it_o be_v no_o wonder_n that_o man_n who_o be_v conscious_a to_o themselves_o of_o condemn_a guilt_n dare_v not_o think_v of_o stand_v before_o the_o dreadful_a tribunal_n of_o god_n and_o death_n now_o be_v god_n sergeant_n to_o arrest_v they_o and_o to_o bring_v they_o thither_o they_o can_v bear_v the_o thought_n of_o eternal_a vengeance_n and_o prepare_v torment_n to_o be_v for_o ever_o inflict_v on_o they_o by_o the_o almighty_a power_n of_o a_o incense_a god_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v no_o wonder_n that_o they_o put_v far_o from_o they_o the_o thought_n of_o death_n because_o their_o conscience_n tell_v they_o that_o that_o day_n whensoever_o it_o come_v will_v be_v to_o they_o a_o evil_a day_n many_o more_o reason_n may_v be_v give_v of_o this_o brutishness_n of_o man_n in_o put_v off_o the_o thought_n of_o death_n and_o preparation_n for_o it_o but_o these_o shall_v suffice_v the_o next_o thing_n that_o i_o shall_v do_v shall_v be_v to_o lay_v down_o some_o consideration_n that_o may_v fore-arm_n christian_n against_o the_o fear_n and_o terror_n of_o death_n death_n consideration_n to_o arm_n man_n against_o the_o fear_n of_o death_n and_o make_v they_o willing_a to_o submit_v unto_o this_o law_n of_o die_v unto_o which_o god_n have_v subject_v all_o man_n and_o first_o life_n the_o soul_n be_v immortal_a and_o part_v with_o this_o it_o enter_v judgement_n and_o wrath_n â—s_v due_a to_o he_o that_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o he_o to_o escape_v the_o vengeance_n of_o god_n that_o justice_n will_v overtake_v he_o read_v to_o he_o all_o the_o curse_n contain_v in_o the_o book_n of_o god_n and_o tell_v he_o that_o they_o be_v all_o entail_v upon_o his_o sin_n this_o move_v he_o not_o he_o know_v and_o consider_v all_o this_o before_o a_o the_o midst_n of_o it_o now_o then_o though_o these_o presumptuous_a sin_n be_v in_o their_o nature_n and_o aggravation_n so_o heinous_a yet_o be_v the_o best_a christian_n exceed_v prone_a to_o commit_v they_o when_o the_o sea_n be_v tempestuous_a do_v we_o only_o stand_v safe_a upon_o the_o shore_n it_o be_v enough_o to_o behold_v the_o woeful_a shipwreck_n of_o other_o with_o that_o horror_n and_o commiseration_n that_o such_o a_o spectacle_n deserve_v but_o when_o we_o be_v toss_v in_o the_o same_o tempest_n and_o see_v some_o split_n against_o rock_n and_o other_o swallow_v up_o of_o quick_a sand_n unto_o which_o natural_o the_o stream_n strong_o carry_v we_o also_o true_o then_o our_o pity_n and_o detestation_n of_o their_o danger_n our_o horror_n and_o consternation_n of_o their_o ruin_n be_v not_o sufficient_a without_o great_a care_n and_o diligence_n for_o our_o own_o security_n and_o preservation_n therefore_o o_o christian_n look_v to_o yourselves_o the_o glorify_a saint_n in_o heaven_n see_v the_o danger_n they_o have_v escape_v with_o praise_n and_o the_o danger_n other_o fall_v into_o with_o pity_n but_o thou_o o_fw-fr christian_n be_v not_o yet_o goodness_n that_o thou_o daily_o extende_v towards_o i_o thus_o true_a grace_n usual_o teach_v a_o child_n of_o god_n to_o argue_v against_o his_o sin_n and_o this_o keep_v he_o from_o the_o earth_n that_o cover_v it_o and_o spread_v itself_o into_o the_o beauty_n of_o a_o flower_n so_o be_v it_o here_o inherent_a habitual_a grace_n be_v a_o immortal_a seed_n and_o it_o be_v but_o a_o seed_n till_o the_o influence_n of_o the_o approach_a and_o exciting_a grace_n of_o god_n awaken_v it_o and_o chafe_v its_o benumb_a virtue_n and_o then_o it_o stir_v and_o thrust_v away_o all_o that_o dung_n and_o filth_n of_o corruption_n under_o which_o it_o lay_v bury_v and_o then_o it_o flow_v forth_o into_o actual_a grace_n habitual_a and_o exciting_a grace_n must_v both_o concur_v to_o the_o produce_v of_o actual_a grace_n as_o necessary_o as_o there_o must_v be_v the_o concurrence_n both_o of_o the_o heat_n of_o the_o sun_n and_o of_o life_n in_o the_o seed_n to_o produce_v a_o flower_n now_o by_o god_n exciting_a inherent_a habitual_a grace_n in_o the_o soul_n he_o keep_v man_n from_o sin_v two_o way_n first_o by_o prevention_n and_o second_o by_o suppression_n of_o sin_n first_o hereby_o he_o prevent_v and_o exclude_v those_o sin_n that_o werâ—_n we_o not_o employ_v in_o the_o exercise_n of_o gracâ—_n we_o will_v commit_v when_o the_o soul_n be_v constant_o employ_v they_o who_o thus_o argue_v and_o who_o thus_o act_n never_o know_v what_o a_o sweet_a and_o powerful_a attractiveness_n there_o be_v in_o the_o sense_n of_o pardon_v grace_n and_o love_n to_o win_v over_o the_o heart_n from_o the_o practice_n of_o those_o sin_n that_o god_n have_v forget_v to_o punish_v god_n pardon_v grace_n engage_v to_o love_n god_n second_o this_o shall_v engage_v we_o to_o love_n that_o god_n who_o so_o love_v we_o as_o free_o for_o his_o own_o sake_n to_o forgive_v we_o such_o vast_a debt_n and_o such_o multiply_a sin_n this_o be_v the_o import_n of_o that_o speech_n of_o our_o saviour_n he_o love_v most_o to_o who_o most_o be_v forgive_v he_o and_o hence_o it_o be_v and_o you_o may_v common_o observe_v it_o that_o none_o be_v such_o great_a lover_n and_o it_o be_v clear_a that_o pardon_n and_o remission_n of_o sin_n be_v nothing_o but_o the_o removal_n of_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n the_o question_n be_v whether_o it_o remove_v that_o guilt_n that_o consist_v in_o the_o desert_n of_o punishment_n or_o that_o which_o consist_v in_o the_o voluntary_a appointment_n of_o it_o unto_o punishment_n or_o both_o answer_n to_o this_o i_o answer_v pardon_v of_o sin_n do_v not_o remove_v the_o intrinsical_a desert_n of_o punishment_n but_o only_o the_o adventitious_a appointment_n and_o ordination_n of_o it_o unto_o punishment_n flow_v from_o the_o will_n of_o god_n who_o have_v in_o his_o own_o law_n threaten_v to_o punish_v sin_n remission_n do_v not_o make_v that_o the_o sin_n even_o of_o believer_n themselves_o shall_v not_o deserve_v
