church_n then_o doubtless_o its_o much_o more_o lawful_a now_o in_o these_o day_n wherein_o civil_a magistrate_n do_v open_o profess_v themselves_o friend_n to_o christ_n and_o hold_v forth_o to_o the_o world_n by_o manifold_a protestation_n that_o they_o place_v their_o great_a ambition_n in_o be_v servant_n to_o christ_n otherwise_o it_o will_v follow_v that_o christ_n and_o his_o church_n shall_v be_v loser_n and_o in_o a_o worse_a condition_n by_o live_v under_o such_o magistrate_n as_o we_o be_v bind_v to_o believe_v be_v real_a in_o their_o protestation_n and_o profession_n of_o and_o for_o christ_n then_o under_o those_o that_o be_v heathen_a which_o be_v absurd_a in_o any_o to_o affirm_v the_o reason_n be_v because_o such_o magistrate_n know_v themselves_o to_o be_v ordain_v of_o god_n for_o the_o good_a of_o the_o saint_n and_o not_o for_o their_o hurt_n for_o their_o encouragement_n and_o furtherance_n in_o the_o way_n of_o godliness_n and_o not_o for_o their_o discouragement_n and_o hindrance_n rom._n 13.4_o 5._o 4._o last_o what_o ground_n for_o comfort_n can_v those_o have_v to_o build_v on_o if_o the_o magistrate_n shall_v approve_v of_o it_o and_o countenance_v it_o as_o we_o doubt_v not_o as_o we_o say_v before_o but_o in_o the_o lord_n time_n he_o will_v when_o they_o enter_v upon_o it_o for_o that_o very_a reason_n &_o cause_n because_o its_o the_o command_n of_o the_o magistrate_n and_o he_o approve_v of_o it_o i_o say_v for_o that_o very_a cause_n and_o reason_n and_o no_o other_o as_o many_o of_o late_a that_o will_v not_o part_v with_o the_o ceremony_n and_o service-booke_n though_o never_o so_o popish_a and_o antichristian_a till_o they_o see_v the_o same_o power_n that_o set_v they_o up_o do_v pull_v they_o down_o not_o touch_v with_o any_o other_o way_n of_o worship_n prescribe_v in_o god_n word_n before_o they_o see_v what_o the_o civil_a magistrate_n do_v authorise_v now_o i_o say_v what_o comfort_n can_v these_o man_n have_v in_o what_o they_o do_v see_v that_o hereby_o 1._o they_o make_v the_o order_n appoint_v by_o christ_n for_o his_o service_n and_o worship_n to_o depend_v on_o the_o will_n and_o pleasure_n of_o man_n and_o 2._o their_o fear_n of_o god_n be_v teach_v by_o the_o precept_n of_o man_n esay_n 29.13_o and_o 3._o their_o honour_v of_o the_o creature_n herein_o be_v a_o flat_a dishonour_n of_o god_n for_o this_o kind_n of_o obedience_n to_o humane_a power_n diminish_v if_o not_o annihilate_v the_o right_a and_o true_a obedience_n that_o be_v due_a to_o divine_a power_n set_v up_o the_o minister_n and_o servant_n in_o the_o place_n and_o room_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o master_n and_o what_o comfort_n can_v man_n take_v in_o this_o doubtless_o there_o be_v a_o day_n come_v when_o the_o eternal_a god_n will_v make_v man_n ashamed_a of_o it_o and_o it_o may_v cost_v they_o bitter_o obj._n then_o you_o will_v say_v by_o this_o doctrine_n magistrate_n be_v not_o to_o be_v reverence_v nor_o regard_v ans_fw-fr a_o mere_a non_fw-la sequitur_fw-la for_o can_v cesar_o be_v obey_v unless_o he_o be_v set_v up_o in_o god_n room_n but_o this_o be_v no_o other_o than_o a_o vile_a aspersion_n that_o malicious_a and_o envious_a spirit_n will_v cast_v on_o the_o faithful_a servant_n of_o jesus_n christ_n who_o reverence_n respect_n and_o just_a obedience_n to_o authority_n i_o make_v no_o doubt_n shall_v be_v find_v in_o due_a time_n to_o appear_v in_o its_o beauty_n and_o excellency_n through_o the_o good_a hand_n of_o our_o god_n upon_o they_o when_o the_o rottenness_n of_o such_o base_a malicious_a selvish_a spirit_n shall_v be_v discover_v to_o their_o everlasting_a ignominy_n and_o disgrace_n for_o god_n be_v faithful_a that_o have_v promise_v to_o plead_v the_o cause_n of_o his_o people_n &_o cause_v their_o integrity_n and_o faithfulness_n even_o in_o this_o point_n i_o doubt_v not_o to_o shine_v forth_o as_o the_o sun_n at_o noonday_n psal_n
