essence_n of_o eternity_n which_o in_o adam_n be_v forsake_v of_o the_o soul_n mercury_n obtain_v the_o life_n again_o 10._o and_o thus_o we_o know_v that_o the_o essence_n of_o eternity_n lie_v hide_v in_o the_o anxious_a mercury_n as_o in_o the_o fortress_n of_o death_n and_o our_o writing_n and_o teach_v be_v to_o show_v how_o a_o man_n may_v bring_v the_o poysonful_a mercury_n with_o a_o body_n and_o with_o the_o same_o tincture_n the_o essence_n of_o time_n and_o reconcile_v they_o in_o one_o that_o the_o whole_a corpus_n of_o the_o inward_a and_o outward_a world_n may_v be_v only_o one_o that_o so_o there_o may_v be_v only_o one_o will_n in_o the_o spirit_n viz._n a_o love-hunger_n and_o this_o hunger_n do_v then_o make_v unto_o itself_o only_a one_o essence_n and_o tincture_v cure_v and_o heal_v by_o the_o inward_a and_o the_o inward_a do_v illustrate_v it_o as_o the_o sun_n through-shines_a the_o water_n or_o as_o the_o fire_n do_v set_v the_o iron_n quite_o through_o of_o a_o light_a glee_n here_o now_o need_v no_o other_o cure_n 69._o but_o see_v the_o devil_n in_o the_o wrath_n of_o the_o eternal_a nature_n do_v oppose_v the_o soul_n as_o a_o enemy_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o continual_o cast_v his_o poysonful_a imagination_n at_o the_o soul_n to_o tempt_v and_o try_v it_o and_o the_o anger_n or_o wrath_n of_o the_o eternal_a nature_n be_v manifest_a in_o the_o outward_a man_n which_o adam_n awaken_v and_o stir_v up_o thereupon_o this_o wrath_n be_v oftentimes_o stir_v up_o by_o the_o devil_n and_o his_o servant_n that_o it_o do_v effectual_o work_v and_o burn_v in_o the_o outward_a body_n and_o even_o then_o the_o inward_a love-fire_n go_v out_o in_o the_o outward_a man_n as_o a_o red-hot_a iron_n be_v quench_v in_o the_o water_n yet_o not_o so_o soon_o in_o the_o internal_a but_o in_o the_o external_a man_n unless_o the_o outward_a man_n continue_v lie_v in_o the_o water_n mire_n of_o sin_n so_o that_o the_o soul_n which_o have_v give_v itself_o into_o the_o nothing_o viz._n into_o the_o liberty_n into_o the_o life_n of_o god_n do_v enter_v again_o with_o its_o desire_n into_o the_o outward_a sinful_a man_n than_o it_o lose_v the_o inward_a sun_n for_o it_o go_v again_o out_o of_o the_o nothing_o into_o the_o something_o viz._n into_o the_o source_n 70._o thus_o the_o outward_a body_n must_v then_o have_v a_o outward_a cure_n and_o albeit_o the_o inward_a man_n yet_o live_v in_o god_n yet_o whereas_o the_o soul_n have_v imagine_v into_o the_o outward_a wrath_n so_o that_o the_o divine_a tincturation_n be_v no_o long_o in_o the_o outward_a man_n the_o outward_a mercury_n viz._n
the_o out-spoken_a express_v word_n must_v have_v a_o tincturation_n from_o the_o outward_a express_v love_n and_o light_n unless_o the_o will-spirit_n of_o the_o soul_n do_v whole_o re-enter_v into_o the_o inward_a hide_a man_n and_o be_v again_o transform_v transmute_v and_o then_o the_o cure_n may_v be_v again_o introduce_v into_o the_o outward_a man_n be_v the_o etc._n through-shining_a love_n of_o god_n in_o the_o light_n which_o be_v exceed_o precious_a 71._o but_o now_o this_o herb_n be_v rare_o to_o be_v find_v upon_o the_o earth_n for_o man_n do_v eat_v only_o of_o the_o forbid_a tree_n therefore_o the_o poison_n of_o the_o serpent_n do_v so_o spring_v up_o in_o they_o in_o the_o wrath_n of_o the_o eternal_a and_o external_a nature_n so_o that_o they_o must_v also_o have_v a_o external_a cure_n for_o their_o serpent_n poison_n in_o the_o outward_a mercury_n 72._o it_o be_v indeed_o possible_a for_o a_o man_n to_o live_v without_o sickness_n but_o he_o must_v bring_v the_o divine_a tincturation_n from_o the_o inward_a man_n through_o the_o outward_a which_o be_v very_o difficult_a to_o do_v in_o the_o world_n for_o the_o outward_a man_n live_v among_o the_o thorn_n of_o god_n wrath_n which_o gall_n and_o sting_v he_o on_o every_o side_n and_o blow_v up_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n so_o that_o it_o burn_v in_o the_o outward_a man_n and_o then_o the_o tincturation_n of_o god_n love_n may_v not_o continue_v there_o it_o be_v indeed_o there_o but_o not_o in_o the_o outward_a enkindle_a abomination_n but_o it_o dwell_v in_o itself_o like_v as_o the_o light_n dwell_v in_o self-hood_n in_o true_a resignation_n into_o divine_a obedience_n and_o this_o likewise_o a_o right_a christian_n desire_v to_o do_v he_o desire_v continual_o to_o die_v to_o the_o iniquity_n of_o
