of_o faith_n the_o conscience_n be_v preserve_v as_o say_v the_o apostle_n 1._o tim._n 1.19_o keep_v this_o persuasion_n preserve_v it_o whole_a and_o sound_a hurt_v it_o not_o bring_v not_o thy_o soul_n into_o doubt_v stay_v not_o nor_o hinder_v thy_o persuasion_n if_o thou_o desire_v to_o keep_v health_n in_o thy_o soul_n for_o if_o thou_o doubt_v or_o any_o way_n diminish_v thy_o persuasion_n and_o assurance_n assure_o thy_o assurance_n can_v so_o soon_o be_v hinder_v nor_o diminish_v but_o at_o that_o very_a instant_n shall_v follow_v the_o diminish_n of_o the_o health_n of_o thy_o soul_n yea_o it_o can_v be_v but_o in_o that_o very_a article_n of_o time_n shall_v follow_v the_o hurt_n of_o thy_o conscience_n for_o faith_n will_v not_o dwell_v but_o in_o a_o whole_a conscience_n therefore_o at_o what_o time_n thou_o do_v any_o thing_n against_o thy_o conscience_n at_o that_o very_a time_n thou_o lose_v a_o degree_n of_o thy_o persuasion_n of_o the_o mercy_n of_o god_n and_o until_o such_o time_n as_o thou_o fall_v down_o at_o the_o foot_n of_o christ_n and_o obtain_v mercy_n for_o that_o wicked_a deed_n purchase_v peace_n at_o his_o hand_n and_o repair_v thy_o persuasion_n thou_o shall_v ever_o doubt_v of_o mercy_n and_o want_v health_n in_o thy_o conscience_n then_o this_o be_v the_o first_o lesson_n to_o keep_v health_n in_o your_o soul_n to_o be_v persuade_v of_o mercy_n the_o second_o lesson_n to_o keep_v a_o good_a conscience_n or_o to_o keep_v health_n in_o thy_o soul_n be_v this_o you_o must_v fly_v eschew_v and_o forbear_v whatsoever_o may_v trouble_v the_o health_n of_o your_o soul_n whatsoever_o may_v trouble_v the_o quietness_n and_o peaceable_a estate_n of_o your_o conscience_n cast_v it_o out_o forbear_v it_o and_o eschew_v it_o this_o general_n be_v good_a but_o let_v we_o see_v what_o it_o be_v that_o trouble_v the_o quiet_a estate_n of_o the_o conscience_n only_o sin_n nothing_o but_o a_o evil_a nature_n therefore_o we_o must_v of_o necessity_n to_o keep_v health_n in_o our_o soul_n forbear_v and_o eschew_v sin_n we_o must_v fly_v and_o avoid_v sin_n it_o be_v not_o possible_a that_o you_o can_v keep_v a_o good_a conscience_n and_o serve_v the_o affection_n of_o your_o heart_n &_o therefore_o to_o keep_v peace_n and_o health_n in_o thy_o soul_n thou_o must_v take_v leave_n of_o thy_o lust_n thou_o must_v renounce_v the_o lust_n &_o affection_n of_o thy_o heart_n and_o thou_o must_v not_o do_v as_o thou_o be_v wont_a to_o do_v thou_o must_v not_o be_v give_v to_o the_o service_n of_o thy_o affection_n &_o of_o thy_o appetite_n to_o put_v they_o in_o execution_n as_o thou_o have_v former_o do_v but_o in_o case_n thy_o affection_n or_o lust_n command_v thou_o to_o do_v any_o thing_n what_o be_v thy_o part_n thou_o must_v try_v how_o far_o this_o may_v stand_v with_o the_o good_a will_n of_o god_n and_o how_o far_o that_o affection_n which_o command_v thou_o may_v agree_v with_o the_o law_n of_o god_n be_v there_o such_o a_o harmony_n as_o that_o thing_n which_o thy_o affection_n command_v thou_o may_v stand_v with_o god_n law_n and_o holy_a will_n then_o no_o question_n it_o be_v a_o sanctify_a affection_n thou_o may_v put_v it_o in_o execution_n but_o after_o this_o trial_n if_o thou_o find_v thy_o affection_n to_o be_v exorbitant_a and_o out_o of_o rule_n carry_v thou_o from_o god_n and_o against_o his_o law_n beware_v of_o it_o resist_v it_o put_v it_o not_o in_o execution_n for_o if_o thou_o fulfil_v the_o will_n of_o thy_o affection_n what_o pleasure_n can_v it_o bring_v with_o it_o it_o may_v well_o bring_v a_o flatter_a pleasure_n in_o the_o entry_n but_o it_o close_v ever_o with_o a_o bitter_a remorse_n in_o the_o end_n then_o to_o eschew_v this_o bitter_a remorse_n shall_v you_o not_o all_o try_v your_o affection_n you_o must_v examine_v and_o try_v they_o by_o the_o square_n of_o god_n law_n you_o must_v see_v how_o far_o they_o agree_v with_o his_o law_n and_o how_o far_o they_o dissent_v from_o it_o and_o so_o far_o as_o they_o be_v dissonant_n fâ—om_n that_o law_n let_v every_o man_n deny_v himself_o renounce_v his_o affection_n and_o so_o this_o trial_n be_v take_v in_o this_o manner_n by_o thyself_o it_o sanctify_v thy_o affection_n make_v christ_n to_o lodge_v in_o thy_o soul_n make_v thy_o conscience_n to_o be_v at_o rest_n and_o the_o holy_a spirit_n this_o way_n make_v both_o body_n and_o soul_n to_o be_v in_o good_a health_n and_o to_o rejoice_v then_o fly_v from_o sin_n this_o be_v the_o second_o lesson_n the_o three_o lesson_n be_v this_o study_v to_o do_v well_o will_v thou_o keep_v health_n in_o thy_o soul_n study_v to_o do_v better_a and_o better_a continual_o at_o the_o least_o have_v a_o purpose_n in_o thy_o heart_n to_o do_v better_a daily_o which_o be_v the_o last_o lesson_n see_v that_o when_o we_o study_v to_o do_v best_a and_o that_o the_o just_a man_n that_o be_v the_o most_o holy_a man_n fall_v so_o often_o as_o seven_o time_n a_o day_n yea_o rather_o seventy_o time_n what_o be_v thy_o part_n in_o these_o slip_n and_o snare_n though_o thou_o fall_v as_o thou_o can_v not_o eschew_v to_o fall_v lie_v not_o still_o there_o sleep_v not_o there_o where_o thou_o have_v fall_v it_o be_v a_o shame_n to_o sleep_v there_o therefore_o arise_v again_o and_o how_o shall_v thou_o rise_v by_o lift_v up_o thy_o soul_n and_o run_v to_o the_o fountain_n of_o grace_n and_o mercy_n by_o repair_v to_o christ_n jesus_n to_o obtain_v mercy_n for_o thy_o soul_n and_o to_o crave_v that_o he_o will_v send_v out_o of_o himself_o that_o measure_n of_o peace_n that_o may_v put_v thy_o conscience_n at_o rest_n and_o restore_v thy_o soul_n to_o health_n so_o lie_v not_o where_o thou_o fall_v but_o incontinent_a arise_v and_o crave_v mercy_n and_o in_o obtain_v mercy_n thou_o shall_v repair_v thy_o fall_n thou_o shall_v amend_v thy_o life_n by_o repentance_n and_o by_o repentance_n thou_o shall_v get_v peace_n thou_o shall_v have_v thy_o conscience_n at_o rest_n and_o get_v health_n to_o thy_o soul_n now_o keep_v this_o rule_n if_o thou_o desire_v to_o keep_v thy_o soul_n in_o health_n look_v that_o thou_o sleep_v not_o in_o sin_n as_o david_n do_v lie_v not_o still_o when_o thou_o be_v fall_v and_o so_o fall_v from_o one_o sin_n to_o another_o as_o from_o adultery_n to_o murder_v from_o murder_n to_o the_o next_o etc._n etc._n as_o common_o if_o a_o man_n sleep_n in_o sin_n and_o rise_v not_o in_o time_n one_o sin_n will_v draw_v on_o another_o for_o there_o be_v no_o sin_n alone_o but_o always_o the_o great_a and_o more_o heinous_a that_o the_o sin_n be_v it_o have_v the_o great_a and_o worse_a sin_n wait_v on_o it_o therefore_o when_o you_o fall_v delay_v not_o to_o arise_v but_o repair_v to_o the_o fountain_n of_o mercy_n and_o seek_v grace_n in_o time_n run_v to_o prayer_n run_v to_o the_o church_n of_o god_n wheresoever_o it_o be_v whether_o in_o the_o field_n or_o in_o the_o town_n run_v to_o christ_n jesus_n and_o crave_v mercy_n of_o he_o that_o you_o may_v have_v peace_n in_o your_o conscience_n and_o so_o by_o these_o mean_v every_o one_o of_o you_o shall_v preserve_v health_n in_o your_o soul_n by_o these_o mean_v you_o shall_v learn_v what_o difference_n be_v betwixt_o this_o live_a word_n of_o mercy_n and_o grace_n which_o sound_v in_o our_o religion_n and_o that_o slay_a letter_n that_o kill_v the_o soul_n of_o every_o one_o that_o hear_v it_o i_o mean_v that_o idolatrous_a doctrine_n of_o that_o dumb_a mass_n i_o mention_v this_o unto_o you_o because_o i_o see_v that_o many_o in_o these_o day_n be_v fall_v to_o it_o and_o the_o lord_n be_v beginning_n to_o abstract_n his_o grace_n and_o mercy_n from_o this_o country_n for_o the_o contempt_n of_o this_o quicken_a word_n which_o have_v so_o clear_o sound_v here_o and_o which_o our_o countryman_n for_o the_o great_a part_n run_v headlong_o to_o the_o devil_n in_o a_o dumb_a guise_n travel_v utter_o to_o banish_v be_v not_o this_o a_o miserable_a thing_n that_o so_o few_o of_o you_o have_v eye_n to_o consider_v and_o discern_v of_o the_o time_n of_o peace_n mercy_n and_o grace_n which_o be_v so_o abundant_o offer_v the_o lord_n of_o his_o mercy_n give_v you_o eye_n in_o time_n thus_o far_o concern_v the_o reason_n wherefore_o every_o one_o of_o you_o shall_v try_v &_o examine_v your_o own_o conscience_n and_o this_o trial_n ought_v not_o to_o be_v for_o a_o day_n or_o for_o a_o year_n but_o it_o ought_v to_o be_v every_o day_n and_o
despair_v and_o though_o david_n cry_v i_o can_v away_o with_o this_o consume_a fire_n i_o can_v endure_v the_o fire_n of_o the_o lord_n jealousy_n yet_o he_o despair_v not_o but_o the_o lord_n cast_v his_o servant_n very_o low_o to_o what_o end_n to_o the_o end_n that_o they_o may_v feel_v in_o their_o heart_n and_o conscience_n what_o christ_n suffer_v for_o they_o on_o the_o cross_n in_o soul_n and_o body_n yea_o we_o will_v think_v that_o there_o have_v be_v plain_a collusion_n betwixt_o the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n and_o that_o his_o suffering_n have_v be_v no_o suffering_n except_o we_o feel_v in_o our_o soul_n in_o some_o measure_n the_o hell_n which_o he_o sustain_v in_o fullmeasure_n so_o to_o the_o end_n that_o we_o may_v clear_o understand_v the_o bitterness_n of_o sin_n that_o we_o may_v know_v how_o far_o we_o be_v indebt_v to_o christ_n who_o suffer_v such_o torment_n for_o our_o sin_n and_o that_o we_o may_v be_v the_o more_o able_a to_o thank_v he_o to_o praise_v his_o holy_a name_n he_o suffer_v his_o own_o servant_n to_o doubt_v but_o not_o to_o despair_v he_o forgive_v their_o doubt_n he_o forgive_v their_o stammering_n and_o in_o his_o own_o time_n he_o support_v they_o and_o bring_v we_o unto_o the_o water_n of_o life_n these_o doubt_n as_o i_o have_v often_o say_v soul_n may_v lodge_v in_o one_o soul_n with_o faith_n for_o doubt_v and_o faith_n be_v not_o direct_o opposite_a only_a faith_n and_o despair_n be_v opposite_a and_o therefore_o faith_n and_o despair_n can_v lodge_v both_o in_o one_o soul_n for_o despair_n overthrow_v the_o pillar_n of_o hope_n and_o where_o there_o be_v no_o hope_n there_o can_v be_v no_o faith_n but_o as_o for_o doubt_v it_o may_v lodge_v it_o will_v lodge_v and_o have_v lodge_v in_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o best_a servant_n that_o ever_o god_n have_v mark_v the_o speech_n of_o the_o apostle_n we_o be_v always_o in_o doubt_n say_v he_o but_o we_o despair_v not_o 4._o so_o doubt_v and_o faith_n may_v lodge_v both_o in_o one_o soul_n and_o from_o whence_o flow_v this_o doubt_v we_o know_v that_o in_o the_o regenerate_a man_n there_o be_v a_o remnant_n of_o corruption_n for_o we_o have_v not_o our_o heaven_n in_o this_o earth_n though_o we_o begin_v our_o heaven_n here_o yet_o we_o get_v it_o not_o full_o here_o and_o if_o all_o corruption_n be_v take_v away_o what_o shall_v there_o want_v of_o a_o full_a heaven_n here_o so_o it_o be_v only_o begin_v in_o this_o life_n and_o not_o perfect_v therefore_o there_o remain_v in_o the_o soul_n a_o great_a corruption_n which_o be_v never_o idle_a but_o continual_o occupy_v this_o corruption_n be_v ever_o bring_v forth_o the_o birth_n of_o sin_n more_o or_o less_o every_o sin_n hurt_v the_o conscience_n a_o hurt_a conscience_n impair_v the_o persuasion_n &_o so_o come_v in_o the_o doubt_n for_o there_o be_v not_o a_o sin_n that_o we_o commit_v but_o it_o banish_v light_a and_o cast_v a_o mist_n over_o the_o eye_n of_o our_o faith_n whereby_o we_o doubt_v and_o stagger_v in_o our_o sight_n and_o be_v it_o not_o that_o the_o lord_n in_o his_o mercy_n take_v we_o up_o give_v we_o the_o gift_n of_o repentance_n and_o make_v we_o every_o day_n as_o oft_o as_o we_o sin_n to_o cry_v as_o oft_o for_o mercy_n and_o so_o to_o repair_v the_o loss_n that_o we_o have_v of_o faith_n to_o repair_v the_o loss_n that_o we_o have_v of_o the_o feel_n of_o mercy_n we_o will_v whole_o put_v out_o that_o same_o light_n but_o it_o please_v the_o lord_n though_o we_o be_v every_o day_n sin_v to_o give_v we_o the_o gift_n of_o repentance_n and_o by_o repentance_n to_o repair_v our_o faith_n to_o repair_v the_o sense_n and_o feel_n of_o mercy_n in_o we_o and_o to_o put_v we_o in_o that_o same_o state_n of_o persuasion_n wherein_o we_o be_v before_o therefore_o if_o god_n begin_v not_o continue_v not_o &_o end_v not_o with_o mercy_n in_o that_o very_a moment_n that_o he_o abstracts_n his_o mercy_n from_o we_o we_o will_v decay_v so_o we_o must_v be_v diligent_a in_o call_v for_o mercy_n we_o must_v be_v instant_a continual_o in_o seek_v to_o have_v a_o feel_n of_o mercy_n thus_o much_o for_o thâ—_n doubt_v decay_v now_o howsoever_o it_o be_v sure_a and_o certain_a that_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o best_a child_n of_o god_n be_v often_o subject_a to_o doubt_v yet_o it_o be_v as_o sure_a and_o certain_a that_o it_o be_v never_o whole_o extinct_a albeit_o it_o be_v never_o so_o weak_a yet_o it_o shall_v never_o utter_o decay_v and_o perish_v out_o of_o the_o heart_n wherein_o it_o once_o make_v residence_n this_o comfort_n and_o consolation_n the_o spirit_n of_o god_n have_v set_v down_o in_o his_o word_n to_o support_v the_o trouble_a heart_n that_o howsoever_o faith_n be_v weak_a yet_o a_o weak_a faith_n be_v faith_n and_o where_o that_o faith_n be_v there_o will_v ever_o be_v mercy_n you_o have_v in_o roman_n 11.29_o that_o the_o gift_n and_o call_n of_o god_n be_v without_o repentance_n but_o among_o all_o the_o gift_n that_o be_v of_o this_o sort_n faith_n be_v one_o of_o the_o chief_a therefore_o it_o can_v be_v revoke_v again_o you_o have_v in_o jude_n 3_o that_o faith_n be_v once_o give_v unto_o the_o saint_n once_o give_v that_o be_v constant_o give_v never_o to_o be_v change_v nor_o utter_o take_v from_o they_o the_o lord_n will_v not_o repent_v he_o of_o this_o gift_n but_o the_o soul_n which_o he_o have_v love_v once_o he_o will_v love_v perpetual_o it_o be_v true_a and_o certain_a that_o the_o sparkle_n of_o faith_n which_o be_v kindle_v in_o the_o heart_n by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n may_v be_v obscure_v and_o smother_v for_o a_o long_a time_n they_o may_v be_v cover_v with_o the_o ash_n of_o our_o own_o corruption_n and_o with_o our_o own_o ill_a deed_n and_o wickedness_n into_o which_o we_o daily_o fall_v it_o be_v true_a that_o the_o effect_n of_o a_o lively_a faith_n will_v be_v interrupt_v and_o that_o thy_o lust_n and_o affection_n will_v prevail_v for_o a_o long_a time_n so_o that_o when_o thou_o look_v on_o thyself_o upon_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n that_o hang_v over_o thy_o soul_n and_o body_n &_o when_o thou_o look_v upon_o thy_o dissolute_a life_n and_o on_o the_o anger_n of_o god_n against_o this_o dissolute_a life_n in_o the_o mind_n in_o the_o heart_n and_o conscience_n of_o he_o that_o have_v so_o smother_v and_o oppress_v his_o faith_n it_o will_v oft_o time_n come_v to_o pass_v in_o his_o own_o judgement_n have_v his_o eye_n fix_v on_o himself_o only_o that_o he_o will_v think_v himself_o to_o be_v a_o reprobate_n to_o be_v a_o outcast_n and_o never_o able_a to_o recover_v mercy_n where_o this_o corruption_n burst_v forth_o in_o this_o gross_a manner_n after_o that_o the_o lord_n have_v call_v thou_o look_v how_o soon_o the_o lord_n begin_v to_o waken_v thou_o again_o incontinent_a thou_o fixe_v thy_o eyâ—s_n upon_o thy_o own_o life_n and_o enterest_n into_o a_o deep_a consideration_n as_o well_o of_o the_o weight_n of_o thy_o sin_n as_o of_o the_o weight_n of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n which_o thou_o see_v follow_v thereupon_o and_o be_v loath_a to_o remit_v these_o cogitation_n to_o whole_o put_v out_o and_o to_o let_v you_o see_v that_o they_o be_v not_o extinguish_v idle_a though_o they_o break_v not_o forth_o in_o the_o outward_a effect_n that_o the_o world_n may_v know_v thou_o to_o be_v a_o faithful_a man_n as_o heretofore_o yet_o these_o sparkle_n be_v not_o idle_a &_o thou_o shall_v find_v they_o not_o to_o be_v idle_a in_o thou_o as_o for_o confirmation_n of_o my_o argument_n that_o howsoever_o our_o body_n be_v let_v loose_a to_o all_o dissolution_n after_o our_o effectual_a call_n within_o we_o in_o our_o soul_n that_o yet_o the_o sparkle_n be_v not_o hunger_n of_o your_o soul_n be_v satisfy_v &_o the_o thirst_n thereof_o quench_v you_o must_v eat_v the_o flesh_n of_o christ_n and_o drink_v his_o blood_n first_o and_o that_o by_o faith_n so_o consider_v the_o one_o by_o the_o other_o look_v to_o what_o use_n bread_n and_o wine_n serve_v to_o thy_o body_n to_o the_o same_o use_v the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n serve_v to_o thy_o soul_n and_o he_o that_o appoint_v the_o one_o to_o serve_v for_o thy_o body_n the_o same_o god_n appoint_v the_o other_o to_o serve_v for_o thy_o soul_n so_o look_v how_o impossible_a it_o be_v for_o thou_o to_o be_v feed_v with_o that_o food_n that_o never_o come_v into_o thy_o mouth_n or_o to_o recover_v health_n by_o those_o drug_n which_o never_o be_v apply_v it_o be_v as_o impossible_a for_o thou_o to_o be_v feed_v by_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n and_o to_o get_v thy_o health_n by_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n except_o thou_o first_o eat_v his_o body_n and_o drink_v his_o blood_n then_o you_o see_v that_o the_o thing_n signify_v in_o the_o lord_n supper_n be_v not_o the_o fruit_n so_o much_o as_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n and_o christ_n jesus_n which_o be_v the_o fountain_n and_o substance_n from_o which_o all_o these_o fruit_n do_v flow_v and_o proceed_v then_o i_o say_v suppose_v christ_n who_o be_v the_o thing_n signify_v one_o remain_v always_o one_o and_o the_o same_o baptism_n because_o it_o be_v meet_a to_o represent_v our_o wash_n with_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n for_o what_o be_v fit_a to_o wash_v with_o then_o water_n so_o there_o be_v nothing_o meet_a to_o wash_v the_o soul_n than_o the_o blood_n of_o christ._n in_o this_o sacrament_n he_o have_v appoint_v bread_n and_o wine_n why_o because_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o meet_a to_o nourish_v the_o body_n than_o bread_n and_o wine_n so_o the_o lord_n have_v not_o choose_v these_o sign_n without_o a_o reason_n as_o the_o sign_n in_o the_o sacrament_n be_v not_o always_o one_o so_o the_o same_o in_o both_o be_v not_o of_o one_o number_n for_o in_o baptism_n we_o have_v but_o one_o element_n in_o this_o sacrament_n we_o have_v two_o element_n now_o what_o be_v the_o reason_n of_o this_o diversity_n two_o that_o the_o lord_n in_o the_o one_o sacrament_n have_v appoint_v two_o sign_n and_o in_o the_o other_o but_o one_o sign_n i_o will_v show_v you_o the_o reason_n he_o have_v appoint_v only_o one_o sign_n in_o baptism_n to_o wit_n water_n because_o water_n be_v sufficient_a enough_o for_o the_o whole_a if_o water_n have_v not_o be_v sufficient_a to_o represent_v the_o thing_n signify_v he_o will_v have_v appoint_v another_o sign_n but_o in_o respect_n that_o water_n do_v the_o turn_n and_o represent_v full_o the_o wash_n of_o our_o soul_n by_o the_o blood_n of_o christ_n what_o need_v then_o have_v we_o of_o any_o sign_n now_o in_o this_o sacrament_n one_o sign_n will_v not_o suffice_v but_o there_o must_v be_v two_o and_o why_o wine_n can_v be_v sufficient_a alone_o neither_o can_v bread_n be_v sufficient_a alone_o for_o he_o

love_n of_o god_n a_o love_n of_o virtue_n and_o a_o hatred_n of_o vice_n where_o ever_o any_o of_o these_o three_o have_v place_n there_o the_o soul_n live_v where_o thou_o find_v thy_o conscience_n refresh_v and_o thy_o soul_n recreate_v from_o the_o great_a terror_n &_o manifold_a pang_n of_o sin_n no_o question_n the_o soul_n live_v for_o this_o be_v the_o effect_n of_o the_o right_a spirit_n and_o this_o be_v the_o right_a peace_n whereof_o the_o world_n be_v ignorant_a that_o pass_v all_o natural_a understanding_n the_o more_o thou_o make_v this_o peace_n to_o grow_v the_o more_z thou_o the_o more_o be_v thou_o assure_v of_o god_n mercy_n so_o then_o will_v thou_o know_v whether_o thy_o faith_n be_v strong_a or_o not_o whether_o thy_o persuasion_n of_o god_n mercy_n be_v sure_a or_o not_o look_v to_o thy_o conscience_n if_o thy_o conscience_n be_v wound_v assure_o thou_o will_v doubt_v and_o if_o thou_o doubte_v thou_o can_v not_o have_v such_o a_o strong_a persuasion_n as_o otherwise_o thou_o will_v have_v if_o thy_o doubt_n be_v remove_v not_o that_o i_o will_v have_v faith_n to_o be_v so_o perfect_a in_o this_o life_n that_o there_o be_v always_o no_o doubt_n join_v with_o it_o i_o require_v not_o that_o perfection_n but_o i_o say_v that_o a_o wound_a conscience_n must_v ever_o doubt_v and_o the_o more_o we_o doubt_v the_o less_o be_v our_o persuasion_n so_o can_v be_v entertain_v but_o by_o their_o expense_n they_o make_v no_o choice_n but_o have_v rather_o lose_v their_o soul_n a_o hundred_o time_n ere_o they_o will_v bestow_v a_o halfpenny_n upon_o the_o church_n this_o be_v true_a in_o the_o great_a part_n so_o it_o be_v the_o lord_n that_o wonderful_o continue_v the_o light_n among_o we_o that_o keep_v a_o face_n of_o a_o ministry_n in_o appear_v not_o to_o be_v the_o thing_n they_o be_v at_o the_o first_o for_o as_o to_o the_o body_n by_o reason_n of_o this_o corruption_n it_o be_v subject_a to_o death_n and_o from_o death_n it_o be_v resolve_v to_o powder_n and_o ash_n as_o to_o the_o soul_n suppose_v the_o substance_n of_o it_o decay_v not_o yet_o you_o see_v the_o quality_n of_o it_o be_v so_o alter_v and_o change_v that_o the_o light_n of_o the_o understanding_n be_v turn_v in_o darkness_n the_o integrity_n of_o the_o will_n in_o wickedness_n the_o uprightness_n and_o intention_n to_o good_a be_v turn_v in_o a_o decline_a from_o good_a and_o in_o a_o bend_a purpose_n to_o do_v evil_a and_o short_o in_o a_o word_n by_o this_o corruption_n we_o have_v lose_v the_o image_n of_o god_n which_o shine_v so_o bright_o in_o we_o in_o our_o creation_n under_o the_o three_o sort_n of_o sin_n i_o understand_v the_o lack_n of_o the_o obedience_n and_o want_v of_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o the_o law_n for_o by_o nature_n in_o our_o first_o creation_n we_o be_v not_o only_o bind_v to_o abstain_v from_o sin_n but_o to_o accomplish_v all_o righteousness_n and_o to_o conform_v we_o to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n perfect_o in_o all_o thing_n now_o by_o this_o corruption_n we_o fail_v in_o this_o point_n as_o well_o also_o as_o in_o the_o rest_n and_o so_o we_o be_v guilty_a of_o all_o sort_n of_o sin_n and_o be_v guilty_a of_o all_o sort_n of_o sin_n of_o necessity_n we_o must_v be_v subject_a to_o death_n and_o condemnation_n for_o the_o reward_n of_o sin_n as_o the_o apostle_n say_v be_v death_n deal_v it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o at_o last_o they_o lose_v their_o conscience_n so_o that_o it_o can_v neither_o accuse_v nor_o excuse_n because_o they_o be_v cast_v asleep_a &_o lie_v in_o this_o dead_a sleep_n till_o they_o be_v waken_v with_o a_o terrible_a waken_n by_o god_n the_o righteous_a judge_n from_o heaven_n take_v heed_n for_o this_o be_v the_o truth_n and_o at_o that_o waken_n he_o shall_v make_v the_o terror_n of_o these_o same_o sin_n which_o if_o they_o have_v follow_v counsel_n they_o may_v have_v eschew_v terrrible_o to_o overwhelm_v they_o now_o the_o conscience_n be_v at_o quietness_n and_o rest_n and_o hold_v thou_o in_o security_n but_o alas_o it_o be_v a_o fester_a security_n the_o inward_a heart_n be_v full_a of_o filth_n which_o filthiness_n sit_v shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o escape_v the_o time_n of_o his_o rise_n senacherib_n abuse_v the_o patience_n and_o long_o suffer_v of_o god_n sit_v but_o he_o escape_v not_o his_o rise_n as_o he_o do_v bear_v he_o witness_v all_o doctrine_n shall_v be_v apply_v to_o our_o present_a estate_n all_o man_n conscience_n be_v asleep_a and_o except_o they_o be_v now_o waken_v in_o time_n purchase_a remission_n of_o thy_o sin_n and_o peace_n in_o the_o body_n and_o blood_n of_o christ_n jesus_n so_o of_o all_o conscience_n the_o bite_a conscience_n be_v not_o the_o worst_a but_o be_v in_o the_o second_o rank_n it_o send_v thou_o to_o seek_v remedy_n only_o of_o this_o beware_v that_o thou_o furnish_v not_o matter_n to_o her_o bite_n by_o increase_v of_o further_a corruption_n but_o ever_o cast_v out_o sin_n whereby_o god_n be_v offend_v and_o this_o bite_a nourish_v and_o in_o the_o end_n thou_o shall_v find_v a_o true_a pacification_n and_o a_o taste_n of_o the_o right_a peace_n that_o flow_v from_o christ_n jesus_n which_o peace_n pass_v all_o understanding_n to_o come_v to_o the_o particular_a the_o lord_n be_v not_o rise_v as_o yet_o in_o this_o country_n albeit_o he_o have_v sit_v long_o and_o why_o have_v he_o sit_v but_o to_o see_v if_o his_o enemy_n will_v repent_v and_o have_v this_o take_a effect_n no_o for_o he_o have_v not_o great_a enemy_n in_o any_o part_n then_o the_o great_a man_n in_o this_o country_n where_o his_o word_n be_v so_o clear_o preach_v so_o that_o the_o great_a the_o knowledge_n be_v the_o great_a be_v the_o contempt_n and_o the_o great_a the_o contempt_n be_v the_o heavy_a must_v the_o judgement_n be_v that_o abide_v they_o now_o in_o all_o this_o time_n of_o the_o lord_n sit_v what_o be_v they_o do_v they_o be_v burn_v and_o scald_a slay_v and_o murder_v and_o use_v all_o kind_n of_o oppression_n and_o rage_v so_o as_o if_o there_o be_v not_o a_o king_n in_o israel_n well_o the_o lord_n sit_v not_o to_o this_o end_n that_o they_o shall_v abuse_v his_o patience_n he_o sit_v not_o that_o they_o shall_v be_v confirm_v in_o their_o cruelty_n that_o they_o shall_v lose_v their_o knowledge_n or_o think_v that_o either_o there_o be_v not_o god_n or_o god_n be_v become_v like_o themselves_o always_o i_o say_v this_o be_v not_o the_o end_n wherefore_o he_o sit_v but_o he_o sit_v only_o to_o this_o
as_o if_o he_o have_v offend_v no_o creature_n he_o address_v he_o to_o god_n and_o crave_v pardon_n and_o mercy_n for_o his_o sin_n of_o he_o only_o so_o this_o be_v the_o true_a repentance_n where_o man_n and_o woman_n although_o they_o have_v offend_v the_o creature_n yet_o they_o run_v to_o god_n only_o to_o seek_v remission_n and_o indeed_o this_o be_v the_o right_a way_n for_o why_o it_o be_v only_a god_n that_o can_v forgive_v they_o their_o sin_n although_o they_o have_v offend_v man_n &_o woman_n there_o be_v no_o man_n nor_o woman_n that_o be_v able_a to_o purge_v theâ—r_a conscience_n to_o take_v away_o the_o guiltiness_n of_o sin_n in_o their_o conscience_n it_o be_v only_a god_n who_o by_o the_o virtue_n of_o the_o blood_n of_o his_o son_n do_v purge_v the_o conscience_n therefore_o they_o address_v they_o to_o god_n only_o proper_o also_o it_o be_v he_o who_o they_o have_v offend_v for_o as_o for_o man_n and_o woman_n they_o may_v escape_v their_o eye_n but_o it_o be_v not_o possible_a that_o they_o can_v escape_v the_o all-seeing_a eye_n of_o god_n who_o see_v the_o sin_n of_o the_o heart_n as_o well_o as_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o body_n therefore_o in_o respect_n of_o his_o all-seeing_a eye_n it_o become_v they_o special_o to_o have_v recourse_n to_o he_o &_o to_o address_v they_o to_o he_o only_o this_o be_v call_v the_o godly_a sorrow_n in_o this_o of_o the_o spirit_n which_o work_v this_o dolour_n sin_n be_v mortify_v it_o slay_v the_o lust_n and_o affection_n that_o be_v in_o i_o it_o take_v away_o the_o strength_n and_o power_n of_o sin_n within_o i_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o which_o slaughter_n it_o be_v call_v mortification_n for_o christ_n not_o only_o overcome_v sin_n and_o death_n &_o hell_n by_o virtue_n of_o his_o death_n his_o power_n and_o death_n have_v lose_v his_o sting_n so_o that_o whosoever_o can_v get_v hold_n of_o christ_n and_o his_o power_n by_o the_o virtue_n thereof_o sin_n shall_v die_v in_o he_o and_o
