they_o without_o excuse_n and_o oft_o time_n also_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o some_o be_v heal_v and_o the_o faithful_a in_o like_a manner_n do_v profit_n by_o it_o when_o they_o understand_v what_o shall_v befall_v the_o wicked_a and_o reprobate_a by_o execute_v such_o horrible_a judgement_n upon_o they_o verse_n 11._o the_o high_a look_n of_o man_n shall_v be_v humble_v and_o the_o but_o to_o do_v whatsoever_o they_o listen_v without_o check_n or_o controlment_n for_o we_o ourselves_o have_v experience_n at_o this_o day_n how_o tender_a and_o delicate_a yea_o and_o how_o easy_o such_o take_v pepper_n in_o the_o nose_n who_o attribute_n to_o themselves_o more_o than_o there_o be_v cause_n why_o and_o in_o the_o end_n how_o obstinate_o they_o reject_v all_o wholesome_a admonition_n for_o this_o cause_n it_o be_v that_o the_o prophet_n do_v thus_o sit_o sharpen_v his_o stile_n against_o such_o jolly_a fellow_n in_o particular_a rather_o than_o to_o threaten_v the_o will_v be_v the_o more_o apparent_a for_o it_o be_v a_o horrible_a spectacle_n to_o see_v the_o rich_a and_o chief_a man_n in_o who_o consist_v the_o credit_n of_o the_o whole_a nation_n to_o wander_v up_o and_o down_o die_v for_o hunger_n and_o yet_o god_n pass_v not_o measure_n in_o execute_v so_o rigorous_a a_o judgement_n upon_o they_o because_o we_o must_v always_o have_v a_o eye_n to_o the_o root_n of_o their_o ignorance_n to_o wit_n that_o the_o jew_n be_v become_v whole_o desperate_a so_o as_o they_o obstinate_o reject_v the_o light_n of_o the_o heavenly_a doctrine_n yea_o they_o stop_v their_o ear_n against_o the_o lord_n when_o he_o be_v ready_a to_o perform_v the_o office_n of_o a_o good_a master_n in_o teach_v they_o from_o hence_o we_o gather_v a_o very_a profitable_a doctrine_n namely_o that_o the_o fountain_n from_o whence_o all_o plague_n do_v flow_v be_v because_o we_o can_v endure_v to_o be_v teach_v by_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o that_o be_v the_o principal_a thing_n which_o the_o prophet_n will_v have_v we_o to_o mark_v but_o some_o may_v ask_v whether_o ignorance_n be_v the_o cause_n of_o all_o evil_n object_n for_o we_o see_v that_o many_o offend_v not_o so_o much_o of_o ignorance_n as_o of_o rebellion_n and_o although_o they_o see_v what_o be_v right_a yet_o notwithstanding_o they_o will_v not_o follow_v it_o whence_o it_o follow_v that_o they_o sin_n witting_o and_o not_o only_o of_o oversight_n ans_fw-fr i_o answer_v that_o ignorance_n be_v sometime_o near_o and_o sometime_o further_o of_o that_o be_v this_o man_n want_v the_o mean_n and_o the_o other_o have_v the_o mean_n as_o they_o say_v ignorance_n be_v say_v to_o be_v near_o when_o man_n deceive_v themselves_o under_o some_o pretence_n ignorance_n a_o simple_a ignorance_n and_o affect_a ignorance_n and_o do_v witting_o blindfold_v themselves_o that_o which_o be_v far_o off_o be_v when_o man_n reject_v the_o principle_n whereby_o they_o ought_v to_o take_v direction_n for_o the_o rule_n of_o their_o life_n for_o they_o ought_v to_o look_v direct_o unto_o god_n and_o his_o will_n but_o when_o they_o despise_v it_o they_o be_v rebellious_a and_o obstinate_a yet_o notwithstanding_o such_o be_v ignorant_a because_o they_o will_v not_o learn_v but_o revolt_v from_o the_o foundation_n and_o yet_o that_o ignorance_n excuse_v they_o not_o which_o they_o willing_o embrace_v in_o reject_v such_o a_o teacher_n wherefore_o this_o sentence_n remain_v sure_a that_o the_o people_n be_v diverse_a way_n afflict_v because_o they_o know_v not_o god_n neither_o will_v suffer_v themselves_o to_o be_v teach_v by_o he_o verse_n 14._o therefore_o hell_n have_v enlarge_v soul_n enlarge_v or_o his_o soul_n itself_o and_o have_v open_v his_o mouth_n without_o measure_n and_o their_o glory_n and_o their_o multitude_n and_o their_o pomp_n and_o he_o that_o rejoice_v among_o they_o shall_v descend_v into_o it_o by_o this_o verse_n the_o prophet_n mean_v to_o press_v sufficient_a that_o we_o faithful_o serve_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o that_o our_o labour_n be_v please_v to_o he_o neither_o be_v the_o sound_n of_o our_o voice_n in_o vain_a when_o it_o leave_v the_o world_n without_o excuse_n the_o faithful_a teacher_n ought_v here_o to_o receive_v a_o singular_a consolation_n to_o fortify_v themselves_o the_o better_a always_o against_o the_o offence_n which_o fall_v out_o every_o day_n by_o the_o rebellion_n of_o man_n lest_o they_o be_v thereby_o cool_v no_o let_v they_o continue_v in_o their_o office_n with_o invincible_a constancy_n now_o farasmuch_o as_o this_o also_o be_v a_o general_a offence_n to_o wit_n that_o the_o lively_a word_n of_o god_n at_o the_o hear_n whereof_o all_o the_o world_n ought_v to_o tremble_v strike_v brag_v of_o the_o name_n of_o god_n it_o happen_v to_o we_o even_o as_o if_o we_o tell_v a_o tale_n to_o deaf_a ear_n true_a it_o be_v this_o be_v a_o sharp_a message_n that_o the_o prophet_n shall_v say_v he_o be_v send_v of_o god_n to_o stop_v up_o their_o ear_n to_o shut_v their_o eye_n and_o to_o make_v their_o heart_n fat_a because_o it_o seem_v these_o thing_n be_v nothing_o agreeable_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o god_n and_o that_o therefore_o they_o be_v contrary_a to_o his_o word_n but_o we_o must_v not_o think_v it_o strange_a if_o god_n avenge_v himself_o upon_o the_o malice_n of_o the_o people_n by_o such_o a_o extreme_a blind_n of_o they_o in_o the_o mean_a while_o the_o prophet_n have_v show_v heretofore_o that_o the_o cause_n of_o this_o blindness_n be_v in_o themselves_o for_o in_o command_v they_o to_o hearken_v he_o testify_v that_o there_o be_v a_o doctrine_n fit_a for_o their_o instruction_n if_o they_o will_v show_v themselves_o teachable_a and_o that_o the_o light_n be_v offer_v to_o enlighten_v &_o lead_v they_o if_o so_o be_v they_o will_v open_v their_o eye_n all_o the_o fault_n than_o be_v impute_v unto_o the_o people_n because_o they_o reject_v so_o wonderful_a a_o blessing_n of_o god_n whence_o the_o solution_n of_o the_o difficulty_n which_o we_o touch_v a_o little_a before_o be_v more_o apparent_a i_o grant_v it_o seem_v very_o hard_a at_o the_o first_o blush_n that_o the_o prophet_n shall_v make_v the_o heart_n of_o man_n more_o hard_a see_v they_o bring_v the_o word_n of_o god_n in_o their_o mouth_n by_o which_o as_o by_o a_o light_a man_n shall_v lighten_v and_o order_v their_o path_n psal_n 119.105_o and_o we_o know_v that_o david_n give_v it_o this_o title_n psal_n 19.9_o it_o be_v not_o the_o office_n of_o the_o prophet_n in_o the_o former_a chapter_n 33.34_o verse_n 33.34_o for_o there_o he_o say_v that_o judea_n shall_v be_v bring_v to_o nought_o even_o as_o the_o fire_n consume_v the_o forest_n the_o deformity_n of_o this_o country_n than_o shall_v resemble_v a_o waste_a ground_n where_o nothing_o can_v be_v discern_v but_o ash_n after_o the_o tree_n have_v be_v consume_v with_o fire_n but_o to_o the_o end_n there_o may_v be_v some_o resemblance_n between_o thing_n opposite_a he_o say_v that_o a_o rod_n shall_v come_v forth_o of_o a_o stock_n which_o yet_o shall_v become_v a_o tree_n and_o shall_v the_o calamity_n to_o come_v although_o it_o can_v not_o but_o be_v irksome_a and_o grievous_a to_o he_o to_o think_v of_o it_o the_o xl._n chapter_n verse_n 1._o comfort_v you_o comfort_v you_o my_o people_n will_v your_o god_n say_v prophecy_n the_o occasion_n of_o this_o prophecy_n now_o the_o prophet_n enter_v upon_o a_o new_a argument_n for_o he_o let_v the_o people_n alone_o which_o make_v no_o use_n neither_o of_o admonition_n nor_o threaten_n whatsoever_o in_o regard_n they_o be_v become_v malicious_o desperate_a and_o turn_v he_o towards_o the_o posterity_n to_o come_v to_o signify_v to_o those_o which_o shall_v be_v humble_v under_o the_o cross_n that_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v leave_v comfortless_o in_o the_o end_n no_o not_o in_o their_o deep_a distress_n it_o be_v very_o likely_a that_o this_o prophecy_n be_v write_v by_o he_o write_v the_o time_n when_o this_o prophecy_n be_v write_v when_o the_o time_n of_o the_o captivity_n draw_v near_o that_o after_o his_o death_n he_o may_v not_o leave_v the_o church_n behind_o he_o overwhelm_v with_o grievous_a calamity_n without_o hope_n of_o restauration_n now_o albeit_o that_o to_o the_o same_o end_n he_o have_v before_o mingle_v threaten_n and_o terror_n with_o his_o prophecy_n come_v the_o prophecy_n that_o go_v before_o respect_v those_o that_o then_o present_o live_v these_o that_o follow_v the_o estate_n of_o the_o church_n to_o come_v yet_o it_o seem_v he_o have_v a_o principal_a regard_n to_o those_o that_o then_o live_v but_o all_o that_o which_o follow_v hereafter_o touch_v the_o estate_n of_o the_o church_n to_o come_v which_o be_v restore_v long_o after_o the_o prophet_n death_n for_o he_o will_v now_o set_v down_o a_o perpetual_a doctrine_n which_o be_v not_o to_o be_v restrain_v to_o any_o particular_a time_n see_v he_o discourse_v both_o of_o the_o beginning_n and_o progress_n of_o christ_n kingdom_n of_o so_o much_o the_o great_a importance_n therefore_o ought_v this_o prophecy_n to_o be_v unto_o we_o by_o how_o much_o the_o more_o it_o belong_v particular_o unto_o we_o for_o our_o use_n for_o albeit_o we_o may_v evident_o discern_v in_o the_o former_a prophecy_n orme_a why_o the_o prophecy_n follow_v aught_o to_o be_v more_o high_o esteem_v of_o we_o then_o the_o orme_a that_o the_o doctrine_n therein_o contain_v be_v proper_a unto_o we_o as_o well_o as_o to_o the_o jew_n yet_o in_o regard_n he_o now_o leave_v the_o jew_n that_o then_o live_v and_o speak_v to_o their_o successor_n and_o indeed_o to_o all_o the_o faithful_a to_o the_o world_n end_n it_o seem_v indeed_o that_o the_o doctrine_n follow_v be_v more_o peculiar_a unto_o us._n the_o lord_n mean_v therefore_o to_o awaken_v the_o heart_n of_o the_o faithful_a by_o this_o exhortation_n lest_o they_o shall_v faint_v under_o so_o many_o calamity_n first_o then_o he_o speak_v to_o the_o jew_n which_o soon_o after_o be_v to_o be_v lead_v away_o captive_n into_o miserable_a servitude_n where_o they_o shall_v be_v deprive_v both_o of_o the_o sacrifice_n and_o prophet_n and_o leave_v destitute_a of_o all_o consolation_n have_v not_o the_o lord_n be_v please_v to_o have_v relieve_v they_o by_o the_o comfortable_a doctrine_n of_o these_o prophecy_n ensue_v in_o the_o second_o place_n he_o direct_v his_o speech_n to_o the_o whole_a kingdom_n of_o christ_n which_o shall_v succeed_v they_o soon_o after_o to_o the_o end_n they_o may_v then_o take_v heart_n unto_o they_o when_o in_o all_o likelihood_n they_o may_v seem_v in_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o world_n to_o be_v utterlie_o forlorn_a but_o to_o the_o end_n his_o word_n may_v have_v the_o more_o efficacy_n and_o may_v indeed_o come_v near_o the_o heart_n he_o bring_v in_o god_n raise_v up_o new_a prophet_n who_o he_o command_v to_o sweeten_v and_o assuage_v the_o dolour_n of_o his_o people_n by_o a_o amiable_a consolation_n the_o sum_n be_v prophecy_n the_o sum_n of_o this_o prophecy_n that_o after_o these_o poor_a banish_a exile_n shall_v have_v seem_v to_o have_v be_v forsake_v for_o a_o time_n that_o god_n favour_n and_o love_a kindness_n shall_v break_v forth_o as_o out_o of_o the_o darkness_n and_o the_o prophecy_n which_o be_v cease_v shall_v then_o be_v bring_v to_o light_v again_o now_o to_o amplify_v this_o their_o joy_n he_o use_v the_o plural_a number_n comfort_v you_o thereby_o show_v that_o he_o will_v not_o send_v one_o or_o two_o but_o many_o by_o troop_n which_o also_o come_v to_o pass_v indeed_o wherein_o also_o we_o may_v more_o clear_o behold_v the_o infinite_a love_n and_o mercy_n of_o god_n moreover_o it_o be_v diligent_o to_o be_v observe_v that_o the_o verb_n be_v put_v in_o the_o future_a tense_n will_v your_o god_n say_v which_o some_o expositor_n translate_v in_o the_o present_a tense_n or_o in_o the_o preterperfect_a tense_n but_o therein_o they_o both_o change_n and_o corrupt_v the_o sense_n for_o the_o prophet_n close_o note_v out_o the_o time_n wherein_o the_o people_n shall_v be_v greevous_o afflict_v as_o if_o god_n have_v not_o see_v they_o at_o all_o for_o howsoever_o the_o lord_n at_o that_o time_n leave_v they_o not_o destitute_a of_o hope_n touch_v their_o deliverance_n by_o send_v some_o prophet_n unto_o they_o yet_o in_o regard_n he_o defer_v they_o long_o and_o that_o while_o they_o be_v miserable_o persecute_v and_o in_o a_o manner_n half_n dead_a this_o consolation_n have_v no_o great_a efficacy_n till_o they_o see_v some_o evident_a sign_n of_o their_o return_n you_o comfort_v you_o comfort_v you_o the_o verb_n comfort_v therefore_o be_v to_o be_v apply_v to_o the_o present_a time_n which_o be_v twice_o repeat_v not_o only_o confirm_v the_o truth_n of_o the_o pprophecy_n but_o also_o set_v forth_o the_o power_n and_o efficacy_n of_o it_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v in_o this_o message_n there_o shall_v be_v a_o full_a perfect_a and_o perpetual_a occasion_n of_o gladness_n but_o especial_o they_o be_v to_o retain_v the_o futurtence_n will_v your_o god_n say_v for_o in_o these_o word_n there_o lie_v hide_v a_o close_a opposition_n between_o that_o doleful_a silence_n whereof_o i_o have_v speak_v and_o that_o comfortable_a doctrine_n which_o come_v in_o place_n of_o it_o this_o pprophecy_n be_v like_a to_o the_o complaint_n of_o the_o church_n psal_n 74._o we_o see_v not_o our_o sign_n our_o prophet_n be_v not_o and_o there_o be_v none_o leave_v that_o can_v tell_v we_o how_o long_a in_o which_o we_o know_v she_o lament_v as_o one_o leave_v destitute_a of_o true_a consolation_n because_o she_o can_v hear_v no_o promise_n of_o comfort_n in_o her_o distress_n the_o prophet_n meaning_n in_o this_o place_n than_o be_v the_o lord_n will_v not_o suffer_v you_o to_o be_v leave_v destitute_a of_o prophet_n which_o shall_v comfort_v you_o in_o your_o extreme_a adversity_n for_o than_o he_o will_v raise_v up_o man_n to_o who_o he_o will_v give_v that_o commission_n which_o you_o have_v so_o long_o desire_v and_o then_o will_v he_o show_v he_o have_v care_n of_o you_o now_o i_o refer_v this_o verb_n will_v say_v not_o only_o to_o the_o captivity_n of_o babylon_n but_o to_o the_o whole_a time_n of_o our_o deliverance_n which_o comprehend_v in_o it_o the_o kingdom_n of_o christ_n until_o his_o last_o come_n we_o must_v add_v that_o he_o will_v say_v to_o the_o prophetâ—_n who_o he_o will_v ordain_v for_o this_o purpose_n for_o in_o vain_a shall_v they_o utter_v
certain_a that_o we_o shall_v feel_v by_o woeful_a experience_n that_o the_o misery_n which_o befall_v these_o be_v common_a to_o all_o rebel_n verse_n 25._o therefore_o he_o have_v pour_v upon_o he_o his_o fierce_a wrath_n and_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o battle_n and_o set_v it_o on_o fire_n round_o about_o and_o he_o know_v not_o and_o it_o burn_v he_o up_o heart_n up_o or_o but_o he_o put_v whole_a country_n as_o the_o water_n gush_v forth_o hasty_o in_o the_o deluge_n after_o the_o window_n of_o heaven_n be_v break_v and_o that_o the_o bottle_n thereof_o be_v set_v open_a gen._n 6.11_o in_o the_o next_o place_n he_o use_v a_o other_o figure_n say_v that_o god_n will_v gather_v together_o his_o force_n to_o fight_v with_o this_o people_n and_o to_o assail_v they_o to_o the_o utmost_a if_o any_o understand_v this_o of_o the_o enemy_n which_o the_o lord_n raise_v up_o against_o the_o jew_n i_o gainsay_v he_o not_o for_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o they_o come_v forth_o by_o god_n just_a judgement_n for_o what_o be_v nebuchadnezzer_n but_o god_n rod_n yet_o i_o rather_o think_v it_o shall_v be_v take_v by_o way_n of_o similitude_n to_o wit_n that_o god_n enter_v by_o violence_n as_o a_o enemy_n arm_v and_o pour_v out_o his_o fierce_a wrath_n upon_o they_o now_o he_o have_v diverse_a mean_n to_o fight_v against_o we_o correct_v god_n have_v diverse_a mean_n to_o correct_v for_o he_o correct_v his_o people_n sometime_o by_o plague_n sometime_o by_o the_o sword_n sometime_o by_o famine_n and_o therefore_o i_o think_v that_o in_o this_o similitude_n he_o comprehend_v all_o sort_n of_o affliction_n wherewith_o the_o lord_n smite_v his_o people_n and_o if_o we_o think_v they_o now_o and_o then_o too_o sharp_a affliction_n we_o must_v set_v the_o ugly_a shape_n of_o our_o sin_n against_o the_o bitter_a taste_n of_o our_o affliction_n let_v we_o consider_v the_o ugliness_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o we_o shall_v perceive_v that_o they_o be_v not_o excessive_a neither_o that_o he_o be_v too_o severe_a and_o rigorous_a in_o punish_v us._n and_o he_o know_v it_o not_o he_o cry_v out_o again_o against_o this_o gross_a sottishness_n wherewith_o the_o jew_n be_v so_o possess_v that_o they_o can_v no_o way_n feel_v their_o misery_n neither_o can_v they_o so_o much_o as_o lift_v up_o their_o eye_n to_o heaven_n to_o acknowledge_v god_n hand_n which_o smite_v they_o but_o he_o put_v it_o not_o upon_o his_o heart_n this_o phrase_n of_o speech_n signify_v to_o consider_v of_o a_o thing_n serious_o and_o diligent_o for_o if_o we_o think_v upon_o it_o and_o have_v it_o well_o grave_v in_o our_o heart_n that_o god_n be_v the_o judge_n and_o that_o he_o justly_o chastise_v we_o we_o shall_v forthwith_o repent_v the_o world_n at_o this_o day_n be_v press_v under_o many_o calamity_n there_o be_v almost_o no_o corner_n thereof_o exempt_a from_o his_o wrath_n heart_n god_n judgement_n abound_v in_o every_o place_n but_o no_o man_n lay_v â—hen_o to_o heart_n yet_o who_o know_v it_o or_o put_v it_o upon_o his_o heart_n do_v not_o all_o band_n themselves_o furious_o against_o he_o with_o a_o untamed_a rebellion_n it_o be_v no_o marvel_n then_o if_o he_o lie_v on_o load_n and_o pour_v out_o his_o wrath_n on_o every_o side_n upon_o the_o mad_a world_n which_o desperate_o oppose_v itself_o against_o he_o the_o xliii_o chapter_n verse_n 1._o but_o distinguish_v not_o their_o sermon_n into_o certain_a chapter_n so_o as_o we_o shall_v be_v able_a to_o define_v of_o every_o day_n sermon_n yet_o i_o think_v this_o doctrine_n be_v join_v to_o the_o former_a so_o as_o have_v show_v himself_o very_o angry_a against_o the_o jew_n even_o to_o threaten_v their_o destruction_n he_o mean_v now_o to_o sweeten_v this_o sharpness_n for_o the_o lord_n have_v evermore_o respect_n to_o the_o faithful_a neither_o be_v impiety_n at_o any_o time_n so_o overspread_v but_o he_o reserve_v a_o small_a remnant_n which_o he_o keep_v from_o fall_v into_o such_o extremity_n because_o he_o care_v for_o their_o safety_n and_o therefore_o the_o letter_n vaughan_n shall_v be_v resolve_v into_o a_o particle_n adversative_a thus_o yet_o will_v the_o lord_n leave_v some_o consolation_n to_o the_o faithful_a which_o shall_v succeed_v this_o place_n therefore_o be_v to_o be_v well_o observe_v former_a how_o this_o verse_n depend_v upon_o the_o former_a for_o albeit_o the_o whole_a world_n shall_v conspire_v to_o root_v we_o out_o and_o that_o god_n wrath_n shall_v burn_v on_o every_o side_n about_o we_o and_o that_o we_o be_v bring_v to_o death_n door_n yet_o if_o there_o do_v but_o two_o or_o three_o of_o the_o faithful_a remain_n we_o ought_v not_o to_o despair_v see_v the_o lord_n speak_v thus_o unto_o they_o fear_v not_o the_o word_n now_o which_o the_o prophet_n here_o use_v have_v great_a weight_n for_o it_o signify_v that_o the_o calamity_n be_v present_a or_o very_o near_o at_o hand_n in_o a_o word_n that_o it_o be_v the_o time_n wherein_o all_o thing_n shall_v seem_v desperate_a and_o forlorn_a yet_o even_o then_o god_n will_v neither_o cease_v to_o comfort_v his_o elect_a nor_o sweet_o to_o assuage_v their_o sorrow_n that_o so_o in_o the_o great_a of_o their_o extremity_n they_o may_v have_v a_o firm_a and_o a_o invincible_a faith_n hereunto_o appertain_v these_o title_n of_o creator_n and_o former_a without_o which_o these_o prophecy_n will_v have_v be_v utterlie_o uneffectual_a now_o we_o may_v gather_v from_o other_o place_n that_o the_o lord_n speak_v not_o here_o of_o that_o general_a creation_n regeneration_n this_o creation_n must_v be_v apply_v to_o regeneration_n which_o be_v common_a to_o we_o with_o other_o man_n when_o we_o be_v bear_v dead_a in_o trespass_n and_o sin_n but_o of_o our_o regeneration_n into_o the_o hope_n of_o eternal_a life_n in_o which_o respect_n we_o be_v also_o call_v new_a creature_n and_o in_o this_o sense_n s._n paul_n say_v that_o we_o be_v god_n workmanship_n ephes_n 2.10_o as_o we_o have_v sufficient_o show_v heretofore_o in_o this_o sense_n he_o also_o call_v himself_o the_o former_a as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v i_o have_v not_o form_v my_o church_n in_o which_o my_o glory_n clear_o shine_v to_o bring_v so_o excellent_a a_o work_n to_o nought_o whence_o we_o may_v observe_v of_o the_o church_n have_v nothing_o in_o herself_o to_o boast_v that_o resist_v he_o we_o shall_v easy_o perceive_v that_o all_o thing_n come_v to_o pass_v as_o isaiah_n foretell_v what_o be_v his_o apostle_n that_o they_o subdue_v so_o many_o king_n and_o nation_n by_o the_o sword_n of_o the_o spirit_n may_v they_o not_o well_o be_v compare_v to_o little_a sprig_n thus_o the_o prophet_n show_v then_o by_o what_o mean_v christ_n kingdom_n shall_v be_v erect_v and_o establish_v that_o we_o shall_v not_o judge_v thereof_o as_o of_o a_o worldly_a kingdom_n 18.36_o joh._n 18.36_o the_o deformity_n whereof_o he_o speak_v in_o the_o next_o place_n be_v not_o only_o to_o be_v refer_v to_o christ_n person_n kingdom_n this_o deformity_n be_v not_o only_o to_o be_v refer_v to_o christ_n person_n but_o to_o his_o whole_a kingdom_n which_o be_v contemptible_a and_o despise_v of_o the_o world_n be_v at_o last_o adjudge_v to_o a_o shameful_a and_o curse_a death_n but_o also_o to_o his_o whole_a kingdom_n which_o have_v no_o form_n beauty_n nor_o glory_n at_o all_o in_o the_o eye_n of_o man_n in_o a_o word_n no_o appearance_n at_o all_o to_o procure_v any_o great_a admiration_n in_o the_o eye_n of_o worldling_n for_o albeit_o christ_n rise_v again_o yet_o the_o jew_n always_o esteem_v he_o a_o man_n crucify_v and_o full_a of_o reproach_n so_o as_o they_o proud_o disdain_v he_o verse_n 3._o he_o be_v despise_v and_o reject_v of_o man_n he_o be_v a_o man_n full_a of_o sorrow_n and_o have_v experience_n of_o infirmity_n we_o hide_v as_o it_o be_v our_o face_n from_o he_o he_o be_v despise_v and_o we_o esteem_v he_o not_o former_a the_o doctrine_n of_o this_o verse_n be_v all_o one_o with_o the_o former_a this_o present_a verse_n tend_v to_o the_o same_o purpose_n with_o the_o former_a namely_o that_o man_n shall_v reject_v christ_n because_o nothing_o be_v to_o be_v see_v in_o he_o but_o sorrow_n and_o infirmity_n the_o jew_n need_v to_o have_v this_o often_o repeat_v unto_o they_o that_o they_o may_v not_o conceive_v a_o false_a opinion_n of_o christ_n nor_o of_o his_o kingdom_n for_o he_o that_o will_v right_o see_v his_o glory_n resurrection_n he_o that_o will_z l_o take_v a_o right_a view_n of_o christ_n glory_n must_v pass_v from_o his_o death_n to_o his_o resurrection_n must_v pass_v from_o his_o death_n to_o his_o resurrection_n many_o be_v offend_v at_o his_o death_n as_o if_o he_o have_v be_v overcome_v and_o overwhelm_v of_o it_o but_o they_o must_v pass_v forward_o to_o that_o divine_a power_n and_o majesty_n which_o shine_v in_o his_o resurrection_n rom._n 1.4_o yet_o if_o any_o shall_v begin_v at_o his_o resurrection_n he_o shall_v not_o follow_v the_o order_n here_o prescribe_v by_o the_o prophet_n neither_o shall_v he_o comprehend_v the_o mighty_a power_n of_o the_o lord_n we_o almost_o hide_v our_o face_n from_o he_o it_o be_v not_o without_o cause_n that_o he_o use_v this_o word_n we_o for_o thereby_o he_o show_v that_o thus_o all_o man_n shall_v judge_v of_o he_o neither_o shall_v any_o man_n be_v able_a ever_o to_o conceive_v otherwise_o unless_o the_o lord_n correct_v and_o reform_v his_o judgement_n by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o howsoever_o he_o seem_v here_o to_o tax_v the_o jew_n principal_o who_o shall_v disdainful_o reject_v the_o son_n of_o god_n promise_v and_o offer_v yea_o and_o put_v himself_o in_o the_o number_n as_o be_v a_o member_n of_o that_o body_n yet_o let_v we_o learn_v from_o this_o place_n notwithstanding_o that_o the_o whole_a world_n be_v here_o tax_v and_o condemn_v of_o ingratitude_n for_o contemn_v of_o christ_n because_o
