of_o england_n or_o dominion_n of_o wales_n without_o the_o consent_n of_o the_o owner_n or_o person_n chief_o entrust_v with_o the_o custody_n thereof_o or_o shall_v be_v aid_v or_o assist_v therein_o and_o shall_v be_v convict_v thereof_o by_o the_o confession_n of_o the_o party_n or_o by_o the_o oath_n of_o one_o or_o more_o credible_a witness_n before_o one_o or_o more_o justice_n of_o aforesaid_a that_o it_o shall_v and_o may_v be_v lawful_a value_n how_o to_o be_v settle_v come_v to_o any_o tenement_n under_o ten_o pound_n yearly_a value_n upon_o complaint_n make_v by_o the_o churchwarden_n or_o overseer_n of_o the_o poor_a of_o any_o parish_n to_o any_o justice_n of_o peace_n within_o forty_o day_n after_o any_o such_o person_n or_o person_n come_v so_o to_o settle_v as_o aforesaid_a in_o any_o tenement_n under_o the_o yearly_a value_n of_o ten_o pound_n for_o any_o two_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n whereof_o one_o to_o be_v of_o the_o quorum_fw-la of_o the_o division_n where_o any_o person_n or_o person_n that_o be_v likely_a to_o be_v chargeable_a to_o the_o parish_n shall_v come_v to_o inhabit_v by_o their_o warrant_n to_o remove_v and_o convey_v such_o person_n or_o person_n to_o such_o parish_n where_o he_o or_o they_o be_v last_o legal_o settle_v either_o as_o a_o native_a housholder_n sojourner_n apprentice_n or_o servant_n for_o the_o space_n of_o forty_o day_n at_o the_o least_o unless_o he_o or_o they_o give_v sufficient_a security_n for_o the_o discharge_n of_o the_o say_a parish_n to_o be_v allow_v by_o the_o say_a justice_n session_n person_n grieve_v may_v appeal_v to_o the_o quarter_n session_n provide_v always_o that_o all_o such_o person_n who_o think_v themselves_o aggrieve_v by_o any_o such_o judgement_n of_o the_o say_v for_o any_o person_n or_o person_n to_o go_v into_o any_o county_n parish_n or_o place_n to_o work_v in_o time_n of_o harvest_n or_o at_o any_o time_n to_o work_v at_o any_o other_o work_n so_o that_o he_o or_o they_o carry_v with_o he_o or_o they_o a_o certificate_n from_o the_o minister_n of_o the_o parish_n and_o one_o of_o the_o churchwarden_n and_o one_o of_o the_o overséer_v for_o the_o poor_a for_o the_o say_a year_n that_o he_o or_o they_o have_v a_o dwell_a house_n or_o place_n in_o which_o he_o or_o they_o inhabit_v and_o have_v leave_v wife_n and_o child_n or_o some_o of_o they_o there_o or_o otherwise_o as_o the_o condition_n of_o the_o person_n shall_v require_v and_o be_v declare_v a_o inhabitant_n or_o inhabitant_n there_o and_o in_o such_o case_n if_o the_o person_n or_o person_n shall_v not_o return_v to_o the_o place_n aforesaid_a when_o he_o or_o their_o work_n be_v finish_v or_o shall_v fall_v sick_a or_o impotent_a whilst_o he_o or_o they_o be_v in_o the_o say_a work_n it_o shall_v not_o be_v account_v a_o settlement_n in_o the_o case_n abovesaid_a but_o that_o it_o shall_v and_o may_v be_v lawful_a for_o two_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n to_o convey_v the_o say_a person_n or_o person_n to_o the_o place_n of_o he_o or_o their_o habitation_n as_o aforesaid_a under_o the_o pain_n and_o penalty_n in_o this_o act_n prescribe_v and_o if_o such_o person_n or_o person_n shall_v refuse_v to_o go_v or_o shall_v not_o remain_v in_o such_o parish_n where_o they_o ought_v to_o be_v settle_v as_o aforesaid_a but_o shall_v return_v of_o his_o own_o accord_n to_o the_o parish_n from_o whence_o he_o be_v remove_v it_o shall_v and_o may_v be_v lawful_a for_o any_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n of_o the_o city_n county_n or_o town-corporate_a where_o the_o say_a offence_n shall_v be_v commit_v to_o send_v such_o person_n or_o person_n offend_v to_o the_o house_n of_o correction_n there_o to_o be_v punish_v as_o a_o vagabond_n or_o to_o a_o office_n by_o this_o act_n appoint_v and_o that_o upon_o the_o vacancy_n by_o death_n or_o otherwise_o of_o any_o assistant_n the_o power_n to_o elect_v in_o their_o room_n be_v in_o the_o say_a common-council_n and_o the_o election_n of_o the_o deputy-president_n or_o treasurer_n and_o all_o other_o officer_n in_o the_o say_a precedent_n and_o major_a part_n of_o the_o assistant_n as_o aforesaid_a and_o that_o a_o precedent_n a_o deputy-president_n a_o treasurer_n and_o assistant_n be_v nominate_v and_o appoint_v by_o the_o lord_n chancellor_n or_o lord_n keeper_n of_o the_o great_a seal_n of_o england_n for_o the_o time_n be_v out_o of_o the_o most_o fit_a person_n inhabit_v in_o the_o city_n of_o westminster_n or_o the_o liberty_n thereof_o for_o the_o corporation_n or_o corporation_n workhouse_n or_o work-house_n within_o the_o same_o and_o for_o the_o say_a place_n within_o the_o wéek_o bill_n of_o mortality_n in_o the_o say_a county_n of_o middlesex_n and_o major_a part_n of_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n for_o the_o say_a county_n in_o their_o respective_a quarter-session_n assemble_v out_o of_o the_o most_o able_a and_o honest_a inhabitant_n and_o fréeholder_n of_o every_o of_o the_o say_a county_n of_o middlesex_n and_o surrey_n respective_o a_o precedent_n a_o deputy-president_n a_o treasurer_n and_o assistant_n for_o the_o corporation_n or_o corporation_n workhouse_n or_o work-house_n of_o the_o place_n aforesaid_a in_o middlesex_n and_o surrey_n and_o that_o upon_o the_o vacancy_n by_o death_n or_o otherwise_o of_o any_o of_o the_o precedent_n deputy-president_n treasurer_n or_o assistant_n in_o the_o city_n of_o westminster_n and_o place_n aforesaid_a in_o middlesex_n and_o surrey_n westminster_n city_n of_o westminster_n the_o power_n to_o elect_v other_o in_o their_o room_n be_v in_o the_o major_a part_n of_o the_o respective_a justice_n of_o peace_n who_o in_o their_o general_n quarter-session_n from_o time_n to_o time_n shall_v according_o supply_v such_o vacant_a place_n and_o that_o at_o every_o quarter-session_n they_o shall_v require_v and_o take_v a_o account_n in_o write_v of_o all_o the_o receipt_n charge_n and_o disbursement_n of_o the_o officer_n and_o treasurer_n of_o such_o corporation_n or_o corporation_n workhouse_n or_o work-house_n how_o many_o poor_a people_n have_v be_v employ_v and_o set_v to_o work_v in_o the_o year_n last_o pass_v and_o what_o stock_n there_o be_v
that_o purpose_n and_o that_o the_o respective_a sheriff_n shall_v be_v allow_v or_o pay_v from_o the_o king_n upon_o their_o respective_a account_n in_o the_o exchequer_n all_o such_o charge_n by_o they_o expend_v for_o convey_v embarque_a and_o transport_v of_o such_o person_n which_o shall_v be_v allow_v by_o the_o say_v respective_a court_n from_o whence_o they_o receive_v their_o respective_a warrant_n and_o which_o shall_v not_o have_v be_v by_o any_o of_o the_o way_n aforementioned_a pay_v secure_v or_o reimburse_v unto_o they_o as_o aforesaid_a l._n how_o the_o offender_n may_v be_v discharge_v upon_o payment_n of_o 100_o l._n provide_v always_o and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v that_o in_o case_n the_o offender_n so_o indict_v and_o convict_v for_o the_o say_v three_o offence_n shall_v pay_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o register_n or_o clerk_n of_o the_o court_n or_o session_n where_o he_o shall_v be_v convict_v before_o the_o say_a court_n or_o session_n shall_v be_v end_v the_o sum_n of_o one_o hundred_o pound_n that_o then_o the_o say_a offender_n shall_v be_v discharge_v from_o imprisonment_n and_o transportation_n and_o the_o judgement_n for_o the_o same_o offence_n punishment_n of_o offender_n after_o the_o three_o offence_n and_o be_v it_o further_o enact_v that_o the_o like_a imprisonment_n indictment_n arraignment_n and_o proceed_n shall_v be_v against_o every_o such_o offender_n as_o often_o as_o he_o shall_v again_o offend_v after_o such_o three_o offence_n nevertheless_o be_v dischargeable_a and_o discharge_v by_o the_o payment_n of_o the_o like_a sum_n as_o be_v pay_v by_o such_o offender_n for_o he_o or_o her_o say_a offence_n next_o before_o commit_v together_o with_o the_o additional_a and_o increase_v sum_n of_o one_o hundred_o pound_n more_o upon_o every_o new_a offence_n commit_v the_o say_v respective_a sum_n to_o be_v pay_v as_o aforesaid_a and_o to_o be_v dispose_v of_o as_o follow_v viz_o the_o one_o moiety_n for_o the_o repair_n of_o the_o parish_n church_n or_o church_n dispose_v how_o the_o say_a penalty_n of_o 100_o l._n shall_v be_v dispose_v chappel_n or_o chapel_n of_o such_o parish_n within_o which_o such_o conventicle_n assembly_n or_o meeting_n shall_v be_v hold_v and_o the_o other_o moiety_n to_o the_o repair_n of_o the_o highway_n of_o the_o say_a parish_n or_o parish_n if_o need_v require_v or_o otherwise_o for_o the_o amendment_n of_o such_o highway_n as_o the_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n at_o their_o respective_a quarter-session_n shall_v direct_v and_o appoint_v and_o if_o any_o constable_n headborough_z or_o tythingman_n shall_v neglect_v to_o execute_v any_o the_o say_a warrant_n make_v unto_o they_o for_o sequester_v distrain_v and_o sell_v any_o of_o the_o good_n and_o chattel_n of_o any_o offender_n against_o this_o act_n for_o the_o levy_v such_o sum_n of_o money_n as_o shall_v be_v impose_v for_o the_o first_o or_o second_o offence_n he_o shall_v forfeit_v for_o every_o such_o neglect_n the_o sum_n of_o five_o pound_n of_o lawful_a money_n of_o england_n the_o one_o moiety_n thereof_o to_o the_o king_n and_o the_o other_o moiety_n to_o he_o that_o will_v sue_v for_o the_o same_o in_o any_o of_o the_o king_n court_n of_o record_n as_o be_v aforesaid_a and_o if_o any_o person_n be_v at_o any_o time_n sue_v for_o put_v in_o execution_n any_o of_o the_o power_n contain_v in_o this_o act_n cost_v person_n sue_v for_o execute_v this_o act_n may_v plead_v the_o general_n issue_n and_o recover_v treble_a cost_v such_o person_n shall_v and_o may_v plead_v the_o general_a issue_n and_o give_v the_o special_a matter_n in_o evidence_n and_o if_o the_o plaintiff_n be_v nonsuit_n or_o a_o verdict_n pass_v for_o the_o defendant_n thereupon_o or_o england_n dominion_n of_o wales_n and_o town_n of_o berwick_n upon_o tweed_n without_o the_o special_a licence_n of_o his_o majesty_n his_o heir_n and_o successor_n in_o that_o behalf_n first_o have_v and_o obtain_v that_o the_o party_n so_o escape_v or_o return_v shall_v be_v adjudge_v a_o felon_n and_o shall_v suffer_v death_n as_o in_o case_n of_o felony_n without_o benefit_n of_o clergy_n and_o shall_v forfeit_v and_o lose_v to_o his_o majesty_n all_o his_o or_o her_o good_n and_o chattel_n for_o ever_o and_o shall_v further_o lose_v to_o his_o majesty_n all_o his_o or_o her_o land_n tenement_n and_o hereditament_n for_o and_o during_o the_o life_n only_o of_o such_o offender_n and_o no_o long_o and_o that_o the_o wife_n of_o any_o such_o offender_n by_o force_n of_o this_o act_n shall_v not_o lose_v her_o dower_n nor_o shall_v any_o corruption_n of_o blood_n grow_v or_o be_v by_o reason_n of_o any_o such_o offence_n mention_v in_o this_o act_n but_o that_o the_o heir_n of_o every_o such_o offender_n by_o force_n of_o this_o act_n shall_v and_o may_v after_o the_o death_n of_o such_o offender_n have_v and_o enjoy_v the_o land_n tenement_n and_o hereditament_n of_o such_o offender_n as_o if_o this_o act_n have_v not_o be_v make_v conventicle_n seditious_a and_o tumultuous_a meeting_n and_o conventicle_n and_o for_o better_a prevent_v of_o the_o mischief_n which_o may_v grow_v by_o such_o seditious_a and_o tumultuous_a meeting_n under_o pretence_n of_o religious_a worship_n be_v it_o further_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o the_o lieutenant_n or_o deputy-lieutenant_n or_o any_o commissioned_n officer_n of_o the_o militia_n or_o any_o other_o of_o his_o majesty_n force_n with_o such_o troop_n or_o company_n of_o horse_n or_o foot_n and_o also_o the_o sheriff_n and_o justice_n of_o peace_n and_o other_o magistrate_n and_o minister_n of_o justice_n or_o any_o of_o they_o joint_o or_o several_o within_o any_o of_o the_o county_n or_o place_n within_o this_o kingdom_n of_o england_n dominion_n of_o wales_n or_o town_n of_o berwick_n upon_o tweed_n with_o such_o other_o assistance_n as_o they_o shall_v think_v meet_a or_o can_v get_v in_o readiness_n with_o the_o soon_o on_o certificate_n make_v to_o they_o respective_o under_o the_o hand_n and_o seal_v of_o any_o one_o justice_n of_o the_o peace_n or_o chief_a magistrate_n as_o aforesaid_a of_o his_o particular_a information_n or_o knowledge_n of_o such_o unlawful_a meeting_n or_o conventicle_n hold_v or_o to_o be_v hold_v in_o their_o respective_a county_n or_o place_n and_o that_o he_o with_o such_o assistance_n as_o he_o can_v get_v together_o be_v not_o able_a to_o suppress_v or_o dissolve_v the_o same_o shall_v and_o may_v and_o be_v hereby_o require_v and_o enjoin_v to_o repair_v unto_o the_o place_n where_o they_o be_v so_o hold_v or_o to_o be_v hold_v and_o by_o the_o best_a mean_n they_o can_v to_o dissolve_v and_o dissipate_v or_o prevent_v all_o such_o unlawful_a meeting_n and_o take_v into_o their_o custody_n such_o of_o those_o person_n so_o unlawful_o assemble_v as_o they_o shall_v judge_v to_o be_v the_o leader_n and_o seducer_n of_o the_o rest_n and_o such_o other_o as_o they_o shall_v think_v fit_a to_o be_v proceed_v against_o according_a to_o law_n for_o such_o their_o offence_n house_n the_o penalty_n of_o suffer_a conventicle_n in_o private_a house_n and_o be_v it_o enact_v by_o the_o authority_n aforesaid_a that_o every_o person_n who_o shall_v witting_o and_o willing_o suffer_v any_o such_o conventicle_n unlawful_a assembly_n or_o meet_v aforesaid_a to_o be_v hold_v in_o his_o or_o her_o house_n outhouse_n barn_n or_o room_n yard_n or_o backside_n wood_n or_o ground_n shall_v incur_v the_o same_o penalty_n and_o forfeiture_n as_o any_o other_o offender_n against_o this_o act_n ought_v to_o incur_v and_o be_v proceed_v against_o in_o all_o point_n in_o such_o manner_n as_o any_o other_o offender_n against_o this_o act_n ought_v to_o be_v proceed_v against_o large_a gaoler_n may_v not_o let_v priso-committed_n upon_o this_o act_n to_o go_v at_o large_a provide_v also_o and_o be_v it_o offence_n against_o this_o act_n to_o go_v at_o large_a contrary_a to_o the_o warrant_n of_o his_o commitment_n according_a to_o this_o act_n or_o shall_v permit_v any_o person_n who_o be_v at_o large_a to_o join_v with_o any_o person_n commit_v to_o his_o custody_n by_o virtue_n of_o
major_a part_n of_o the_o adventurer_n or_o owner_n then_o present_a shall_v judge_v reasonable_a not_o exceed_a the_o value_n of_o two_o per_fw-la cent_n of_o the_o ship_n and_o good_n so_o defend_v the_o say_a way_n passage_n new_a river_n cutts_n dreyn_n bank_n and_o forelands_n over_o and_o above_o the_o say_v ten_o thousand_o acre_n residue_n of_o the_o say_v twelve_o thousand_o acre_n which_o be_v allot_v in_o severalty_n and_o of_o which_o his_o say_a late_a majesty_n be_v in_o possession_n as_o aforesaid_a be_v hereby_o vest_v and_o settle_v in_o the_o say_a governor_n bailiff_n of_o bedford_n and_o the_o adventure_n and_o participant_n of_o the_o say_a earl_n francis_n and_o earl_n william_n or_o either_o of_o they_o trust_n
