resurrection_n whereby_o we_o may_v be_v more_o and_o more_o enable_v to_o walk_v in_o newness_n of_o life_n for_o as_o our_o regeneration_n have_v two_o part_n a_o die_a unto_o sin_n and_o rise_v to_o newness_n of_o life_n so_o have_v these_o two_o spring_n christ_n death_n and_o his_o resurrection_n verse_n 4._o to_o a_o inheritance_n incorruptible_a and_o undefiled_a and_o that_o fare_v not_o away_o reserve_v in_o heaven_n for_o you_o here_o he_o explain_v what_o we_o be_v call_v to_o namely_o the_o lively_a hope_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o heaven_n inheritance_n which_o as_o it_o be_v here_o term_v a_o inheritance_n so_o be_v it_o in_o the_o next_o verse_n salvation_n this_o be_v call_v a_o inheritance_n to_o show_v we_o the_o nature_n of_o it_o be_v also_o describe_v by_o sundry_a property_n under_o divers-phrase_n as_o if_o no_o word_n can_v sufficient_o express_v the_o same_o those_o show_v the_o perpetuity_n and_o purity_n thereof_o as_o also_o how_o we_o shall_v come_v by_o it_o it_o be_v reserve_v for_o we_o but_o where_o in_o heaven_n where_o it_o be_v out_o of_o danger_n but_o how_o shall_v we_o come_v to_o it_o be_v here_o on_o earth_n among_o many_o danger_n we_o be_v keep_v for_o it_o and_o that_o by_o a_o mighty_a hand_n even_o the_o power_n of_o god_n by_o the_o mean_a of_o faith_n keep_v i_o say_v unto_o this_o salvation_n prepare_v long_o ago_o and_o which_o shall_v be_v show_v we_o in_o the_o fullness_n of_o it_o even_o at_o christ_n second_o come_v a_o inheritance_n therefore_o no_o purchase_n no_o wage_n of_o a_o servant_n but_o a_o inheritance_n give_v by_o a_o father_n to_o his_o son_n not_o such_o as_o many_o heir_n have_v entail_v or_o as_o any_o natural_a son_n which_o have_v it_o by_o a_o kind_n of_o right_n after_o his_o father_n 32_o but_o a_o inheritance_n of_o adopt_a child_n 32._o take_v in_o as_o the_o child_n of_o a_o traitor_n 23._o nay_o a_o traitor_n himself_o and_o so_o make_v heir_n than_o which_o what_o can_v be_v free_a this_o be_v say_v to_o be_v give_v and_o what_o be_v free_a than_o gift_n this_o serve_v to_o confute_v not_o only_o the_o gross_a opinion_n of_o papist_n use._n that_o we_o god_n set_v we_o forward_o and_o help_v we_o can_v do_v such_o thing_n as_o whereby_o we_o can_v merit_v heaven_n and_o salvation_n but_o that_o which_o be_v more_o nice_a be_v of_o those_o which_o say_v that_o we_o have_v no_o good_a of_o ourselves_o but_o that_o it_o be_v wrought_v in_o we_o by_o god_n alone_o yet_o now_o look_v for_o salvation_n by_o their_o holiness_n and_o sanctification_n no_o god_n forbid_v for_o our_o sanctification_n be_v imperfect_a god_n may_v just_o condemn_v we_o for_o it_o and_o count_v our_o work_n a_o pollute_v of_o his_o grace_n 2._o therefore_o david_n say_v no_o flesh_n before_o nor_o after_o grace_n can_v be_v justify_v in_o thy_o sight_n 20._o not_o only_o by_o nothing_o of_o our_o own_o 11._o but_o by_o nothing_o that_o god_n work_v in_o we_o what_o the_o person_n sake_n that_o be_v in_o his_o favour_n by_o jesus_n christ_n who_o perfect_a righteousness_n be_v impute_v to_o make_v a_o supply_n of_o our_o imperfection_n and_o want_n see_v therefore_o it_o be_v a_o inheritance_n every_o way_n free_a bestow_v upon_o we_o only_o by_o right_a of_o adoption_n in_o jesus_n christ_n which_o by_o his_o grace_n he_o have_v call_v we_o unto_o let_v we_o so_o acknowledge_v it_o to_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o like_o adopt_a child_n love_v our_o father_n fear_v he_o be_v zealous_a for_o his_o glory_n and_o take_v his_o part_n the_o mede_n and_o persian_n these_o thing_n below_o be_v the_o meat_n that_o perish_v uncertain_a riches_n a_o treasure_n which_o moth_n and_o canker_n corrupt_v and_o whereto_o thief_n may_v break_v in_o and_o steal_v whereof_o
it_o be_v not_o see_v with_o the_o bodily_a eye_n man_n labour_n and_o strive_v to_o get_v up_o aloft_o here_o to_o fetch_v their_o nest_n on_o high_a from_o which_o yet_o they_o may_v come_v down_o quick_o as_o many_o do_v and_o must_v do_v at_o their_o death_n but_o how_o few_o labour_n to_o get_v up_o to_o this_o height_n of_o glory_n in_o heaven_n in_o heaven_n hereby_o our_o apostle_n meet_v with_o jew_n and_o seek_v to_o cure_v a_o gross_a imagination_n of_o the_o jew_n which_o dream_v of_o a_o earthly_a potentate_n and_o think_v christ_n shall_v come_v and_o deliver_v they_o from_o the_o roman_n see_v it_o in_o the_o two_o son_n of_o zebedeus_n 21._o yea_o after_o three_o year_n teach_v of_o christ_n 6._o after_o his_o death_n and_o resurrection_n they_o be_v not_o free_a of_o this_o conceit_n our_o saviour_n use_v to_o call_v their_o mind_n from_o this_o to_o heaven_n can_v you_o drink_v of_o the_o cup_n that_o i_o drink_v of_o say_v he_o and_o i_o come_v to_o serve_v and_o not_o to_o be_v serve_v so_o peter_n draw_v they_o to_o look_v for_o their_o glory_n in_o heaven_n we_o must_v not_o therefore_o look_v for_o a_o happy_a estate_n here_o below_o but_o in_o heaven_n here_o the_o cross_n there_o the_o crown_n here_o the_o battle_n there_o the_o victory_n the_o crown_n of_o thorn_n here_o the_o crown_n of_o glory_n hereafter_o many_o will_v follow_v christ_n and_o the_o gospel_n if_o there_o come_v any_o preferment_n by_o he_o 20._o that_o now_o do_v not_o so_o will_v the_o young_a rich_a man_n but_o god_n child_n will_v serve_v he_o though_o they_o undergo_v trouble_n here_o for_o the_o glorious_a inheritance_n hereafter_o reserve_v for_o we_o in_o heaven_n this_n meet_v with_o a_o objection_n that_o these_o christian_n may_v make_v objection_n alas_o come_v to_o this_o inheritance_n it_o be_v happy_a indeed_o if_o we_o can_v but_o what_o hope_v of_o it_o alas_o we_o be_v toss_v up_o and_o down_o strip_v of_o all_o our_o good_n and_o persecute_v we_o be_v so_o far_o from_o hope_n to_o obtain_v this_o eternal_a inheritance_n that_o we_o can_v keep_v these_o earthly_a one_o which_o we_o have_v he_o answer_v this_o be_v safe_o reserve_v for_o we_o and_o be_v out_o of_o danger_n to_o be_v lose_v and_o though_o they_o lose_v their_o earthly_a inheritance_n they_o be_v but_o uncertain_a and_o transitory_a thing_n whereof_o god_n never_o promise_v that_o they_o shall_v be_v other_o but_o this_o be_v eternal_a whereof_o they_o shall_v be_v most_o sure_o 34._o for_o have_v the_o father_n prepare_v this_o inheritance_n ere_o the_o world_n be_v and_o choose_v we_o unto_o it_o have_v the_o son_n purchase_v it_o for_o we_o when_o we_o have_v lose_v it_o heaven_n have_v the_o holy_a ghost_n assure_v we_o of_o it_o and_o oh_o no_o it_o be_v reserve_v for_o we_o in_o heaven_n where_o no_o devil_n can_v come_v nor_o wicked_a man_n to_o take_v it_o from_o we_o let_v this_o be_v a_o comfort_n to_o all_o the_o faithful_a servant_n of_o god_n that_o be_v justify_v and_o sanctify_v use._n to_o sweeten_v all_o their_o affliction_n here_o below_o that_o they_o may_v be_v as_o sure_a of_o heaven_n in_o the_o end_n without_o fail_n as_o if_o they_o have_v it_o already_o many_o child_n lose_v their_o temporal_a inheritance_n for_o want_v of_o good_a guardian_n and_o keeper_n they_o be_v often_o waste_v and_o go_v ere_o they_o come_v to_o year_n or_o be_v suffer_v to_o be_v recover_v from_o they_o by_o some_o other_o but_o the_o lord_n be_v a_o faithful_a keeper_n we_o be_v yet_o under_o age_n when_o we_o shall_v come_v to_o age_n and_o die_v the_o father_n that_o keep_v it_o for_o we_o will_v bestow_v it_o on_o we_o christ_n jesus_n our_o head_n and_o elder_a brother_n he_o have_v take_v possession_n of_o it_o for_o we_o and_o tell_v we_o that_o where_o he_o be_v there_o shall_v we_o be_v but_o if_o we_o say_v we_o have_v many_o ill_a willer_n there_o can_v none_o come_v into_o heaven_n but_o our_o friend_n the_o devil_n our_o deadly_a adversary_n he_o come_v not_o there_o though_o he_o do_v into_o the_o earthly_a paradise_n and_o for_o the_o wicked_a though_o they_o hare_n god_n child_n so_o as_o they_o can_v wish_v that_o as_o they_o take_v away_o their_o earthly_a inheritance_n so_o they_o shall_v never_o be_v happy_a if_o they_o can_v help_v it_o its_o past_a their_o power_n to_o deprive_v they_o hereof_o they_o shall_v go_v to_o heaven_n do_v what_o they_o can_v yea_o oftentimes_o they_o help_v they_o soon_o thither_o then_o otherwise_o they_o shall_v be_v though_o no_o thank_v to_o they_o and_o at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n to_o the_o increase_n of_o their_o torment_n the_o godly_a shall_v be_v take_v up_o in_o their_o sight_n to_o heaven_n when_o themselves_o shall_v be_v thrust_v into_o that_o place_n of_o utter_a darkness_n to_o be_v torment_v with_o the_o devil_n and_o his_o angel_n for_o ever_o and_o ever_o hereof_o we_o have_v need_v to_o be_v thorough_o persuade_v else_o when_o great_a affliction_n come_v they_o will_v be_v ready_a to_o overwhelm_v we_o as_o it_o do_v almost_o befall_v both_o job_n and_o jeremiah_n oh_o the_o affliction_n of_o this_o present_a time_n be_v not_o worthy_a the_o glory_n that_o shall_v be_v reveal_v let_v the_o assurance_n of_o heaven_n keep_v we_o from_o wish_v we_o have_v never_o be_v whatsoever_o trouble_v we_o do_v here_o meet_v withal_o pray_v we_o still_o lord_n increase_v our_o faith_n but_o more_o of_o this_o hereafter_o for_o we_o namely_o comfort_n himself_o by_o the_o judgement_n of_o certainty_n and_o they_o by_o the_o judgement_n of_o charity_n here_o note_n that_o its_o a_o christian_n special_a comfort_n 20._o that_o he_o know_v and_o believe_v that_o this_o inheritance_n be_v for_o he_o in_o particular_a 25._o i_o know_v say_v job_n that_o my_o redeemer_n live_v 28._o my_o lord_n and_o my_o god_n say_v thomas_n this_o nature_n of_o faith_n be_v signify_v in_o the_o particular_a distribution_n of_o the_o sacrament_n to_o believe_v it_o in_o general_a afford_v no_o sound_a comfort_n it_o may_v indeed_o allure_v one_o for_o a_o while_n to_o the_o profession_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o hear_v that_o there_o be_v such_o excellent_a thing_n 6._o but_o it_o will_v not_o continue_v but_o will_v fail_v and_o fade_v away_o they_o that_o have_v no_o more_o but_o taste_v of_o the_o power_n of_o the_o world_n to_o come_v will_v assure_o fall_v quite_o away_o but_o a_o particular_a assurance_n be_v the_o mother_n of_o all_o comfort_n and_o the_o only_a foundation_n of_o a_o true_a good_a life_n and_o continuance_n therein_o unto_o the_o end_n the_o only_a prop_n and_o pillar_n to_o uphold_v we_o in_o trouble_n danger_n distress_n persecution_n and_o what_o not_o therefore_o labour_n for_o it_o use._n but_o this_o be_v presumption_n say_v the_o papist_n and_o to_o this_o purpose_n they_o abuse_v that_o of_o the_o preacher_n the_o righteous_a and_o the_o wise_a 1._o and_o their_o work_n be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n no_o man_n know_v either_o love_n or_o hatred_n by_o all_o that_o be_v before_o they_o but_o hereby_o be_v mean_v only_o that_o by_o these_o outward_a thing_n no_o man_n can_v conclude_v whether_o he_o be_v love_v or_o hate_v of_o god_n but_o that_o therefore_o we_o may_v not_o know_v at_o all_o it_o be_v most_o gross_a indeed_o if_o we_o tame_v we_o also_o a_o man_n that_o be_v conceit_v against_o his_o neighbour_n for_o small_a cause_n in_o prosperity_n in_o sickness_n and_o affliction_n will_v be_v glad_a to_o take_v every_o one_o this_o apparel_n we_o carry_v with_o we_o out_o of_o this_o world_n when_o we_o leave_v our_o gay_a robe_n behind_o we_o and_o this_o apparel_n last_v ever_o be_v the_o better_a for_o the_o wear_n 1._o this_o rebuke_v those_o 1_o that_o though_o they_o go_v plain_a enough_o outward_o reprove_v yet_o have_v no_o care_n of_o their_o soul_n their_o mind_n be_v altogether_o lead_v away_o with_o covetousness_n there_o be_v more_o way_n to_o hell_n then_o one_o even_o these_o shall_v no_o less_o perish_v than_o those_o which_o be_v whole_o addict_v to_o costly_a apparel_n also_o this_o will_v wear_v brave_a clothes_n which_o have_v no_o inward_a adorn_v they_o savour_v not_o of_o this_o they_o have_v no_o leisure_n for_o it_o it_o be_v the_o inside_n and_o so_o not_o see_v but_o god_n see_v it_o man_n also_o see_v it_o by_o the_o outward_a and_o it_o will_v be_v see_v and_o find_v naked_a when_o god_n shall_v come_v to_o judgement_n such_o though_o outward_o brave_a be_v inward_o base_a their_o soul_n be_v not_o only_o void_a of_o good_a but_o fill_v with_o all_o evil_a and_o noisome_a lust_n they_o be_v like_o a_o dead_a corpse_n stick_v with_o flower_n simil._n and_o like_o paint_a sepulcher_n yea_o like_o the_o heathen_a temple_n especial_o the_o egyptian_n who_o proche_n be_v curious_o carve_v paint_a and_o engrave_v with_o gold_n and_o all_o the_o bravery_n that_o may_v by_o but_o within_o nothing_o but_o the_o base_a picture_n of_o a_o cat_n crocodile_n or_o some_o ugly_a serpent_n how_o gorgeous_a soever_o they_o be_v outward_o they_o have_v not_o inward_o in_o their_o soul_n the_o image_n of_o god_n shine_v in_o spiritual_a grace_n but_o rather_o crocodile_n and_o ugly_a serpent_n even_o noisome_a and_o beastly_a lust_n and_o so_o be_v like_o a_o dunghill_n cover_v over_o with_o snow_n they_o want_v the_o inward_a beauty_n of_o grace_n to_o commend_v they_o set_v out_o themselves_o as_o gorgeous_o as_o they_o can_v in_o apparel_n as_o the_o painter_n servant_n simil._n who_o be_v set_v to_o make_v the_o picture_n of_o a_o very_a beautiful_a woman_n and_o want_v skill_n to_o make_v the_o face_n beautiful_a daub_v on_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o gold_n on_o her_o clothes_n those_o howsoever_o they_o please_v themselves_o herewith_o in_o their_o prosperity_n yet_o in_o sickness_n their_o deep_a ruff_n must_v be_v lay_v aside_o and_o all_o
