from_o the_o law_n and_o withal_o paul_n admonish_v what_o work_n do_v become_v we_o be_v loose_v from_o the_o law_n so_o long_o therefore_o as_o a_o man_n be_v hold_v under_o the_o yoke_n of_o the_o special_a grace_n wherew_v t_o god_n vouchsafe_v his_o elect_a furthermore_o if_o this_o whole_a state_n of_o life_n be_v corrupt_v it_o be_v apparent_a that_o natural_o there_o be_v no_o part_n of_o our_o soul_n sound_n neither_o be_v there_o any_o other_o power_n of_o free_a will_n but_o that_o it_o may_v send_v forth_o evyll_n affection_n as_o dart_n into_o every_o part_n affection_n of_o sin_n lust_n if_o that_o inward_a master_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v not_o present_a but_o observe_v here_o that_o the_o law_n be_v match_v with_o the_o corrupt_a nature_n of_o man_n who_o perversitie_n and_o lust_n the_o more_o it_o be_v restrain_v by_o the_o bar_n of_o the_o law_n the_o more_o furious_o it_o burst_v forth_o he_o add_v again_o so_o long_o as_o the_o affection_n of_o the_o flesh_n be_v rule_v under_o the_o law_n they_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n unto_o death_n that_o they_o may_v show_v how_o the_o law_n by_o itself_o kill_v whereby_o it_o follow_v that_o they_o be_v foolish_a live_v be_v very_o significant_a because_o the_o absence_n of_o the_o law_n make_v that_o he_o live_v that_o be_v be_v puff_v up_o with_o the_o confidence_n of_o his_o own_o righteousness_n he_o challenge_v life_n unto_o himself_o when_o nevertheless_o he_o be_v dead_a that_o the_o sentence_n may_v be_v more_o clear_a resolve_v it_o thus_o when_o sometime_o i_o be_v without_o law_n i_o live_v not_o see_v that_o i_o be_v a_o sinner_n do_v please_v myself_o in_o myself_o think_v that_o i_o have_v life_n at_o home_n with_o myself_o for_o the_o death_n of_o sin_n be_v the_o life_n of_o man_n again_o the_o life_n of_o sin_n be_v the_o death_n of_o man_n but_o the_o question_n be_v what_o time_n that_o be_v law_n 2._o cor._n 3.14_o how_o paul_n be_v bring_v up_o of_o a_o child_n in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o law_n be_v say_v to_o have_v live_v sometime_o without_o law_n wherein_o by_o the_o ignorance_n of_o the_o law_n or_o as_o he_o say_v by_o the_o absence_n of_o the_o law_n he_o do_v confident_o claim_v life_n unto_o himself_o for_o sure_a it_o be_v he_o be_v bring_v up_o of_o a_o child_n in_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o law_n but_o that_o be_v a_o literal_a divinity_n which_o do_v not_o humble_a his_o disciple_n for_o as_o he_o say_v in_o another_o place_n the_o veil_n be_v interpose_v that_o the_o jew_n can_v not_o see_v the_o light_n of_o life_n in_o the_o law_n so_o he_o also_o so_o long_o as_o he_o be_v void_a of_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n have_v his_o eye_n cover_v do_v please_v himself_o in_o the_o external_a show_n of_o righteousness_n he_o therefore_o count_v the_o law_n absent_a which_o though_o it_o be_v present_a before_o his_o eye_n yet_o do_v not_o smite_v he_o with_o a_o perfect_v sense_n of_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o lord_n thus_o be_v the_o eye_n of_o hypocrite_n cover_v with_o a_o veil_n that_o they_o see_v not_o how_o much_o this_o precept_n require_v wherein_o we_o be_v forbid_v of_o concupiscence_n but_o when_o the_o commandment_n come_v so_o now_o on_o the_o contrary_n he_o count_v the_o law_n then_o to_o come_v when_o it_o begin_v true_o to_o be_v understand_v the_o law_n therefore_o do_v as_o a_o man_n be_v for_o that_o none_o do_v keep_v it_o may_v obtain_v eternal_a life_n if_o the_o pravity_n of_o we_o all_o do_v not_o hinder_v it_o 2._o but_o because_o there_o be_v none_o of_o we_o that_o keep_v the_o law_n but_o rather_o we_o be_v altogether_o carry_v headlong_o into_o that_o kind_n of_o life_n from_o the_o which_o it_o do_v call_v we_o it_o can_v bring_v nothing_o else_o but_o death_n matter_n of_o glory_v against_o those_o be_v preposterous_o zealous_a over_o the_o law_n who_o esteem_v more_o of_o the_o dead_a letter_n then_o of_o the_o inward_a virtue_n of_o the_o spirit_n which_o quicken_v the_o law_n furthermore_o this_o place_n teach_v that_o paul_n by_o the_o name_n of_o spirit_n mean_v not_o the_o mind_n or_o understanding_n which_o of_o the_o patroness_n of_o free_a will_n be_v call_v the_o more_o excellent_a part_n of_o the_o soul_n but_o the_o heavenly_a gift_n for_o he_o expound_v those_o to_o be_v spiritual_a not_o which_o obey_v reason_n by_o their_o own_o motion_n but_o who_o god_n govern_v by_o his_o spirit_n spiritual_a who_o and_o how_o they_o be_v call_v spiritual_a neither_o yet_o be_v they_o say_v to_o be_v according_a to_o the_o spirit_n as_o though_o they_o be_v full_a of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n which_o thing_n have_v happen_v to_o none_o yet_o but_o because_o they_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n abide_v in_o they_o howesoever_o they_o feel_v some_o relic_n of_o the_o flesh_n remain_v in_o they_o and_o it_o can_v mean_v the_o spirit_n can_v remain_v except_o it_o have_v the_o superiority_n for_o we_o be_v to_o note_v that_o a_o man_n be_v name_v of_o the_o chief_a part_n in_o he_o but_o if_o any_o have_v not_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n he_o add_v this_o that_o he_o may_v show_v how_o necessary_a the_o denial_n of_o the_o flesh_n be_v in_o christian_n the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v the_o abolish_n of_o the_o flesh_n in_o who_o the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n reign_v not_o they_o do_v not_o appertain_v unto_o christ_n then_o they_o be_v not_o christian_n that_o serve_v the_o flesh_n for_o they_o who_o pull_v christ_n away_o from_o his_o spirit_n make_v he_o like_a unto_o a_o dead_a image_n or_o carcase_n and_o always_o we_o be_v to_o remember_v that_o counsel_n of_o the_o apostle_n name_o that_o free_a remission_n of_o sin_n can_v be_v separate_v from_o the_o spirit_n of_o adversary_n of_o the_o gospel_n with_o arrogancy_n that_o we_o dare_v acknowledge_v the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n dwell_v in_o us._n for_o either_o we_o must_v deny_v christ_n or_o confess_v that_o we_o be_v christian_n by_o his_o spirit_n sure_o it_o be_v horrible_a to_o hear_v that_o man_n be_v so_o fall_v from_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o they_o do_v not_o only_o boast_v themselves_o to_o be_v christian_n without_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n but_o also_o they_o scoff_v at_o the_o faith_n of_o other_o but_o this_o be_v the_o philosophy_n of_o papist_n now_o very_o let_v the_o reader_n mark_v here_o that_o the_o spirit_n be_v indifferent_o sometime_o call_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n the_o father_n sometime_o of_o christ_n not_o only_o because_o all_o the_o fullness_n thereof_o be_v shed_v upon_o christ_n christ_n how_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n be_v also_o call_v the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n as_o he_o be_v our_o mediator_n and_o head_n that_o from_o thence_o may_v redownde_v to_o every_o one_o of_o we_o his_o portion_n but_o also_o because_o the_o same_o spirit_n be_v common_a to_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n who_o have_v one_o essence_n add_v the_o same_o eternal_a deity_n yet_o because_o we_o have_v no_o communication_n with_o god_n but_o through_o christ_n the_o apostle_n very_o wise_o descend_v from_o the_o father_n who_o seem_v to_o be_v further_o christ_n dwelling_n in_o us._n for_o as_o by_o his_o spirit_n he_o consecrate_v we_o for_o temple_n to_o himself_o so_o by_o the_o same_o spirit_n he_o dwell_v in_o we_o and_o now_o he_o do_v more_o clear_o open_a that_o which_o we_o touch_v before_o us._n how_o christ_n dwell_v in_o us._n namely_o that_o the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v count_v spiritual_a not_o in_o respect_n of_o a_o full_a and_o
