this_o cry_n unto_o god_n and_o this_o vehement_a desire_n which_o the_o mind_n before_o oppress_v with_o anguish_n and_o sorrow_n can_v scarce_o once_o feel_v it_o help_v a_o afflict_a conscience_n also_o very_o much_o as_o i_o have_v say_v to_o hear_v some_o faithful_a brother_n with_o comfortable_a exhortation_n &_o counsel_n out_o of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n say_v on_o this_o wise_a brother_n why_o be_v thou_o so_o heavy_a heart_a desperation_n do_v thou_o not_o hear_v that_o god_n will_v not_o the_o death_n of_o a_o sinner_n have_v thou_o forget_v that_o god_n command_v thou_o true_a service_n and_o worship_n of_o god_n what_o shall_v i_o say_v more_o david_n have_v not_o many_o fellow_n whether_o you_o consider_v his_o life_n and_o his_o faith_n or_o the_o witness_n pronounce_v of_o he_o by_o the_o lord_n himself_o and_o yet_o he_o notwithstanding_o so_o excellent_a and_o so_o holy_a a_o man_n be_v compel_v plain_o to_o confess_v his_o imperfection_n say_v if_o we_o as_o heretic_n be_v not_o this_o extreme_a malice_n they_o will_v not_o do_v themselves_o that_o they_o teach_v other_o to_o do_v for_o when_o death_n come_v they_o dare_v not_o trust_v to_o their_o own_o merit_n and_o yet_o will_v they_o force_v other_o so_o to_o do_v or_o most_o cruel_o condemn_v they_o for_o heretic_n thus_o we_o be_v teach_v by_o the_o experience_n of_o all_o such_o as_o be_v not_o utter_o void_a of_o understanding_n that_o no_o man_n live_v overcome_v by_o his_o own_o work_n or_o righteousness_n in_o god_n sight_n and_o yet_o the_o whole_a nature_n of_o man_n when_o it_o be_v not_o under_o tentation_n still_o look_v unto_o work_n and_o seek_v mean_n how_o it_o may_v by_o they_o please_v god_n but_o here_o be_v set_v forth_o unto_o we_o a_o simple_a and_o the_o more_o to_o esteem_v they_o when_o we_o have_v they_o and_o to_o be_v the_o more_o thankful_a to_o god_n for_o the_o same_o yet_o must_v we_o learn_v sure_o to_o trust_v and_o undoubted_o believe_v that_o they_o will_v come_v verse_n 3._o he_o will_v not_o suffer_v thy_o foot_n to_o slip_v for_o he_o that_o keep_v israel_n will_v not_o slumber_v this_o verse_n depend_v upon_o those_o even_o in_o our_o destruction_n as_o to_o we_o it_o seem_v god_n be_v present_a with_o we_o and_o in_o our_o death_n christ_n our_o king_n live_v in_o who_o sight_n our_o tribulation_n and_o affliction_n yea_o and_o death_n itself_o be_v altogether_o as_o you_o will_v say_v but_o one_o nothing_o and_o if_o we_o compare_v they_o unto_o god_n by_o the_o judgement_n of_o faith_n we_o shall_v feel_v they_o so_o to_o be_v in_o deed_n but_o who_o have_v sufficient_o learn_v thus_o to_o do_v somewhat_o we_o may_v say_v christian_n and_o teach_v other_o after_o a_o sort_n but_o use_v and_o experience_n with_o inward_a practice_n and_o feel_v be_v that_o which_o make_v a_o right_a divine_a and_o a_o true_a christian_a in_o deed_n so_o that_o he_o may_v be_v able_a bold_o to_o affirm_v and_o say_v with_o david_n he_o will_v not_o suffer_v thy_o foot_n to_o styppe_v that_o be_v to_o say_v he_o will_v not_o suffer_v thou_o to_o be_v utter_o overthrow_v and_o perish_v but_o the_o flesh_n say_v the_o contrary_a because_o it_o feel_v not_o only_o thy_o foot_n to_o slip_v but_o itself_o also_o to_o be_v tread_v under_o foot_n behold_v the_o son_n of_o god_n what_o he_o suffer_v lord_n will_v not_o suffer_v thy_o foot_n to_o slip_v but_o rather_o the_o contrary_a that_o he_o cause_v thy_o foot_n to_o slip_v albeit_o it_o do_v but_o seem_v so_o for_o he_o do_v not_o so_o in_o for_o if_o we_o do_v what_o need_v then_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o word_n what_o need_v exhortation_n what_o need_v the_o promise_n therefore_o we_o must_v turn_v the_o evil_a into_o good_a and_o where_o the_o flesh_n conclude_v that_o it_o be_v continual_o tread_v under_o foot_n there_o faith_n must_v confess_v and_o say_v that_o by_o the_o cross_n and_o by_o these_o affliction_n we_o be_v make_v like_o to_o the_o son_n of_o god_n &_o fashion_v like_o unto_o christ_n for_o these_o thing_n be_v to_o be_v believe_v as_o invisible_a and_o also_o insensible_a and_o not_o as_o thing_n to_o be_v see_v and_o feel_v but_o such_o as_o will_v not_o believe_v but_o follow_v their_o own_o sense_n and_o feel_v do_v rather_o choose_v the_o glory_n &_o pleasure_n of_o this_o world_n which_o so_o little_a while_n endure_v and_o so_o sudden_o vanish_v away_o but_o how_o miserable_a shall_v their_o condition_n be_v when_o after_o these_o transitory_a momentane_z and_o vain_a pleasure_n they_o shall_v find_v and_o feel_v nothing_o but_o anguish_n &_o torment_n with_o weep_v &_o wail_v for_o ever_o &_o without_o end_n how_o much_o better_o have_v it_o be_v for_o they_o to_o have_v suffer_v for_o a_o while_n with_o lazarus_n both_o sickness_n and_o poverty_n then_o for_o a_o little_a season_n to_o flourish_v with_o the_o rich_a glutton_n in_o wealth_n and_o prosperity_n &_o with_o he_o to_o be_v torment_v in_o everlasting_a fire_n this_o doctrine_n therefore_o pertain_v to_o those_o which_o desire_v to_o believe_v &_o not_o to_o feel_v that_o they_o may_v discern_v between_o god_n &_o their_o affliction_n not_o fix_v their_o eye_n upon_o the_o present_a calamity_n but_o look_v up_o to_o the_o invisible_a help_n promise_v in_o the_o word_n for_o those_o trouble_n &_o danger_n where_o unto_o the_o faithful_a be_v subject_a do_v in_o deed_n cause_v the_o foot_n to_o slip_v but_o yet_o so_o that_o faith_n will_v not_o suffer_v they_o to_o fall_v but_o make_v they_o able_a necessary_a that_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o comfort_n both_o ourselves_o
and_o our_o brethren_n when_o satan_n begin_v to_o rage_n when_o trouble_n arise_v when_o for_o the_o word_n sake_n we_o be_v hate_v spoil_v persecute_a and_o put_v to_o death_n in_o these_o danger_n whether_o shall_v we_o run_v calamity_n even_o this_o must_v be_v our_o refuge_n to_o say_v and_o confess_v that_o god_n be_v great_a than_o all_o our_o misery_n and_o albeit_o we_o perish_v or_o rather_o seem_v in_o our_o own_o sense_n so_o to_o do_v yet_o god_n perish_v not_o and_o therefore_o we_o must_v assure_o trust_v in_o his_o goodness_n mercy_n and_o power_n and_o the_o sense_n and_o feel_n of_o the_o spirit_n must_v be_v exalt_v as_o you_o will_v say_v above_o the_o feel_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o of_o our_o own_o heart_n thus_o they_o that_o will_v not_o do_v let_v they_o follow_v their_o own_o lust_n and_o pleasure_n and_o yet_o let_v they_o be_v sure_a that_o they_o shall_v drink_v up_o the_o dregs_n of_o the_o cup_n whereof_o the_o godly_a drink_n but_o a_o part_n as_o the_o prophet_n say_v 75._o notwithstanding_o many_o time_n the_o godly_a do_v find_v also_o temporal_a help_n and_o deliverance_n for_o god_n do_v not_o so_o neglect_v his_o servant_n that_o be_v horrible_o plague_v for_o their_o impiety_n the_o kingdom_n of_o the_o pope_n have_v flourish_v long_o and_o yet_o we_o see_v that_o much_o of_o his_o power_n wealth_n and_o riches_n be_v feeling_n and_o practice_n to_o make_v this_o distinction_n in_o his_o heart_n and_o say_v unto_o satan_n away_o from_o i_o satan_n with_o thy_o lie_n when_o i_o be_o void_a of_o the_o fear_n of_o god_n secure_a and_o hard_a heart_a then_o come_v and_o plead_v the_o law_n against_o i_o then_o will_v i_o hear_v thou_o for_o then_o that_o be_v the_o time_n to_o teach_v the_o law_n but_o since_o thou_o come_v now_o unto_o i_o with_o the_o law_n whereas_o my_o heart_n be_v terrify_v already_o with_o sin_n &_o death_n i_o will_v not_o hear_v thou_o for_o thy_o doctrine_n pertain_v not_o unto_o i_o but_o laughter_n and_o joy_n not_o terror_n and_o death_n so_o shall_v satan_n be_v answer_v when_o he_o go_v about_o to_o terrify_v we_o but_o by_o experience_n we_o feel_v that_o when_o most_o need_n be_v our_o heart_n be_v not_o able_a thus_o to_o answer_v although_o we_o have_v hear_v these_o thing_n before_o never_o so_o often_o the_o cause_n be_v this_o that_o albeit_o heaven_n be_v we_o gentile_n pertain_v to_o this_o redemption_n although_o it_o be_v not_o due_a unto_o we_o for_o to_o we_o it_o be_v not_o promise_v but_o come_v by_o the_o free_a mercy_n of_o god_n through_o this_o laughter_n and_o this_o joy_n which_o the_o prophet_n speak_v of_o publish_v and_o preach_v not_o only_o in_o simon_n but_o amongst_o the_o gentile_n also_o which_o do_v enjoy_v all_o the_o
