be_v god_n himself_o and_o not_o angelical_a claritude_n that_o he_o need_v not_o ask_v other_o who_o have_v experience_v it_o for_o god_n bring_v with_o he_o that_o certainty_n when_o he_o come_v but_o before_o this_o light_n come_v which_o be_v god_n himself_o those_o angelical_a light_n do_v first_o appear_v and_o do_v as_o it_o be_v prepare_v the_o way_n for_o the_o true_a light_n for_o if_o this_o true_a light_n shall_v come_v without_o send_v before_o it_o those_o enlightening_n a_o man_n can_v not_o bear_v it_o but_o the_o angelical_a light_n be_v such_o whereby_o a_o man_n of_o their_o estimation_n a_o man_n who_o be_v arrive_v at_o god_n be_v above_o the_o angel_n for_o he_o pass_v through_o all_o the_o angel_n into_o the_o son_n a_o man_n must_v pass_v through_o a_o combat_n a_o death_n and_o the_o grave_a to_o come_v unto_o god_n wherein_o be_v no_o need_n of_o the_o angel_n in_o as_o much_o as_o they_o do_v contemplate_v and_o use_v without_o a_o death_n that_o in_o righteousness_n as_o we_o speak_v of_o a_o angelic_a claritude_n that_o it_o show_v to_o a_o man_n his_o prison_n together_o with_o his_o impurity_n which_o then_o be_v to_o be_v purify_v by_o fire_n that_o he_o himself_o may_v by_o this_o mean_n be_v make_v capable_a of_o the_o eternal_a light_n which_o be_v christ_n so_o some_o there_o be_v who_o do_v not_o right_o understand_v that_o matter_n for_o when_o that_o angelic_a claritude_n first_o show_n to_o they_o their_o prison_n with_o the._n impurity_n present_o they_o think_v that_o this_o lesser_a light_n be_v god_n himself_o nor_o do_v they_o take_v care_n that_o they_o shall_v first_o be_v free_v from_o their_o impurity_n but_o with_o a_o impure_a nature_n they_o present_o apprehend_v that_o claritude_n and_o arrogate_v until_o god_n himself_o smite_v they_o for_o they_o ought_v not_o to_o abuse_v claritude_n but_o it_o shall_v have_v serve_v they_o for_o that_o end_n for_o which_o it_o be_v give_v to_o they_o viz._n but_o in_o a_o just_a measure_n and_o order_n and_o that_o to_o his_o own_o glory_n and_o for_o the_o promotion_n and_o growth_n of_o the_o man_n all_o which_o will_v a_o man_n hinder_v if_o be_v impatient_a under_o the_o cross_n he_o shall_v not_o wait_v upon_o god_n great_a be_v the_o fruit_n of_o affliction_n and_o therefore_o in_o it_o be_v the_o lord_n to_o be_v expect_v i_o expect_v he_o that_o acknowledge_v his_o sin_n god_n deliver_v he_o from_o they_o thâ—_n vulgar_a acknowledgement_n of_o sin_n be_v not_o 〈◊〉_d he_o that_o right_o acknowledge_v himseâ—â—â—o_o err_v desire_v abstinence_n can_v return_v into_o the_o first_o state_n of_o life_n but_o that_o which_o be_v dead_a rise_v not_o again_o in_o that_o state_n in_o which_o it_o be_v dead_a chap._n xii_o the_o torment_n of_o the_o martyr_n be_v the_o glory_n of_o the_o death_n and_o resurrection_n of_o christ_n for_o these_o have_v demonstrate_v that_o a_o man_n be_v to_o be_v lead_v in_o a_o certain_a way_n above_o nature_n through_o the_o death_n and_o resurrection_n of_o christ_n which_o way_n be_v impossible_a to_o nature_n we_o must_v then_o die_v to_o all_o humane_a strength_n that_o the_o virtue_n of_o christ_n may_v operate_v all_o these_o thing_n whence_o it_o be_v that_o they_o be_v call_v the_o light_n of_o mankind_n because_o they_o be_v lead_v above_o all_o the_o strength_n give_v glory_n unto_o god_n glory_n be_v not_o give_v to_o god_n before_o that_o a_o man_n arrive_v at_o or_o come_v unto_o his_o death_n and_o be_v estrange_v from_o himself_o and_o god_n do_v take_v up_o his_o room_n or_o place_n who_o keep_v govern_v lead_v and_o exercise_v he_o above_o all_o reason_n which_o reason_n here_o neither_o see_v nor_o know_v any_o door_n of_o escape_n but_o be_v hold_v captive_a under_o the_o obedience_n of_o faith_n because_o a_o thick_a cloud_n and_o a_o dark_a mist_n have_v cover_v the_o eye_n thereof_o that_o it_o can_v see_v the_o way_n whereby_o god_n be_v wont_a to_o lead_v a_o man_n this_o be_v here_o that_o passive_a state_n when_o a_o man_n die_v and_o suffer_v god_n but_o in_o the_o active_a state_n under_o the_o law_n when_o life_n still_o be_v present_a it_o be_v not_o so_o for_o then_o a_o man_n be_v govern_v by_o reason_n to_o who_o be_v add_v will_n and_o knowledge_n about_o the_o action_n and_o omission_n of_o a_o man_n though_o all_o thing_n be_v direct_v by_o divine_a help_n and_o in_o divine_a claritude_n which_o strike_v reason_n down_o so_o that_o a_o man_n can_v govern_v himself_o conduct_n and_o conserve_v himself_o day_n and_o night_n yet_o when_o all_o these_o be_v take_v away_o he_o must_v at_o length_n come_v into_o death_n that_o god_n may_v come_v and_o take_v his_o place_n and_o administer_v all_o thing_n himself_o then_o a_o man_n be_v draw_v another_o way_n than_o what_o he_o walk_v before_o and_o it_o be_v that_o which_o excel_v his_o own_o will_n knowledge_n and_o strength_n this_o man_n be_v become_v passive_a and_o god_n operate_v in_o he_o as_o the_o conscience_n and_o the_o mind_n be_v captivate_v and_o saden_v when_o it_o be_v well_o with_o the_o flesh_n so_o when_o the_o flesh_n come_v into_o death_n the_o mind_n and_o conscience_n be_v exhilerate_v and_o set_v at_o liberty_n many_o and_o great_a gift_n of_o the_o holy_a spirit_n do_v come_v real_o into_o a_o man_n which_o yet_o be_v not_o regeneration_n but_o they_o go_v and_o come_v whereas_o that_o be_v regeneration_n when_o &_o where_o god_n have_v plant_v his_o habitation_n and_o god_n be_v become_v one_o with_o man_n in_o god_n neither_o the_o world_n not_o pleasure_n nor_o joy_n be_v suffer_v nature_n must_v want_v all_o these_o when_o the_o mind_n stand_v in_o god_n they_o who_o stand_v under_o grace_n only_a continence_n but_o not_o real_a patience_n but_o this_o be_v patience_n when_o a_o man_n can_v imprecate_v no_o evil_n upon_o another_o by_o reason_n of_o any_o adversity_n but_o if_o any_o one_o have_v injure_v he_o he_o pray_v hearty_o for_o he_o note_v he_o have_v a_o kindness_n for_o he_o and_o love_v he_o and_o if_o one_o have_v take_v any_o thing_n from_o he_o he_o yield_v up_o according_a to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n but_o contrary_a to_o the_o will_n of_o man_n if_o a_o man_n follow_v his_o concupiscence_n in_o small_a thing_n he_o follow_v it_o also_o in_o great_a thing_n that_o which_o he_o must_v do_v that_o he_o can_v omit_v for_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n try_v and_o prove_v by_o experience_n if_o therefore_o one_o will_v not_o follow_v his_o lust_n in_o great_a thing_n he_o be_v not_o to_o follow_v it_o then_o in_o small_a thing_n for_o he_o who_o be_v willing_a to_o omit_v great_a matter_n will_v also_o omit_v small_a to_o be_v deficient_a to_o one_o self_n true_o become_v sensible_a of_o the_o high_a love_n in_o the_o deep_a enmity_n of_o the_o great_a riches_n in_o the_o extreme_a poverty_n of_o the_o profound_a joy_n in_o the_o most_o press_a strait_n and_o misery_n and_o in_o the_o fierce_a combat_n the_o sweet_a peace_n and_o in_o a_o word_n in_o the_o low_a despondency_n and_o weakness_n yea_o desperation_n and_o inconstancy_n the_o high_a faithfulness_n and_o constancy_n ought_v to_o be_v find_v in_o god_n here_o faith_n come_v to_o be_v try_v whether_o it_o be_v of_o man_n or_o whether_o it_o be_v of_o god_n for_o if_o it_o be_v of_o man_n it_o refuse_v to_o choose_v for_o itself_o true_a poverty_n of_o spirit_n together_o with_o the_o abnegation_n of_o proper_a happiness_n which_o it_o elect_v for_o itself_o for_o it_o deni_v to_o assume_v for_o its_o conservation_n and_o happiness_n any_o thing_n but_o what_o be_v before_o its_o own_o eye_n and_o be_v promise_v in_o word_n gross_o understand_v from_o the_o scripture_n and_o acquiesce_n in_o the_o do_n of_o they_o only_o that_o the_o soul_n may_v be_v save_v but_o if_o some_o thing_n seem_v to_o it_o to_o be_v impossible_a to_o be_v perform_v it_o lay_v all_o that_o if_o from_o the_o most_o inward_a secret_n of_o its_o own_o soul_n it_o will_v confess_v the_o truth_n it_o will_v indeed_o tell_v you_o of_o a_o conscience_n not_o sound_o pacify_v but_o rather_o of_o one_o that_o gnaw_v and_o torment_v unless_o it_o strive_v of_o set_a purpose_n to_o hide_v the_o true_a state_n of_o the_o matter_n but_o if_o such_o a_o one_o be_v about_o to_o object_n and_o say_v this_o be_v the_o devil_n that_o thus_o accuse_v and_o blame_v a_o man_n in_o his_o conscience_n from_o which_o notwithstanding_o any_o one_o may_v be_v free_v by_o and_o through_o christ_n alone_o and_o be_v effectual_a in_o they_o who_o study_n and_o endeavour_v to_o submit_v themselves_o unto_o his_o will_n for_o it_o be_v impossible_a that_o they_o who_o be_v disobedient_a and_o
