thou_o without_o repentance_n and_o while_o thou_o go_v on_o in_o thy_o sinful_a way_n must_v god_n falsify_v his_o word_n to_o save_v thy_o soul_n never_o hope_v for_o it_o for_o he_o will_v never_o do_v it_o where_o god_n proclaim_v his_o mercy_n to_o the_o penitent_a he_o do_v also_o declare_v his_o justice_n and_o his_o jealousy_n and_o his_o fix_a resolution_n that_o the_o guilty_a shall_v not_o go_v free_a exod._n 34._o 6_o 7._o and_o that_o he_o be_v full_a of_o fury_n to_o the_o wicked_a as_o of_o mercy_n to_o the_o godly_a and_o that_o as_o he_o reserve_v a_o crown_n for_o the_o one_o so_o also_o wrath_n for_o the_o other_o nahum_n 1._o 2_o 3._o 4._o though_o god_n be_v merciful_a yet_o he_o propound_v condition_n in_o the_o gospel_n which_o you_o must_v comâ—_n up_o unto_o if_o you_o will_v be_v certain_a condition_n to_o the_o captive_n that_o if_o they_o will_v acknowledge_v he_o to_o be_v their_o redeemer_n and_o will_v become_v his_o servant_n and_o his_o subject_n and_o be_v obedient_a to_o his_o law_n they_o shall_v have_v the_o benefit_n of_o the_o ransom_n but_o not_o else_o now_o so_o many_o as_o shall_v refuse_v these_o condition_n must_v remain_v and_o die_v and_o perish_v in_o their_o fetter_n though_o a_o sufficient_a ransom_n be_v give_v for_o redemption_n so_o it_o be_v in_o this_o case_n which_o be_v easy_a to_o apply_v i_o beseech_v you_o therefore_o sir_n do_v exception_n and_o respect_v of_o person_n have_v not_o repentance_n for_o sin_n nor_o faith_n in_o christ_n that_o be_v not_o holy_a nor_o convert_v before_o they_o die_v shall_v be_v eternal_o damn_v and_o perish_v in_o their_o bond_n and_o fetter_n though_o christ_n have_v die_v to_o redeem_v and_o save_v holy_a humble_a repent_v and_o believe_v sinner_n alas_o poor_a captive_a sinner_n what_o lord_n jesus_n save_v we_o lord_n jesus_n open_a unto_o we_o lord_n jesus_n now_o glorify_v we_o with_o thyself_o save_v we_o oh_o save_v we_o now_o from_o yonder_o place_n of_o torment_n from_o yonder_o flame_a fire_n from_o yonder_o lake_n of_o burn_a brimstone_n i_o oh_o send_v we_o not_o down_o to_o yonder_o dreadful_a place_n for_o we_o trust_v in_o thy_o merit_n and_o hope_v to_o be_v save_v because_o thou_o have_v die_v methinks_v i_o hear_v jesus_n the_o judge_n reply_n to_o the_o prisoner_n at_o the_o bar_n no_o oh_o no_o there_o be_v no_o room_n for_o you_o in_o heaven_n there_o be_v no_o entrance_n for_o ungodly_a man_n into_o the_o holy_a place_n there_o be_v no_o mansion_n for_o any_o such_o in_o the_o kingdom_n of_o my_o father_n who_o bid_v you_o trust_v to_o i_o for_o mercy_n without_o believe_v on_o i_o who_o bid_v you_o hope_v for_o heaven_n because_o that_o i_o be_v crucify_v without_o holiness_n and_o repentance_n have_v you_o any_o warrant_n from_o i_o these_o be_v captive_n till_o they_o die_v and_o which_o be_v worse_o be_v captive_n after_o death_n the_o other_o may_v say_v and_o comfort_v themselves_o therewith_o well_o this_o be_v hard_a but_o it_o be_v not_o last_v this_o be_v bitter_a but_o it_o will_v have_v a_o end_n though_o it_o last_o as_o long_o as_o life_n shall_v last_v yet_o death_n will_v come_v and_o then_o we_o shall_v be_v release_v but_o these_o may_v say_v it_o be_v bad_a while_o we_o live_v and_o it_o will_v be_v worse_o when_o we_o die_v if_o we_o be_v not_o deliver_v while_o we_o live_v death_n will_v not_o death_n
