sake_n our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n god_n and_o man_n not_o for_o our_o own_o worthiness_n nor_o for_o our_o own_o virtue_n nor_o for_o our_o own_o work_n or_o merit_n this_o promise_n ought_v to_o be_v embrace_v by_o faith_n because_o it_o be_v the_o everlasting_a and_o immutable_a commandment_n of_o god_n that_o in_o our_o conversion_n that_o be_v in_o our_o unfeigned_a sorrow_n and_o fear_n we_o shall_v believe_v we_o be_v receive_v for_o his_o son_n sake_n according_a to_o that_o say_n i_o live_v say_v the_o lord_n i_o will_v not_o the_o death_n of_o a_o sinner_n but_o that_o he_o will_v 11_o repent_v and_o live_v but_o to_o the_o end_n this_o true_a faith_n may_v be_v right_o understand_v it_o be_v needful_a we_o always_o have_v in_o our_o sight_n that_o admonition_n of_o barnerd_a wherein_o he_o say_v thou_o must_v and_o ought_v to_o believe_v that_o thy_o sin_n be_v forgive_v thou_o the_o devil_n know_v that_o sin_n be_v forgive_v some_o man_n and_o many_o man_n as_o saul_n and_o judas_n believe_v that_o sin_n be_v forgive_v other_o wherefore_o let_v this_o necessary_a admonition_n be_v fast_o fix_v in_o our_o mind_n believe_v that_o thy_o own_o sin_n be_v forgive_v thou_o touch_v this_o faith_n speak_v paul_n where_o he_o teach_v that_o the_o promise_n be_v to_o be_v receive_v by_o faith_n they_o receive_v not_o the_o promise_n which_o believe_v that_o the_o same_o be_v offer_v unto_o other_o and_o not_o to_o themselves_o like_v as_o in_o the_o epistle_n of_o saint_n john_n it_o be_v write_v he_o that_o beleve_v not_o the_o son_n accuse_v he_o oflying_a when_o therefore_o thou_o recite_v this_o article_n of_o the_o creed_n i_o believe_v in_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n understand_v thou_o that_o sin_n be_v not_o forgive_v other_o but_o thou_o also_o touch_v this_o faith_n it_o be_v say_v be_v justify_v by_o faith_n we_o have_v peace_n rom._n 5._o 1._o neither_o must_v we_o seek_v for_o other_o consolation_n but_o we_o must_v settle_v ourselves_o satisfy_v with_o this_o faith_n in_o god_n for_o the_o mediator_n sake_n but_o see_v the_o doctrine_n touch_v justification_n be_v in_o another_o place_n full_o handle_v i_o be_o now_o more_o brief_a and_o i_o exhort_v the_o reader_n that_o he_o shall_v diligent_o consider_v the_o weightinesse_n of_o the_o word_n he_o say_v not_o in_o vain_a nor_o rash_o according_a to_o the_o multitude_n of_o thy_o mercy_n do_v away_o my_o offence_n but_o this_o necessary_a consolation_n of_o the_o immense_a mercy_n of_o god_n do_v he_o set_v before_o the_o greatness_n and_o multitude_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o this_o form_n of_o word_n agree_v with_o the_o most_o sweet_a say_n of_o paul_n rom._n 5._o 15._o grace_n ever_o abound_v above_o sin_n that_o be_v how_o great_a so_o ever_o our_o sin_n be_v yet_o be_v it_o assure_v that_o the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v mighty_a therefore_o let_v we_o not_o unto_o other_o offence_n add_v desperation_n but_o let_v we_o believe_v that_o grace_n be_v more_o abundant_a than_o sin_n and_o that_o the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v more_o mighty_a than_o all_o the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o devil_n like_a as_o in_o the_o first_o promise_v it_o be_v say_v gen._n 3._o 15._o the_o seed_n of_o the_o woman_n shall_v b●use_v the_o serpent_n head_n also_o let_v we_o consider_v what_o sweet_a resemblence_n of_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n be_v set_v down_o in_o the_o word_n do_v away_o and_o wash_v saint_n paul_n in_o 2._o coloss_n describe_v the_o benefit_n of_o christ_n use_v the_o same_o metaphor_n christ_n say_v he_o have_v cancel_v the_o hand-writing_n which_o be_v write_v against_o we_o which_o be_v contrary_a to_o we_o he_o even_o take_v it_o out_o of_o the_o way_n and_o fasten_v it_o to_o the_o cross_n verse_n 14._o he_o allude_v
