little_a of_o the_o spirit_n though_o this_o be_v the_o great_a new_a testament_n promise_n it_o may_v be_v from_o saint_n darkness_n in_o the_o way_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n saint_n go_v out_o of_o the_o way_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n and_o that_o legality_n that_o be_v in_o and_o upon_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o saint_n as_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o spirit_n be_v the_o great_a under_o the_o new_a testament_n administration_n and_o yet_o have_v but_o very_o little_a of_o the_o spirit_n for_o even_o in_o new_a testament_n time_n there_o be_v as_o i_o may_v say_v a_o old_a testament_n spirit_n upon_o the_o saint_n they_o look_v upon_o themselves_o through_o their_o darkness_n and_o ignorance_n as_o stand_v under_o the_o old_a administration_n they_o have_v thereby_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o old_a covenant_n and_o of_o the_o old_a testament_n wrought_v in_o they_o and_o so_o far_o as_o they_o have_v a_o old_a testament_n spirit_n so_o far_o there_o will_v not_o be_v a_o give_v forth_o of_o the_o spirit_n to_o they_o in_o that_o full_a measure_n for_o god_n will_v give_v forth_o the_o spirit_n in_o the_o way_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n quest_n what_o be_v the_o way_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n in_o which_o god_n will_v give_v out_o new_a testament_n mercy_n be_v ans_fw-fr to_o that_o i_o answer_v the_o way_n of_o the_o new_a testament_n it_o be_v the_o world_n nevertheless_o to_o close_a prison_n i_o must_v go_v and_o yet_o do_v not_o know_v any_o colour_n of_o reason_n or_o of_o law_n for_o that_o usage_n unto_o this_o moment_n neither_o be_v it_o possible_a i_o ever_o shall_v for_o that_o imprisonment_n be_v contradictory_n to_o all_o principle_n of_o reason_n justice_n and_o conscience_n all_o that_o can_v be_v say_v be_v this_o he_o forbear_v to_o preach_v as_o former_o etc._n etc._n and_o this_o his_o say_a secretary_n will_v witness_v this_o business_n be_v frequent_o repeat_v in_o my_o absence_n be_v twenty_o mile_n off_o in_o prison_n i_o commend_v the_o master_n and_o the_o man_n they_o will_v make_v the_o saint_n my_o friend_n believe_v strange_a thing_n against_o i_o when_o i_o be_o far_o enough_o out_o of_o the_o hear_n but_o the_o lord_n know_v i_o never_o be_v conscious_a to_o myself_o of_o any_o thing_n in_o that_o kind_n neither_o do_v i_o give_v occasion_n for_o any_o man_n so_o to_o judge_v and_o report_n for_o the_o truth_n be_v this_o i_o be_v not_o afraid_a either_o of_o his_o look_n or_o his_o threat_n in_o the_o least_o from_o first_o to_o last_o neither_o be_v i_o at_o all_o convince_v by_o any_o thing_n that_o he_o say_v that_o i_o have_v do_v any_o evil_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o lord_n or_o of_o man_n in_o whatsoever_o i_o preach_v concern_v the_o little_a horn_n which_o as_o i_o judge_v be_v the_o cause_n of_o my_o imprisonment_n on_o his_o part_n nevertheless_o this_o i_o must_v needs_o say_v and_o it_o be_v truth_n when_o i_o hear_v the_o general_n speak_v at_o such_o a_o rate_n concern_v impulse_n upon_o occasion_n of_o somewhat_o i_o have_v a_o little_a before_o touch_v upon_o magnify_v the_o fruit_n of_o such_o impulse_n as_o come_v upon_o his_o own_o spirit_n as_o all_o excellent_a and_o glorious_a i_o begin_v to_o wonder_v and_o think_v it_o somewhat_o strange_a to_o hear_v such_o language_n savour_v of_o self-exaltation_n but_o when_o i_o hear_v he_o vilify_v those_o impulse_n which_o other_o saint_n have_v experience_n of_o judge_v their_o impulse_n to_o be_v from_o the_o devil_n condemn_v that_o spirit_n by_o which_o they_o speak_v say_v we_o have_v forsake_v the_o head_n christ_n and_o be_v under_o the_o ministration_n of_o evil_a angel_n etc._n etc._n my_o countenance_n i_o very_o believe_v be_v very_o much_o change_v because_o of_o that_o great_a trouble_n which_o fall_v upon_o my_o spirit_n in_o hear_v such_o word_n border_v as_o i_o then_o conceive_v upon_o blasphemy_n hereupon_o cast_v my_o eye_n up_o towards_o the_o wall_n over_o against_o i_o and_o shake_v my_o head_n with_o much_o grief_n of_o heart_n to_o hear_v he_o i_o consider_v in_o myself_o whether_o i_o shall_v reply_v to_o he_o concern_v those_o grievous_a expression_n of_o he_o or_o not_o and_o even_o as_o i_o be_v resolve_v in_o the_o negative_a these_o word_n come_v into_o my_o mind_n or_o be_v put_v into_o my_o mind_n with_o power_n answer_v he_o not_o a_o word_n answer_v he_o not_o a_o word_n whereupon_o when_o he_o have_v do_v speak_v i_o keep_v silence_n and_o do_v not_o return_v a_o word_n that_o i_o can_v remember_v from_o this_o passage_n i_o be_o apt_a to_o think_v they_o suppose_v i_o be_v convince_v by_o what_o have_v be_v speak_v by_o he_o and_o have_v nothing_o more_o to_o say_v for_o myself_o and_o thereupon_o have_v spread_v this_o untrue_a report_n but_o they_o be_v and_o be_v deceive_v in_o that_o matter_n but_o at_o the_o end_n of_o three_o day_n and_o a_o half_a i_o be_v set_v free_a not_o make_v any_o promise_n or_o yield_v to_o any_o term_n which_o be_v propound_v to_o i_o i_o suppose_v they_o be_v not_o able_a to_o justify_v what_o they_o have_v do_v for_o this_o imprisonment_n be_v contrary_a to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n and_o of_o the_o land_n yea_o and_o contrary_a to_o his_o own_o oath_n which_o he_o have_v solemn_o take_v but_o five_o day_n before_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o many_o witness_n and_o so_o i_o have_v do_v for_o the_o present_a with_o my_o first_o imprisonment_n as_o for_o the_o cause_n of_o this_o second_o imprisonment_n it_o be_v as_o far_o from_o my_o knowledge_n as_o the_o former_a unless_o it_o be_v for_o bear_v my_o testimony_n public_o against_o the_o open_a and_o notorious_a abomination_n of_o the_o time_n wherein_o the_o general_n and_o his_o army_n be_v so_o involve_v together_o with_o the_o parochial_a churchman_n and_o the_o lukewarm_a professor_n that_o certain_o there_o will_v overtake_v they_o a_o most_o sore_a visitation_n from_o the_o lord_n which_o will_v destroy_v their_o refuge_n of_o lie_n and_o tear_v their_o instrument_n all_o to_o piece_n if_o this_o be_v to_o be_v vile_a i_o will_v be_v more_o vile_a if_o i_o must_v suffer_v persecution_n imprisonment_n and_o reproach_n for_o this_o the_o will_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v do_v i_o be_o make_v more_o than_o a_o conqueror_n through_o he_o who_o have_v love_v i_o shall_v not_o i_o be_v as_o bold_a to_o plead_v for_o the_o lamb_n against_o the_o beast_n as_o they_o be_v to_o plead_v the_o cause_n of_o antichrist_n against_o the_o lord_n jesus_n god_n forbid_v i_o be_v indeed_o after_o i_o be_v apprehend_v this_o second_o time_n bring_v before_o a_o committee_n of_o the_o council_n as_o they_o call_v it_o where_o they_o cause_v to_o be_v read_v in_o my_o hear_n some_o passage_n of_o a_o sermon_n at_o alhallows_n two_o day_n before_o and_o will_v have_v i_o to_o answer_v whether_o i_o have_v speak_v those_o thing_n which_o some_o of_o their_o pursuivant_n or_o sneak_a spy_n have_v bring_v unto_o they_o it_o put_v i_o in_o mind_n of_o the_o persecute_v prelate_n who_o lay_v snare_n to_o intray_n the_o servant_n of_o god_n in_o their_o faithful_a preach_n to_o the_o people_n i_o tell_v they_o i_o will_v neither_o affirm_v nor_o deny_v any_o thing_n but_o when_o they_o bring_v the_o accuser_n and_o the_o witness_n face_n to_o face_n i_o will_v give_v they_o a_o answer_n and_o so_o we_o part_v after_o four_o or_o five_o day_n they_o send_v i_o to_o windsor_n castle_n and_o here_o i_o have_v be_v nineteen_o month_n and_o more_o and_o know_v not_o when_o i_o shall_v come_v to_o a_o trial_n they_o be_v a_o long_a time_n methinks_v in_o prepare_v the_o charge_n against_o i_o sure_o they_o be_v to_o seek_v it_o for_o i_o be_v in_o prison_n before_o their_o law_n be_v publish_v and_o where_o there_o be_v no_o law_n there_o be_v no_o transgression_n now_o i_o will_v willing_o know_v of_o such_o as_o reproach_v i_o as_o a_o evil_a doer_n and_o therefore_o i_o suffer_v just_o what_o be_v my_o transgression_n and_o what_o be_v my_o sin_n for_o if_o i_o be_o a_o offender_n as_o paul_n say_v or_o have_v commit_v any_o thing_n worthy_a of_o death_n i_o refuse_v not_o to_o die_v or_o otherwise_o to_o be_v punish_v according_a to_o my_o demerit_n in_o case_n i_o have_v transgress_v any_o law_n of_o righteousness_n whatsoever_o wherefore_o i_o humble_o conceive_v that_o my_o imprisonment_n do_v not_o render_v i_o uncapable_a of_o write_v to_o the_o lord_n people_n and_o therefore_o these_o thing_n not_o be_v intend_v for_o any_o but_o the_o follower_n of_o the_o lamb_n i_o shall_v desire_v they_o not_o to_o condemn_v i_o before_o they_o find_v i_o manifest_o convict_v of_o those_o notorious_a evil_n which_o be_v report_v
god_n and_o they_o all_o fall_v in_o the_o wilderness_n and_o so_o it_o will_v be_v with_o we_o in_o this_o day_n if_o he_o deal_v with_o we_o upon_o the_o account_n of_o the_o old_a covenant_n but_o because_o god_n deal_v with_o we_o upon_o the_o account_n of_o the_o new_a covenant_n as_o the_o people_n of_o god_n have_v cause_n to_o be_v humble_v for_o all_o their_o sin_n yet_o consider_v this_o can_v hinder_v but_o the_o lord_n can_v yet_o and_o the_o lord_n indeed_o i_o hope_v of_o his_o grace_n will_v do_v glorious_a thing_n for_o his_o child_n notwithstanding_o all_o their_o unworthines_n his_o grace_n shall_v come_v triumph_v over_o all_o these_o david_n kingdom_n grow_v out_o of_o the_o new_a covenant_n therefore_o it_o be_v not_o the_o unworthynes_n of_o he_o nor_o his_o follower_n that_o be_v discontent_v gather_v themselves_o unto_o he_o and_o he_o become_v a_o captain_n over_o they_o if_o one_o shall_v serious_o look_v upon_o david_n and_o his_o follower_n will_v be_v think_v there_o shall_v any_o good_a come_v of_o it_o many_o no_o doubt_n do_v thus_o look_v upon_o david_n and_o his_o follower_n and_o therefore_o expect_v no_o good_a to_o come_v of_o his_o kingdom_n i_o this_o glorious_a cause_n may_v be_v so_o manage_v as_o it_o deserve_v yet_o suppose_v it_o be_v manage_v with_o many_o infirmity_n so_o that_o many_o stumble_v at_o it_o say_v can_v this_o monarchy_n ever_o prosper_v let_v such_o consider_v that_o this_o glorious_a bless_a cause_n be_v found_v upon_o the_o new_a covenant_n and_o though_o man_n can_v overlook_v infirmity_n yet_o god_n will_v and_o accomplish_v the_o thing_n notwithstanding_o they_o for_o the_o new_a covenant_n sake_n i_o will_v be_v merciful_a to_o their_o sin_n and_o remember_v their_o iniquity_n no_o more_o consider_v when_o jesus_n christ_n rid_v to_o jerusalem_n as_o a_o king_n he_o do_v not_o choose_v the_o most_o glorious_a beast_n to_o ride_v upon_o but_o he_o choose_v that_o beast_n that_o be_v most_o weak_a
