he_o be_v imprison_v but_o now_o he_o be_v free_a who_o be_v our_o surety_n yea_o and_o that_o he_o be_v not_o free_a as_o one_o escape_v who_o have_v break_v prison_n and_o run_v away_o for_o then_o he_o can_v not_o have_v stay_v in_o heaven_n no_o more_o than_o adam_n can_v stay_v in_o paradise_n after_o his_o fall_n but_o now_o that_o christ_n remain_v in_o heaven_n perfect_o and_o for_o ever_o reconcile_v with_o the_o father_n this_o be_v a_o sure_a sign_n to_o we_o that_o the_o debt_n be_v pay_v and_o everlasting_a peace_n and_o righteousness_n bring_v in_o for_o our_o salvation_n this_o the_o apostle_n enlarge_v and_o show_v this_o to_o be_v that_o righteousness_n which_o adam_n have_v and_o which_o we_o must_v trust_v all_o unto_o and_o this_o he_o do_v unto_o the_o six_o chapter_n from_o whence_o the_o apostle_n go_v on_o to_o the_o three_o point_n convincin_n the_o world_n of_o judgement_n and_o of_o righteousness_n unto_o the_o nine_o chapter_n which_o be_v two_o word_n signify_v one_o and_o the_o same_o thing_n but_o because_o he_o have_v name_v righteousness_n before_o which_o be_v the_o righteousness_n of_o justification_n without_o a_o man_n in_o christ_n jesus_n he_o call_v the_o three_o judgement_n which_o be_v that_o integrity_n which_o be_v inherent_a breed_v and_o create_v in_o we_o to_o wit_n sanctification_n as_o we_o may_v see_v in_o isaiah_n 42.3_o where_o it_o be_v say_v of_o christ_n a_o bruise_a reed_n shall_v be_v not_o break_v and_o the_o smoke_a flax_n shall_v he_o not_o quench_v till_o he_o bring_v forth_o judgement_n unto_o victory_n where_o he_o show_v judgement_n to_o be_v a_o beginning_n of_o righteousness_n in_o sanctification_n even_o such_o a_o one_o as_o can_v never_o be_v extinguish_v so_o job_n 27.2_o the_o word_n be_v take_v where_o job_n expostulate_v the_o matter_n as_o the_o lord_n live_v who_o have_v take_v away_o my_o judgement_n etc._n etc._n all_o the_o while_o my_o breath_n be_v in_o i_o and_o the_o advance_v and_o make_v effectual_a that_o weak_a righteousness_n and_o sanctification_n begin_v in_o we_o until_o it_o shall_v prevail_v against_o and_o master_v all_o our_o sin_n and_o corruption_n make_v it_o in_o the_o end_n a_o victorious_a sanctification_n and_o the_o ground_n hereof_o be_v for_o the_o prince_n of_o this_o world_n be_v judge_v he_o be_v like_o one_o manacle_v who_o strength_n and_o power_n be_v limit_v so_o that_o now_o though_o he_o be_v strong_a yet_o he_o be_v cast_v out_o by_o a_o strong_a than_o he_o so_o that_o he_o can_v nor_o shall_v he_o ever_o rule_v spirit_n as_o we_o shall_v show_v in_o its_o own_o place_n so_o that_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n do_v two_o thing_n unto_o we_o in_o justification_n it_o cover_v our_o sin_n and_o in_o sanctification_n it_o heal_v our_o sin_n and_o sore_n that_o if_o there_o be_v any_o proud_a or_o dead_a flesh_n it_o eat_v it_o out_o and_o then_o heal_v the_o wound_n therefore_o the_o apostle_n say_v you_o be_v not_o under_o the_o law_n but_o under_o grace_n he_o that_o see_v the_o law_n be_v satisfy_v by_o another_o and_o all_o to_o be_v of_o free_a grace_n he_o will_v not_o much_o stand_n on_o any_o thing_n in_o himself_o for_o his_o justification_n but_o as_o a_o poor_a beggar_n be_v content_a all_o shall_v be_v of_o mere_a grace_n therefore_o he_o conclude_v sin_n shall_v not_o speak_v to_o this_o purpose_n ephes._n 2.21_o that_o thus_o by_o one_o spirit_n we_o be_v build_v up_o and_o make_v the_o temple_n of_o god_n and_o come_v to_o be_v the_o habitation_n of_o god_n through_o the_o spirit_n so_o that_o by_o this_o mean_v we_o be_v unseparable_o knit_v and_o unite_v unto_o he_o for_o what_o iâ—_n it_o make_v one_o member_n to_o be_v a_o member_n to_o another_o not_o the_o nearness_n of_o join_v or_o lie_v one_o to_o or_o upon_o another_o but_o the_o same_o quicken_a spirit_n and_o life_n which_o be_v in_o both_o and_o which_o cause_v a_o like_a motion_n for_o otherwise_o if_o the_o same_o life_n be_v not_o in_o that_o member_n it_o will_v be_v dead_a and_o of_o no_o use_n to_o the_o other_o so_o that_o it_o be_v the_o same_o spirit_n and_o life_n in_o the_o thing_n conjoin_v which_o unite_v they_o together_o yet_o to_o explain_v this_o more_o as_o i_o have_v often_o in_o the_o like_a case_n say_v imagine_v a_o man_n be_v as_o high_a as_o heaven_n the_o same_o spirit_n and_o life_n be_v diffuse_v into_o all_o his_o part_n what_o be_v it_o now_o that_o can_v cause_v his_o toe_n to_o stir_v there_o be_v such_o a_o huge_a distance_n betwixt_o the_o head_n and_o it_o even_o that_o selfsame_a life_n which_o be_v in_o the_o head_n be_v in_o it_o no_o soon_o do_v the_o head_n will_v the_o toe_n to_o stir_v but_o it_o move_v so_o be_v it_o with_o we_o
that_o very_a spirit_n which_o be_v in_o christ_n be_v in_o we_o thereby_o we_o be_v unite_v unto_o he_o grow_v in_o he_o live_v in_o he_o and_o he_o in_o we_o rejoice_v in_o he_o and_o so_o be_v keep_v and_o preserve_v to_o be_v glorify_v with_o he_o he_o be_v the_o second_o adam_n from_o who_o we_o receive_v the_o influence_n of_o all_o good_a thing_n shower_v down_o and_o distil_v the_o grace_n of_o his_o spirit_n upon_o the_o least_o of_o all_o his_o member_n that_o look_n as_o it_o be_v say_v of_o aaron_n who_o be_v a_o type_n of_o the_o second_o adam_n and_o of_o that_o holy_a oil_n represent_v the_o grace_n of_o his_o spirit_n which_o do_v not_o only_o run_v down_o his_o head_n and_o beard_n but_o the_o skirt_n of_o his_o garment_n also_o and_o all_o his_o rich_a attire_n about_o psal._n 133.2_o so_o when_o i_o see_v the_o oil_n of_o christ_n grace_n and_o spirit_n not_o only_o rest_v upon_o the_o head_n but_o also_o descend_v and_o run_v down_o upon_o the_o low_a of_o his_o member_n make_v i_o now_o as_o one_o of_o they_o in_o some_o sort_n another_o man_n than_o i_o be_v or_o my_o natural_a state_n can_v make_v i_o by_o the_o same_o spirit_n i_o know_v i_o be_o unite_v unto_o christ._n to_o this_o purpose_n be_v that_o which_o christ_n to_o stand_v upon_o in_o joh._n 6._o unto_o the_o jew_n where_o speak_v of_o the_o eat_n of_o his_o flesh_n and_o that_o god_n so_o we_o as_o true_o by_o conveyance_n of_o the_o same_o spirit_n into_o we_o be_v his_o son_n by_o adoption_n and_o so_o heir_n with_o god_n yea_o and_o joint_a heir_n with_o christ_n this_o he_o begin_v to_o show_v vers_fw-la 13._o so_o that_o be_v in_o this_o excellent_a estate_n they_o be_v not_o only_a servant_n and_o friend_n a_o most_o high_a prerogative_n but_o they_o be_v now_o the_o son_n of_o god_n have_v the_o spirit_n of_o adoption_n whereby_o they_o may_v bold_o call_v god_n father_n in_o which_o verse_n the_o apostle_n oppose_v the_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n which_o of_o death_n that_o be_v the_o devil_n and_o deliver_v they_o who_o through_o fear_n of_o death_n be_v all_o their_o life_n time_n subject_a unto_o bondage_n the_o first_o work_n then_o of_o the_o comforter_n be_v to_o put_v a_o man_n in_o fear_n 2._o here_o be_v show_v that_o until_o the_o spirit_n do_v work_v this_o fear_n the_o heart_n will_v not_o stoop_v the_o obstinacy_n be_v great_a yea_o so_o great_a that_o if_o hell_n gate_n be_v open_a ready_a to_o swallow_v up_o a_o man_n he_o will_v not_o yield_v until_o the_o spirit_n set_v in_o to_o convince_v the_o heart_n therefore_o st._n john_n tell_v we_o joh._n 16._o that_o when_o the_o spirit_n it_o come_v he_o will_v reprove_v the_o world_n of_o sin_n that_o be_v he_o will_v convince_v and_o show_v a_o man_n that_o he_o be_v but_o a_o bondman_n and_o so_o from_o this_o sight_n he_o make_v we_o to_o fear_v no_o man_n must_v think_v this_o strange_a that_o god_n deal_v with_o man_n at_o first_o after_o this_o harsh_a manner_n to_o kill_v they_o as_o it_o be_v before_o he_o make_v they_o alive_a nor_o be_v discourage_v as_o if_o god_n have_v now_o cast_v they_o off_o as_o none_o of_o he_o for_o this_o bondage_n and_o spirit_n of_o fear_n be_v a_o work_n of_o god_n spirit_n and_o a_o preparative_n to_o the_o rest_n yet_o it_o be_v but_o a_o common_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o such_o a_o one_o that_o unless_o more_o follow_v it_o can_v afford_v we_o no_o comfort_n but_o why_o then_o do_v god_n suffer_v his_o child_n to_o be_v first_o terrify_v with_o this_o fear_n i_o answer_v that_o in_o two_o respect_n this_o be_v the_o best_a and_o wise_a course_n to_o deal_v with_o we_o or_o else_o many_o will_v put_v off_o the_o matter_n and_o never_o attain_v a_o sense_n of_o mercy_n first_o in_o respect_n of_o god_n glory_n second_o in_o regard_n of_o our_o good_a first_o in_o respect_n of_o god_n glory_n and_o that_o first_o because_o as_o in_o the_o work_n of_o creation_n so_o in_o the_o work_n of_o redemption_n god_n will_v have_v the_o praise_n of_o all_o his_o attribute_n for_o as_o in_o the_o work_n of_o creation_n there_o appear_v the_o infinite_a wisdom_n goodness_n power_n justice_n mercy_n of_o god_n and_o the_o like_a so_o will_v he_o in_o the_o work_n of_o our_o redemption_n have_v all_o these_o appear_v in_o their_o strength_n and_o brightness_n and_o when_o we_o see_v and_o acknowledge_v these_o thing_n to_o be_v in_o gâ—d_n in_o the_o high_a perfection_n hereby_o we_o honour_v he_o as_o on_o the_o contrary_a when_o we_o will_v not_o see_v and_o acknowledge_v the_o excellency_n of_o god_n infinite_a attribute_n we_o dishonour_v he_o yea_o and_o i_o may_v safe_o add_v that_o the_o work_n of_o redemption_n be_v a_o great_a work_n than_o the_o work_n of_o creation_n for_o therein_o appear_v all_o the_o treasure_n of_o wisdom_n and_o knowledge_n in_o the_o convey_n of_o it_o unto_o the_o church_n herein_o appear_v first_o infinite_a wisdom_n in_o order_v the_o matter_n so_o as_o to_o find_v out_o such_o a_o way_n for_o the_o redemption_n of_o mankind_n as_o no_o create_a understanding_n can_v possible_o imagine_v or_o think_v of_o and_o second_o for_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n there_o can_v be_v none_o comparable_a to_o this_o in_o not_o spare_v his_o own_o son_n the_o son_n of_o his_o love_n that_o so_o he_o may_v spare_v we_o who_o have_v so_o grievous_o provoke_v he_o and_o three_o there_o can_v not_o be_v so_o much_o justice_n see_v in_o any_o thing_n as_o in_o spare_v we_o not_o to_o spare_v his_o son_n in_o lay_v his_o son_n head_n as_o it_o be_v upon_o the_o block_n and_o chap_a it_o off_o indeed_o the_o death_n unto_o which_o he_o give_v his_o son_n be_v not_o only_o more_o vile_a than_o the_o loss_n of_o his_o head_n but_o far_o more_o painful_a and_o terrible_a to_o nature_n the_o death_n on_o the_o cross_n in_o rent_v and_o tear_v that_o bless_a body_n of_o he_o even_o as_o the_o veil_n of_o the_o temple_n be_v rend_v which_o be_v a_o type_n of_o he_o so_o be_v he_o rend_v and_o tear_v and_o break_v for_o we_o when_o he_o make_v his_o soul_n a_o offering_n for_o sin_n this_o be_v the_o perfection_n of_o justice_n and_o thus_o be_v he_o just_a as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v and_o the_o justifyer_n of_o he_o he_o that_o believe_v in_o jesus_n god_n will_v have_v justice_n and_o mercy_n meet_v and_o kiss_v each_o other_o and_o that_o for_o two_o reason_n for_o the_o magnify_n of_o his_o justice_n and_o for_o the_o magnify_n of_o his_o mercy_n first_o for_o the_o magnify_n of_o his_o justice_n the_o spirit_n must_v first_o become_v a_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n and_o fear_n for_o the_o magnify_n of_o god_n justice_n thus_o the_o prophet_n david_n have_v sin_v be_v drive_v to_o this_o practice_n psal._n 51.4_o against_o thou_o thou_o only_o have_v i_o sin_v and_o do_v this_o evil_n in_o thy_o sight_n that_o thou_o may_v be_v justify_v when_o thou_o speak_v and_o be_v clear_a when_o
