will_v not_o examine_v themselves_o may_v not_o presume_v to_o eat_v what_o then_o must_v such_o person_n do_v for_o if_o they_o eat_v not_o they_o die_v the_o ignorant_a must_v be_v catechise_v and_o learn_v if_o they_o be_v ashamed_a of_o this_o they_o be_v ashamed_a of_o christ_n and_o must_v perish_v for_o hate_v instruction_n they_o that_o will_v not_o examine_v themselves_o must_v consider_v the_o difficulty_n of_o this_o duty_n affright_v many_o from_o this_o sacrament_n and_o indeed_o consider_v how_o most_o of_o we_o live_v it_o be_v no_o wonder_n that_o it_o seem_v difficult_a but_o we_o shall_v remember_v first_o that_o this_o self-examination_n be_v a_o duty_n necessary_a not_o only_o now_o and_o then_o before_o a_o sacrament_n but_o at_o all_o time_n that_o we_o may_v understand_v how_o far_o we_o be_v christian_n indeed_o and_o therefore_o the_o difficulty_n may_v as_o well_o affright_v we_o from_o be_v christian_n as_o from_o this_o sacrament_n and_o so_o i_o fear_v it_o do_v too_o many_o who_o therefore_o abstain_v from_o the_o lord_n table_n because_o they_o have_v no_o mind_n to_o be_v christian_n any_o far_a than_o in_o name_n only_o and_o then_o second_o we_o must_v remember_v that_o whatever_o difficulty_n there_o be_v in_o this_o duty_n it_o be_v of_o our_o own_o make_n and_o we_o may_v make_v the_o duty_n more_o easy_a if_o we_o will_n for_o 1._o we_o continue_v willing_o ignorant_a of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o its_o use_n and_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v hard_a for_o we_o to_o examine_v ourselves_o by_o a_o rule_n which_o we_o understand_v not_o but_o let_v we_o take_v pain_n to_o learn_v perfect_o the_o particular_n of_o our_o christian_a faith_n and_o duty_n gather_v from_o the_o sacred_a scripture_n and_o explain_v in_o easy_a catechism_n and_o often_o beg_v the_o minister_n help_n for_o the_o right_a understanding_n and_o due_a apply_v thereof_o to_o ourselves_o open_v free_o to_o he_o all_o our_o ignorances_n and_o doubt_n and_o this_o part_n of_o the_o difficulty_n will_v be_v remove_v 2._o we_o live_v loose_o and_o careless_o not_o observe_v well_o our_o own_o temper_n and_o action_n and_o have_v let_v they_o slip_v without_o any_o notice_n of_o they_o we_o can_v recall_v to_o mind_n and_o examine_v what_o we_o never_o regard_v let_v we_o but_o once_o every_o day_n take_v a_o little_a time_n to_o consider_v what_o inclination_n in_o we_o have_v that_o day_n show_v themselves_o and_o what_o have_v be_v our_o thought_n word_n and_o action_n and_o compare_v they_o with_o the_o rule_n of_o life_n observe_v how_o they_o agree_v or_o disagree_v with_o it_o and_o hearty_o blessing_n god_n for_o any_o good_a that_o by_o his_o help_n we_o have_v do_v humble_o bewail_v confess_v and_o beg_a pardon_n for_o all_o our_o fail_n of_o omission_n or_o commission_n pray_v devout_o and_o serious_o for_o more_o strength_n and_o grace_n to_o live_v better_o resolve_v to_o do_v our_o utmost_a endeavour_n to_o amend_v and_o improve_v daily_o we_o shall_v soon_o find_v all_o the_o difficulty_n over_o especial_o if_o we_o will_v as_o often_o as_o we_o find_v cause_n to_o doubt_v of_o any_o thing_n open_v our_o soul_n free_o to_o our_o spiritual_a guide_n god_n minister_n for_o their_o assistance_n which_o course_n till_o i_o be_v take_v we_o shall_v every_o where_o find_v too_o few_o christian_n but_o if_o we_o will_v do_v thus_o we_o shall_v learn_v to_o know_v ourselves_o so_o well_o that_o it_o will_v be_v a_o very_a easy_a matter_n to_o examine_v our_o selveâ—_n against_o a_o communion_n now_o that_o we_o may_v be_v worthy_a communicant_n we_o must_v examine_v our_o self_n both_o whether_o we_o be_v sound_a christianâ—_n or_o no_o and_o whether_o we_o be_v right_o dispose_v for_o this_o particular_a christian_a duty_n 1._o we_o must_v be_v of_o christ_n family_n as_o christian_n before_o we_o may_v feast_v at_o christ_n table_n as_o communicant_n wâ—_n be_v solemn_o admit_v into_o the_o family_n or_o church_n of_o christ_n by_o baptism_n wherein_o we_o be_v dedicate_v to_o god_n the_o father_n son_n and_o holy_a ghost_n and_o admit_v into_o the_o bond_n of_o a_o sacred_a covenant_n with_o the_o ever_o bless_a and_o glorious_a trinity_n so_o long_o as_o we_o continue_v faithful_a in_o this_o covenant_n so_o long_o be_v we_o christian_n and_o therefore_o this_o be_v first_o to_o be_v inquire_v into_o whether_o or_o no_o we_o faithful_o stand_v to_o this_o baptismal_a covenant_n 2._o then_o be_v we_o due_o dispose_v for_o this_o duty_n of_o communicate_v when_o understand_v the_o nature_n end_n and_o benefit_n of_o this_o sacrament_n we_o find_v the_o affection_n of_o our_o heart_n in_o some_o measure_n suitable_a thereunto_o and_o to_o this_o purpose_n it_o hatred_n of_o sin_n and_o a_o full_a resolution_n to_o forsake_v it_o when_o it_o be_v come_v to_o this_o we_o will_v be_v very_o angry_a at_o our_o own_o folly_n that_o we_o have_v so_o long_o
