and_o they_o follow_v i_o and_o i_o give_v they_o the_o eternal_a life_n and_o none_o shall_v pluck_v they_o out_o of_o my_o hand_n the_o scholar_n 38._o how_o come_v this_o enter_v of_o the_o will_n divine_a rest_n for_o god_n anger_n be_v manifest_v in_o it_o now_o when_o the_o body_n part_v from_o this_o soul_n eternal_a grief_n and_o despair_n begin_v for_o it_o perceive_v and_o find_v that_o it_o be_v become_v a_o mere_a tormentive_a abomination_n and_o be_v ashamed_a to_o strive_v to_o enter_v with_o its_o false_a will_n into_o god_n nay_o it_o can_v for_o it_o be_v captivate_v in_o the_o wrath_n and_o be_v itself_o mere_a wrath_n and_o have_v shut_v itself_o up_o therewith_o by_o its_o evil_a false_a desire_n which_o it_o have_v raise_v up_o in_o itself_o and_o since_o the_o light_n of_o god_n shine_v not_o in_o it_o and_o that_o his_o love_n touch_v it_o not_o it_o be_v a_o great_a darkness_n and_o a_o ache_a anguish_a source_n of_o fire_n and_o carry_v hell_n in_o itself_o and_o can_v see_v the_o light_n of_o god_n thus_o it_o dwell_v in_o itself_o in_o hell_n and_o need_v no_o enter_v into_o it_o for_o wherein_o soever_o it_o be_v it_o be_v in_o hell_n and_o the_o scholar_n 39_o how_o come_v it_o then_o that_o a_o holy_a soul_n in_o this_o life_n time_o do_v not_o perfect_o perceive_v that_o light_n and_o great_a joy_n nor_o a_o wicked_a soul_n feel_v hell_n when_o both_o of_o they_o be_v in_o man_n and_o one_o of_o they_o of_o necessity_n work_v in_o he_o the_o master_n the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n in_o the_o saint_n be_v work_v and_o sensible_a in_o their_o faith_n they_o feel_v the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o their_o faith_n by_o which_o the_o will_n yield_v itself_o up_o into_o god_n but_o the_o natural_a life_n be_v compass_v with_o flesh_n and_o blood_n and_o in_o the_o contrariety_n of_o god_n anger_n be_v compass_v with_o the_o vain_a lust_n of_o this_o world_n which_o continual_o do_v thorough_o penetrate_v the_o outward_a mortal_a life_n where_o the_o world_n on_o one_o side_n the_o devil_n on_o the_o other_o and_o on_o a_o three_o the_o curse_n of_o the_o anger_n of_o god_n in_o flesh_n and_o blood_n thorough_o penetrate_v and_o lift_v the_o life_n whereby_o the_o soul_n be_v often_o in_o anguish_n when_o hell_n thus_o assault_v it_o and_o will_v manifest_v itself_o in_o the_o soul_n but_o the_o soul_n sink_v down_o into_o the_o hope_n of_o divine_a grace_n and_o stand_v like_o a_o fair_a rose_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o thorn_n till_o the_o kingdom_n of_o this_o world_n fall_v off_o from_o it_o in_o the_o death_n of_o the_o body_n and_o then_o the_o soul_n become_v first_o true_o manifest_a in_o the_o love_n of_o god_n have_v nothing_o more_o to_o hinder_v it_o but_o the_o soul_n during_o the_o time_n of_o this_o life_n must_v walk_v with_o christ_n in_o this_o world_n and_o then_o christ_n deliver_v it_o out_o of_o its_o own_o hell_n by_o thorough_o penetrate_v it_o with_o his_o love_n and_o stand_v by_o it_o in_o hell_n and_o change_v its_o hell_n into_o heaven_n but_o that_o thou_o say_v why_o do_v not_o the_o wicked_a feel_v hell_n in_o the_o time_n of_o this_o life_n i_o answer_v he_o feel_v it_o indeed_o in_o his_o false_a or_o wicked_a conscience_n but_o he_o understand_v it_o not_o for_o he_o have_v earthly_a vanity_n yet_o with_o which_o he_o be_v enamour_v and_o in_o which_o he_o take_v delight_n and_o pleasure_n also_o the_o outward_a life_n have_v yet_o the_o light_n of_o the_o outward_a nature_n and_o so_o the_o pain_n can_v be_v reveal_v but_o when_o the_o body_n die_v the_o soul_n can_v enjoy_v such_o temporal_a pleasure_n any_o long_o and_o the_o light_n of_o this_o outward_a world_n be_v also_o extinguish_v to_o it_o and_o then_o it_o stand_v in_o eternal_a hunger_n and_o thirst_n after_o such_o vanity_n as_o it_o be_v in_o love_n withal_o here_o in_o this_o â—â—e_z yet_o it_o can_v reach_v nothing_o but_o that_o false_a will_n which_o it_o *_o imprint_v in_o impress_v itself_o which_o it_o have_v too_o much_o of_o in_o this_o life_n and_o yet_o be_v not_o content_v but_o than_o it_o have_v as_o little_a of_o it_o which_o make_v it_o to_o be_v in_o everlasting_a hunger_n and_o thirst_n after_o vanity_n wickedness_n and_o vile_a lewdness_n it_o will_v fain_o do_v more_o evil_a still_o but_o it_o have_v not_o wherein_o or_o wherewith_o to_o perform_v it_o and_o therefore_o it_o perform_v it_o onein_o itself_o and_o this_o hellish_a hunger_n and_o thirst_n can_v be_v full_o manifest_v in_o it_o till_o the_o body_n die_v wherewith_o the_o its_o prayer_n and_o disturb_v the_o good_a thought_n and_o desire_v which_o press_v forward_o towards_o god_n and_o draw_v they_o back_o again_o to_o earthly_a thing_n that_o they_o may_v have_v no_o access_n to_o god_n the_o soul_n sigh_v the_o will_n of_o the_o soul_n sigh_v after_o god_n but_o the_o thought_n arise_v in_o the_o mind_n that_o shall_v penetrate_v into_o god_n be_v destroy_v scatter_a and_o distract_a so_o that_o they_o can_v not_o reach_v the_o power_n of_o god_n the_o poor_a soul_n be_v more_o affright_v at_o this_o that_o it_o can_v not_o bring_v its_o desire_n into_o god_n and_o begin_v to_o pray_v more_o earnest_o but_o the_o the_o devil_n with_o his_o desire_n take_v hold_v of_o the_o mercuriall-kindled-fiery_a wheel_n of_o life_n and_o awaken_v the_o evil_a property_n so_o that_o evil_a or_o false_a inclination_n arise_v and_o go_v into_o that_o thing_n wherein_o they_o have_v take_v pleasure_n and_o delight_v before_o the_o poor_a soul_n will_v very_o fain_o go_v forward_o to_o god_n with_o its_o will_n and_o therefore_o use_v all_o its_o endeavour_n but_o all_o its_o thought_n flee_v away_o from_o god_n into_o earthly_a thing_n and_o will_v not_o go_v to_o god_n the_o soul_n sigh_v and_o bewail_v itself_o to_o god_n but_o it_o be_v as_o if_o it_o be_v quite_o &_o clean_o forsake_v and_o cast_v out_o from_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n it_o can_v not_o get_v so_o much_o as_o one_o look_n of_o grace_n but_o be_v in_o mere_a anguish_n and_o also_o in_o great_a fear_n and_o terror_n and_o suppose_v every_o moment_n that_o the_o wrath_n and_o severe_a judgement_n of_o god_n will_v be_v manifest_v in_o it_o and_o that_o the_o devil_n will_v take_v hold_n of_o it_o and_o have_v it_o and_o so_o fall_v into_o such_o great_a heaviness_n and_o sorrow_n that_o it_o become_v weary_a of_o all_o the_o joy_n and_o pleasure_v it_o take_v in_o temporal_a thing_n though_o it_o be_v never_o so_o delight_v with_o they_o before_o the_o earthly_a natural_a will_n desire_v those_o thing_n still_o but_o the_o soul_n will_v willing_o leave_v they_o altogether_o and_o desire_v to_o die_v to_o all_o temporal_a lust_n and_o joy_n and_o long_v only_o after_o its_o first_o native_a country_n from_o whence_o it_o come_v original_o but_o it_o find_v itself_o to_o be_v far_o from_o thence_o also_o in_o great_a distress_n and_o want_v and_o know_v not_o what_o to_o do_v yet_o resolve_v to_o enter_v into_o itself_o and_o still_o stir_v itself_o up_o to_o pray_v more_o earnest_o the_o devil_n opposition_n but_o the_o devil_n oppose_v it_o and_o
