turned himself and went out from Pharaoh 7 And Pharaohs servants said unto him How long shall this man be a snare unto us Let the men go that they may serve the LORD their God Knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed 8 And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh and he said unto them Go serve the LORD your God but †Heb. who and who c. who are they that shall go 9 And Moses said We will go with our young and with our old with our sons and with our daughters with our flocks and with our herds will we go for we must hold a feast unto the LORD 10 And he said unto them Let the LORD be so with you as I will let you go and your little ones look to it for evil is before you 11 Not so go now ye that are men and serve the LORD for that you did desire And they were driven out from Pharaohs presence 12 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts that they may come up upon the land of Egypt and eat every herb of the land even all that the hail hath left 13 And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt and the LORD brought an east-wind upon the land all that day and all that night and when it was morning the east-wind brought the locusts 14 And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt and rested in all the coasts of Egypt very grievous were they before them there were no such locusts as they neither after them shall be such 15 For they covered the face of the whole earth so that the land was darkned and they did eat every herb of the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left and there remained not any green thing in the trees or in the herbs of the field through all the land of Egypt 16 ¶ Then Pharaoh †Heb. hastned to call called for Moses and Aaron in haste and he he said I have sinned against the LORD your God and against you 17 Now therefore forgive I pray thee my sin onely this once and intreat the LORD your God that he may take away from me this death onely 18 And he went out from Pharaoh and intreated the LORD 19 And the LORD turned a mighty strong west-wind which took away the locusts and †Heb. fastned cast them into the Red sea there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt 20 But the LORD hardned Pharaohs heart so that he would not let the children of Israel go 21 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses Stretch out thine hand toward heaven that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt †Heb. that one may feel darkness even darkness which may be felt 22 And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days 23 They saw not one another neither rose any from his place for three days * Wisd 18.1 but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings 24 ¶ And Pharaoh called unto Moses and said Go ye serve the LORD onely let your flocks and your herds be stayed let your little ones also go with you 25 And Moses said Thou must give †Heb. into our hands us also sacrifices and burnt-offerings that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God 26 Our cattel also shall go with us there shall not an hoof be left behinde for thereof must we take to serve the LORD our God and we know not with what we must serve the LORD until we come thither 27 ¶ But the LORD hardned Pharaohs heart and he would not let them go 28 And Pharaoh said unto him Get thee from me take heed to thy self see my face no more for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die 29 And Moses said Thou hast spoken well I will see thy face again no more CHAP. It is much for you Ye take too much upon you seeing all the congregation are holy everyone of them and the LORD is among them wherefore then lift you up your selves above the congregation of the LORD 4 And when Moses heard it he fell upon his face 5 And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company saying Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his and who is holy and will cause him to come near unto him even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him 6 This do take you censers Korah and all his company 7 And put fire therein and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose he shall be holy ye take too much upon you ye sons of Levi. 8 And Moses said unto Korah Hear I pray you ye sons of Levi 9 Seemeth it but a small thing unto you that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them 10 And he hath brought thee near to him and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee and seek ye the priesthood also 11 For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the LORD and what is Aaron that ye murmure against him 12 ¶ And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab which said We will not come up 13 Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness except thou make thy self altogether a prince over us 14 Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards wilt thou †Heb. here out put out the eyes of these men we will not come up 15 And Moses was very wroth and said unto the LORD * Gen. 4 4. Respect not thou their offering I have not taken one ass from them neither have I hurt one of them 16 And Moses said unto Korah Be thou and all thy company before the LORD thou and they and Aaron to morrow 17 And take every man his censer and put incense in them and bring ye before the LORD every man his censer two hundred and fifty censers thou also and Aaron each of you his censer 18 And they took every man his censer and put fire in them and said incense thereon and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron 19 And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation 20 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron saying 21 Separate your selves from among this congregation that I may consume them in a moment 22 And they fell upon their faces and said O God the God of the spirits of all flesh shall one man sin and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation 23 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 24 Speak unto the congregation saying Get you up from about the taberlacle of Korah Dathan and Abiram 25 And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram and the elders of Israel followed him 26 And he spake unto the congregation saying Depart I pray you from the tents of these wicked men and touch nothing of theirs lest ye be consumed in all their sins 27 So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah Dathan and Abiram on every side and Dathan and Abiram came out and stood in the door of their tents and their wives and their sons and their little children 28 And Moses said Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works for I have not done them of mine own minde 29 If these men die †Heb. as every man dieth the common death of all men or if they be visited after the visitation of all men then
Joseph getteth leave of Pharaoh to go to bury him 7 The funeral 15 Joseph comforteth his brethren who craved his pardon 22 His age 23 He seeth the third generation of his sons 24 He prophesieth unto his brethren of their return 25 He taketh an oath of them for his bones 26 He dieth and is chested AND Joseph fell upon his fathers face and wept upon him and kissed him 2 And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father and the physicians embalmed Israel 3 And fourty days were fulfilled for him for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed and the Egyptians †Heb. wept mourned for him threescore and ten days 4 And when the days of his mourning were pact Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh saying If now I have found grace in your eyes speak I pray yon in the ears of Pharaoh saying 5 * Ch. 47.29 My father made me swear saying Lo I die in my grave which I have digged for me in the land of Canaan there shalt thou bury me Now therefore let me go up I pray thee and bury my father and I will come again 6 And Pharaoh said Go up and bury thy father according as he made thee swear 7 ¶ And Joseph went up to bury his father and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh the elders of his house and all the elders of the land of Egypt 8 And all the house of Joseph and his brethren and his fathers house onely their little ones and their flocks and their herds they lest in the land of Goshen 9 And there went up with him both chariots and hors-men and it was a very great company 10 And they came to the threshing-floor of Atad which is beyond Jordan and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation and he made a mourning for his father seven days 11 And when the inhabitants of the land the Canaanites saw the mourning in the floor of Atad they said This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians wherefore the name of it was called ‖ That is the mourning of the Egyptians Abel-mizraim which is beyond Jordan 12 And his sons did unto him according as he commanded them 13 For * Act. 7.16 his sons carried him into the land of Canaan and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah which Abraham * Ch. 23.16 bought with the field for a possession of a burying-place of Ephron the Hittite before Mamre 14 ¶ And Joseph returned into Egypt he and his brethren and all that went up with him to bury his father after he had buried his father 15 ¶ And when Josephs brethren saw that their father was dead they said Joseph will peradventure hate us and will certainly repute us all the evil which we did unto him 16 And they †Heb. charged sent messengers unto Joseph saying Thy father did command before he died saying 17 So shall ye say unto Joseph Forgive I pray thee now the trespass of thy brethren and their sin for they did unto thee evil And now we pray thee forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father And Joseph wept when they spake unto him 18 And his brethren also went and tell down before his face and they said Behold we be thy servants 19 And Joseph said unto them * Ch. 45.5 Fear not for am I in the place of God 20 But as for you ye thought evil against me but God meant it unto good to bring to pass as it is this day to save much people alive 21 Now therefore fear ye not I will nourish you and your little ones And he comforted them and spake †Heb. to their hearts kindly unto them 22 ¶ And Joseph dwelt in Egypt he and his fathers house and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years 23 And Joseph saw Ephraims children of the third generation * Numb 32.39 the children also of Machir the son of Manasseh were †Heb. born brought up upon Josephs knees 24 And Joseph said unto his brethren I die and * Hebr. 11.22 God will surely visit you and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham to Isaac and to Jacob. 25 And * Exod. 13.19 Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel saying God will surely visit you and ye shall carry up my bones from hence 26 So Joseph died being an hundred and ten years old and they embalmed him and he was put in a coffin in Egypt ¶ The second book of Moses called EXODUS CHAP. But the more they afflicted them the more they multiplyed and grew And they were grieved because of the children of Israel 13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour 14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage in morter and in brick and in all manner of service in the field all their service wherein they made them serve was with rigour 15 And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives of which the name of one was Shiphrah and the name of the other Puah 16 And he said When ye do the office of a midwise to the Hebrew women and see them upon the stools if it be a son then ye shall kill him but if it be a daughter then she shall live 17 But the
shall first set forth 10 ¶ On the south-side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their armies and the captain of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur 11 And his host and those that were numbred thereof were fourty and six thousand and five hundred 12 And those which pitch by him shall be the tribe of Simâ—on and the captain of the children of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai 13 And his host and those that were numbred of them were fifty and â—ine thousand and three hundred 14 Then the tribe of Gad and the captain of the sons of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel 15 And his host and those that were numbred of them were fourty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty 16 All that were numbred in the camp of Reuben were an hundred thousand and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty throughout their armies and they shall set forth in the second rank 17 ¶ Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp as they encamp so shall they set forward every man in his place by their standards 18 ¶ On the west-side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim according to their armies and the captain of the sons of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud 19 And his host and those that were numbred of them were fourty thousand and five hundred 20 And by him shall be the tribe of Manasseh and the captain of the children of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur 21 And his host and those that were numbred of them were thirty and two thousand and two hundred 22 Then the tribe of Benjamin and the captain of the sons of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni 23 And his host and those that were numbred of them were thirty and five thousand and four hundred 24 All that were numbred of the camp of Ephraim were an hundred thousand and eight thousand and an hundred throughout their armies and they shall go forward in the third rank 25 ¶ The standard of the camp of Dan shall be on the north-side by their armies and the captain of the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai 26 And his host and those that were numbred of them were threescore and two thousand and seven hundred 27 And those that encamp by him shall be the tribe of Asher and the captain of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ocran 28 And his host and those that were numbred of them were fourty and one thousand and five hundred 29 Then the tribe of Naphtali and the captain of the children of Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan 30 And his host and those that were numbred of them were fifty and three thousand and four hundred 31 All they that were numbred in the camp of Dan were an hundred thousand and fifty and seven thousand and six hundred they shall go hindmost with their standards 32 ¶ These are those which were numbred of the children of Israel by the house of their fathers all those that were numbred of the camps throughout their hosts were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty 33 But the Levites were not numbred among the children of Israel as the LORD commanded Moses 34 And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses so they pitched by their standards and so they set forward every one after their families according to the house of their fathers CHAP. III. 1 The sons of Aaron 5 The Levites are given to the priests for the service of the tabernacleâ— 11 in stead of the first-born 14 The Levites are numbred by their families 21 The families number and charge of the Gershonites 27 of the Koâ—athites 33 of the Merarites 38 The place and charge of Moses and Aaron 40 The first-born are freed by the Levites 44 The overplus are redeemed THese also are the generations of Aaron and Moses in the day that the LORD spake with Moses in mount Sinai 2 And these are the names of the sons of Aaron Nadab the * Exod. 6.23 first-born and Abihu Eleazar and Ithamar 3 These are the names of the sons of Aaron the priests which were anointed †Heb. whose hand be filled whom he consecrated to minister in the priests office 4 * Lev. 10.1 Ch. 26.61 1 Chr. 24.2 And Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD when they offered strange fire before the LORD in the wilderness of Sinai and they had no children and Eleazar and Ithamar ministred in the priests office in the sight of Aaron their father 5 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 6 Bring the tribe of Levi near and present them before Aaron the priest that they may minister unto him 7 And they shall keep his charge and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation to do the service of the tabernacle 8 And they shall keep all the instruments of the tabernacle of the congregation and the charge of the children of Israel to do the service of the tabernacle 9 And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel 10 And thou shalt appoint Aaron and his sons and they shall wait on their priests office and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death 11 ¶ And the LORD spake unte Moses saying 12 And I behold I have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel in stead of all the first-born that openeth the matrice among the children of Israel therefore the Levites shall be mine 13 Because all the first-born are mine * Exod. 13.2 Lev. 27.26 Chap. 8.16 Luk. 2.23 for on the day that I smote all the first born in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the first-born in Israel both man and beast mine they shall be I am the LORD 14 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai saying 15 Number the children of Levi after the house of their fathers by their families every male from a moneth old and upward shalt thou number them 16 And Moses numbred them according to the †Heb. mouth word of the LORD as he was commanded 17 * Gen. 46.11 Exod. 6.16 Ch. 26.57 1 Chro. 6.1 And these were the sons of Levi by their names Gershon and Kohath and Merari 18 And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families Libni and Shimei 19 And the sons of Kohath by their families Amram and Izehar Hebron and Uzziel 20 And the sons of Merari by their families Mahli and Mushi these are the families of the Levites according to the house of their fathers 21 Of Gershon was the family of the Libnites and the family
beside Esoth on the †Heb. lip shore of the Red sea in the land of Edom. 27 And Hiram sent in the navy his servants shipmen that had knowledge of the sea with the servants of Solomon 28 And they came to Ophir and fet from thence gold four hundred and twenty talents and brought it to king Solomon CHAP. X. 1 The queen of Sheba admireth the wisdom of Solomon 14 Solomons gold 16 His targets 18 The throne of ivory 21 His vessels 24 His presents 26 His chariots and horse 28 His tribute ANd when the * 2 Chr. 9.1 Mat. 12.42 Luk. 11.31 queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD she came to prove him with hard questions 2 And she came to Jerusalem with a very great train with camels that bare spices and very much gold and precious stones and when she was come to Solomon she communed with him of all that was in her heart 3 And Solomon told her all her †Heb. words questions there was not any thing hid from the king which he told her not 4 And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomons wisdom and the house that he had built 5 And the meat of his table and the sitting of his servants and the †Heb. standing attendance of his ministers and their apparel and his ‖ Or butlers cup-bearers and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the LORD there was no more spirit in her 6 And she said to the king It was a true †Heb. word report that I heard in mine own land of thy ‖ Or sayings acts and of thy wisdom 7 Howbeit I beleeved not the words until I came and mine eyes had seen it and behold the hall was not told me †Heb. thou hast added wisdom and goodness to the fame thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard 8 Happy are thy men happy are these thy servants which stand continually before thee and that hear thy wisdom 9 Blessed be the LORD thy God which delighted in thee to set thee on the throne of Israel because the LORD loved Israel for ever therefore made he thee king to do judgement and justice 10 And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold and of spices very great store and precious stones there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the queen of Sheba gave to king Solomon 11 And the navy also of Hiram that brought gold from Ophir brought in from Ophir great plenty of almug-trees precious stones 12 And the king made of the almug-trees ‖ Or rails †Heb. 〈◊〉 prop. pillars for the house of the LORD and for the kings house harps also and psalteries for singers there came no such * 2 Chr. 9.10 almug trees nor were seen unto this day 13 And king Solomon gave unto the queen of Sheba all her desire whatsoever she asked besides that which Solomon gave her †Heb. according to the hand of king Solomon of his royal bounty so she turned and went to her own countrey she and her servants 14 ¶ Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold 15 Besides that he had of the merchant-men and of the traffick of the spice-merchants and of all the kings of Arabia and of the ‖ Or captains governours of the countrey 16 ¶ And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold six hundred shekels of gold went to one target 17 And he made three hundred shields of beaten gold three pound of gold went to one shield and the king put them in the * Chap. 7.2 house of the forrest of Lebanon 18 ¶ Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory and overlaid it with the best gold 19 The throne had six steps and the top of the throne was round †Heb. on the hinder paâ—e thereof behinde and there were †Heb. hands stays on either side on the place of the seat and two lions stood beside the stays 20 And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps there was not †Heb. sâ— the like made in any kingdom 21 ¶ And all king Solomons drinking-vessels were of gold and all the vessels of the house of the forrest of Lebanon were of pure gold ‖ Or there was no silver in them none were of silver it was nothing accounted of in the days of Solomon 22 For the king had at sea a navy of Tharshish with the navy of Hiram once in three years came the navy of Tharshish bringing gold and silver ‖ Or elephantâ— tâ—eth ivory and apes and peacocks 23 So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom 24 ¶ And all the earth †Heb. souâ—ht the faâ—e of sought to Solomon to hear his wisdom which God had put in his heart 25 And they brought every man his present vessels of silver and vessels of gold and garments and armour and spices horses and mules a rate year by year 26 ¶ * 2 Chr. 1.14 And Solomon gathered together chariots and hors-men and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots and twelve thousand hors-men whom he bestowed in the cities for chariots and with the king at Jerusalem 27 And the king †Heb. gave made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones and cedars made he to be as the sycomore-trees that are in the vale for abundance 28 ¶ * 1 Chr. 1.16 9.28 †Heb. And the going forth of the horses which was Solomons And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt and linen yarn the kings merchants received the linen yarn at a price 29 And a chariot came up and went out of Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver and an horse for an hundred and fifty and so for all the kings of the Hittites and for the kings of Syria did they bring them out †Heb. by their hand by their means CHAP.
