numberless_a number_n of_o actual_a transgression_n and_o that_o in_o evil_a thought_n evil_a word_n and_o evil_a deed_n that_o by_o our_o sin_n we_o have_v make_v ourselves_o liable_a to_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n to_o the_o curse_n of_o the_o law_n to_o all_o judgement_n and_o plague_n here_o and_o to_o eternal_a death_n and_o condemnation_n hereafter_o that_o no_o man_n can_v free_v himself_o out_o of_o that_o miserable_a condition_n whereinto_o by_o sin_n he_o have_v plunge_v himself_o neither_o can_v any_o mere_a creature_n help_v he_o that_o god_n out_o of_o his_o free_a grace_n and_o rich_a mercy_n do_v send_v his_o own_o son_n out_o of_o his_o bosom_n into_o the_o world_n to_o take_v our_o nature_n upon_o he_o that_o therein_o he_o may_v become_v our_o surety_n the_o lord_n supper_n be_v these_o that_o it_o be_v ordain_v by_o christ_n himself_o as_o a_o memorial_n of_o his_o great_a love_n in_o offer_v up_o his_o life_n a_o sacrifice_n for_o our_o sin_n that_o this_o as_o well_o as_o the_o other_o sacrament_n of_o baptism_n be_v a_o seal_n of_o god_n covenant_n whereby_o he_o bind_v himself_o to_o perform_v his_o promise_n make_v to_o we_o in_o christ_n for_o strengthen_v our_o faith_n therein_o that_o the_o outward_a sign_n in_o the_o lord_n supper_n be_v bread_n and_o wine_n by_o which_o be_v set_v forth_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n which_o the_o worthy_a receiver_n by_o faith_n do_v partake_v of_o in_o this_o sacrament_n that_o whosoever_o eat_v and_o drink_v unworthy_o be_v guilty_a of_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n and_o therefore_o that_o every_o one_o be_v to_o examine_v himself_o lest_o he_o eat_v and_o drink_v judgement_n to_o himself_o have_v thus_o show_v what_o be_v that_o knowledge_n which_o for_o the_o three_o particular_a viz._n the_o trial_n of_o thy_o knowledge_n whether_o it_o be_v a_o true_a save_a knowledge_n thou_o may_v know_v it_o by_o the_o property_n thereof_o some_o whereof_o be_v these_o 1_o true_a save_a knowledge_n be_v experimental_a whereby_o a_o christian_a have_v a_o spiritual_a sense_n and_o feel_n of_o what_o he_o know_v he_o have_v not_o only_o a_o general_n and_o a_o notional_a knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o of_o his_o own_o miserable_a condition_n by_o nature_n and_o of_o jesus_n christ_n but_o he_o have_v likewise_o a_o experimental_a knowledge_n of_o god_n and_o of_o his_o attribute_n as_o of_o his_o power_n in_o support_v he_o under_o his_o trial_n and_o temptation_n of_o his_o faithfulness_n in_o make_v good_a his_o promise_n unto_o he_o he_o have_v likewise_o a_o sensible_a feel_n of_o his_o own_o wretched_a condition_n by_o nature_n and_o a_o experimental_a knowledge_n of_o jesus_n christ_n so_o that_o he_o know_v christ_n to_o be_v his_o saviour_n and_o redeemer_n and_o rest_v upon_o his_o merit_n alone_o for_o life_n and_o for_o salvation_n by_o this_o then_o try_v and_o examine_v thy_o knowledge_n etc._n etc._n 2_o true_a save_a knowledge_n be_v humble_a and_o join_v with_o meekness_n of_o spirit_n for_o the_o more_o true_a knowledge_n a_o man_n have_v the_o more_o he_o discern_v his_o own_o ignorance_n yea_o and_o vileness_n by_o reason_n of_o his_o sin_n and_o therefore_o you_o shall_v find_v those_o christian_n who_o be_v most_o eminent_a both_o in_o knowledge_n and_o grace_n to_o complain_v most_o as_o of_o or_o no._n 3_o true_a save_a knowledge_n be_v active_a and_o operative_a be_v ever_o accompany_v with_o practice_n and_o obedience_n so_o that_o it_o work_v reformation_n in_o the_o heart_n
think_v of_o the_o evil_a quality_n of_o sin_n as_o 1_o that_o it_o be_v most_o foul_a and_o filthy_a yea_o far_o more_o filthy_a than_o a_o confluence_n of_o all_o the_o most_o filthy_a nasty_a loathsome_a thing_n in_o the_o world_n and_o therefore_o in_o the_o scripture_n it_o be_v not_o only_o call_v filthy_a but_o filthiness_n itself_o 1._o 3_o think_v how_o it_o be_v most_o infectious_a have_v a_o pestilential_a quality_n that_o pollute_v every_o thing_n turn_v all_o our_o spiritual_a service_n even_o our_o prayer_n hear_v meditation_n etc._n etc._n into_o abomination_n 4_o think_v how_o sin_n be_v most_o deceitful_a which_o though_o it_o appear_v at_o first_o with_o a_o siren_n face_n most_o delightful_a yet_o it_o will_v prove_v at_o last_o to_o have_v a_o serpent_n sting_n and_o to_o wound_v mortal_o and_o though_o for_o the_o present_a the_o way_n of_o sin_n may_v be_v very_o pleasant_a and_o delightful_a yet_o the_o end_n and_o issue_n thereof_o will_v be_v very_o bitter_a if_o not_o fearful_a â—nd_n doleful_a iv._o think_v of_o the_o fearful_a effect_n and_o curse_v th'event_n of_o sin_n as_o 1_o how_o it_o make_v a_o separation_n between_o god_n and_o our_o soul_n so_o that_o there_o can_v be_v no_o sweet_a communion_n between_o god_n and_o we_o whereby_o sin_n appear_v to_o be_v a_o great_a evil_n than_o poverty_n imprisonment_n flame_n of_o fire_n or_o the_o like_a for_o a_o man_n may_v lie_v under_o all_o these_o evil_n and_o yet_o lie_v in_o god_n bosom_n 2_o think_v how_o in_o expose_v thou_o to_o all_o the_o misery_n and_o calamity_n that_o can_v befall_v man_n both_o here_o and_o hereafter_o for_o it_o bring_v upon_o he_o hardness_n of_o heart_n horror_n of_o conscience_n vexation_n and_o anguish_n of_o soul_n and_o all_o kind_n of_o spiritual_a evil_n the_o least_o of_o which_o be_v far_o worse_a than_o all_o the_o plague_n of_o egypt_n 4_o it_o likewise_o subject_v his_o body_n to_o weakness_n sickness_n and_o disease_n yea_o sin_n while_o it_o remain_v unpardoned_a subject_n a_o man_n to_o all_o the_o dreadful_a fruit_n and_o effect_n of_o god_n wrath_n which_o be_v all_o judgement_n and_o plague_n here_o and_o eternal_a make_v this_o application_n to_o thyself_o to_o look_v after_o jesus_n christ_n and_o to_o value_v he_o above_o all_o thing_n let_v the_o consideration_n of_o thy_o manifold_a sin_n drive_v thou_o unto_o jesus_n christ_n who_o alone_o can_v free_v thou_o from_o the_o guilt_n of_o they_o and_o punishment_n due_a unto_o they_o happy_a be_v he_o who_o the_o sense_n of_o his_o sin_n make_v to_o strength_n from_o god_n for_o it_o be_v his_o power_n that_o must_v strengthen_v thou_o against_o the_o power_n of_o thy_o lust_n and_o corruption_n chap._n xiii_o of_o our_o behaviour_n in_o company_n as_o thou_o must_v be_v watchful_a over_o thyself_o when_o thou_o be_v alone_o so_o likewise_o when_o thou_o be_v in_o company_n look_v unto_o thy_o behaviour_n therein_o and_o the_o rather_o because_o we_o be_v general_o more_o apt_a to_o transgress_v in_o company_n than_o when_o we_o be_v alone_o experience_n teach_v we_o that_o many_o who_o in_o secret_n be_v watchful_a over_o their_o thought_n labour_v to_o improve_v their_o privacy_n by_o some_o heavenly_a meditation_n and_o sweet_a communion_n with_o god_n be_v in_o company_n very_o apt_a to_o forget_v god_n and_o themselves_o too_o by_o give_v too_o much_o way_n to_o the_o satisfy_n of_o their_o carnal_a lust_n and_o pleasure_n whereby_o they_o fall_v into_o many_o sin_n and_o therefore_o it_o will_v not_o be_v amiss_o to_o set_v down_o some_o direction_n to_o guide_v thou_o when_o thou_o be_v in_o company_n but_o before_o i_o lay_v down_o these_o direction_n i_o shall_v premise_v a_o argument_n or_o two_o to_o persuade_v thou_o to_o make_v choice_n of_o the_o good_a and_o godly_a and_o by_o no_o mean_n of_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a â—â—sons_n for_o thy_o ordinary_a converse_n as_o also_o a_o preparatory_a advice_n or_o 〈◊〉_d for_o the_o better_a fit_v and_o prepare_v of_o thou_o to_o improve_v thy_o converse_n with_o man_n to_o the_o best_a spiritual_a advantage_n 1_o therefore_o high_o prize_n and_o earnest_o seek_v the_o company_n of_o such_o as_o be_v godly_a because_o thou_o will_v find_v a_o great_a increase_n in_o thy_o piety_n knowledge_n faith_n zeal_n and_o all_o other_o grace_n thereby_o if_o you_o look_v into_o the_o primitive_a time_n you_o shall_v find_v that_o when_o the_o christian_n do_v most_o frequent_o associate_v themselves_o together_o delight_v in_o the_o communion_n of_o each_o other_o than_o do_v they_o most_o of_o all_o thrive_v and_o increase_v as_o in_o piety_n so_o in_o knowledge_n faith_n love_n zeal_n and_o all_o other_o grace_n and_o it_o may_v be_v observe_v that_o where_o the_o people_n of_o god_n do_v not_o associate_v themselves_o in_o holy_a communion_n there_o be_v little_a thrive_a in_o grace_n and_o godliness_n though_o they_o live_v under_o never_o so_o powerful_a a_o ministry_n 2_o avoid_v as_o much_o as_o may_v be_v the_o society_n of_o wicked_a and_o profane_a person_n especial_o such_o as_o be_v scoffer_n at_o godliness_n and_o religion_n because_o we_o be_v very_o apt_a to_o be_v pervert_v by_o evil_a company_n and_o corrupt_v with_o the_o contagion_n of_o their_o sin_n such_o pitch_n will_v defile_v our_o garment_n 3_o avoid_v the_o society_n of_o wicked_a man_n because_o we_o be_v thereby_o in_o danger_n to_o be_v involve_v in_o their_o temporal_a plague_n all_o profane_a man_n be_v liable_a every_o moment_n to_o those_o fearful_a plague_n and_o judgement_n which_o their_o sin_n just_o deserve_v and_o earnest_o call_v for_o if_o god_n shall_v shower_v they_o down_o upon_o they_o while_o the_o godly_a be_v in_o their_o company_n how_o can_v they_o expect_v immunity_n from_o the_o same_o 4_o avoid_v their_o company_n because_o we_o shall_v thereby_o encourage_v and_o embolden_v
that_o they_o do_v even_o break_v he_o again_o for_o we_o use_v to_o say_v of_o one_o that_o have_v endure_v much_o pain_n or_o other_o great_a grief_n that_o have_v waste_v his_o flesh_n or_o dry_v up_o his_o blood_n see_v how_o he_o be_v break_v and_o in_o this_o sense_n also_o may_v christ_n be_v say_v to_o be_v break_v again_o when_o thou_o see_v the_o minister_n pour_v out_o of_o the_o wine_n than_o exercise_n and_o actuate_v thy_o faith_n in_o the_o blood_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o shed_v thereof_o which_o indeed_o show_v the_o extent_n of_o christ_n suffering_n even_o to_o the_o take_v away_o of_o his_o life_n which_o be_v the_o further_a extent_n of_o a_o man_n suffering_n in_o this_o world_n these_o two_o therefore_o the_o break_n of_o christ_n body_n and_o the_o grief_n and_o sorrow_n foâ—_n your_o sin_n to_o that_o end_n serious_o meditate_v of_o the_o manifold_a suffering_n of_o christ_n for_o certain_o a_o due_a and_o serious_a meditation_n of_o what_o heart_n of_o his_o people_n will_v thou_o then_o know_v whether_o that_o faith_n thou_o pretend_v to_o be_v a_o true_a save_a faith_n try_v &_o examine_v it_o by_o the_o forementioned_a particular_n consider_v whether_o it_o be_v thus_o kind_o wrought_v in_o thou_o according_a to_o the_o ordinary_a method_n of_o god_n spirit_n if_o so_o then_o though_o the_o fruit_n of_o faith_n be_v very_o weak_a in_o thou_o yet_o thou_o have_v a_o comfortable_a evidence_n of_o the_o truth_n thereof_o and_o so_o consequent_o have_v a_o sure_a evidence_n for_o heaven_n obj._n though_o i_o can_v deny_v these_o forementioned_a particular_n to_o be_v wrought_v in_o i_o yet_o notwithstanding_o i_o have_v no_o comfortable_a evidence_n and_o assurance_n of_o heaven_n nor_o of_o my_o interest_n in_o jesus_n christ._n ans._n for_o answer_v hereunto_o i_o shall_v lay_v down_o three_o comfortable_a consideration_n 1_o a_o man_n may_v have_v the_o faith_n of_o adherence_n and_o dependence_n though_o he_o have_v not_o the_o faith_n of_o evidence_n and_o assurance_n for_o the_o better_a understanding_n whereof_o you_o must_v know_v there_o be_v a_o twofold_a faith_n as_o divine_n distinguish_v evidence_n and_o assurance_n so_o that_o he_o knowert_v not_o his_o own_o happiness_n as_o the_o child_n may_v true_o hang_v about_o the_o mother_n neck_n or_o cast_v itself_o into_o her_o arm_n and_o yet_o receive_v neither_o kiss_n nor_o smile_v from_o she_o so_o a_o poor_a soul_n may_v true_o roll_n itself_o upon_o christ_n cast_v itself_o into_o his_o arm_n and_o rest_n in_o his_o bosom_n which_o be_v true_a faith_n and_o yet_o have_v neither_o kiss_n nor_o smile_v from_o he_o therefore_o far_o be_v it_o from_o thou_o to_o question_v the_o truth_n of_o thy_o faith_n mere_o for_o want_v of_o christ_n smile_v upon_o thou_o or_o to_o question_v thy_o faith_n of_o adherence_n because_o thou_o have_v not_o the_o faith_n of_o evidence_n and_o assurance_n 2_o assurance_n of_o our_o interest_n in_o christ_n and_o of_o our_o future_a happiness_n though_o it_o be_v requisite_a to_o the_o consolation_n of_o a_o christian_a yet_o not_o to_o his_o salvation_n though_o to_o his_o comfort_n yet_o not_o to_o his_o safety_n his_o condition_n may_v be_v safe_a though_o not_o very_o comfortable_a at_o present_a for_o a_o christian_n safety_n do_v not_o at_o all_o depend_v upon_o as_o many_o christian_n do_v imagine_v for_o indeed_o they_o be_v but_o for_o christian_n who_o do_v here_o attain_v to_o a_o clear_a evidence_n and_o full_a assurance_n of_o their_o salvation_n such_o who_o the_o lord_n here_o call_v forth_o to_o hard_a service_n or_o great_a suffering_n to_o they_o he_o be_v please_v many_o time_n to_o give_v some_o clear_a evidence_n and_o assurance_n of_o their_o eternal_a life_n and_o salvation_n for_o their_o better_a comfort_n and_o support_v thus_o many_o martyr_n have_v express_v their_o full_a assurance_n of_o a_o better_a life_n after_o this_o whereas_o such_o a_o measure_n be_v not_o usual_o grant_v to_o ordinary_a christian_n their_o trial_n be_v but_o fleabites_a in_o comparison_n of_o the_o other_o vi_o then_o especial_o act_v the_o grace_n of_o god_n spirit_n in_o thou_o as_o 1_o thy_o fall'th_n which_o be_v a_o grace_n of_o special_a use_n to_o thou_o so_o long_o as_o thou_o live_v in_o this_o world_n but_o most_o of_o all_o at_o thy_o last_o sickness_n and_o in_o the_o time_n of_o death_n therefore_o then_o especial_o be_v often_o actuate_a and_o exercise_v thy_o faith_n in_o jesus_n christ_n with_o the_o eye_n of_o faith_n look_v upon_o christ_n hang_v upon_o the_o cross_n there_o offer_v up_o his_o life_n as_o a_o all-sufficient_a sacrifice_n and_o full_a satisfaction_n to_o god_n justice_n for_o thy_o sin_n only_a when_o thou_o be_v eat_v the_o bread_n and_o drink_v the_o wine_n but_o also_o when_o thou_o see_v the_o bread_n break_v and_o the_o wine_n pour_v forth_o than_o thou_o shall_v think_v how_o christ_n body_n be_v break_v with_o torment_n and_o his_o blood_n shed_v for_o remission_n of_o sin_n and_o also_o when_o thou_o see_v other_o take_v the_o bread_n and_o the_o wine_n thou_o shall_v then_o be_v steep_v thy_o thought_n in_o the_o meditation_n of_o christ_n bitter_a death_n and_o manifold_a suffering_n this_o remembrance_n of_o christ_n death_n at_o the_o sacrament_n must_v not_o be_v a_o bare_a historical_a remembrance_n thereof_o content_v thyself_o with_o a_o remembrance_n of_o the_o history_n of_o christ_n death_n as_o it_o be_v set_v forth_o by_o the_o evangelist_n but_o to_o bear_v the_o intolerable_a burden_n of_o his_o father_n wrath_n due_a to_o our_o sin_n which_o make_v he_o sweat_v drop_n of_o blood_n in_o the_o garden_n and_o to_o cry_v out_o on_o the_o cross_n my_o god_n my_o god_n why_o have_v thou_o forsake_v i_o oh_o how_o shall_v this_o ravish_v our_o soul_n with_o admiration_n of_o so_o great_a love_n and_o inflame_v our_o heart_n with_o love_n
peace_n and_o comfort_n rest_n and_o salvation_n be_v to_o be_v have_v such_o therefore_o as_o have_v find_v their_o heart_n affect_v with_o grief_n and_o sorrow_n for_o their_o sin_n do_v rest_n satisfy_v therewith_o and_o seek_v not_o out_o for_o jesus_n christ_n they_o be_v like_a to_o sit_v down_o without_o christ_n and_o so_o fall_v short_a both_o of_o true_a peace_n here_o and_o of_o salvation_n hereafter_o 7_o other_o bottom_n their_o hope_n of_o salvation_n upon_o their_o partial_a repentance_n i_o mean_v their_o leave_v and_o forsake_v some_o sin_n when_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n they_o witting_o live_v in_o the_o practice_n of_o other_o sin_n which_o in_o truth_n be_v but_o a_o seigned_a and_o hypocritical_a repentance_n like_o that_o of_o herod_n who_o upon_o john_n baptist_n preach_v be_v say_v to_o leave_v many_o sin_n but_o yet_o will_v by_o no_o mean_n part_n with_o his_o herodias_n his_o darling_n and_o belove_a sin_n nay_o though_o your_o repentance_n be_v true_a and_o full_a yet_o if_o you_o stay_v there_o and_o not_o look_v beyond_o it_o unto_o jesus_n christ_n you_o will_v fall_v short_a of_o salvation_n 8_o other_o bottom_n their_o hope_n of_o salvation_n upon_o their_o work_n of_o charity_n think_v to_o purchase_v heaven_n by_o their_o good_a work_n and_o so_o whole_o exclude_v christ_n merit_n which_o they_o ground_n upon_o that_o sentence_n of_o absolution_n pronounce_v by_o our_o saviour_n at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n unto_o his_o elect_n 34_o wherein_o he_o give_v heaven_n to_o they_o who_o have_v express_v their_o charity_n to_o his_o poor_a member_n in_o feed_v clothing_n they_o and_o the_o like_a whereas_o our_o saviour_n instance_v in_o these_o work_n of_o charity_n as_o the_o fruit_n of_o their_o faith_n whereby_o they_o do_v evidence_n their_o faith_n to_o be_v a_o true_a and_o lively_a faith_n which_o manifest_v its_o life_n by_o those_o work_n of_o charity_n so_o that_o work_v of_o charity_n in_o themselves_o can_v be_v no_o good_a ground_n to_o bottom_v your_o salvation_n upon_o but_o only_a faith_n in_o jesus_n christ_n which_o be_v ever_o accompany_v with_o work_n of_o charity_n if_o true_a and_o sound_a 9_o other_o bottom_n their_o hope_n of_o salvation_n upon_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n they_o will_v confess_v themselves_o to_o be_v poor_a wretched_a sinful_a creature_n but_o they_o hope_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n will_v pardon_v their_o sin_n and_o accept_v their_o poor_a service_n thus_o many_o make_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n to_o eik_v out_o their_o own_o righteousness_n and_o so_o both_o put_v together_o they_o think_v will_v be_v a_o mean_n of_o atonement_n and_o reconciliation_n with_o god_n yea_o and_o of_o obtain_v eternal_a life_n and_o salvation_n but_o such_o do_v wonderful_o mistake_v the_o proper_a work_n of_o god_n mercy_n which_o be_v not_o to_o eik_v out_o our_o righteousness_n but_o to_o show_v we_o our_o unrighteousness_n and_o misery_n and_o then_o to_o show_v we_o jesus_n christ_n the_o perfection_n of_o his_o righteousness_n the_o all-sufficiency_n of_o his_o sacrifice_n with_o his_o willingness_n to_o receive_v all_o poor_a sinner_n that_o will_v come_v unto_o he_o and_o then_o to_o stir_v up_o our_o heart_n to_o receive_v jesus_n christ_n as_o our_o priest_n prophet_n and_o king_n and_o to_o rest_v upon_o he_o for_o life_n and_o for_o salvation_n and_o thus_o may_v i_o go_v on_o show_v you_o the_o many_o false_a and_o rot_a foundation_n upon_o which_o the_o great_a part_n of_o man_n do_v build_v their_o hope_n of_o salvation_n whereas_o in_o truth_n christ_n be_v the_o only_a true_a solid_a foundation_n whereon_o we_o can_v safe_o build_v the_o hope_n of_o our_o salvation_n 11_o and_o therefore_o say_v the_o apostle_n other_o foundation_n can_v no_o man_n lay_v thâ—â—_n that_o be_v lay_v the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n intimate_v christ_n to_o be_v the_o only_a true_a foundation_n so_o that_o he_o be_v the_o wise_a christian_n that_o build_v his_o hope_n of_o salvation_n only_o upon_o that_o rock_n the_o lord_n jesus_n christ._n and_o so_o i_o pass_v from_o the_o first_o fundamental_a principle_n to_o the_o second_o namely_o ii_o that_o believe_a in_o christ_n be_v the_o only_a mean_n as_o of_o partake_v of_o christ_n so_o of_o salvation_n by_o he_o this_o be_v typify_v by_o the_o mean_n of_o the_o israelite_n cure_n of_o the_o sting_n of_o the_o fiery_a serpent_n and_o that_o be_v by_o look_v upon_o the_o brazen_a serpent_n for_o as_o the_o israelite_n by_o look_v upon_o the_o brazen_a serpent_n be_v perfect_o cure_v of_o the_o sting_n of_o the_o fiery_a serpent_n in_o like_a manner_n all_o poor_a sinner_n sensible_a of_o the_o sting_n of_o sin_n by_o look_v with_o the_o eye_n of_o faith_n upon_o jesus_n christ_n lift_v up_o upon_o the_o cross_n shall_v be_v perfect_o cure_v of_o the_o sting_n of_o their_o sin_n this_o application_n of_o that_o type_n our_o saviour_n himself_o make_v 15_o for_o say_v he_o as_o moses_n lift_v up_o the_o serpent_n in_o the_o wilderness_n even_o so_o must_v the_o son_n of_o man_n be_v lift_v up_o that_o whosoever_o believe_v in_o he_o shall_v not_o perish_v but_o have_v everlasting_a life_n so_o that_o believe_v in_o jesus_n christ_n be_v the_o only_a mean_n of_o partake_v of_o christ_n and_o of_o salvation_n by_o he_o what_o this_o faith_n be_v which_o make_v we_o partaker_n of_o christ_n and_o of_o salvation_n by_o he_o i_o have_v former_o show_v in_o the_o direction_n for_o the_o worthy_a receive_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n how_o shall_v the_o consideration_n hereof_o stir_v you_o up_o to_o labour_v above_o all_o thing_n to_o believe_v in_o jesus_n christ_n that_o be_v to_o go_v whole_o out_o of_o yourselves_o unto_o jesus_n christ_n and_o to_o receive_v he_o as_o he_o be_v offer_v in_o the_o gospel_n mind_v this_o work_n most_o of_o all_o for_o it_o be_v the_o all_o in_o all_o to_o your_o salvation_n and_o yet_o how_o do_v the_o great_a part_n of_o you_o mind_n your_o pleasure_n and_o your_o profit_n more_o than_o this_o can_v they_o give_v you_o a_o interest_n in_o christ_n or_o a_o right_n to_o salvation_n why_o then_o shall_v your_o pleasure_n and_o your_o profit_n be_v so_o mind_v and_o seek_v after_o by_o you_o even_o more_o than_o faith_n which_o only_o can_v give_v you_o a_o interest_n in_o christ_n and_o a_o right_a unto_o salvation_n in_o and_o through_o he_o sure_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n to_o be_v lament_v that_o man_n shall_v so_o much_o mind_n worldly_a thing_n and_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n forget_v spiritual_a thing_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v so_o politic_a for_o their_o body_n and_o so_o foolish_a for_o their_o soul_n that_o they_o shall_v with_o martha_n be_v so_o much_o trouble_v about_o earthly_a thing_n and_o not_o with_o mary_n mind_n this_o one_o thing_n necessary_a but_o resolve_v hence_o forward_o to_o give_v no_o rest_n to_o your_o soul_n till_o you_o have_v attain_v to_o this_o save_a grace_n of_o faith_n the_o mean_v god_n have_v sanctify_v thereunto_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o three_o head_n 1_o the_o remove_n of_o some_o let_n and_o impediment_n 2_o the_o embrace_v of_o some_o truth_n 3_o the_o practise_v of_o some_o duty_n the_o let_n and_o impediment_n be_v of_o two_o sort_n 1_o such_o as_o keep_v natural_a man_n and_o woman_n from_o believe_v in_o jesus_n christ._n 2_o such_o as_o keep_v off_o many_o a_o sincere_a brokenhearted_a sinner_n i._o the_o let_v and_o impediment_n that_o keep_v off_o natural_a man_n and_o woman_n from_o believe_v in_o jesus_n christ_n be_v these_o and_o such_o like_a 1_o a_o love_n of_o their_o lust_n for_o this_o man_n general_o know_v that_o as_o dagon_n fall_v down_o before_o the_o ark_n so_o their_o lust_n must_v fall_v down_o before_o jesus_n christ_n they_o know_v that_o when_o christ_n be_v receive_v into_o the_o heart_n by_o faith_n their_o lust_n must_v be_v cast_v out_o for_o have_v a_o low_a mean_a esteem_n of_o christ_n who_o think_v he_o not_o able_a to_o recompense_v the_o loss_n of_o a_o base_a lust_n 2_o a_o overmuch_o love_v of_o the_o world_n and_o worldly_a thing_n the_o truth_n be_v that_o soul_n that_o be_v not_o in_o some_o measure_n divorce_v from_o the_o world_n can_v by_o faith_n embrace_v the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n as_o her_o husband_n o_o therefore_o let_v it_o be_v your_o daily_a prayer_n and_o earnest_a endeavour_n to_o wean_v your_o heart_n more_o and_o more_o from_o the_o love_n of_o these_o earthly_a thing_n that_o you_o may_v not_o love_v they_o so_o much_o as_o thereby_o to_o be_v keep_v from_o love_v and_o embrace_v of_o jesus_n christ._n 3_o spiritual_a pride_n ground_v upon_o a_o man_n overvalue_a conceit_n of_o little_a light_n and_o yield_v a_o stink_a savour_n though_o true_a believer_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o flesh_n in_o they_o may_v be_v such_o yet_o will_v not_o christ_n quench_v that_o little_a light_n of_o faith_n that_o be_v in_o they_o 3_o a_o three_o let_v and_o impediment_n be_v a_o fear_n and_o jealousy_n that_o they_o be_v not_o sufficient_o humble_v under_o the_o sense_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o the_o rather_o because_o they_o do_v not_o find_v their_o heart_n so_o break_v as_o the_o heart_n of_o other_o have_v be_v for_o the_o removal_n of_o this_o i_o desire_v such_o to_o take_v notice_n of_o these_o thing_n 1_o that_o a_o man_n may_v be_v sufficient_o humble_v and_o break_v for_o his_o sin_n though_o not_o so_o deep_o as_o other_o for_o true_a humiliation_n admit_v of_o degree_n and_o all_o christian_n have_v it_o not_o in_o a_o like_a measure_n and_o therefore_o far_o be_v it_o from_o any_o to_o conclude_v that_o they_o be_v not_o sufficient_o humble_v because_o they_o have_v not_o attain_v to_o such_o a_o measure_n and_o degree_n thereof_o as_o some_o other_o have_v 2_o though_o thou_o be_v not_o so_o deep_o humble_v as_o some_o other_o have_v be_v yet_o if_o thou_o be_v so_o sensible_a of_o thy_o sin_n and_o of_o thy_o misery_n thereby_o that_o thou_o be_v true_o sensible_a of_o the_o need_n and_o necessity_n thou_o have_v of_o jesus_n christ_n it_o
