profit_v and_o gain_v thereby_o but_o oftentimes_o they_o deceive_v themselves_o for_o none_o but_o good_a people_n do_v true_o prosper_v in_o their_o affair_n though_o man_n reason_n do_v judge_v the_o contrary_n as_o touch_v the_o wicked_a what_o gain_n soever_o they_o get_v &_o what_o joy_n soever_o they_o have_v yet_o do_v it_o all_o turn_n unto_o their_o hurt_n it_o seem_v good_a to_o outward_a appearance_n that_o good_a people_n be_v most_o miserable_a &_o that_o there_o be_v noon_n more_o unhappy_a and_o curse_a than_o they_o in_o all_o the_o world_n but_o solomon_n which_o lie_v not_o do_v show_v we_o their_o prosperity_n when_o he_o attribute_v life_n unto_o the_o work_n of_o the_o righteous_a as_o if_o he_o do_v say_v that_o the_o just_a man_n do_v not_o apply_v himself_o unto_o any_o work_n but_o unto_o that_o which_o be_v the_o path_n way_n that_o lead_v unto_o life_n contrary_o after_o the_o outward_a sight_n the_o wicked_a reap_v great_a profit_n by_o the_o work_v they_o take_v in_o hand_n but_o their_o destruction_n which_o be_v great_a be_v at_o hand_n utter_o to_o beat_v they_o down_o solomon_n do_v signify_v the_o same_o unto_o we_o when_o he_o say_v that_o the_o ungodly_a use_v his_o increase_n unto_o sin_n for_o the_o reward_n of_o sin_n be_v death_n but_o as_o the_o work_n of_o the_o righteous_a do_v not_o profit_v himself_o alone_o but_o do_v serve_v and_o compel_v he_o to_o fly_v and_o too_o run_v away_o no_o man_n will_v have_v think_v that_o what_o shift_n soever_o he_o can_v make_v that_o he_o shall_v escape_v the_o hand_n of_o saul_n and_o live_v to_o become_v king_n of_o israel_n likewise_o when_o jesus_n christ_n be_v see_v to_o hang_v on_o the_o cross_n as_o a_o thief_n they_o think_v he_o clean_o destroy_v and_o do_v not_o think_v be_v strong_a and_o floorishe_v with_o glory_n and_o riches_n of_o this_o world_n it_o seem_v that_o they_o ought_v to_o come_v to_o the_o end_n of_o their_o desire_n and_o of_o that_o they_o take_v in_o hand_n without_o hindrance_n and_o let_v and_o that_o none_o shall_v withstand_v they_o pharaoh_n &_o his_o folk_n think_v that_o they_o shall_v oppress_v the_o people_n of_o israel_n at_o their_o pleasure_n but_o the_o issue_n and_o en_fw-fr de_fw-fr show_v the_o clean_a contrary_n for_o the_o people_n of_o god_n rejoice_v at_o their_o deliverance_n and_o pharaoh_n and_o his_o people_n nor_o to_o get_v estimation_n but_o only_o to_o employ_v the_o time_n unto_o good_a work_n &_o to_o have_v necessary_a thing_n belong_v to_o this_o life_n aswell_o for_o himself_o as_o for_o his_o family_n yet_o solomon_n his_o mind_n and_o intent_n be_v not_o such_o here_o as_o we_o may_v know_v by_o the_o second_o part_n of_o his_o sentence_n wherein_o he_o oppose_v and_o set_v the_o revenewe_n of_o the_o wicked_a against_o the_o work_n and_o labour_n of_o the_o righteous_a and_o sin_n which_o bring_v death_n against_o life_n and_o albeit_o that_o god_n do_v give_v we_o this_o honour_n by_o his_o word_n to_o attribute_v life_n unto_o the_o work_n and_o labour_n yet_o let_v we_o not_o think_v that_o they_o be_v worthy_a thereof_o and_o deserve_v thereby_o but_o let_v we_o child_n the_o instruction_n of_o a_o father_n etc._n etc._n and_o to_o the_o admonition_n have_v add_v the_o promise_n in_o the_o 4._o and_o 6._o verse_n also_o in_o the_o 13._o verse_n he_o repeat_v again_o the_o self_n same_o admonition_n and_o thereto_o also_o have_v add_v the_o promise_n the_o say_a admonition_n so_o often_o rehearse_v shall_v suffice_v to_o induce_v we_o to_o receive_v and_o keep_v the_o instruction_n which_o be_v give_v we_o by_o the_o lord_n and_o aso_n the_o promise_n so_o often_o repeat_v aught_o to_o be_v sufficient_a to_o assure_v we_o of_o the_o goodness_n of_o god_n towards_o we_o and_o to_o make_v we_o more_o incline_v to_o submit_v ourselves_o unto_o the_o good_a will_n of_o god._n but_o we_o be_v dull_a upon_o the_o spur_n and_o for_o one_o admonition_n or_o twain_o we_o make_v no_o account_n to_o give_v obedience_n and_o for_o one_o or_o two_o promise_n we_o can_v be_v assure_v of_o the_o infallible_a truth_n of_o god_n so_o full_a of_o rebellion_n and_o disobedience_n we_o be_v &_o so_o full_a of_o doubtfulness_n and_o distrust_n and_o therefore_o we_o have_v need_v that_o we_o shall_v be_v handle_v according_a unto_o our_o rudeness_n and_o infirmity_n the_o which_o our_o lord_n do_v in_o his_o holy_a word_n and_o also_o by_o the_o peach_a of_o the_o same_o word_n in_o the_o which_o one self_o doctrine_n be_v often_o repete_v for_o this_o cause_n solomon_n be_v not_o negligent_a often_o to_o tell_v we_o one_o very_a thing_n and_o that_o which_o he_o have_v already_o say_v many_o time_n heretofore_o he_o repeat_v say_v to_o take_v heed_n etc._n etc._n this_o affirmation_n contain_v a_o instruction_n and_o promise_n for_o by_o affirm_v it_o he_o will_v have_v we_o to_o understande_v that_o he_o do_v admonish_v we_o
the_o word_n be_v not_o direct_v but_o unto_o the_o child_n of_o god_n yet_o it_o cease_v not_o to_o sound_v in_o the_o ear_n of_o stranger_n which_o be_v mingle_v with_o the_o household_n of_o god_n but_o because_o they_o hear_v it_o with_o contempt_n as_o they_o declare_v by_o not_o receive_v the_o same_o with_o faith_n and_o obedience_n for_o this_o cause_n it_o serve_v unto_o their_o be_v the_o youth_n be_v the_o worst_a rule_v in_o such_o wise_a that_o they_o care_v not_o what_o they_o do_v so_o that_o they_o may_v live_v at_o ease_n and_o therefore_o albeit_o that_o we_o have_v the_o word_n of_o god_n daily_o preach_v unto_o we_o the_o which_o be_v the_o way_n of_o wisdom_n and_o righteousness_n yet_o be_v it_o very_o hard_a to_o persuade_v many_o that_o they_o be_v rebel_n against_o the_o word_n and_o that_o the_o way_n have_v be_v teach_v they_o etc._n etc._n after_o the_o meaning_n of_o solomon_n which_o speak_v unto_o obedient_a child_n for_o none_o but_o they_o do_v true_o receive_v the_o way_n of_o wisdom_n and_o walk_v in_o the_o path_n of_o righteousness_n that_o solomon_n do_v direct_v his_o word_n unto_o these_o we_o may_v understand_v by_o the_o promise_n to_o be_v admonish_v not_o to_o forsake_v the_o way_n that_o have_v be_v teach_v we_o neither_o be_v we_o always_o so_o assure_v of_o the_o promise_n that_o be_v make_v we_o by_o the_o worde_n of_o and_o lewd_a affection_n when_o he_o say_v 35_o then_o shall_v thou_o say_v they_o have_v strike_v i_o but_o i_o be_v not_o sick_a they_o have_v beat_v i_o and_o i_o have_v not_o feel_v it_o when_o i_o shall_v awake_v i_o will_v put_v myself_o forth_o and_o seek_v it_o still_o although_o we_o add_v here_o then_o shall_v thou_o say_v to_o declare_v that_o it_o be_v a_o drunkard_n talk_v to_o say_v they_o have_v strike_v i_o etc._n etc._n yet_o nevertheless_o solomon_n expound_v to_o we_o here_o rather_o the_o disposition_n and_o affection_n of_o drunkard_n than_o these_o word_n they_o be_v so_o transpose_v by_o the_o wine_n that_o they_o fall_v asleep_a so_o sound_o and_o so_o deep_o that_o although_o one_o thump_v they_o toss_v they_o and_o torment_v they_o with_o great_a blowr_n or_o though_o they_o fall_v from_o high_a yet_o they_o have_v no_o hurt_n thereby_o nor_o feel_v nothing_o they_o be_v so_o give_v to_o drink_v excessive_o that_o although_o they_o perceive_v well_o that_o the_o wine_n have_v do_v they_o hurt_v yet_o nevertheless_o as_o soon_o as_o they_o be_v again_o awake_a they_o go_v to_o seek_v out_o good_a drink_n and_o to_o drink_v again_o and_o feel_v themselves_o ill_a at_o ease_n with_o the_o wine_n which_o they_o have_v drink_v the_o day_n before_o to_o heal_v themselves_o they_o say_v that_o they_o must_v have_v a_o hear_v of_o the_o same_o dog_n which_o bite_v they_o in_o this_o we_o may_v see_v that_o drunkard_n be_v less_o sensible_a than_o brute_n beast_n for_o although_o they_o sleep_v yet_o one_o can_v come_v never_o so_o little_a near_o they_o but_o they_o perceive_v he_o then_o much_o more_o will_v they_o feel_v he_o that_o touch_v they_o any_o way_n one_o may_v see_v also_o that_o they_o be_v less_o reasonable_a for_o
