yet_o never_o come_v to_o full_a particular_a confession_n second_o true_a confession_n be_v constant_a but_o false_a be_v only_o in_o some_o good_a mood_n or_o in_o some_o affliction_n as_o sickness_n etc._n etc._n three_o true_a confession_n arise_v from_o a_o good_a ground_n namely_o a_o base_a conceit_n of_o ourselves_o a_o true_a shame_n and_o a_o earnest_n desire_v only_o to_o glorify_v god_n with_o a_o full_a purpose_n whole_o to_o debase_v themselves_o and_o a_o perfect_a resolution_n to_o forsake_v the_o sin_n he_o confess_v which_o the_o wicked_a never_o do_v 3._o restitution_n that_o be_v true_a and_o right_a differ_v from_o false_a because_o hypocritical_a restitution_n be_v in_o necessity_n when_o he_o can_v help_v it_o but_o it_o be_v a_o burden_n to_o he_o than_o he_o cast_v it_o away_o as_o a_o dog_n do_v his_o vomit_n when_o he_o be_v sick_a by_o it_o thus_o judas_n restore_v but_o when_o we_o care_v for_o it_o and_o it_o be_v please_v to_o we_o then_o to_o restore_v it_o be_v a_o sign_n of_o grace_n thus_o do_v zacheus_n cheerful_o when_o he_o may_v have_v keep_v it_o the_o hypocrite_n restore_v as_o the_o merchant_n that_o cast_v his_o good_n into_o the_o sea_n unwilling_o yet_o will_v rather_o lose_v they_o then_o his_o life_n thus_o have_v we_o see_v that_o there_o be_v a_o false_a repentance_n confession_n and_o restitution_n much_o like_a to_o the_o true_a and_o how_o they_o differ_v then_o see_v there_o be_v such_o similitude_n between_o false_a repentance_n and_o true_a this_o shall_v teach_v we_o what_o 3_o to_o judge_v of_o such_o man_n repentance_n which_o be_v only_o in_o the_o time_n of_o sickness_n it_o be_v great_o to_o be_v fear_v that_o it_o be_v even_o such_o as_o judas_n his_o be_v false_a and_o hypocritical_a only_o in_o some_o mood_n last_o if_o this_o repentance_n of_o judas_n be_v not_o true_a 4._o what_o shall_v we_o think_v of_o they_o that_o have_v not_o go_v so_o far_o as_o judas_n do_v to_o repent_v confess_v and_o restore_v sure_o this_o be_v the_o case_n of_o many_o now_o adays_o all_o these_o thing_n that_o be_v in_o the_o repentance_n of_o judas_n be_v good_a and_o commendable_a in_o true_a repentance_n but_o we_o must_v exceed_v it_o before_o we_o can_v come_v at_o heaven_n and_o therefore_o if_o they_o that_o do_v not_o exceed_v it_o shall_v never_o come_v there_o what_o shall_v become_v of_o those_o that_o come_v far_o short_a of_o it_o next_o mark_v the_o name_n judas_n now_o give_v christ_n he_o call_v he_o innocent_a i_o have_v sin_v in_o betray_v of_o innocent_a blood_n whence_o learn_v that_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v good_a be_v approve_v to_o man_n doctr._n conscience_n whether_o they_o will_v or_o no._n judas_n confess_v christ_n innocent_a now_o this_o put_v not_o a_o new_a conceit_n of_o christ_n into_o his_o conscience_n but_o make_v he_o confess_v what_o before_o he_o think_v in_o his_o conscience_n to_o be_v so_o but_o some_o may_v say_v that_o many_o man_n that_o be_v worthy_a instrument_n of_o god_n glory_n find_v envy_n and_o hatred_n quest._n here_o among_o man_n indeed_o it_o be_v true_a but_o it_o will_v be_v but_o for_o a_o short_a time_n before_o the_o mist_n will_v be_v expel_v from_o before_o answ._n their_o conscience_n and_o afterward_o although_o their_o conscience_n for_o a_o while_n may_v be_v tongue-tied_a yet_o they_o will_v open_o approve_v they_o to_o be_v good_a man_n as_o 2._o judas_n here_o do_v christ._n first_o because_o it_o be_v not_o in_o the_o power_n of_o man_n to_o judge_v as_o they_o will_v but_o they_o must_v judge_v according_a to_o the_o reas._n light_n of_o conscience_n that_o be_v in_o they_o they_o can_v but_o see_v what_o be_v present_v unto_o they_o by_o conscience_n as_o the_o eye_n be_v open_a can_v but_o see_v what_o be_v show_v to_o it_o and_o it_o be_v so_o natural_a to_o the_o conscience_n to_o see_v truth_n for_o light_n be_v put_v into_o the_o conscience_n even_o of_o the_o wicked_a by_o god_n himself_o hence_o be_v that_o that_o the_o evangelist_n saint_n john_n say_v joh._n 1._o the_o light_n shine_v in_o darkness_n where_o by_o light_n be_v mean_v the_o natural_a light_n of_o conscience_n which_o although_o it_o make_v not_o man_n obedient_a to_o the_o truth_n yet_o it_o make_v they_o to_o acknowledge_v the_o truth_n therefore_o conscience_n by_o the_o schoolman_n be_v call_v a_o virgin_n because_o it_o be_v not_o defile_v by_o untruth_n but_o ever_o murmur_n against_o evil_n and_o assent_v to_o truth_n and_o good_a it_o may_v be_v oppress_v somewhat_o but_o ever_o keep_v itself_o straight_o in_o judgement_n therefore_o the_o false_a judgement_n of_o the_o wicked_a come_v not_o from_o conscience_n but_o from_o lust_n which_o when_o they_o be_v go_v as_o in_o death_n or_o often_o before_o than_o they_o speak_v the_o truth_n second_o because_o god_n will_v have_v glory_n from_o all_o the_o creature_n that_o he_o have_v make_v and_o they_o can_v but_o acknowledge_v it_o to_o be_v right_a therefore_o they_o which_o sin_n against_o the_o holy_a ghost_n though_o they_o hate_v goodness_n because_o they_o count_v it_o not_o good_a to_o they_o yet_o in_o itself_o they_o think_v it_o to_o be_v good_a therefore_o the_o devil_n believe_v and_o tremble_v come_v from_o their_o conscience_n this_o shall_v teach_v we_o to_o think_v well_o of_o the_o way_n 1_o of_o god_n although_o other_o speak_v against_o they_o for_o it_o be_v for_o some_o secret_a cause_n and_o inward_o they_o do_v approve_v of_o they_o in_o their_o conscience_n while_o they_o live_v and_o oft_o witness_v the_o same_o at_o
fear_n there_o be_v in_o they_o the_o root_n of_o comfort_n remain_v there_o be_v many_o example_n that_o may_v be_v bring_v to_o prove_v the_o same_o but_o i_o know_v none_o like_o that_o of_o our_o saviour_n christ_n who_o although_o he_o be_v in_o such_o unspeakable_a horror_n of_o conscience_n that_o it_o make_v he_o cry_v out_o my_o god_n my_o god_n why_o have_v thou_o for_o saken_a i_o yet_o this_o horror_n be_v mingle_v with_o faith_n comfort_n and_o the_o assurance_n of_o god_n favour_n so_o god_n child_n may_v have_v such_o sorrow_n and_o be_v so_o drunken_a with_o wormwood_n that_o it_o may_v make_v they_o not_o to_o know_v what_o to_o do_v yet_o in_o all_o this_o grief_n the_o fire_n of_o god_n love_n be_v not_o quite_o extinguish_v but_o there_o be_v some_o spark_n thereof_o remain_v under_o these_o ash_n here_o be_v a_o caveat_n to_o be_v give_v of_o two_o thing_n first_o let_v those_o that_o be_v in_o this_o disposition_n of_o caveat_n mind_n take_v heed_n of_o that_o that_o satan_n in_o this_o condition_n may_v labour_v to_o bring_v we_o unto_o for_o than_o they_o be_v in_o a_o disease_n and_o those_o that_o be_v in_o a_o disease_n incline_v unto_o some_o thing_n take_v heed_n then_o of_o pollute_v the_o sabbath_n and_o other_o sin_n that_o he_o may_v entice_v thou_o to_o for_o sanus_fw-la and_o aeger_fw-la differ_v the_o one_o desire_n one_o thing_n the_o other_o another_o second_o something_o must_v be_v do_v positive_o caveat_n for_o the_o heal_n of_o our_o grief_n when_o that_o we_o be_v in_o sorrow_n we_o must_v pitch_v it_o upon_o the_o proper_a it_o not_o but_o when_o it_o lie_v on_o our_o shoulder_n so_o before_o this_o horror_n be_v charge_v on_o the_o conscience_n we_o feel_v it_o not_o but_o then_o be_v it_o exceed_v terrible_a it_o be_v with_o grief_n as_o it_o be_v with_o joy_n there_o be_v three_o thing_n in_o all_o joy_n 1._o there_o be_v a_o good_a thing_n 2._o there_o be_v the_o conjunction_n of_o that_o good_a thing_n to_o we_o 3._o a_o reflect_v knowledge_n thereof_o so_o also_o in_o grief_n there_o be_v threething_n 1._o there_o be_v a_o bad_a thing_n 2._o the_o conjunction_n of_o that_o to_o we_o 3._o the_o reflect_v of_o the_o understanding_n whereby_o we_o know_v the_o hurt_n that_o come_v to_o we_o thereby_o when_o a_o man_n feel_v and_o see_v and_o know_v his_o sin_n then_o be_v it_o unsupportable_a and_o the_o reason_n thereof_o be_v because_o that_o then_o a_o man_n spirit_n be_v wound_v and_o can_v bear_v itself_o the_o reason_n of_o this_o point_n be_v these_o three_o first_o because_o that_o sin_n and_o god_n wrath_n be_v in_o 1_o themselves_o the_o great_a evil_n as_o righteousness_n and_o god_n favour_n be_v the_o great_a good_a man_n may_v think_v that_o punishment_n be_v the_o great_a evil_n but_o it_o be_v not_o for_o that_o be_v but_o the_o effect_n of_o sin_n sin_n be_v the_o cause_n thereof_o now_o we_o know_v that_o the_o cause_n be_v always_o great_a than_o the_o effect_n now_o when_o god_n shall_v open_v our_o eye_n to_o see_v this_o sin_n and_o god_n wrath_n than_o it_o will_v be_v a_o insupportable_a burden_n this_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n the_o wicked_a shall_v cry_v hill_n and_o mountain_n fall_v upon_o we_o to_o hide_v we_o from_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o judge_n because_o that_o then_o god_n shall_v open_v their_o eye_n to_o see_v their_o sin_n which_o if_o he_o shall_v do_v now_o while_o they_o be_v here_o on_o earth_n will_v make_v they_o cry_v out_o as_o much_o as_o it_o be_v with_o comfort_n so_o it_o be_v with_o grief_n if_o we_o know_v not_o of_o it_o it_o affect_v we_o not_o as_o the_o army_n that_o be_v about_o gebezai_n it_o comfort_v not_o he_o because_o he_o see_v it_o not_o so_o for_o grief_n although_o hell_n and_o damnation_n be_v about_o we_o yet_o if_o we_o see_v it_o not_o we_o do_v not_o regard_v it_o the_o second_o reason_n be_v take_v from_o god_n manner_n 2._o of_o work_v on_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o creature_n he_o than_o leave_v it_o now_o we_o be_v to_o know_v that_o the_o great_a comfort_n the_o creature_n have_v be_v the_o fruition_n of_o god_n presence_n &_o the_o great_a grief_n be_v his_o absence_n if_o we_o want_v that_o we_o be_v deprive_v of_o all_o comfort_n as_o if_o the_o sun_n be_v absent_a we_o be_v deprive_v of_o all_o light_n if_o there_o be_v but_o a_o little_a comfort_n remain_v that_o will_v serve_v to_o hold_v the_o head_n above_o the_o water_n but_o if_o all_o comfort_n be_v go_v it_o then_o present_o sink_v the_o proper_a object_n of_o fear_n and_o grief_n be_v the_o absence_n of_o good_a and_o prelence_n of_o evil_a and_o both_o they_o come_v by_o the_o privation_n of_o god_n presence_n the_o three_o reason_n be_v take_v from_o the_o nature_n of_o conscience_n itself_o when_o it_o be_v awaken_v because_o that_o reas._n then_o it_o be_v sensible_a of_o the_o least_o sin_n for_o every_o faculty_n as_o it_o be_v large_a so_o it_o be_v more_o capable_a of_o joy_n and_o grief_n therefore_o man_n be_v say_v to_o be_v more_o capable_a of_o joy_n and_o grief_n than_o the_o bruit_n beast_n and_o in_o man_n the_o soul_n be_v more_o capable_a than_o the_o body_n and_o in_o the_o soul_n conscience_n of_o all_o other_o part_n most_o capable_a and_o as_o the_o conscience_n be_v capable_a of_o the_o great_a grief_n so_o also_o of_o the_o great_a comfort_n it_o be_v capable_a of_o the_o peace_n of_o god_n which_o pass_v all_o understanding_n and_o sure_o this_o horror_n of_o conscience_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o spark_n of_o hell_n fire_n which_o the_o heathen_a have_v some_o inkling_n of_o when_o they_o say_v they_o be_v exagitated_a with_o the_o fury_n see_v then_o that_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v thus_o insuppartable_a this_o shall_v teach_v we_o in_o all_o thing_n especial_o 1_o to_o labour_v to_o keep_v a_o good_a conscience_n and_o to_o labour_v to_o be_v free_a from_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n if_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v the_o great_a evil_n then_o shall_v the_o whole_a stream_n of_o our_o endeavour_n be_v to_o take_v heed_n thereof_o by_o labour_v for_o to_o keep_v a_o pure_a conscience_n proportion_n your_o care_n herein_o to_o the_o good_a that_o will_v come_v thereby_o it_o will_v bring_v the_o unspeakable_a comfort_n without_o this_o labour_n to_o keep_v a_o good_a conscience_n thou_o will_v never_o have_v thy_o heart_n perfect_a therefore_o labour_n for_o it_o consider_v the_o good_a it_o bring_v man_n busy_a their_o head_n here_o to_o the_o utmost_a for_o other_o thing_n as_o for_o learning_n credit_n riches_n honour_n and_o all_o because_o they_o think_v that_o they_o be_v worthy_a their_o labour_n let_v we_o then_o but_o consider_v the_o fruit_n that_o this_o peace_n of_o conscience_n will_v bring_v let_v we_o but_o gather_v up_o our_o thought_n that_o be_v busy_v so_o much_o about_o other_o thing_n and_o but_o consider_v this_o a_o little_a which_o if_o man_n will_v but_o do_v they_o will_v spend_v more_o time_n about_o it_o then_o they_o d_o you_o for_o now_o these_o thing_n be_v do_v but_o by_o the_o bye_n and_o have_v not_o that_o tithe_n of_o the_o time_n spend_v about_o they_o that_o shall_v be_v which_o we_o spend_v about_o other_o thing_n but_o let_v such_o know_v that_o it_o be_v but_o a_o folly_n to_o go_v about_o that_o work_n with_o a_o finger_n which_o require_v the_o strength_n of_o the_o whole_a body_n when_o this_o work_n of_o the_o build_n of_o grace_n do_v require_v the_o whole_a strength_n of_o a_o man_n and_o we_o put_v not_o our_o whole_a strength_n thereto_o it_o be_v no_o marvel_n if_o we_o do_v not_o prosper_v therein_o let_v we_o therefore_o serious_o consider_v our_o way_n let_v we_o consider_v with_o what_o tentation_n the_o devil_n daily_o assay_v we_o consider_v that_o it_o be_v as_o good_a get_v ground_n of_o the_o rage_a sea_n as_o of_o rage_a lust_n consider_v these_o thing_n with_o as_o they_o will_v not_o labour_v to_o keep_v a_o good_a conscience_n it_o be_v all_o one_o as_o if_o a_o sluggard_n shall_v complain_v of_o his_o poverty_n or_o a_o idle_a scholar_n shall_v complain_v of_o his_o ignorance_n be_v exhort_v therefore_o to_o prize_v the_o peace_n of_o conscience_n spend_v the_o chief_a of_o your_o care_n for_o it_o what_o if_o you_o lose_v some_o few_o other_o thing_n so_o you_o get_v that_o they_o be_v all_o nothing_o in_o comparison_n to_o that_o but_o the_o common_a fashion_n now_o be_v to_o spend_v but_o a_o little_a time_n in_o such_o thing_n as_o these_o be_v and_o so_o think_v that_o enough_o too_o this_o show_v we_o the_o miserable_a condition_n of_o those_o that_o still_o lie_v in_o their_o sin_n it_o may_v be_v they_o think_v 2._o the_o burden_n thereof_o to_o be_v light_n and_o account_v it_o not_o but_o when_o the_o burden_n of_o their_o sin_n shall_v be_v lay_v upon_o they_o they_o will_v find_v to_o be_v intolerable_a now_o while_o the_o burden_n lie_v not_o on_o their_o shoulder_n they_o feel_v it_o not_o but_o when_o god_n shall_v once_o say_v let_v he_o bear_v the_o burden_n of_o his_o sin_n we_o shall_v find_v they_o to_o be_v unsupportable_a even_o able_a to_o press_v we_o down_o to_o hell_n as_o here_o they_o do_v judas_n the_o common_a fashion_n of_o man_n be_v not_o to_o regard_v what_o sin_n they_o run_v into_o for_o the_o escape_n of_o some_o outward_a cross_n think_v that_o to_o be_v the_o great_a but_o they_o shall_v one_o day_n to_o their_o cost_n find_v the_o contrary_a that_o these_o outward_a thing_n to_o see_v how_o man_n like_o little_a child_n rejoice_v and_o tremble_v at_o appearance_n child_n cry_v not_o at_o thing_n to_o be_v fear_v but_o at_o thing_n not_o to_o be_v fear_v as_o hobgoblin_n and_o the_o like_a they_o cry_v so_o do_v man_n most_o common_o fear_v those_o thing_n that_o be_v but_o umbrae_fw-la doloris_fw-la for_o outward_a evil_n be_v like_o the_o scabbard_n for_o pardon_n for_o it_o above_o all_o other_o thing_n if_o we_o mean_v to_o have_v it_o it_o be_v now_o become_v the_o fashion_n of_o the_o world_n to_o pray_v for_o the_o pardon_n of_o their_o sin_n in_o a_o superficial_a manner_n but_o such_o shall_v never_o obtain_v it_o but_o only_o those_o that_o be_v fervent_a in_o prayer_n for_o it_o for_o god_n will_v be_v glorify_v of_o every_o man_n but_o you_o must_v know_v that_o he_o be_v full_a of_o patience_n it_o be_v his_o nature_n he_o be_v patience_n itself_o though_o patience_n be_v a_o quality_n in_o we_o yet_o it_o be_v not_o so_o in_o god_n it_o be_v his_o essence_n the_o second_o reason_n be_v this_o he_o bear_v long_o with_o wicked_a man_n for_o the_o propagation_n and_o increase_v of_o reason_n mankind_n for_o if_o he_o shall_v punish_v man_n as_o fast_o as_o they_o offend_v and_o deserve_v death_n how_o shall_v the_o church_n increase_v how_o shall_v the_o church_n stand_v this_o be_v to_o overthrow_v and_o weaken_v his_o own_o power_n but_o god_n be_v wise_a and_o know_v better_o how_o to_o turn_v the_o evil_a intention_n and_o deed_n of_o man_n for_o the_o good_a of_o his_o church_n as_o for_o example_n if_o a_o captain_n upon_o some_o general_a fault_n commit_v by_o his_o soldier_n if_o he_o shall_v execute_v all_o offender_n this_o be_v the_o way_n to_o destroy_v his_o army_n and_o so_o expose_v himself_o unto_o the_o hand_n of_o his_o enemy_n therefore_o he_o take_v but_o a_o few_o here_o one_o and_o there_o one_o to_o make_v the_o rest_n to_o take_v heed_n they_o fall_v not_o again_o thus_o do_v god_n he_o do_v not_o inflict_v punishment_n that_o be_v present_a death_n upon_o all_o sinner_n but_o take_v here_o and_o there_o one_o to_o make_v they_o palpable_a example_n unto_o the_o rest_n as_o we_o see_v daily_o how_o the_o lord_n meet_v with_o the_o sin_n of_o man_n then_o when_o they_o least_o think_v of_o sin_n or_o god_n the_o three_o reason_n why_o god_n do_v patient_o bear_v with_o offender_n be_v this_o he_o do_v it_o for_o the_o good_a of_o some_o reason_n that_o be_v yet_o to_o be_v call_v and_o therefore_o you_o know_v what_o the_o lord_n say_v unto_o the_o husbandman_n in_o the_o gospel_n when_o he_o will_v have_v pluck_v up_o the_o tare_n let_v they_o alone_o say_v he_o until_o the_o harvest_n yet_o howsoever_o this_o comparison_n do_v not_o always_o hold_v true_a for_o he_o do_v not_o forbear_v the_o pluck_n of_o they_o up_o expect_v any_o change_n but_o only_o lest_o in_o pluck_v up_o they_o he_o shall_v hurt_v the_o good_a seed_n for_o tare_n will_v never_o be_v wheat_n so_o they_o that_o be_v reprobate_v will_v never_o convert_v yet_o it_o hold_v good_a in_o this_o he_o let_v tare_n grow_v that_o be_v he_o bear_v patient_o with_o wicked_a man_n even_o with_o those_o that_o as_o yet_o seem_v to_o be_v so_o because_o as_o yet_o they_o have_v not_o express_v the_o fruit_n of_o their_o conversion_n and_o therefore_o for_o this_o reason_n do_v god_n forbear_v long_o to_o punish_v the_o wicked_a lest_o he_o shall_v destroy_v the_o seed_n of_o the_o righteous_a the_o four_o reason_n why_o god_n suffer_v long_o be_v this_o that_o he_o may_v try_v the_o heart_n how_o it_o will_v carry_v it_o reason_n self_n towards_o he_o not_o that_o he_o know_v not_o the_o heart_n before_o but_o that_o the_o heart_n may_v now_o know_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v patient_a when_o he_o shall_v consider_v how_o patient_o god_n have_v deal_v with_o he_o and_o how_o long_o he_o have_v bear_v with_o he_o for_o this_o make_v man_n more_o inexcusable_a before_o god_n and_o more_o ashamed_a of_o themselves_o when_o they_o shall_v call_v to_o mind_n what_o time_n what_o opportunity_n what_o occasion_n they_o have_v have_v to_o good_a how_o they_o may_v have_v store_v themselves_o with_o grace_n and_o make_v their_o peace_n with_o he_o and_o then_o how_o many_o sin_n they_o have_v commit_v time_n after_o time_n and_o then_o what_o check_v of_o conscience_n after_o to_o reclaim_v they_o i_o say_v if_o man_n do_v but_o consider_v this_o they_o can_v not_o but_o say_v that_o god_n be_v patient_a the_o five_o reason_n be_v this_o although_o they_o be_v not_o reason_n afflict_v as_o other_o man_n be_v yet_o it_o be_v not_o because_o they_o be_v therefore_o not_o afflict_v at_o all_o for_o indeed_o they_o be_v afflict_v with_o the_o great_a affliction_n that_o can_v be_v other_o man_n affliction_n may_v seem_v to_o be_v great_a but_o yet_o not_o so_o but_o be_v lesser_a whatsoever_o they_o may_v seem_v to_o be_v and_o that_o in_o these_o respect_n 1._o respect_n because_o wicked_a man_n they_o lose_v the_o spirit_n god_n deny_v they_o grace_n and_o that_o be_v the_o respect_n great_a affliction_n that_o god_n can_v lay_v upon_o any_o sinner_n namely_o to_o deny_v grace_n this_o be_v the_o affliction_n that_o god_n lay_v upon_o saul_n it_o have_v be_v better_a for_o saul_n that_o a_o thousand_o judgement_n have_v befall_v he_o then_o to_o have_v lose_v the_o spirit_n the_o favour_n of_o god_n now_o wicked_a man_n they_o lose_v the_o favour_n of_o god_n they_o lose_v the_o obtain_n of_o save_a grace_n therefore_o whatsoever_o they_o seem_v to_o be_v yet_o the_o truth_n be_v they_o be_v more_o afflict_v than_o other_o man_n 2._o respect_n the_o prosperity_n of_o wicked_a man_n be_v a_o punishment_n for_o that_o which_o slay_v man_n be_v a_o punishment_n respect_n but_o this_o the_o prosperity_n of_o wicked_a man_n do_v fit_v they_o for_o destruction_n and_o therefore_o the_o wise_a man_n say_v proverb_n 1._o 32._o that_o prosperity_n and_o ease_n 32._o slay_v the_o wicked_a that_o be_v the_o more_o they_o prosper_v and_o thrive_v and_o rejoice_v in_o their_o lust_n the_o great_a stab_n do_v sin_n give_v they_o at_o the_o heart_n and_o the_o more_o irrecoverable_o be_v they_o smite_v therefore_o they_o have_v no_o cause_n to_o brag_v of_o their_o prosperity_n 3._o respect_n be_v this_o because_o they_o may_v wither_v and_o respect_n die_v in_o their_o sin_n and_o that_o be_v a_o great_a punishment_n for_o because_o they_o be_v not_o afflict_v as_o other_o man_n be_v therefore_o it_o be_v that_o their_o superfluous_a branch_n of_o lust_n and_o covetousness_n and_o pride_n be_v not_o lop_v off_o for_o affliction_n lop_v these_o off_o which_o hinder_v the_o growth_n of_o save_a grace_n as_o you_o know_v the_o superfluous_a branch_n of_o any_o tree_n hinder_v the_o growth_n of_o the_o other_o branch_n if_o they_o be_v not_o cut_v off_o they_o will_v make_v they_o to_o wither_v and_o die_v thus_o it_o be_v with_o wicked_a man_n because_o they_o be_v not_o afflict_v they_o begin_v to_o wither_v and_o grow_v cold_a unto_o good_a the_o body_n do_v not_o so_o much_o wither_v with_o age_n as_o the_o inward_a man_n do_v by_o these_o lust_n theybreed_a a_o consumption_n in_o the_o soul_n that_o will_v not_o be_v recover_v 4._o respect_n again_o though_o we_o see_v they_o not_o afflict_v respect_n yet_o they_o have_v many_o affliction_n which_o we_o know_v not_o even_o as_o the_o godly_a have_v many_o inward_a joy_n and_o comfort_n in_o their_o heart_n which_o wicked_a man_n never_o feel_v so_o wicked_a man_n have_v many_o strong_a fear_n in_o their_o heart_n and_o many_o sudden_a flash_n of_o the_o fire_n of_o hell_n in_o their_o soul_n much_o hollowness_n in_o their_o heart_n much_o sorrow_n mingle_v with_o their_o carnal_a joy_n and_o often_o affright_v with_o the_o jaw_n of_o death_n and_o arrest_v with_o horror_n of_o conscience_n though_o outward_o they_o seem_v to_o the_o world_n to_o be_v the_o joyful_a and_o happy_a man_n in_o the_o world_n yet_o the_o truth_n be_v they_o be_v the_o most_o miserable_a and_o sorrowful_a man_n in_o the_o world_n for_o as_o the_o inward_a joy_n be_v far_o great_a than_o the_o outward_a joy_n so_o the_o inward_a sorrow_n be_v far_o great_a than_o the_o outward_a sorrow_n alone_o thus_o you_o see_v the_o point_n prove_v the_o use_n of_o this_o shall_v teach_v we_o not_o to_o delude_v use_v ourselves_o in_o the_o matter_n of_o affliction_n in_o affliction_n we_o be_v ready_a to_o conclude_v because_o our_o affliction_n be_v great_a than_o other_o that_o therefore_o we_o be_v great_a sinner_n but_o here_o you_o see_v the_o contrary_a the_o great_a sinner_n be_v not_o always_o outward_o the_o great_a afflict_a for_o god_n
