as_o any_o ceremony_n be_v the_o matter_n of_o such_o obedience_n so_o far_o it_o be_v by_o consequence_n in_o its_o proper_a degree_n also_o necessary_a although_o it_o be_v no_o essential_a part_n of_o religion_n nor_o be_v there_o any_o thing_n herein_o which_o be_v any_o way_n destructive_a of_o christian_a liberty_n but_o that_o which_o he_o shall_v have_v prove_v be_v that_o we_o esteem_v our_o ceremony_n to_o be_v necessary_a to_o salvation_n even_o antecedent_o to_o the_o command_n of_o the_o church_n and_o the_o law_n that_o therefore_o our_o author_n argument_n which_o he_o here_o urge_v be_v all_o of_o they_o wide_o from_o the_o point_n in_o controversy_n be_v as_o evident_a as_o may_v be_v but_o because_o in_o some_o of_o they_o he_o have_v a_o sly_a design_n not_o so_o much_o to_o prove_v what_o he_o have_v just_a before_o undertake_v as_o to_o render_v the_o establish_v church_n as_o black_a and_o odious_a as_o may_v be_v in_o the_o eye_n of_o his_o party_n it_o will_v be_v necessary_a before_o i_o proceed_v to_o wipe_v off_o that_o dirt_n which_o here_o he_o rake_n together_o to_o throw_v at_o she_o in_o the_o first_o place_n then_o i_o must_v tell_v he_o as_o appear_v to_o be_v well-meaning_a man_n because_o it_o ought_v ever_o to_o be_v presume_v that_o the_o intention_n of_o the_o lawmaker_n be_v not_o or_o ought_v not_o to_o have_v be_v that_o such_o sort_n of_o man_n as_o they_o shall_v be_v severe_o deal_v with_o and_o if_o any_o particular_a man_n have_v ever_o press_v the_o execution_n of_o our_o ecclesiastical_a law_n beyond_o this_o let_v they_o answer_v for_o themselves_o for_o i_o be_o sure_a i_o shall_v never_o appear_v in_o their_o defence_n but_o where_o there_o be_v most_o strong_a presumption_n that_o it_o be_v not_o real_a tenderness_n of_o conscience_n but_o some_o other_o principle_n which_o prompt_v a_o man_n not_o only_a himself_o to_o refuse_v obedience_n to_o lawful_a authority_n but_o also_o to_o persuade_v as_o many_o as_o he_o can_v to_o join_v with_o he_o therein_o where_o a_o man_n can_v without_o remorse_n or_o scuple_n break_v some_o of_o the_o most_o know_a law_n of_o god_n can_v confident_o vent_v such_o slander_n and_o calumny_n as_o be_v not_o only_o contrary_a to_o charity_n but_o also_o to_o truth_n itself_o and_o can_v pervert_v and_o misquote_v not_o only_o the_o write_n of_o a_o man_n but_o even_o the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o yet_o all_o this_o while_n shall_v refuse_v to_o obey_v such_o command_n of_o authority_n as_o he_o can_v show_v to_o be_v either_o express_o or_o by_o good_a consequence_n contrary_a to_o any_o law_n or_o command_n of_o god_n which_o i_o have_v plain_o show_v to_o be_v our_o author_n case_n if_o such_o a_o man_n as_o this_o shall_v yet_o plead_v the_o tenderness_n of_o his_o conscience_n for_o refuse_v conformity_n to_o the_o law_n of_o the_o land_n which_o yet_o it_o seem_v be_v tough_a enough_o to_o dispense_v with_o
