the_o law_n can_v make_v he_o have_v perfect_o pay_v every_o pennyworth_n of_o debt_n that_o he_o owe_v to_o the_o law_n the_o weak_a saint_n it_o may_v be_v a_o poor_a saint_n that_o man_n can_v see_v nothing_o but_o corruption_n in_o all_o the_o day_n and_o all_o the_o week_n and_o all_o the_o year_n long_o almost_o yet_o that_o man_n if_o he_o be_v a_o true_a saint_n though_o he_o be_v weak_a have_v perfect_o in_o christ_n keep_v the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o be_v a_o just_a man_n and_o the_o law_n of_o god_n can_v come_v upon_o he_o nor_o the_o sergeant_n the_o devil_n to_o arrest_v he_o for_o one_o penny_n or_o farthing_n because_o he_o can_v say_v as_o paul_n say_v here_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n be_v fulfil_v in_o we_o therefore_o that_o be_v the_o reason_n as_o i_o tell_v you_o that_o paul_n say_v i_o be_o dead_a to_o the_o law_n that_o be_v i_o be_o as_o free_a from_o the_o law_n as_o a_o man_n that_o be_v dead_a when_o a_o man_n be_v dead_a the_o law_n go_v no_o further_a on_o he_o so_o it_o be_v say_v we_o be_v deliver_v from_o the_o law_n and_o free_v from_o the_o law_n and_o that_o be_v the_o reason_n also_o that_o the_o apostle_n three_o time_n or_o sword_n nay_o in_o all_o these_o thing_n we_o be_v more_o than_o conqueror_n through_o christ_n that_o love_v we_o indeed_o tribulation_n and_o hunger_n and_o famine_n they_o be_v sad_a thing_n but_o these_o be_v the_o least_o trouble_n of_o a_o christian_a these_o outward_a misery_n over_o these_o we_o be_v more_o than_o conqueror_n say_v paul_n i_o can_v tie_v my_o right_a hand_n at_o my_o back_n and_o with_o my_o left_a hand_n beat_v all_o these_o back_n i_o can_v beat_v they_o with_o a_o finger_n nay_o i_o say_v more_o neither_o death_n nor_o life_n that_o be_v more_o nor_o angel_n nor_o principality_n nor_o power_n nor_o thing_n present_a nor_o thing_n to_o come_v nor_o height_n nor_o depth_n nor_o any_o other_o creature_n shall_v be_v able_a to_o separate_v we_o from_o the_o triumph_v over_o the_o devil_n and_o over_o death_n and_o hell_n for_o all_o their_o power_n as_o i_o say_v be_v from_o the_o law_n and_o if_o the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n be_v fulfil_v than_o all_o our_o enemy_n be_v subdue_v and_o all_o be_v clear_a heaven_n be_v open_a and_o god_n be_v i_o and_o the_o favour_n of_o god_n be_v to_o i_o for_o know_v this_o that_o there_o be_v no_o natural_a inbred_a hatred_n in_o god_n to_o his_o creature_n there_o be_v nothing_o that_o keep_v the_o creature_n from_o the_o full_a enjoyment_n of_o god_n but_o the_o law_n not_o be_v satisfy_v god_n make_v a_o law_n and_o we_o make_v the_o breach_n of_o it_o and_o there_o fall_v out_o the_o distance_n between_o the_o creature_n and_o god_n whether_o man_n or_o devil_n now_o then_o if_o i_o can_v say_v though_o i_o be_v a_o sinful_a man_n yet_o jesus_n christ_n have_v fulfil_v the_o law_n the_o law_n have_v a_o full_a righteousness_n to_o a_o farthing_n than_o i_o know_v i_o be_o one_o with_o god_n he_o be_v whole_o for_o i_o and_o i_o for_o he_o and_o all_o the_o enemy_n of_o my_o salvation_n be_v conquer_v now_o if_o the_o lord_n will_v open_v your_o eye_n to_o understand_v the_o hope_n of_o your_o call_n the_o glorious_a condition_n you_o be_v bring_v into_o you_o will_v not_o walk_v so_o weak_o and_o poor_o and_o sad_o and_o deject_o that_o every_o thing_n shall_v cast_v demand_v a_o farthing_n of_o he_o that_o whereas_o the_o breach_n of_o the_o law_n keep_v we_o from_o communion_n with_o god_n that_o be_v take_v away_o we_o be_v as_o righteous_a as_o if_o we_o have_v never_o fall_v o_o glorious_a condition_n there_o paul_n eph._n 1._o he_o pray_v that_o they_o may_v know_v the_o riches_n and_o hope_n of_o their_o call_n that_o be_v that_o they_o may_v understand_v what_o this_o glorious_a call_n be_v that_o god_n have_v call_v we_o to_o that_o be_v a_o second_o lesson_n we_o shall_v learn_v hence_o first_o see_v the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n be_v fulfil_v in_o we_o we_o shall_v learn_v how_o to_o build_v our_o justification_n aright_o how_o to_o lay_v the_o foundation_n of_o it_o and_o second_o we_o shall_v endeavour_v to_o get_v our_o spirit_n raise_v like_o people_n that_o be_v free_v from_o the_o law_n use_v 3_o three_o and_o there_o i_o shall_v end_v for_o this_o time_n be_v free_o and_o full_o justify_v by_o the_o grace_n of_o jesus_n christ_n this_o shall_v follow_v to_o any_o one_o that_o understand_v it_o that_o therefore_o we_o shall_v study_v and_o learn_v to_o conform_v ourselves_o in_o our_o heart_n and_o life_n out_o of_o love_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n there_o come_v in_o holiness_n and_o there_o it_o come_v in_o amain_o and_o never_o before_o all_o before_o be_v nothing_o but_o bungle_v but_o than_o it_o come_v right_o we_o shall_v i_o say_v conform_v ourselves_o to_o the_o example_n and_o to_o the_o rule_n of_o jesus_n christ_n in_o his_o gospel_n and_o that_o you_o may_v understand_v that_o you_o must_v know_v that_o every_o man_n in_o this_o world_n have_v a_o rule_n to_o walk_v by_o and_o there_o be_v but_o three_o great_a rule_n and_o all_o man_n do_v and_o must_v conform_v to_o one_o of_o these_o three_o for_o there_o be_v no_o man_n that_o do_v a_o action_n but_o it_o be_v in_o reference_n to_o a_o rule_n 1._o now_o you_o have_v one_o rule_n in_o 1_o pet._n 1._o 14._o as_o obedient_a child_n not_o fashion_v yourselves_o according_a to_o the_o lust_n of_o your_o former_a ignorance_n which_o show_v that_o once_o they_o do_v conform_v themselves_o they_o do_v fashion_v themselves_o unto_o their_o lust_n but_o say_v he_o now_o god_n have_v justify_v you_o you_o must_v not_o conform_v yourselves_o to_o your_o lust_n most_o of_o mankind_n make_v their_o lust_n their_o rule_n which_o the_o prophet_n call_v in_o scripture_n to_o do_v that_o which_o be_v right_a in_o their_o own_o eye_n to_o do_v what_o be_v their_o mind_n what_o they_o like_v in_o their_o own_o mind_n and_o as_o that_o worthy_a dr._n preston_n say_v they_o think_v when_o they_o be_v in_o their_o bed_n what_o place_n they_o shall_v go_v to_o and_o where_o they_o shall_v spend_v their_o time_n and_o when_o they_o be_v up_o they_o do_v that_o which_o be_v right_a in_o their_o own_o eye_n what_o they_o have_v a_o lust_n to_o when_o they_o have_v a_o lust_n to_o be_v drink_v they_o will_v be_v drink_v when_o they_o have_v a_o lust_n to_o be_v filthy_a they_o will_v be_v filthy_a when_o they_o have_v a_o lust_n to_o be_v idle_a or_o a_o lust_n to_o be_v malicious_a against_o their_o neighbour_n they_o will_v be_v so_o so_o that_o the_o stir_n of_o their_o lust_n be_v their_o rule_n and_o their_o whole_a life_n
upon_o the_o second_o we_o have_v prove_v it_o and_o open_v the_o point_n and_o have_v make_v some_o use_n of_o it_o first_o that_o from_o hence_o we_o may_v learn_v where_o our_o justification_n lie_v and_o whereon_o it_o be_v build_v not_o upon_o any_o thing_n in_o we_o or_o do_v by_o we_o but_o only_o upon_o the_o death_n and_o resurrection_n of_o jesus_n christ_n second_o hence_o all_o that_o be_v saint_n all_o that_o believe_v in_o jesus_n christ_n shall_v labour_v to_o see_v the_o glorious_a condition_n they_o be_v in_o by_o christ_n three_o we_o shall_v learn_v be_v justify_v free_o and_o full_o by_o the_o grace_n of_o jesus_n christ_n to_o conform_v ourselves_o in_o our_o heart_n and_o life_n to_o the_o example_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o to_o his_o rule_n in_o the_o gospel_n use_v 4._o i_o shall_v add_v but_o one_o word_n more_o from_o this_o lesson_n that_o be_v that_o see_v the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n be_v fulfil_v in_o they_o that_o believe_v you_o may_v hence_o see_v that_o none_o be_v further_o from_o antinomianism_n than_o those_o that_o be_v true_a believer_n those_o that_o be_v godly_a saint_n you_o have_v a_o great_a stir_n concern_v antinomian_o what_o they_o shall_v be_v it_o be_v one_o that_o be_v against_o the_o law_n that_o be_v the_o signification_n of_o the_o greek_a word_n now_o the_o question_n be_v who_o be_v most_o against_o the_o law_n of_o god_n i_o do_v not_o deny_v but_o there_o be_v some_o and_o they_o may_v be_v call_v antinomian_o though_o we_o shall_v not_o miscall_v people_n yet_o they_o deserve_v it_o but_o now_o a_o saint_n that_o be_v in_o christ_n he_o be_v not_o a_o antinomian_a he_o be_v not_o against_o the_o law_n because_o he_o have_v satisfy_v the_o law_n every_o man_n must_v pay_v the_o law_n and_o they_o that_o will_v fulfil_v the_o law_n with_o their_o own_o righteousness_n they_o do_v the_o law_n wrong_n they_o that_o do_v most_o here_o and_o they_o that_o suffer_v most_o in_o hell_n they_o can_v never_o satisfy_v the_o law_n but_o a_o christian_n have_v satisfy_v the_o law_n because_o he_o have_v give_v it_o a_o perfect_a righteousness_n now_o if_o a_o man_n shall_v owe_v ten_o thousand_o pound_n and_o he_o have_v but_o fifty_o shilling_n a_o year_n come_v in_o and_o it_o may_v be_v one_o year_n he_o pay_v ten_o shilling_n another_o year_n he_o pay_v a_o noble_a and_o another_o year_n three_o penny_n yet_o he_o pay_v as_o well_o as_o he_o can_v but_o now_o suppose_v there_o come_v a_o surety_n and_o he_o pay_v the_o whole_a ten_o thousand_o pound_n and_o he_o say_v to_o the_o creditor_n you_o shall_v be_v pay_v no_o more_o by_o three_o pence_n but_o you_o shall_v receive_v the_o whole_a sum_n what_o do_v you_o think_v be_v not_o that_o better_a so_o there_o be_v none_o that_o satisfy_v the_o law_n so_o roundly_o and_o fulfil_v it_o so_o perfect_o as_o he_o that_o relinquish_v all_o that_o be_v in_o he_o and_o lay_n hold_v on_o jesus_n christ_n and_o in_o he_o pay_v god_n to_o a_o farthing_n therefore_o when_o paul_n be_v prove_v strong_o that_o we_o be_v justify_v by_o christ_n and_o not_o by_o the_o law_n say_v he_o we_o take_v not_o away_o the_o law_n but_o we_o establish_v the_o law_n this_o be_v a_o better_a way_n of_o fulfil_v the_o law_n than_o any_o other_o all_o the_o damn_a man_n in_o hell_n and_o all_o the_o pharisee_n on_o earth_n can_v satisfy_v the_o law_n so_o well_o as_o one_o poor_a sinner_n that_o believe_v in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o so_o for_o matter_n of_o practice_n a_o man_n that_o believe_v in_o jesus_n christ_n he_o walk_v more_o strict_o than_o any_o pharisee_fw-mi can_v for_o he_o look_v not_o only_o what_o be_v lawful_a but_o what_o be_v convenient_a he_o walk_v by_o a_o more_o sublime_a excellent_a rule_n a_o pharisee_n look_v only_o what_o be_v lawful_a and_o what_o be_v not_o lawful_a but_o a_o christian_a he_o look_v what_o be_v exact_a and_o expedient_a take_v any_o man_n that_o know_v what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v justify_v by_o christ_n and_o that_o man_n go_v a_o thousand-fold_n further_o than_o another_o for_o a_o man_n that_o will_v be_v save_v by_o his_o own_o fulfil_n of_o the_o law_n if_o he_o can_v come_v up_o to_o the_o law_n he_o will_v bring_v the_o law_n down_o to_o he_o as_o a_o man_n that_o have_v a_o heavy_a burden_n if_o it_o be_v too_o heavy_a for_o he_o he_o will_v cast_v off_o some_o of_o it_o so_o when_o a_o man_n go_v about_o to_o keep_v the_o law_n and_o find_v it_o too_o heavy_a for_o he_o he_o will_v throw_v away_o some_o and_o cut_v out_o a_o part_n and_o make_v a_o carnal_a gross_a law_n and_o endeavour_v to_o keep_v that_o now_o a_o man_n that_o be_v justify_v by_o christ_n he_o know_v that_o the_o law_n must_v be_v satisfy_v and_o so_o he_o take_v it_o in_o the_o pure_a spirituality_n and_o go_v to_o christ_n jesus_n and_o he_o have_v satisfy_v all_o so_o much_o brief_o for_o the_o second_o lesson_n now_o i_o shall_v enter_v a_o little_a upon_o the_o three_o as_o far_o as_o the_o lord_n shall_v give_v strength_n and_o time_n those_o that_o believe_v and_o have_v this_o great_a privilege_n which_o be_v the_o foundation_n of_o all_o other_o to_o have_v the_o law_n perfect_o fulfil_v for_o they_o in_o christ_n they_o be_v here_o describe_v to_o be_v such_o as_o walk_v not_o according_a to_o the_o flesh_n but_o according_a to_o the_o spirit_n so_o in_o the_o three_o place_n take_v this_o doctrine_n or_o lesson_n doct._n 3._o that_o they_o and_o they_o only_a that_o walk_v not_o according_a to_o the_o flesh_n but_o according_a to_o the_o spirit_n be_v partaker_n of_o this_o privilege_n to_o have_v the_o benefit_n of_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n to_o fulfil_v the_o law_n of_o god_n for_o they_o i_o say_v they_o and_o they_o only_o have_v it_o for_o it_o exclude_v all_o other_o the_o scripture_n do_v not_o only_o set_v it_o down_o positive_o as_o it_o say_v go_v baptize_v all_o nation_n in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o father_n and_o of_o the_o son_n and_o of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n therefore_o we_o may_v conclude_v thence_o that_o we_o may_v baptize_v those_o that_o be_v disciple_n but_o from_o that_o place_n to_o gather_v this_o doctrine_n that_o they_o and_o they_o only_o be_v to_o be_v baptize_v can_v be_v right_o but_o here_o i_o say_v it_o be_v they_o and_o they_o only_o why_o so_o because_o we_o see_v after_o those_o that_o walk_v according_a to_o the_o flesh_n shall_v die_v the_o righteousness_n of_o the_o law_n be_v not_o fulfil_v for_o they_o for_o than_o they_o shall_v never_o die_v nor_o be_v damn_v they_o that_o walk_v after_o the_o spirit_n and_o they_o only_o have_v this_o privilege_n now_o the_o main_a business_n that_o i_o shall_v endeavour_v at_o this_o time_n will_v be_v only_o to_o open_a to_o you_o these_o two_o word_n what_o iâ—_n be_v to_o walk_v and_o what_o be_v mean_v by_o flesh_n and_o what_o by_o spirit_n for_o if_o we_o understand_v what_o it_o be_v to_o walk_v according_a to_o the_o flesh_n we_o shall_v easy_o understand_v what_o it_o be_v to_o walk_v according_a to_o the_o spirit_n concern_v the_o former_a word_n to_o walk_v i_o shall_v say_v but_o
