of_o man_n 3._o the_o providence_n of_o god_n for_o in_o that_o out_o of_o the_o consideration_n of_o the_o heaven_n the_o moon_n and_o star_n he_o raise_v the_o question_n what_o be_v man_n we_o may_v gather_v that_o he_o intimate_v man_n vileness_n in_o respect_n of_o their_o excellency_n and_o in_o that_o he_o make_v the_o question_n with_o mention_n of_o god_n providence_n we_o may_v gather_v that_o he_o aim_v at_o man_n unworthiness_n in_o reference_n to_o god_n goodness_n and_o mercy_n and_o in_o that_o he_o make_v mention_n of_o god_n mindfulness_n we_o may_v plain_o see_v he_o set_v forth_o god_n good_a providence_n to_o man_n notwithstanding_o his_o vileness_n in_o himself_o and_o his_o unworthiness_n towards_o god_n to_o begin_v with_o the_o first_o man_n vileness_n or_o baseness_n this_o will_v be_v discover_v in_o a_o twofold_a consideration_n namely_o of_o what_o we_o be_v or_o belong_v unto_o we_o in_o our_o corporal_a and_o what_o in_o our_o temporal_a state_n and_o condition_n each_o of_o they_o again_o have_v a_o double_a reference_n or_o respect_n first_o for_o our_o corporal_a state_n and_o condition_n our_o vileness_n therein_o will_v appear_v in_o respect_n both_o of_o our_o beginning_n and_o of_o our_o end_n first_o for_o our_o beginning_n if_o i_o shall_v speak_v of_o our_o next_o and_o near_a natural_a beginning_n i_o mean_v our_o conception_n and_o birth_n i_o fear_v i_o shall_v then_o make_v it_o too_o plain_a and_o more_o offend_v your_o ear_n then_o edify_v your_o soul_n i_o shall_v scarce_o i_o doubt_v find_v word_n modest_a and_o civil_a enough_o to_o bring_v i_o off_o with_o good_a manner_n it_o be_v a_o subject_n so_o unseemly_a for_o discourse_n that_o it_o may_v be_v enough_o if_o not_o too_o much_o for_o my_o present_a purpose_n only_o to_o have_v name_v it_o pass_o therefore_o that_o let_v we_o look_v i_o pray_v you_o on_o our_o first_o and_o primary_n beginning_n namely_o in_o adam_n or_o rather_o on_o adam_n beginning_n for_o though_o he_o be_v the_o beginning_n of_o all_o we_o yet_o he_o be_v not_o the_o beginning_n of_o himself_o no_o he_o have_v his_o beginning_n as_o well_o as_o other_o man_n and_o whence_o be_v it_o you_o may_v see_v gen._n 2.7_o the_o lord_n god_n form_v man_n of_o the_o dust_n of_o the_o ground_n loe_o then_o here_o be_v our_o noble_a parentage_n our_o high_a descent_n of_o dignity_n our_o honourable_a house_n yea_o this_o be_v the_o very_a foundation_n of_o the_o house_n we_o dwell_v in_o house_n of_o clay_n who_o foundation_n be_v in_o the_o dust_n job_n 4.19_o and_o what_o can_v be_v more_o vile_a and_o contemptible_a than_o the_o dust_n of_o the_o earth_n which_o be_v tread_v under_o foot_n of_o all_o creature_n which_o be_v scatter_v abroad_o of_o every_o blast_n of_o wind_n which_o bear_v no_o herb_n nor_o fruit_n which_o serve_v for_o no_o use_n to_o any_o creature_n unless_o for_o meat_n to_o the_o most_o curse_a creature_n that_o be_v the_o man_n be_v the_o seed_n or_o generation_n of_o a_o serpent_n for_o so_o they_o write_v exit_fw-la spina_fw-la humana_fw-la corrupta_fw-la out_o of_o the_o corrupt_a carcase_n of_o a_o man_n be_v engender_v a_o serpent_n and_o aug._n the_o morib_n manic_a ca._n 17_o say_v scarabaeus_n ex_fw-la fimo_fw-la aper_fw-la ex_fw-la above_o anguis_fw-la vel_fw-la scorpio_fw-la ex_fw-la homine_fw-la
