worthy_a person_n under_o heaven_n will_v such_o a_o temper_n or_o principle_n as_o this_o commend_v he_o as_o a_o person_n so_o much_o the_o more_o worthy_a love_n and_o respect_n in_o the_o eye_n of_o any_o consider_a man_n or_o will_v they_o not_o rather_o draw_v disparagement_n and_o contempt_n upon_o he_o yea_o and_o this_o from_o those_o very_a person_n who_o he_o shall_v affect_v and_o love_v upon_o such_o term_n therefore_o in_o case_n it_o be_v possible_a for_o i_o certain_o to_o know_v that_o how_o loose_o how_o profane_o how_o debauched_o soever_o i_o shall_v behave_v myself_o yet_o god_n will_v love_v i_o as_o entire_o as_o fervent_o as_o he_o do_v the_o holy_a and_o most_o righteous_a man_n under_o heaven_n it_o will_v be_v a_o very_a slender_a motive_n unto_o i_o to_o importance_n to_o the_o saint_n because_o though_o there_o be_v but_o a_o possibility_n only_o of_o their_o fall_v away_o yet_o consider_v their_o manifold_a and_o great_a weakness_n and_o aptness_n to_o sin_n they_o must_v needs_o be_v in_o continual_a fear_n lest_o this_o possibility_n shall_v be_v reduce_v into_o act._n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v nothing_o that_o can_v bless_v they_o with_o any_o security_n or_o peace_n in_o this_o kind_n but_o the_o knowledge_n and_o belief_n of_o some_o such_o fix_a and_o unchangeable_a decree_n of_o god_n as_o this_o that_o however_o they_o shall_v never_o fall_v away_o to_o perdition_n nor_o be_v there_o the_o same_o consideration_n of_o a_o saint_n refrain_v from_o sin_n and_o of_o a_o man_n forbear_v to_o destroy_v his_o natural_a life_n by_o wilful_a precipitation_n poison_v himself_o or_o the_o like_a because_o the_o inclination_n which_o be_v in_o man_n to_o preserve_v their_o natural_a life_n and_o being_n and_o so_o to_o refrain_v all_o thing_n manifest_o destructive_a to_o they_o be_v potent_a vigorous_a and_o active_a whereas_o the_o inclination_n to_o abstain_v from_o sin_n which_o be_v in_o the_o saint_n be_v comparative_o weak_a much_o encumber_v and_o break_v by_o the_o flesh_n the_o frequent_a motion_n and_o temptation_n thereof_o etc._n etc._n to_o these_o thing_n and_o whatsoever_o may_v be_v further_o pretend_v in_o the_o same_o kind_n i_o answer_v 1._o though_o that_o disposition_n which_o be_v in_o the_o saint_n to_o forbear_v sin_n be_v neither_o 29._o §._o 29._o so_o free_a nor_o so_o and_o further_o have_v make_v they_o the_o saint_n themselves_o i_o mean_v every_o way_n capable_a all_o their_o infirmity_n and_o weakness_n consider_v and_o allow_v for_o of_o the_o use_n of_o these_o mean_n even_o to_o the_o actual_a produce_v of_o such_o a_o glorious_a and_o bless_a effect_n as_o that_o so_o that_o if_o the_o say_a inclination_n in_o they_o be_v not_o every_o way_n as_o serviceable_a unto_o they_o in_o secure_v they_o against_o all_o fear_n of_o act_v in_o any_o way_n apparent_o destructive_a to_o their_o great_a spiritual_a interest_n the_o save_n of_o their_o soul_n as_o the_o other_o inclination_n in_o man_n be_v unto_o they_o to_o secure_v they_o from_o fear_n of_o do_v any_o thing_n know_o to_o the_o unavoideable_a loss_n of_o their_o life_n the_o fault_n be_v mere_o and_o absolute_o in_o themselves_o and_o this_o not_o through_o any_o infirmity_n or_o weakness_n which_o be_v natural_a to_o they_o and_o so_o inseparable_a but_o through_o a_o gross_a rank_n and_o stupid_a carelessness_n and_o sloth_n if_o thus_o then_o be_v not_o the_o doctrine_n of_o fall_v away_o any_o way_n prejudicial_a to_o the_o peace_n and_o comfort_n of_o the_o saint_n in_o respect_n of_o itself_o but_o mere_o accidental_o and_o occasional_o viz._n as_o the_o saint_n will_v voluntary_o and_o without_o any_o necessity_n either_o from_o within_o or_o from_o without_o compeling_o they_o break_v out_o into_o such_o extravagancy_n of_o sin_n which_o that_o doctrine_n be_v true_a may_v just_o fill_v they_o with_o fear_n of_o fall_v away_o and_o perish_v but_o let_v i_o say_v this_o too_o which_o here_o be_v not_o to_o be_v omit_v that_o even_o the_o assertor_n themselves_o of_o the_o common_a doctrine_n of_o perseverance_n do_v affirm_v and_o teach_v that_o their_o doctrine_n itself_o notwithstanding_o the_o saint_n under_o such_o extravagancy_n of_o sin_n as_o we_o speak_v of_o can_v have_v no_o comfort_n peace_n or_o assurance_n of_o salvation_n and_o consequent_o no_o assurannce_n of_o persevere_v in_o faith_n unto_o the_o end_n therefore_o by_o their_o own_o confession_n and_o tenor_n of_o discourse_n there_o be_v no_o such_o great_a consideration_n for_o the_o eviction_n of_o what_o be_v claim_v by_o we_o from_o the_o place_n which_o be_v that_o a_o man_n true_o righteous_a may_v so_o degenerate_a and_o apostatise_v that_o god_n but_o unregenerate_a man_n as_o some_o of_o our_o adversary_n themselves_o more_o consider_v then_o their_o fellow_n do_v acknowledge_v nor_o do_v that_o of_o the_o apostle_n without_o faith_n it_o be_v unpossible_a to_o please_v god_n 6_o god_n heb._n 11._o 6_o any_o way_n contradict_v it_o of_o which_o place_n we_o shall_v i_o conceive_v have_v occasion_n to_o speak_v more_o at_o large_a hereafter_o 3._o it_o it_o yet_o further_o the_o doctrine_n and_o sense_n of_o our_o adversary_n that_o reprobate_n themselves_o may_v have_v and_o many_o time_n have_v some_o excellent_a gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n confer_v upon_o they_o and_o among_o other_o the_o gift_n of_o prayer_n itself_o so_o that_o be_v it_o grant_v or_o can_v it_o be_v prove_v that_o david_n under_o his_o impenitency_n for_o his_o cry_a sin_n do_v pray_v or_o be_v wont_a to_o pray_v unto_o god_n it_o can_v be_v infer_v from_o hence_o that_o therefore_o he_o be_v not_o in_o a_o estate_n of_o reprobation_n or_o destitute_a of_o the_o save_a grace_n or_o favour_n of_o god_n it_o be_v not_o necessary_a that_o he_o that_o total_o fall_v away_o from_o save_v faith_n shall_v be_v especial_o on_o the_o sudden_a devest_v or_o dispossess_v of_o any_o much_o less_o of_o all_o such_o gift_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n which_o be_v consistent_a with_o a_o estate_n of_o reprobation_n or_o unregeneracy_n 4._o if_o david_n be_v a_o true_a believer_n during_o the_o time_n of_o his_o wallow_n in_o the_o mire_n of_o those_o two_o foul_a crime_n oft_o mention_v then_o be_v not_o his_o wash_n by_o repentance_n necessary_a to_o his_o salvation_n the_o reason_n be_v because_o true_a faith_n give_v a_o sufficient_a right_n and_o title_n to_o salvation_n and_o it_o be_v the_o main_a stream_n and_o current_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o whosoever_o believe_v shall_v be_v save_v but_o if_o david_n wash_v by_o repentance_n be_v not_o necessary_a to_o his_o salvation_n how_o can_v the_o holy_a ghost_n be_v justify_v in_o range_a murderer_n and_o whoremonger_n among_o those_o who_o shall_v have_v their_o part_n in_o the_o lake_n which_o burn_v with_o fire_n
