cry_n of_o his_o disciple_n it_o remain_v that_o we_o come_v to_o the_o miracle_n and_o the_o mean_n whereby_o it_o be_v wrought_v to_o wit_n his_o word_n only_o rebuke_v the_o wind_n and_o the_o sea_n but_o yet_o our_o saviour_n make_v no_o such_o haste_n but_o that_o first_o he_o reprehend_v his_o disciple_n and_o â—aith_n why_o be_v you_o fearful_a o_o you_o of_o little_a â—aith_n and_o yet_o some_o writing_n upon_o this_o place_n do_v think_v it_o to_o be_v no_o reprehension_n but_o rather_o that_o before_o he_o will_v calm_v the_o sea_n he_o do_v only_o strengthen_v and_o encourage_v his_o disciple_n in_o their_o faith_n and_o hope_n which_o be_v yet_o very_o weak_a and_o rid_v they_o of_o their_o fear_n and_o faint_a and_o if_o we_o do_v so_o understand_v it_o the_o meaning_n be_v that_o as_o in_o the_o 2.10_o apparition_n of_o angel_n to_o holy_a man_n and_o woman_n botâ—_n in_o the_o old_a &_o new_a testament_n they_o be_v strike_v ordinary_o with_o such_o fear_n that_o they_o can_v not_o deliver_v their_o message_n till_o they_o have_v rid_v they_o from_o that_o fear_n and_o therefore_o begin_v their_o speech_n so_o fear_v not_o or_o be_v not_o afraid_a or_o as_o our_o saviour_n do_v himself_o afterward_o to_o his_o disciple_n at_o sea_n when_o they_o be_v 14.26_o trouble_v and_o cry_v out_o for_o fear_n think_v he_o to_o be_v a_o spirit_n he_o say_v to_o they_o be_v of_o good_a comfort_n it_o be_v i_o be_v not_o afraid_a so_o according_a to_o this_o interpretation_n it_o shall_v be_v a_o speech_n to_o raise_v up_o their_o deject_a heart_n and_o spirit_n and_o to_o relieve_v and_o comfort_v they_o and_o if_o we_o understand_v the_o meaning_n in_o this_o sense_n than_o we_o learn_v here_o the_o difference_n betwixt_o this_o and_o other_o of_o christ_n miracle_n for_o that_o in_o they_o he_o cure_v the_o bodily_a disease_n of_o the_o leprosy_n paulsey_n blindness_n deafness_n lament_n but_o in_o this_o he_o cure_v the_o inward_a affliction_n of_o the_o mind_n in_o immoderate_a grief_n fear_n faint_v and_o distrust_n of_o his_o mercy_n which_o be_v far_o great_a than_o bodily_a sickness_n and_o herein_o he_o teach_v we_o that_o though_o their_o faith_n be_v very_o weak_a 12.20_o that_o he_o do_v not_o break_v the_o bruise_a reed_n nor_o quench_v the_o smoke_a flax_n but_o comfort_n and_o nourish_v and_o cherish_v the_o least_o desire_n of_o goodness_n in_o his_o saint_n and_o child_n and_o in_o that_o he_o do_v this_o before_o he_o work_v the_o miracle_n he_o not_o only_o show_v that_o he_o have_v more_o care_n of_o their_o soul_n then_o of_o their_o body_n but_o withal_o teach_v they_o and_o in_o they_o all_o christian_n to_o be_v principal_o careful_a for_o the_o health_n of_o their_o soul_n without_o which_o they_o be_v 2.1_o dead_a spiritual_o while_o they_o be_v alive_a but_o i_o take_v it_o rather_o as_o the_o current_n both_o of_o the_o ancient_a father_n and_o new_a writer_n do_v agree_v to_o be_v a_o reprehension_n or_o reproof_n of_o the_o disciple_n contain_v first_o a_o question_n why_o be_v you_o fearful_a second_o a_o answer_n o_o you_o of_o little_a faith_n the_o question_n may_v seem_v strange_a for_o how_o shall_v they_o not_o be_v fearful_a that_o see_v the_o danger_n of_o present_a death_n before_o their_o eye_n as_o they_o very_o think_v they_o be_v man_n subject_a to_o passion_n and_o imminent_a peril_n can_v but_o produce_v the_o passion_n of_o fear_n they_o must_v be_v either_o stoic_n or_o stock_n that_o be_v not_o move_v with_o such_o apparent_a danger_n but_o it_o be_v not_o their_o fear_n but_o the_o excessive_a measure_n thereof_o that_o our_o saviour_n reprehend_v and_o therefore_o saint_n mark_v render_v it_o so_o 4.40_o why_o be_v you_o
