they_o may_v be_v all_o bring_v under_o this_o one_o head_n of_o examination_n which_o be_v not_o only_o commend_v by_o the_o apostle_n but_o let_v a_o man_n examine_v himself_o 28._o and_o so_o let_v he_o eat_v of_o that_o bread_n and_o drink_v of_o that_o cup_n but_o urge_v and_o press_v upon_o we_o with_o great_a severity_n than_o any_o precept_n in_o the_o book_n of_o god_n for_o faith_n the_o apostle_n in_o the_o same_o place_n 27._o he_o that_o through_o a_o neglect_n of_o this_o duty_n of_o examination_n eat_v and_o drink_v unworthy_o 29._o 1_o he_o be_v guilty_a of_o the_o body_n and_o cruel_a handle_n of_o our_o bless_a saviour_n in_o whip_v and_o scourge_v he_o in_o mock_v and_o deride_v he_o in_o pierce_v and_o crucify_a he_o and_o therefore_o take_v heed_n lest_o thou_o in_o like_a manner_n be_v guilty_a by_o thy_o unworthy_a receive_n of_o the_o sacrament_n of_o the_o lord_n supper_n through_o thy_o unprepared_a come_n thereunto_o we_o read_v how_o the_o blood_n of_o innocent_a abel_n do_v lie_v so_o heavy_a upon_o cain_n 13._o that_o he_o cry_v out_o my_o punishment_n be_v great_a than_o i_o can_v bear_v how_o heavy_a then_o will_v the_o blood_n of_o jesus_n and_o drink_v damnation_n to_o himself_o so_o our_o translator_n render_v it_o and_o true_o this_o be_v a_o necessary_a consequence_n from_o the_o former_a for_o he_o that_o be_v guilty_a of_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n how_o can_v he_o but_o incur_v the_o danger_n of_o damnation_n 〈◊〉_d indeed_o the_o word_n in_o the_o greek_a translate_v damnation_n may_v as_o well_o signify_v temporal_a chastisement_n as_o eternal_a punishment_n and_o questionless_a as_o hypocrite_n and_o unbeliever_n while_o they_o eat_v and_o drink_v unworthy_o eat_v and_o drink_v damnation_n to_o themselves_o if_o they_o repent_v not_o so_o also_o such_o as_o be_v faithful_a and_o sincere_a christian_n when_o they_o through_o infirmity_n and_o negligence_n do_v partake_v of_o this_o ordinance_n unworthy_o incur_v thereby_o temporal_a judgement_n as_o sickness_n weakness_n and_o sometime_o death_n itself_o for_o say_v the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o the_o believe_a corinthian_n who_o have_v not_o prepare_v themselves_o as_o they_o shall_v to_o that_o ordinance_n 30._o for_o this_o cause_n many_o be_v weak_a and_o sickly_a among_o you_o and_o many_o sleep_n or_o die_v for_o what_o cause_n namely_o because_o they_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n unworthy_o and_o irreverent_o without_o any_o preparation_n or_o examination_n of_o themselves_o i_o grant_v the_o best_a man_n can_v be_v say_v in_o themselves_o to_o be_v worthy_a to_o partake_v of_o this_o ordinance_n yet_o if_o thou_o be_v a_o believe_a christian_a and_o do_v sincere_o endeavour_v to_o receive_v it_o in_o that_o manner_n and_o with_o such_o affection_n as_o the_o lord_n do_v require_v of_o thou_o thou_o may_v be_v say_v how_o
