their_o seem_a faith_n and_o holiness_n call_v that_o presumption_n and_o this_o hypocrisy_n hence_o return_v to_o a_o kind_n of_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n again_o to_o fear_v their_o faith_n be_v shake_v by_o prevail_a unbelief_n their_o peace_n be_v break_v and_o all_o gospel_n ordinance_n render_v ineffectual_a as_o to_o their_o true_a end_n of_o profit_n edification_n and_o comfort_n back-drivings_a by_o cross_a wind_n and_o storm_n so_o be_v it_o with_o a_o soul_n under_o the_o conduct_n of_o grace_n its_o fix_a design_n be_v to_o live_v unto_o god_n but_o in_o its_o course_n it_o meet_v with_o storm_n and_o cross_a wind_n of_o temptation_n and_o various_a artifices_fw-la of_o sin._n these_o disturb_v he_o disorder_n he_o drive_v he_o backward_o sometime_o as_o if_o it_o will_v take_v a_o contrary_a course_n and_o return_v unto_o the_o coast_n of_o sin_n from_o whence_o it_o set_v out_o but_o where_o grace_n have_v the_o rule_n and_o conduct_v it_o will_v weather_v all_o these_o opposition_n and_o obstruction_n it_o will_v restore_v the_o soul_n bring_v it_o again_o into_o order_n recover_v it_o from_o the_o confusion_n and_o evil_a frames_n that_o it_o be_v draw_v into_o it_o will_v give_v a_o fresh_a predominancy_n unto_o its_o prevalent_a design_n of_o live_v unto_o god_n in_o all_o thing_n it_o will_v do_v this_o constant_o as_o often_o as_o the_o soul_n meet_v with_o such_o ruffle_n from_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n when_o there_o be_v a_o radical_a firmitude_n and_o strength_n in_o a_o cause_n or_o design_n it_o will_v work_v itself_o out_o through_o all_o change_n and_o variation_n but_o when_o the_o strength_n of_o any_o cause_n be_v but_o occasion_n the_o first_o opposition_n and_o disorder_n will_v ruin_v we_o so_o if_o man_n purpose_n of_o live_v unto_o god_n be_v only_o occasional_a from_o present_a conviction_n the_o first_o vigorous_a opposition_n or_o temptation_n will_v disorder_v it_o and_o overthrow_v it_o but_o where_o this_o be_v the_o radical_a design_n of_o the_o soul_n from_o the_o power_n of_o grace_n it_o will_v break_v through_o all_o such_o opposition_n and_o recover_v its_o prevalency_n in_o the_o mind_n and_o affection_n hereby_o do_v it_o evidence_n its_o rule_n and_o that_o the_o whole_a interest_n of_o sin_n in_o the_o soul_n be_v by_o rebellion_n and_o not_o by_o virtue_n of_o dominion_n 2._o it_o do_v so_o by_o keep_v up_o a_o constant_a exercise_n of_o grace_n in_o all_o religious_a duty_n or_o at_o least_o a_o sincere_a endeavour_n that_o so_o it_o may_v be_v where_o sin_n have_v the_o dominion_n it_o can_v allow_v the_o soul_n to_o perform_v religious_a duty_n yea_o in_o some_o case_n to_o abound_v in_o they_o but_o it_o will_v take_v care_n that_o divine_a grace_n be_v not_o exercise_v in_o they_o whatever_o there_o may_v be_v of_o delight_n in_o duty_n or_o other_o motion_n of_o affection_n which_o light_n and_o gift_n and_o affliction_n and_o superstition_n will_v occasion_v there_o be_v no_o exercise_n of_o divine_a faith_n and_o love_n in_o they_o this_o belong_v essential_o and_o inseparable_o unto_o the_o rule_n of_o grace_n wherever_o that_o bear_v sway_v christ_n crucify_v because_o of_o the_o inconsistency_n of_o such_o thought_n with_o a_o indulgence_n unto_o any_o lust_n it_o be_v to_o be_v fear_v that_o sin_n be_v in_o the_o throne_n if_o it_o be_v thus_o with_o any_o if_o they_o have_v not_o yet_o make_v use_n of_o this_o way_n and_o mean_n for_o the_o mortification_n of_o sin_n or_o if_o be_v convince_v of_o it_o they_o have_v be_v for_o any_o season_n drive_v or_o withhold_v from_o the_o exercise_n of_o faith_n herein_o i_o have_v nothing_o to_o offer_v to_o free_v they_o from_o this_o evidence_n of_o the_o reign_n of_o sin_n but_o only_o that_o they_o will_v speedy_o and_o careful_o address_v themselves_o unto_o their_o duty_n herein_o and_o if_o they_o prevail_v on_o themselves_o unto_o it_o it_o will_v bring_v in_o its_o own_o evidence_n of_o their_o freedom_n some_z it_o may_v be_v will_v say_v that_o indeed_o they_o be_v unskilful_a in_o this_o word_n of_o righteousness_n as_o some_o be_v heb._n v._n 13._o they_o know_v not_o how_o to_o make_v use_n of_o christ_n crucify_v unto_o this_o end_n nor_o how_o to_o set_v themselves_o about_o it_o other_o way_n of_o mortification_n they_o can_v understand_v the_o discipline_n and_o penance_n assign_v by_o the_o papist_n unto_o this_o end_n be_v sensible_a so_o be_v our_o own_o vow_n and_o resolution_n with_o other_o duty_n that_o be_v prescribe_v but_o as_o for_o this_o way_n of_o derive_v virtue_n from_o the_o death_n of_o christ_n unto_o the_o death_n of_o sin_n they_o can_v understand_v nothing_o of_o it_o i_o easy_o believe_v that_o some_o may_v say_v so_o yea_o ought_v to_o say_v so_o if_o they_o will_v speak_v their_o mind_n for_o the_o spiritual_a wisdom_n of_o faith_n be_v require_v hereunto_o but_o all_o man_n have_v not_o faith._n on_o the_o loss_n of_o this_o wisdom_n the_o papist_n have_v invent_v another_o way_n to_o supply_v the_o whole_a exercise_n of_o faith_n herein_o they_o will_v make_v crucifix_n image_n of_o christ_n crucify_v than_o they_o will_v adore_v embrace_v mourn_v over_o and_o expect_v great_a verve_n from_o they_o without_o these_o image_n they_o know_v no_o way_n of_o address_v unto_o christ_n for_o the_o communication_n of_o any_o virtue_n from_o his_o death_n or_o life_n other_o may_v be_v at_o the_o same_o loss_n but_o they_o may_v do_v well_o to_o consider_v the_o cause_n of_o it_o for_o 1._o be_v it_o not_o from_o ignorance_n of_o the_o mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o of_o the_o communication_n of_o supply_n of_o spiritual_a thing_n from_o christ_n thereby_o of_o the_o efficacy_n of_o his_o life_n and_o death_n unto_o our_o sanctification_n and_o mortification_n of_o sin_n or_o 2._o be_v it_o not_o because_o indeed_o they_o have_v never_o be_v thorough_o distress_v in_o their_o mind_n and_o conscience_n by_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n and_o so_o have_v never_o in_o good_a earnest_n look_v for_o relief_n light_a general_a conviction_n either_o of_o the_o gild_n or_o power_n of_o sin_n will_v drive_v none_o to_o christ._n when_o their_o conscience_n be_v reduce_v unto_o real_a straits_n and_o they_o know_v not_o what_o to_o do_v they_o will_v learn_v better_o how_o to_o look_v unto_o he_o who_o they_o have_v pierce_v their_o condition_n whoever_o they_o be_v be_v dangerous_a who_o find_v not_o a_o necessity_n every_o day_n of_o apply_v themselves_o by_o faith_n unto_o christ_n for_o help_n and_o succour_v or_o 3._o be_v it_o not_o because_o they_o have_v other_o relief_n to_o betake_v themselves_o unto_o such_o be_v there_o own_o promise_n and_o resolution_n which_o for_o the_o most_o part_n
any_o thing_n of_o a_o future_a reward_n hereafter_o something_o may_v be_v speak_v to_o alleviate_v their_o present_a misery_n but_o the_o wage_n of_o sin_n be_v death_n eternal_a death_n under_o the_o wrath_n of_o the_o great_a god_n be_v all_o they_o be_v to_o look_v for_o the_o end_n of_o the_o dominion_n of_o sin_n be_v to_o give_v they_o up_o unto_o the_o curse_n of_o the_o law_n and_o power_n of_o the_o devil_n for_o evermore_o four_o it_o keep_v man_n off_o from_o the_o participation_n of_o all_o real_a good_a here_o and_o hereafter_o what_o man_n under_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n do_v enjoy_v will_v quick_o appear_v to_o be_v as_o a_o thing_n of_o nought_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n they_o have_v not_o the_o least_o taste_n of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n which_o alone_o take_v out_o the_o poison_n of_o their_o enjoyment_n they_o have_v not_o the_o least_o view_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o christ_n without_o which_o they_o live_v in_o perpetual_a darkness_n like_o those_o who_o never_o behold_v the_o light_n nor_o sun._n they_o have_v no_o experience_n of_o the_o sweetness_n and_o excellency_n of_o the_o gracious_a influence_n of_o life_n and_o strength_n and_o comfort_n from_o the_o holy_a ghost_n nor_o of_o that_o satisfaction_n and_o reward_n which_o be_v in_o holy_a obedience_n nor_o shall_v ever_o come_v to_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o god._n all_o these_o thing_n and_o sundry_a other_o of_o the_o like_a sort_n may_v be_v insist_v on_o and_o enlarge_v to_o manifest_v the_o greatness_n of_o the_o mercy_n and_o privilege_n which_o be_v in_o a_o freedom_n from_o the_o dominion_n of_o sin_n as_o it_o be_v here_o propose_v by_o the_o apostle_n but_o the_o principal_a design_n i_o intend_v be_v accomplish_v and_o i_o do_v but_o touch_v on_o these_o thing_n i_o whilst_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world._n pretence_n of_o perfection_n here_o be_v contrary_a to_o the_o scripture_n contrary_a to_o the_o universal_a experience_n of_o all_o believer_n and_o contrary_a to_o the_o sense_n and_o conscience_n of_o they_o by_o who_o they_o be_v plead_v as_o they_o make_v it_o evident_a every_o day_n we_o pray_v against_o it_o strive_v against_o it_o groan_n for_o deliverance_n from_o it_o and_o that_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o christ_n heal_v our_o nature_n not_o without_o success_n howbeit_o this_o success_n extend_v not_o unto_o its_o absolute_a abolition_n whilst_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world._n it_o will_v abide_v in_o we_o until_o the_o union_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o body_n wherein_o it_o have_v incorporate_v itself_o be_v dissolve_v this_o be_v our_o lot_n and_o portion_n this_o be_v the_o consequent_a of_o our_o apostasy_n from_o god_n and_o the_o depravation_n of_o our_o nature_n thereby_o you_o will_v say_v then_o whereto_o serve_v the_o gospel_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n in_o this_o case_n if_o it_o be_v not_o able_a to_o give_v we_o deliverance_n herein_o i_o answer_v it_o do_v give_v we_o a_o fourfold_a relief_n which_o amount_v virtual_o to_o a_o constant_a deliverance_n though_o sin_n will_v abide_v in_o we_o whilst_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world._n 1._o it_o be_v so_o order_v that_o the_o continuance_n of_o sin_n in_o we_o shall_v be_v the_o ground_n reason_n and_o occasion_n of_o the_o exercise_n of_o all_o grace_n and_o put_v a_o lustre_n on_o our_o obedience_n some_o excellent_a grace_n as_o repentance_n and_o mortification_n can_v have_v no_o exercise_n if_o it_o be_v otherwise_o and_o whilst_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world_n there_o be_v a_o beauty_n in_o they_o that_o be_v a_o overbalance_n for_o the_o evil_a of_o the_o remainder_n of_o sin_n and_o the_o difficulty_n which_o be_v hereby_o put_v on_o our_o obedience_n call_v continual_o for_o the_o exercise_n and_o improvement_n of_o all_o grace_n render_v it_o the_o more_o valuable_a herein_o lie_v the_o spring_n of_o humility_n and_o self-resignation_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god._n this_o make_v we_o love_n and_o long_a for_o the_o enjoyment_n of_o christ_n put_v a_o excellency_n on_o his_o mediation_n whence_o the_o apostle_n on_o the_o consideration_n of_o it_o fall_v into_o that_o ejaculation_n i_o thank_v god_n through_o jesus_n christ_n my_o lord_n rom._n seven_o 25._o this_o sweeten_v unto_o we_o our_o future_a rest_n and_o reward_n wherefore_o the_o continuance_n of_o we_o in_o this_o state_n and_o condition_n in_o this_o world_n a_o state_n of_o spiritual_a warfare_n be_v best_a for_o we_o and_o high_o suit_v unto_o divine_a wisdom_n consider_v the_o office_n and_o care_n of_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n for_o our_o relief_n let_v we_o not_o complain_v or_o repine_v or_o faint_a but_o go_v on_o with_o christian_a fortitude_n unto_o the_o end_n and_o we_o shall_v have_v in_o they_o than_o be_v useful_a and_o needful_a for_o the_o exercise_n of_o their_o grace_n it_o shall_v never_o have_v its_o will_n upon_o they_o nor_o dominion_n over_o they_o as_o we_o have_v before_o declare_v 3._o there_o be_v mercy_n administer_v in_o and_o by_o the_o gospel_n for_o the_o pardon_n of_o all_o that_o be_v evil_a in_o itself_o or_o in_o any_o of_o its_o effect_n there_o be_v no_o condemnation_n unto_o they_o that_o be_v in_o christ_n jesus_n pardon_v mercy_n according_a to_o the_o tenor_n of_o the_o covenant_n do_v always_o disarm_v this_o sin_n in_o believer_n of_o its_o condemn_a power_n so_o that_o notwithstanding_o the_o utmost_a endeavour_n of_o it_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n they_o have_v peace_n with_o god._n 4._o there_o be_v a_o season_n when_o by_o bless_a deliverance_n from_o it_o second_o there_o be_v a_o double_a conflict_n with_o and_o against_o sin._n the_o one_o be_v in_o those_o that_o be_v unregenerate_a consist_v in_o the_o rebellion_n of_o light_n and_o conscience_n against_o the_o rule_n of_o sin_n in_o many_o particular_a instance_n for_o although_o sin_n be_v enthrone_v in_o the_o will_n and_o affection_n yet_o the_o knowledge_n of_o good_a and_o evil_n in_o the_o mind_n excite_v by_o the_o hope_n and_o fear_n of_o thing_n eternal_a will_v make_v head_n against_o it_o as_o unto_o the_o performance_n of_o sundry_a duty_n and_o abstinence_n from_o sin._n this_o conflict_n may_v be_v where_o sin_n be_v in_o the_o throne_n and_o may_v deceive_v themselves_o suppose_v it_o may_v be_v from_o the_o rule_n of_o grace_n when_o it_o be_v only_o from_o the_o rebellion_n of_o light_n and_o the_o charge_n of_o a_o conscience_n yet_o unsear_v but_o there_o be_v a_o conflict_n with_o sin_n where_o grace_n have_v the_o rule_n and_o be_v enthrone_v for_o although_o grace_n have_v the_o sovereignty_n in_o the_o mind_n and_o heart_n yet_o the_o remainder_n of_o sin_n especial_o in_o the_o corrupt_a affection_n will_v be_v continual_o rebel_a against_o it_o now_o this_o we_o say_v be_v the_o interest_n of_o all_o namely_o to_o inquire_v of_o what_o sort_n and_o kind_n that_o conflict_n with_o sin_n be_v which_o be_v in_o they_o if_o it_o be_v of_o the_o first_o sort_n they_o may_v yet_o be_v under_o the_o dominion_n of_o sin_n if_o of_o the_o latter_a they_o be_v free_v from_o it_o wherefore_o whilst_o the_o mind_n be_v dubious_a in_o this_o case_n and_o undetermined_a many_o evil_a consequence_n it_o will_v be_v perplex_v withal_o i_o shall_v name_v some_o of_o they_o 1._o such_o a_o soul_n can_v have_v no_o solid_a peace_n because_o it_o have_v not_o satisfaction_n what_o state_n it_o do_v belong_v unto_o 2._o it_o can_v receive_v refreshment_n by_o gospel_n consolation_n in_o any_o condition_n for_o its_o just_a fear_n of_o the_o dominion_n of_o sin_n will_v defeat_v they_o all_o 3._o it_o will_v be_v dead_a and_o formal_a in_o all_o its_o
dominion_n and_o where_o they_o be_v in_o conjunction_n they_o must_v have_v a_o mighty_a prevalency_n and_o such_o as_o will_v render_v the_o contest_v hazardous_a there_o be_v few_o believer_n but_o have_v find_v it_o so_o at_o least_o in_o their_o own_o apprehension_n they_o have_v be_v ready_a to_o say_v at_o one_o time_n or_o another_o we_o shall_v one_o day_n fall_v by_o the_o hand_n of_o this_o enemy_n and_o have_v be_v force_v to_o cry_v out_o unto_o jesus_n christ_n for_o help_n and_o succour_v with_o no_o less_o vehemency_n than_o the_o disciple_n do_v at_o sea_n when_o the_o ship_n be_v cover_v with_o wave_n lord_n save_v we_o we_o perish_v matth._n viij_o 24_o 25._o and_o so_o they_o will_v do_v do_v he_o not_o come_v in_o seasonable_o to_o their_o succour_n heb._n ij_o 18._o and_o herein_o the_o soul_n have_v frequent_o no_o less_o experience_n of_o the_o power_n of_o christ_n in_o his_o grace_n than_o the_o disciple_n on_o their_o outcry_n have_v of_o his_o sovereign_a authority_n when_o he_o rebuke_v the_o wind_n and_o the_o sea_n and_o there_o be_v a_o great_a calm_a this_o dominion_n of_o sin_n be_v that_o which_o we_o have_v here_o security_n give_v we_o against_o though_o it_o will_v abide_v in_o we_o though_o it_o will_v contend_v for_o rule_n by_o deceit_n and_o force_n yet_o it_o shall_v not_o prevail_v it_o shall_v not_o have_v the_o dominion_n and_o this_o be_v a_o case_n of_o the_o high_a importance_n unto_o we_o our_o soul_n be_v and_o must_v be_v under_o the_o rule_n of_o some_o principle_n or_o law._n and_o from_o this_o rule_n our_o state_n be_v determine_v and_o denominate_v we_o be_v either_o servant_n of_o sin_n unto_o death_n or_o of_o obedience_n unto_o righteousness_n rom._n vi_fw-la 16._o this_o be_v the_o substance_n of_o the_o discourse_n of_o the_o apostle_n in_o that_o whole_a chapter_n namely_o that_o the_o state_n of_o the_o soul_n as_o unto_o life_n and_o death_n eternal_a follow_v the_o acceptation_n with_o god._n chap._n ii_o the_o inquiry_n for_o understand_v the_o text_n propose_v the_o first_o speak_v to_o viz._n what_o be_v the_o dominion_n of_o sin_n which_o we_o be_v free_v from_o and_o discharge_v of_o by_o grace_n we_o shall_v inquire_v into_o three_o thing_n from_o the_o word_n of_o this_o text._n i._o what_o be_v that_o dominion_n of_o sin_n which_o we_o be_v free_v from_o and_o discharge_v of_o by_o grace_n ii_o how_o we_o may_v know_v whether_o sin_n have_v the_o dominion_n in_o we_o or_o no._n iii_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n and_o evidence_n of_o the_o assurance_n here_o give_v we_o that_o sin_n shall_v not_o have_v dominion_n over_o we_o namely_o because_o we_o be_v not_o under_o the_o law_n but_o under_o grace_n 1._o as_o unto_o the_o first_o of_o these_o i_o shall_v only_o recount_v some_o such_o property_n of_o it_o as_o will_v discover_v its_o nature_n in_o general_a the_o particular_n wherein_o it_o do_v consist_v will_v be_v consider_v afterward_o 1._o the_o dominion_n of_o sin_n be_v perverse_a and_o evil_a and_o that_o on_o both_o the_o account_n which_o render_v any_o rule_n or_o dominion_n so_o to_o be_v for_o 1._o it_o be_v usurp_v sin_n have_v no_o right_a to_o rule_v in_o the_o soul_n of_o men._n man_n have_v no_o power_n to_o give_v sin_n a_o right_a to_o rule_v over_o they_o they_o may_v voluntary_o enslave_v themselves_o unto_o it_o but_o this_o give_v sin_n no_o right_a or_o title_n all_o man_n have_v original_o another_o lord_n unto_o who_o they_o owe_v all_o obedience_n nor_o can_v any_o thing_n discharge_v they_o from_o their_o allegiance_n thereunto_o and_o this_o be_v the_o law_n of_o god._n the_o apostle_n say_v indeed_o that_o unto_o who_o man_n yield_v themselves_o servant_n to_o obey_v his_o servant_n they_o be_v to_o who_o they_o obey_v whether_o of_o sin_n unto_o death_n or_o of_o obedience_n unto_o righteousness_n v_o 19_o and_o so_o it_o be_v man_n be_v thereby_o the_o proper_a servant_n of_o sin_n they_o become_v so_o by_o their_o own_o voluntary_a subjection_n unto_o it_o but_o this_o give_v sin_n no_o title_n against_o the_o law_n of_o god_n who_o right_a alone_a it_o be_v to_o bear_v sway_n in_o the_o soul_n of_o man_n for_o all_o that_o give_v up_o themselves_o to_o the_o service_n of_o sin_n do_v live_v in_o actual_a rebellion_n against_o their_o natural_a liege_n lord._n hence_o sundry_a thing_n do_v follow_v first_o the_o great_a aggravation_n of_o the_o evil_a of_o a_o state_n of_o sin._n man_n who_o live_v therein_o do_v voluntary_o wrest_v themselves_o what_o lie_v in_o they_o from_o under_o the_o rule_n of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o give_v up_o themselves_o to_o be_v slave_n unto_o this_o tyrant_n can_v it_o lay_v any_o claim_n to_o this_o dominion_n have_v it_o any_o title_n to_o plead_v it_o be_v some_o alleviation_n of_o gild_n in_o they_o that_o give_v up_o themselves_o unto_o it_o but_o man_n yield_v up_o themselves_o to_o the_o slavery_n of_o sin_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v they_o reject_v the_o rule_n of_o god_n law_n and_o choose_v this_o foreign_a yoke_n which_o can_v but_o be_v a_o aggravation_n of_o their_o sin_n and_o misery_n yet_o so_o it_o be_v that_o the_o great_a part_n of_o man_n do_v visible_o and_o open_o profess_v themselves_o the_o servant_n and_o slave_n of_o sin._n they_o wear_v its_o livery_n and_o do_v all_o its_o drudgery_n yea_o they_o boast_v themselves_o in_o their_o bondage_n and_o never_o think_v themselves_o so_o brave_a and_o gallant_a as_o when_o by_o profane_a swear_v drunkenness_n uncleanness_n covetousness_n and_o scoff_v at_o religion_n they_o open_o disavow_v the_o lord_n who_o they_o serve_v the_o master_n to_o who_o they_o do_v belong_v but_o their_o damnation_n sleep_v not_o whatever_o they_o may_v dream_v in_o the_o mean_a time_n 2._o hence_o it_o follow_v that_o ordinary_o all_o man_n have_v a_o right_n in_o themselves_o to_o cast_v off_o the_o rule_n of_o sin_n and_o to_o vindicate_v themselves_o into_o liberty_n they_o may_v when_o they_o will_v plead_v the_o right_n and_o title_n of_o the_o law_n of_o god_n unto_o the_o rule_n of_o their_o soul_n to_o the_o utter_a exclusion_n of_o all_o plea_n and_o pretence_n of_o sin_n for_o its_o power_n they_o have_v right_o to_o say_v unto_o it_o get_v thou_o hence_o what_o have_v i_o to_o do_v any_o more_o with_o idol_n all_o man_n i_o say_v have_v this_o right_n in_o themselves_o because_o of_o the_o natural_a allegiance_n they_o owe_v to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n but_o they_o have_v not_o power_n of_o themselves_o to_o execute_v this_o right_n and_o actual_o to_o cast_v off_o the_o yoke_n of_o sin_n but_o this_o be_v the_o work_n of_o grace_n sin_n be_v dominion_n be_v break_v only_o by_o grace_n but_o you_o will_v say_v then_o unto_o what_o end_n serve_v this_o right_a if_o they_o have_v not_o power_n in_o themselves_o to_o put_v it_o in_o execution_n and_o how_o can_v it_o be_v charge_v as_o a_o aggravation_n of_o their_o sin_n that_o they_o do_v not_o use_v the_o right_n which_o they_o have_v see_v they_o have_v no_o power_n so_o to_o do_v will_v you_o blame_v a_o man_n that_o have_v a_o right_a to_o a_o estate_n if_o he_o do_v not_o recover_v it_o when_o he_o have_v no_o mean_n so_o to_o do_v i_o answer_v brief_o three_o thing_n one_a no_o man_n live_v neglect_v the_o use_n of_o this_o right_n to_o cast_v off_o the_o yoke_n and_o dominion_n of_o sin_n because_o he_o can_v of_o himself_o make_v use_v of_o it_o but_o mere_o because_o he_o will_v not_o he_o do_v voluntary_o choose_v to_o continue_v under_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n and_o look_n on_o every_o thing_n as_o his_o enemy_n that_o will_v deliver_v he_o the_o carnal_a mind_n be_v enmity_n against_o god_n it_o be_v not_o subject_a unto_o his_o law_n nor_o can_v it_o be_v rom._n viij_o 7._o when_o the_o law_n come_v at_o any_o time_n to_o claim_v its_o right_n and_o rule_v over_o the_o soul_n a_o man_n under_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n look_v on_o it_o as_o his_o enemy_n that_o come_v to_o disturb_v his_o peace_n and_o fortify_v his_o mind_n against_o it_o and_o when_o the_o gospel_n its_o offer_n unto_o that_o end_n see_v prov._n i._n 20_o 21_o 22_o 23_o 24_o 25._o and_o john_n iii._o 19_o this_o then_o be_v the_o condition_n of_o every_o one_o that_o abide_v under_o the_o dominion_n of_o sin_n he_o choose_v so_o to_o do_v he_o continue_v in_o that_o state_n by_o a_o act_n of_o his_o own_o will_n he_o avow_v a_o enmity_n unto_o every_o thing_n which_o will_v give_v he_o deliverance_n which_o will_v be_v a_o sore_a aggravation_n of_o his_o condemnation_n at_o the_o last_o day_n 2_o god_n may_v just_o require_v that_o of_o any_o which_o it_o be_v in_o the_o power_n of_o the_o anti-christian_n world_n 2_o thess._n two_o 11_o 12._o and_o with_o many_o despiser_n of_o the_o gospel_n isa._n vi_fw-la 9_o 10._o when_o it_o be_v come_v to_o this_o man_n be_v cast_v at_o law_n and_o have_v lose_v all_o right_a and_o title_n unto_o liberty_n from_o the_o dominion_n of_o sin._n they_o may_v repine_v sometime_o at_o the_o service_n of_o sin_n or_o the_o consequence_n of_o it_o in_o shame_n and_o pain_n in_o the_o shameful_a distemper_n that_o will_v pursue_v many_o in_o their_o uncleanness_n yet_o god_n have_v give_v they_o up_o judicial_o unto_o sin_n they_o have_v not_o so_o much_o as_o a_o right_a to_o put_v up_o one_o prayer_n or_o petition_n for_o deliverance_n nor_o will_v they_o do_v so_o but_o be_v bind_v in_o the_o fetter_n of_o curse_a presumption_n or_o despair_n see_v their_o work_n and_o wages_n rom._n two_o 5_o 6._o this_o be_v the_o most_o woeful_a state_n and_o condition_n of_o sinner_n in_o this_o world_n a_o unavoidable_a entrance_n into_o the_o chamber_n of_o death_n you_o that_o have_v live_v long_o under_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n beware_v lest_o that_o come_v upon_o you_o which_o be_v speak_v of_o in_o these_o scripture_n you_o have_v as_o yet_o a_o right_n unto_o deliverance_n from_o that_o bondage_n and_o servitude_n wherein_o you_o be_v if_o you_o put_v in_o your_o claim_n in_o the_o court_n of_o heaven_n you_o know_v not_o how_o soon_o you_o may_v be_v deprive_v of_o this_o also_o by_o god_n give_v you_o up_o judicial_o unto_o sin_n and_o satan_n then_o all_o complaint_n will_v be_v boast_v and_o a_o profane_a contempt_n of_o all_o thing_n sacred_a unto_o their_o course_n in_o sin._n but_o ordinary_o those_o that_o be_v in_o danger_n of_o this_o judicial_a hardness_n have_v have_v warning_n and_o conviction_n which_o make_v some_o impression_n on_o they_o but_o be_v now_o leave_v without_o any_o call_n and_o rebuke_n or_o at_o least_o any_o sense_n of_o they_o 3_o when_o least_o be_v nigh_o unto_o a_o final_a and_o fatal_a rejection_n 4._o a_o voluntary_a relinquishment_n of_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n and_o conversion_n unto_o god_n which_o man_n have_v enjoy_v and_o this_o be_v common_o accompany_v with_o a_o hatred_n of_o the_o word_n and_o those_o by_o who_o it_o be_v dispense_v such_o person_n god_n frequent_o and_o that_o visible_o give_v up_o in_o a_o
