be_v that_o he_o afflict_v we_o and_o beat_v we_o with_o his_o rod_n if_o we_o grudge_v and_o can_v not_o be_v patient_a when_o god_n do_v so_o chastise_v we_o be_v it_o not_o a_o extreme_a not_o plead_v against_o he_o for_o we_o shall_v always_o have_v the_o worse_a end_n of_o the_o staff_n and_o out_o of_o doubt_n that_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o the_o holy_a scripture_n say_v that_o god_n not_o only_o draw_v we_o out_o of_o dearth_n nor_o only_o deliver_v we_o from_o war_n but_o also_o that_o in_o what_o trouble_n soever_o we_o be_v we_o shall_v find_v that_o he_o have_v the_o issue_n of_o it_o in_o his_o hand_n according_a as_o it_o be_v say_v that_o he_o have_v the_o issue_n or_o outgoing_n of_o death_n in_o his_o hand_n and_o this_o be_v a_o right_n necessary_a point_n for_o we_o see_v what_o the_o superstition_n of_o man_n be_v that_o be_v too_o wit_n that_o they_o distribute_v god_n office_n unto_o other_o because_o that_o too_o their_o seem_n they_o can_v not_o find_v remedy_n for_o all_o inconvenience_n if_o they_o shall_v resort_v all_o too_o one_o place_n here_o you_o see_v why_o the_o papist_n make_v one_o saint_n or_o two_o or_o three_o or_o four_o too_o have_v the_o charge_n of_o ague_n another_o too_o have_v the_o keep_n of_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o a_o third_o too_o have_v rule_n of_o such_o a_o disease_n and_o why_o be_v it_o for_o they_o imagine_v that_o if_o they_o shall_v resort_v unto_o god_n when_o they_o have_v the_o ague_n or_o if_o they_o shall_v come_v to_o he_o for_o help_v when_o they_o have_v the_o dropsy_n he_o be_v not_o able_a too_o intend_v too_o so_o many_o thing_n at_o once_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v better_a that_o each_o several_a office_n be_v commit_v too_o a_o several_a saint_n or_o else_o to_o two_o or_o three_o of_o they_o and_o so_o consequent_o that_o the_o like_a shall_v be_v do_v too_o this_o saint_n and_o that_o saint_n behold_v how_o man_n tear_v god_n majesty_n in_o piece_n by_o their_o devilish_a superstition_n when_o they_o rob_v he_o after_o that_o sort_n of_o his_o operation_n and_o put_v it_o over_o too_o his_o creature_n also_o let_v we_o mark_v well_o this_o doctrine_n wherein_o it_o be_v declare_v unto_o we_o that_o if_o god_n keep_v we_o from_o the_o plague_n he_o will_v also_o keep_v we_o from_o the_o sword_n so_o as_o man_n need_v not_o too_o go_v distribute_v his_o office_n to_o this_o man_n or_o that_o for_o let_v we_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o he_o will_v be_v our_o saviour_n not_o only_o in_o part_n but_o also_o throughout_o in_o all_o thing_n therefore_o let_v we_o bold_o have_v our_o recourse_n unto_o he_o not_o only_o in_o one_o kind_n of_o adversity_n but_o in_o as_o many_o as_o shall_v come_v upon_o we_o assure_v ourselves_o above_o the_o understanding_n and_o opinion_n of_o the_o flesh_n but_o by_o the_o way_n we_o be_v here_o new_a again_o warn_v too_o prepare_v ourselves_o to_o patience_n not_o only_o for_o some_o one_o kind_n of_o adversity_n but_o for_o all_o that_o ever_o can_v betide_v we_o according_a as_o we_o see_v how_o man_n be_v bear_v too_o diverse_a affliction_n and_o i_o say_v this_o because_o that_o such_o as_o be_v strong_a enough_o too_o endure_v some_o one_o adversity_n will_v immediate_o be_v overcome_v of_o some_o other_o temptation_n as_o for_o example_n a_o man_n shall_v find_v some_o that_o can_v endure_v poverty_n and_o yet_o one_o sickness_n will_v carry_v they_o away_o in_o such_o sort_n as_o they_o shall_v fret_v against_o god_n and_o there_o shall_v be_v no_o mean_a to_o appease_v they_o other_o some_o can_v well_o away_o with_o sickness_n or_o with_o this_o thing_n or_o that_o but_o if_o a_o man_n do_v they_o any_o wrong_n or_o injury_n or_o if_o a_o man_n go_v about_o too_o deface_v they_o in_o that_o case_n they_o have_v lose_v all_o their_o patience_n then_o may_v there_o now_o and_o then_o be_v a_o appearance_n of_o virtue_n in_o a_o man_n as_o in_o respect_n of_o some_o one_o kind_n of_o temptation_n but_o in_o some_o other_o he_o shall_v fail_v for_o this_o cause_n it_o behove_v we_o too_o mark_v well_o what_o be_v contain_v in_o this_o all_o those_o thing_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o his_o faithful_a one_o which_o be_v now_o write_v yea_o and_o god_n even_o yet_o still_o at_o this_o day_n make_v we_o to_o feel_v the_o same_o in_o our_o heart_n and_o
no_o further_a knowledge_n but_o of_o our_o sin_n and_o of_o god_n justice_n we_o must_v be_v fain_o too_o rest_v there_o so_o then_o we_o must_v not_o think_v it_o strange_a that_o job_n speak_v of_o he_o know_v that_o if_o man_n be_v consider_v in_o themselves_o it_o be_v their_o very_a nature_n to_o have_v nothing_o else_o but_o all_o manner_n of_o confusion_n both_o in_o their_o life_n and_o be_v as_o burn_a cressette_n too_o we_o and_o we_o have_v the_o gospel_n which_o be_v yet_o a_o far_o great_a light_n yea_o even_o as_o it_o be_v the_o light_n of_o high_a noon_n you_o see_v then_o how_o our_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n will_v be_v a_o sufficient_a light_n for_o we_o both_o in_o life_n and_o death_n so_o we_o look_v unto_o he_o but_o as_o i_o have_v touch_v heretofore_o we_o must_v first_o feel_v what_o disorder_n and_o confusion_n environ_v we_o round_o about_o until_o such_o time_n as_o jesus_n christ_n have_v reach_v we_o his_o hand_n furthermore_o when_o jesus_n christ_n have_v enlighten_v we_o so_o as_o we_o shall_v have_v walk_v in_o hope_n of_o the_o everlasting_a life_n while_o we_o be_v in_o this_o world_n although_o god_n take_v we_o hence_o and_o death_n before_o our_o eye_n yet_o let_v we_o not_o therefore_o cease_v to_o call_v upon_o god_n and_o to_o tarry_v his_o leisure_n till_o he_o comfort_v our_o soul_n in_o his_o own_o kingdom_n for_o they_o be_v always_o incomber_v and_o have_v not_o their_o perfect_a joy_n so_o long_o as_o they_o dwell_v in_o our_o body_n and_o till_o that_o god_n take_v they_o up_o to_o himself_o for_o a_o do_v true_a it_o be_v that_o if_o we_o think_v upon_o death_n alone_o by_o itself_o without_o lift_v up_o ourselves_o any_o high_a god_n may_v now_o and_o then_o bring_v we_o to_o the_o same_o point_n that_o he_o bring_v job._n job_n have_v both_o faith_n and_o hope_n of_o the_o everlasting_a life_n and_o yet_o for_o a_o little_a while_o he_o be_v overraught_v with_o such_o a_o fear_n as_o he_o conceive_v nothing_o else_o in_o death_n but_o all_o confusion_n and_o disorder_n for_o when_o he_o look_v to_o his_o grave_n he_o see_v hell_n open_a to_o swallow_v he_o up_o and_o the_o have_v of_o such_o for_o if_o man_n offer_v themselves_o to_o god_n and_o suffer_v he_o to_o govern_v they_o he_o will_v stretch_v out_o his_o hand_n to_o maintain_v they_o in_o their_o state_n he_o will_v always_o uphold_v they_o by_o his_o power_n and_o he_o will_v be_v a_o shield_n and_o defence_n to_o they_o against_o all_o evil_a adventure_n but_o if_o man_n will_v needs_o fly_v too_o high_a god_n must_v needs_o stop_v they_o so_o then_o must_v not_o every_o of_o we_o needs_o crouch_v when_o we_o see_v that_o god_n smite_v whole_a nation_n after_o that_o sort_n but_o first_o of_o all_o it_o stand_v we_o in_o hand_n to_o be_v thorough_o persuade_v of_o that_o which_o be_v contain_v here_o for_o how_o shall_v we_o else_o take_v instruction_n by_o that_o which_o i_o have_v lay_v forth_o let_v we_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o when_o the_o lord_n shall_v have_v multiply_v a_o people_n he_o can_v well_o diminish_v they_o again_o to_o less_o than_o nothing_o and_o when_o there_o happen_v any_o great_a alteration_n in_o a_o realm_n let_v we_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o the_o same_o come_v not_o to_o pass_v by_o hap_n hazard_n but_o that_o god_n be_v the_o worker_n of_o it_o therefore_o we_o must_v be_v thorough_o resolve_v of_o those_o two_o thing_n true_a it_o be_v that_o we_o may_v well_o talk_v of_o they_o but_o that_o shall_v never_o be_v in_o good_a earnest_n till_o we_o have_v well_o study_v this_o lesson_n and_o that_o every_o of_o we_o be_v well_o practise_v in_o they_o in_o such_o wise_a as_o the_o same_o may_v never_o be_v blot_v out_o of_o our_o remembrance_n let_v we_o assure_v ourselves_o that_o how_o soever_o the_o world_n go_v god_n rule_v all_o thing_n in_o such_o wise_a as_o we_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v so_o witless_a as_o too_o father_n any_o thing_n upon_o fortune_n that_o say_v i_o be_v the_o point_n whereat_o we_o ought_v to_o begin_v namely_o at_o the_o have_v of_o the_o full_a assuredness_n of_o god_n providence_n and_o then_o apply_v the_o when_o the_o holy_a scripture_n speak_v too_o we_o of_o god_n providence_n the_o intent_n of_o it_o be_v that_o thereby_o we_o shall_v know_v his_o mighty_a power_n and_o in_o what_o wise_n know_v confusion_n in_o the_o world_n as_o will_v grieve_v a_o man_n heart_n but_o we_o see_v also_o how_o wickedness_n be_v become_v like_o a_o flow_a flood_n you_o see_v a_o country_n far_o out_o of_o square_n in_o great_a and_o outrageous_a vice_n and_o god_n scourge_v follow_v by_o and_o by_o that_o be_v too_o say_v within_o a_o while_n after_o must_v we_o not_o needs_o in_o that_o case_n acknowledge_v god_n too_o be_v a_o righteous_a judge_n and_o we_o may_v just_o condemn_v they_o that_o perish_v but_o have_v we_o once_o condemn_v they_o then_o must_v we_o streytwaye_v come_v too_o ourselves_o for_o the_o principal_a point_n be_v for_o we_o too_o profit_v ourselves_o by_o other_o man_n cost_n when_o god_n do_v we_o the_o pleasure_n to_o warn_v we_o aforehand_o to_o the_o end_n that_o every_o of_o we_o shall_v come_v home_o again_o you_o see_v then_o after_o what_o sort_n we_o may_v fare_v the_o better_a by_o god_n providence_n according_a as_o it_o be_v show_v we_o in_o this_o strain_n but_o it_o be_v say_v immediate_o that_o god_n bring_v the_o darkness_n into_o light_n yea_o even_o the_o darkness_n hat_n be_v as_o dark_a as_o death_n that_o be_v to_o say_v which_o be_v as_o the_o darkness_n of_o hell_n the_o same_o will_v he_o bring_v to_o light_v when_o he_o ly_v here_o job_n expresserh_n what_o his_o mean_a be_v namely_o to_o rehearse_v unto_o we_o those_o work_n of_o god_n which_o be_v most_o famous_a for_o if_o he_o shall_v speak_v of_o common_a and_o ordinary_a work_n we_o will_v be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o sleep_v and_o it_o will_v not_o touch_v we_o a_o whit_n as_o i_o have_v declare_v already_o therefore_o we_o must_v be_v warn_v in_o such_o sort_n as_o our_o wit_n may_v be_v astonish_v at_o it_o yea_o and_o as_o we_o may_v be_v quicken_v up_o how_o lazy_a or_o dullminded_a so_o ever_o we_o be_v thus_o you_o see_v what_o job_n mean_v by_o say_v that_o god_n will_v bring_v the_o darkness_n of_o death_n unto_o light_n he_o may_v well_o have_v say_v god_n make_v his_o sun_n to_o shine_v every_o day_n we_o see_v how_o the_o night_n have_v his_o course_n &_o the_o day_n succeed_v lo_o here_o be_v a_o great_a and_o wonderful_a change_n job_n may_v have_v speak_v so_o but_o forasmuch_o as_o that_o be_v a_o ordinary_a thing_n among_o we_o we_o pass_v not_o of_o it_o therefore_o he_o intend_v to_o touch_v the_o extraordinary_a thing_n as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v god_n make_v such_o alteration_n as_o if_o hell_n be_v advance_v up_o aloft_o or_o as_o if_o death_n be_v set_v up_o on_o high_a for_o man_n to_o behold_v now_o when_o darkness_n change_v so_o into_o light_n it_o be_v a_o strange_a fashion_n and_o such_o a_o one_o as_o never_o be_v look_v for_o but_o thereby_o god_n waken_v we_o up_o and_o give_v we_o cause_v too_o countenance_n of_o approach_v unto_o god_n howbeit_o that_o the_o same_o be_v not_o in_o truth_n therefore_o although_o they_o be_v puff_v up_o with_o fond_a misween_n yet_o be_v they_o never_o the_o that_o if_o god_n demand_v any_o thing_n more_o at_o their_o hand_n he_o do_v but_o press_v they_o to_o much_o and_o that_o they_o be_v so_o far_o from_o be_v indebt_v unto_o he_o that_o to_o their_o seem_n he_o be_v behold_v unto_o they_o you_o see_v then_o how_o the_o hypocrite_n flash_v out_o fire_n and_o flame_n in_o such_o sort_n as_o it_o shall_v seem_v they_o will_v run_v upon_o god_n but_o why_o be_v that_o because_o they_o think_v not_o of_o he_o nor_o have_v any_o lively_a feel_n of_o he_o in_o their_o conscience_n too_o be_v short_a a_o man_n shall_v never_o come_v too_o god_n with_o a_o good_a heart_n and_o with_o a_o pure_a and_o free_a affection_n except_o he_o honour_v he_o and_o in_o honour_v fear_v he_o and_o in_o fear_v trust_n in_o he_o all_o these_o thing_n say_v i_o must_v be_v in_o a_o man_n heart_n before_o he_o can_v ever_o come_v unto_o god_n and_o have_v any_o acquaintance_n with_o he_o the_o first_o point_n i_o say_v be_v to_o honour_n god_n that_o be_v to_o say_v to_o know_v what_o his_o majesty_n be_v and_o that_o it_o become_v we_o to_o yield_v ourselves_o whole_o thereunto_o to_o do_v he_o homage_n until_o we_o have_v conceive_v this_o majesty_n of_o god_n which_o be_v above_o we_o we_o shall_v never_o be_v desirous_a to_o come_v unto_o he_o fear_v must_v also_o be_v match_v therewithal_o that_o be_v to_o say_v after_o we_o have_v grant_v such_o as_o be_v despise_v of_o the_o whole_a world_n for_o undoubted_o these_o also_o be_v the_o party_n which_o be_v special_o recommend_v unto_o we_o of_o god_n as_o for_o they_o that_o have_v the_o mean_n too_o recompense_v the_o good_a turn_n which_o they_o shall_v have_v receive_v they_o recommend_v themselves_o but_o when_o a_o poor_a man_n be_v destitute_a of_o all_o favour_n and_o have_v neither_o kinsfolk_n nor_o friend_n nor_o good_n nor_o authority_n on_o his_o side_n if_o we_o succour_v he_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n that_o we_o look_v rightfoorth_o unto_o god_n and_o if_o we_o do_v not_o it_o be_v a_o token_n that_o there_o be_v no_o charity_n in_o we_o and_o true_o forasmuch_o as_o every_o one_o of_o we_o be_v so_o wed_v to_o his_o own_o profit_n therefore_o do_v our_o neither_o make_v he_o any_o brag_n to_o get_v himself_o estimation_n but_o rather_o in_o his_o person_n the_o holy_a ghost_n show_v we_o what_o be_v to_o be_v esteem_v namely_o not_o that_o which_o appear_v outward_o &_o have_v the_o fair_a gloss_n afore_o man_n for_o that_o oftentimes_o shall_v be_v but_o abomination_n before_o god_n what_o then_o when_o a_o man_n walk_v as_o have_v none_o other_o record_n but_o god_n so_o as_o all_o his_o do_n be_v level_v at_o that_o mark_n to_o say_v my_o god_n have_v command_v it_o i_o it_o be_v the_o thing_n wherein_o he_o will_v try_v i_o it_o be_v the_o thing_n whereunto_o he_o task_v i_o when_o a_o man_n walk_v by_o that_o rule_n it_o be_v all_o one_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v banish_v all_o worldly_a respect_n too_o gather_v himself_o unto_o god_n and_o even_o so_o also_o must_v we_o do_v let_v we_o seek_v none_o other_o allowance_n but_o of_o god_n and_o let_v that_o suffice_v and_o content_v we_o &_o let_v we_o not_o be_v turn_v
