persuade_v they_o that_o the_o fruit_n thereof_o be_v good_a for_o food_n and_o indeed_o it_o be_v very_o desirable_a to_o their_o eye_n and_o promise_v fair_a to_o make_v they_o everlasting_o wise_a but_o still_o fail_v q._n what_o be_v the_o forbid_a fruit_n a._n it_o be_v knowledge_n without_o life_n knowledge_n in_o the_o earthly_a part_n knowledge_n acquire_v from_o below_o not_o give_v from_o above_o this_o promise_v to_o make_v man_n as_o god_n and_o to_o give_v they_o the_o ability_n of_o discern_v and_o distinguish_v between_o good_a and_o evil_n which_o be_v god_n peculiar_a property_n eat_v of_o this_o fruit_n undo_v adam_n undo_v the_o gentile_n undo_v the_o jew_n undo_v the_o christian_n they_o all_o feed_n on_o the_o tree_n of_o knowledge_n and_o depart_v from_o the_o life_n in_o their_o several_a dispensation_n q._n how_o do_v this_o fruit_n undo_v man_n a._n the_o wisdom_n and_o knowledge_n which_o they_o thus_o gather_v and_o feed_v upon_o pervert_v they_o make_v they_o wise_a in_o the_o wrong_a part_n exalt_v they_o against_o the_o life_n dull_v the_o true_a appetite_n and_o increase_v the_o wrong_a appetite_n in_o so_o much_o as_o that_o there_o be_v not_o so_o much_o as_o a_o desire_n in_o they_o after_o god_n in_o truth_n but_o only_o to_o get_v knowledge_n and_o wisdom_n from_o what_o they_o can_v comprehend_v by_o this_o mean_n whatsoever_o be_v afterward_o ordain_v to_o life_n become_v death_n to_o man_n thus_o the_o gentile_n like_v not_o to_o retain_v god_n in_o their_o knowledge_n but_o fall_v by_o their_o dispensation_n provoke_v god_n to_o cast_v they_o off_o and_o give_v they_o up_o to_o the_o vanity_n of_o their_o imagination_n and_o thus_o the_o jew_n who_o god_n then_o choose_v fall_v likewise_o by_o their_o dispensation_n god_n for_o this_o cause_n give_v they_o up_o to_o their_o own_o heart_n lust_n and_o reject_v they_o from_o be_v a_o people_n and_o the_o gentile_n who_o god_n ingraft_v into_o the_o true_a olive_n in_o the_o jew_n stead_n they_o also_o after_o the_o same_o manner_n fall_v by_o their_o dispensation_n thus_o each_o of_o these_o fall_v by_o gather_v wisdom_n from_o the_o letter_n but_o miss_v of_o the_o life_n in_o every_o of_o these_o dispensation_n q._n what_o be_v the_o food_n which_o man_n shall_v feed_v on_o a._n the_o tree_n of_o life_n the_o word_n which_o live_v and_o abide_v for_o ever_o
