course_n to_o be_v the_o most_o accurse_a thing_n in_o the_o world_n worse_o than_o any_o misery_n than_o any_o beggary_n torment_n or_o disgrace_v whatsoever_o belove_a till_o we_o have_v our_o spirit_n wrought_v upon_o to_o this_o high_a esteem_n of_o good_a thing_n &_o to_o a_o base_a undervalue_v of_o all_o thing_n else_o we_o shall_v rebel_v against_o christ_n first_o or_o last_o for_o faithful_a creator_n now_o i_o beseech_v you_o consider_v how_o near_o it_o concern_v we_o all_o to_o be_v thorough_o acquaint_v with_o the_o practice_n of_o this_o duty_n god_n know_v what_o extremity_n we_o may_v fall_v into_o certain_o in_o what_o condition_n so_o ever_o we_o be_v either_o public_a or_o private_a whether_o in_o contagion_n and_o infection_n or_o war_n and_o desolation_n happy_a be_v we_o if_o we_o have_v a_o god_n to_o go_v to_o if_o we_o have_v he_o to_o retire_v to_o in_o heaven_n &_o a_o good_a conscience_n to_o retire_v to_o in_o ourselves_o we_o may_v rest_v secure_a 2â—4_n though_o the_o earth_n be_v remove_v and_o the_o mountain_n be_v carry_v into_o the_o midst_n of_o the_o sâ—a_n yet_o we_o shall_v be_v safe_a that_o be_v though_o the_o order_n of_o nature_n be_v confound_v yet_o there_o be_v a_o river_n shall_v refresh_v the_o house_n of_o god_n there_o be_v chamber_n of_o divine_a protection_n that_o the_o christian_n enter_v into_o as_o the_o prophet_n say_v 20._o enter_v into_o thy_o chamber_n and_o god_n be_v his_o habitation_n still_o if_o a_o christian_a have_v no_o shelter_n in_o the_o world_n yet_o he_o have_v a_o abide_a place_n in_o god_n continual_o as_o god_n dwell_v in_o he_o so_o he_o dwell_v in_o god_n satan_n and_o all_o other_o the_o enemy_n of_o man_n must_v break_v through_o god_n before_o they_o can_v come_v to_o we_o when_o once_o we_o commit_v ourselves_o to_o he_o as_o to_o a_o tower_n and_o habitation_n and_o enter_v into_o he_o as_o into_o a_o hide_v place_n the_o enemy_n must_v wrong_v he_o before_o they_o can_v hurt_v we_o so_o bless_v a_o estate_n it_o be_v to_o be_v in_o god_n have_v commend_v our_o soul_n to_o he_o as_o unto_o a_o faithful_a creator_n but_o we_o see_v many_o of_o god_n dear_a child_n that_o commit_v themselves_o to_o his_o care_n and_o protection_n miscarry_v object_n and_o go_v by_o the_o worst_a in_o the_o world_n belove_a answ._n it_o be_v not_o so_o for_o when_o they_o commit_v themselves_o to_o god_n they_o be_v under_o safety_n and_o if_o he_o keep_v they_o not_o out_o of_o trouble_n yet_o he_o will_v preserve_v they_o in_o trouble_n 40._o i_o will_v be_v with_o thou_o in_o the_o â—ire_n and_o in_o the_o water_n say_v god_n he_o say_v not_o i_o will_v keep_v you_o out_o of_o the_o fire_n and_o out_o of_o the_o water_n for_o he_o bring_v many_o holy_a martyr_n into_o it_o some_o be_v drown_v some_o burn_v etc._n etc._n though_o god_n will_v not_o keep_v we_o out_o of_o trouble_n yet_o he_o will_v preserve_v our_o spirit_n in_o trouble_n nay_o god_n many_o time_n by_o a_o small_a trouble_n preserve_v we_o from_o a_o great_a even_o the_o suffering_n of_o the_o godly_a be_v oft_o preservation_n to_o they_o be_v not_o jonah_n preserve_v by_o the_o whale_n what_o have_v become_v of_o he_o if_o that_o have_v not_o swallow_v he_o up_o a_o whale_n that_o one_o will_v have_v think_v shall_v be_v a_o mean_n to_o destroy_v he_o be_v a_o mean_n to_o carry_v he_o to_o the_o coast_n and_o bring_v he_o safe_o to_o land_n again_o god_n seem_v for_o a_o time_n indeed_o to_o neglect_v his_o child_n when_o they_o commit_v themselves_o unto_o he_o but_o mark_v the_o issue_n all_o the_o work_n of_o god_n be_v beautiful_a in_o their_o season_n he_o suffer_v they_o it_o may_v be_v a_o long_a time_n to_o be_v in_o danger_n and_o trouble_n till_o he_o have_v perfect_v the_o work_n of_o mortification_n in_o their_o heart_n and_o crucify_v their_o confidence_n in_o earthly_a thing_n till_o he_o have_v make_v they_o more_o sensible_a of_o the_o evil_a of_o sin_n and_o watchful_a against_o it_o but_o wait_v a_o while_n and_o you_o shall_v see_v 37._o that_o the_o end_n of_o the_o righteous_a man_n be_v peace_n god_n presence_n and_o assistance_n to_o support_v his_o child_n in_o trouble_n be_v invincible_a they_o have_v gladness_n and_o comfort_n that_o we_o woâ—e_n not_o of_o they_o commit_v the_o safety_n of_o their_o soul_n to_o god_n and_o he_o seem_v to_o neglect_v they_o if_o we_o look_v to_o their_o outward_a man_n but_o they_o have_v a_o paradise_n in_o their_o conscience_n god_n preserve_v their_o soul_n from_o sin_n and_o their_o conscience_n from_o despair_n they_o have_v a_o invisible_a protection_n there_o be_v a_o sense_n about_o job_n that_o the_o devil_n see_v and_o a_o guard_n of_o angel_n that_o elias_n see_v and_o that_o his_o servant_n see_v afterward_o wicked_a man_n see_v not_o the_o guard_n of_o spirit_n that_o be_v about_o the_o child_n of_o god_n as_o christ_n say_v they_o have_v meat_n the_o world_n know_v not_o of_o they_o feed_v on_o hide_a comfort_n as_o for_o carnal_a man_n that_o do_v not_o commit_v themselves_o to_o god_n they_o have_v no_o preservation_n but_o rather_o a_o reservation_n to_o a_o further_a evil_n pharaoh_n be_v keep_v from_o the_o ten_o plague_n but_o be_v drown_v in_o the_o sea_n at_o last_o and_o sodom_n be_v keep_v by_o abraham_n he_o fight_v for_o they_o but_o yet_o it_o be_v destroy_v with_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n afterward_o let_v we_o then_o try_v our_o trust_n in_o god_n those_o that_o intend_v to_o embark_v themselves_o and_o their_o estate_n in_o a_o ship_n will_v be_v sure_a to_o try_v it_o first_o this_o commit_v of_o our_o soul_n to_o god_n must_v be_v our_o ship_n to_o carry_v we_o through_o the_o wave_n of_o this_o troublesome_a world_n to_o the_o heavenly_a canaan_n of_o rest_n and_o peace_n we_o shall_v therefore_o search_v and_o prove_v the_o same_o whether_o it_o be_v indeed_o safe_a and_o sound_a able_a to_o support_v our_o soul_n in_o the_o evil_a day_n and_o not_o leak_n and_o prove_v insufficient_a for_o we_o those_o that_o commit_v themselves_o to_o god_n aright_o aright_o be_v far_o from_o tempt_v his_o majesty_n trial_o god_n will_v be_v trust_v but_o not_o tempt_v what_o though_o thing_n fall_v not_o out_o according_a to_o thy_o expectation_n yet_o wait_v thou_o and_o think_v god_n have_v further_a end_n than_o thou_o know_v of_o god_n will_v do_v thing_n in_o the_o order_n of_o his_o providence_n therefore_o if_o we_o neglect_v that_o it_o be_v our_o own_o fault_n if_o he_o do_v not_o help_v we_o if_o christ_n have_v commit_v his_o health_n to_o god_n and_o have_v cast_v himself_o down_o from_o the_o pinnacle_n what_o a_o act_n have_v this_o be_v but_o he_o will_v not_o so_o tempt_v the_o almighty_a neither_o shall_v we_o unadvised_o run_v into_o danger_n but_o serve_v his_o providence_n upon_o all_o occasion_n god_n use_v our_o endeavour_n to_o this_o very_a end_n he_o save_v we_o not_o always_o immediate_o but_o by_o put_v wisdom_n into_o our_o heart_n to_o use_v lawful_a mean_n and_o use_v those_o mean_n he_o will_v save_v we_o in_o they_o a_o christian_a therefore_o shall_v be_v in_o a_o continual_a dependence_n upon_o god_n and_o say_v i_o will_v use_v these_o mean_n god_n may_v bless_v they_o if_o not_o i_o will_v trust_v he_o he_o be_v not_o tie_v to_o the_o use_n of_o mean_n though_o i_o be_v again_o trial_o those_o that_o commit_v their_o soul_n or_o any_o thing_n to_o god_n find_v themselves_o quiet_v therein_o be_v it_o not_o so_o among_o man_n if_o a_o man_n commit_v a_o jewel_n to_o a_o trusty_a friend_n be_v he_o not_o secure_v present_o have_v we_o not_o god_n word_n and_o faithfulness_n engage_v that_o he_o will_v not_o leave_v we_o nor_o forsake_v we_o but_o continue_v our_o alsufficient_a god_n and_o portion_n to_o our_o life_n end_v why_o then_o be_v we_o disquiet_v those_o that_o be_v full_a of_o care_n and_o fear_n may_v talk_v their_o pleasure_n but_o they_o never_o yet_o have_v any_o true_a confidence_n in_o god_n for_o faith_n be_v a_o quiet_v grace_n it_o still_v
from_o sinful_a work_n this_o we_o may_v build_v on_o that_o either_o god_n will_v preserve_v we_o in_o life_n or_o if_o we_o die_v he_o will_v preserve_v we_o in_o death_n to_o his_o heavenly_a kingdom_n and_o sometime_o god_n preserve_v by_o not_o preserve_v from_o death_n for_o indeed_o death_n keep_v a_o man_n from_o all_o danger_n whatsoever_o he_o be_v out_o of_o all_o gunshot_n when_o he_o be_v once_o dead_a death_n be_v a_o deliverance_n and_o a_o preservation_n of_o itself_o it_o send_v a_o man_n to_o heaven_n straight_o and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n know_v what_o he_o say_v the_o lord_n will_v preserve_v i_o to_o his_o heavenly_a kingdom_n that_o be_v he_o will_v preserve_v i_o till_o i_o be_v possess_v of_o heaven_n he_o will_v go_v along_o with_o i_o in_o all_o the_o passage_n of_o my_o life_n he_o will_v carry_v i_o through_o all_o and_o bring_v i_o thither_o at_o last_o as_o the_o angel_n that_o strike_v off_o peter_n bolt_n shine_v in_o the_o prison_n 7._o this_o heavenly_a kingdom_n be_v unto_o which_o s._n paul_n hope_v to_o be_v preserve_v observe_v brief_o thus_o much_o 1._o it_o be_v a_o kingdom_n of_o all_o condition_n the_o free_a 2._o the_o most_o glorious_a 3._o the_o most_o abundant_a in_o all_o supply_n 4._o it_o be_v a_o heavenly_a kingdom_n 5._o it_o be_v a_o everlasting_a kingdom_n thing_n the_o near_o the_o heaven_n they_o be_v kingdom_n the_o pure_a they_o be_v 1._o heaven_n be_v a_o most_o holy_a kingdom_n no_o uncleanness_n can_v enter_v there_o 2._o it_o be_v a_o large_a kingdom_n and_o 3._o a_o everlasting_a kingdom_n other_o man_n kingdom_n determine_v with_o their_o person_n perhaps_o they_o may_v live_v to_o outlive_v their_o glory_n in_o the_o world_n as_o nero_n do_v the_o king_n that_o paul_n be_v under_o now_o when_o he_o write_v this_o epistle_n who_o come_v to_o a_o base_a end_n but_o this_o kingdom_n can_v never_o be_v shake_v god_n preservation_n shall_v end_v in_o eternal_a glory_n here_o be_v a_o special_a ground_n to_o god_n child_n of_o perseverance_n in_o welldoing_a 1_o what_o do_v god_n undertake_v even_o from_o himself_o to_o deliver_v we_o from_o evil_a work_n which_o may_v endanger_v our_o salvation_n and_o to_o preserve_v we_o until_o he_o have_v put_v we_o into_o heaven_n where_o be_v the_o popish_a doctrine_n of_o fall_v away_o then_o object_n oh_o but_o i_o may_v sin_v and_o so_o fall_v away_o sol._n i_o but_o god_n will_v deliver_v we_o from_o evil_a work_n he_o take_v away_o that_o objection_n he_o that_o keep_v heaven_n for_o we_o keep_v we_o for_o heaven_n till_o he_o have_v put_v we_o into_o possession_n of_o it_o we_o be_v keep_v we_o be_v guard_v as_o the_o word_n be_v by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n to_o salvation_n 5._o salvation_n be_v keep_v for_o have_v merit_n of_o congruity_n that_o it_o befit_v the_o goodness_n of_o god_n when_o we_o do_v what_o we_o can_v that_o we_o shall_v have_v grace_n 2._o when_o we_o be_v in_o the_o state_n of_o grace_n they_o will_v have_v merit_n of_o condignity_n but_o how_o can_v that_o be_v when_o as_o free_v grace_n run_v along_o in_o all_o god_n preserve_v we_o from_o evil_a work_n and_o preserve_v we_o to_o his_o heavenly_a kingdom_n of_o his_o mere_a love_n and_o mercy_n where_o then_o be_v the_o merit_n of_o man_n indeed_o we_o do_v good_a when_o we_o do_v good_a but_o god_n enable_v we_o we_o speak_v to_o the_o praise_n of_o god_n but_o he_o open_v our_o mouth_n we_o believe_v but_o god_n draw_v our_o heart_n to_o it_o as_o austin_n say_v we_o move_v but_o god_n move_v we_o i_o beseech_v you_o observe_v further_o 3_o here_o how_o complete_a god_n favour_n be_v to_o his_o he_o deal_v like_o a_o god_n that_o be_v full_o and_o eternal_o with_o his_o child_n if_o he_o deliver_v it_o be_v from_o the_o great_a evil_n if_o he_o preserve_v it_o be_v to_o the_o great_a good_a who_o will_v not_o serve_v such_o a_o master_n o_o the_o baseness_n of_o the_o vile_a heart_n of_o man_n that_o be_v a_o slave_n to_o inferior_a thing_n and_o afraid_a to_o displease_v man_n never_o consider_v what_o a_o bless_a condition_n it_o be_v to_o be_v under_o the_o government_n of_o a_o gracious_a god_n that_o will_v keep_v we_o from_o ill_a if_o it_o be_v for_o our_o good_a for_o ever_o outward_o from_o evil_a work_n inward_o from_o the_o terror_n of_o a_o ill_a conscience_n that_o will_v preserve_v we_o here_o in_o this_o world_n and_o give_v we_o heaven_n when_o we_o have_v do_v i_o beseech_v you_o let_v this_o complete_a and_o full_a deal_n of_o god_n quicken_v we_o to_o a_o holy_a courage_n and_o constancy_n in_o his_o service_n and_o see_v here_o a_o point_n of_o heavenly_a wisdom_n 4._o to_o look_v when_o we_o be_v in_o any_o danger_n with_o the_o apostle_n to_o the_o heavenly_a kingdom_n when_o we_o be_v sick_a look_v not_o at_o death_n paul_n care_v not_o for_o that_o but_o say_v he_o the_o lord_n will_v preserve_v i_o to_o his_o kingdom_n he_o look_v to_o the_o bank_n of_o the_o shore_n as_o a_o man_n that_o go_v through_o a_o river_n have_v his_o eye_n still_o on_o the_o shore_n so_o the_o apostle_n have_v his_o eye_n fix_v upon_o heaven_n still_o i_o beseech_v you_o therefore_o in_o all_o danger_n and_o distress_n whatsoever_o if_o you_o will_v keep_v your_o soul_n without_o discouragement_n as_o you_o shall_v be_v much_o in_o heaven_n in_o your_o thought_n mind_v the_o thing_n above_o and_o converse_v with_o god_n in_o your_o spirit_n look_v to_o the_o crown_n that_o be_v hold_v out_o to_o we_o let_v our_o mind_n be_v in_o heaven_n before_o conscience_n what_o a_o ground_n of_o patience_n be_v this_o patience_n be_v too_o mean_a a_o word_n what_o a_o ground_n of_o joy_n and_o triumph_v be_v it_o we_o rejoice_v under_o the_o hope_n of_o glory_n rom._n 5._o 2._o a_o christian_n shall_v triumph_v in_o soul_n over_o all_o evil_n whatsoever_o and_o be_v as_o the_o apostle_n faith_n more_o than_o a_o conqueror_n 37._o consider_v that_o god_n will_v be_v present_a with_o he_o all_o his_o life_n long_o and_o after_o that_o bring_v he_o to_o a_o everlasting_a kingdom_n what_o a_o encouragement_n be_v this_o heaven_n be_v holy_a and_o shall_v we_o not_o fit_v ourselves_o for_o that_o bless_a estate_n there_o be_v much_o holiness_n require_v for_o heaven_n the_o sinful_a wicked_a malicious_a poisonful_a world_n lay_v reproach_n upon_o holiness_n 24._o but_o without_o it_o no_o man_n shall_v see_v god_n do_v that_o man_n believe_v he_o shall_v obtain_v a_o heavenly_a kingdom_n who_o never_o sit_v himself_o with_o holiness_n lay_v up_o our_o jewel_n &_o precious_a thing_n so_o god_n lay_v up_o in_o his_o church_n whatsoever_o be_v precious_a his_o praise_n his_o grace_n yea_o whatsoever_o be_v good_a and_o of_o high_a esteem_n that_o he_o bestow_v upon_o his_o church_n and_o people_n for_o the_o further_a clear_v of_o this_o we_o must_v know_v that_o the_o church_n and_o child_n of_o god_n be_v say_v to_o be_v his_o house_n either_o 1._o as_o a_o family_n be_v say_v to_o be_v house_n or_o 2._o as_o the_o fabric_n or_o building_n be_v say_v to_o be_v the_o house_n first_o house_n a_o man_n provide_v for_o his_o family_n and_o he_o that_o neglect_v it_o be_v worse_a than_o a_o insidell_n so_o do_v god_n provide_v for_o his_o church_n the_o very_a dragon_n and_o ostrige_n the_o worst_a of_o the_o creature_n all_o have_v some_o respect_n to_o their_o young_a one_o much_o more_o will_v god_n provide_v for_o his_o own_o and_o as_o a_o man_n protect_v his_o house_n from_o all_o enemy_n so_o will_v god_n protect_v his_o church_n and_o people_n and_o be_v a_o wall_n of_o fire_n and_o a_o defence_n round_o about_o they_o now_o there_o be_v a_o mixture_n in_o the_o church_n as_o in_o a_o house_n of_o good_a and_o bad_a vessel_n but_o the_o godly_a be_v especial_o god_n house_n as_o for_o hypocrite_n and_o false_a professor_n they_o be_v no_o more_o in_o the_o house_n than_o the_o excrement_n be_v in_o the_o body_n they_o be_v in_o the_o body_n but_o not_o of_o the_o body_n and_o therefore_o as_o ishmael_n they_o must_v be_v cast_v out_o at_o length_n and_o as_o in_o every_o house_n or_o building_n there_o be_v some_o open_a place_n closet_n and_o some_o private_a closert_n etc._n etc._n so_o be_v it_o here_o god_n have_v his_o private_a chamber_n and_o his_o retire_a place_n which_o be_v the_o heart_n of_o every_o true_a christian_a he_o count_v it_o not_o sufficient_a to_o dwell_v in_o his_o house_n at_o large_a but_o he_o will_v dwell_v in_o the_o best_a part_n of_o it_o the_o heart_n and_o the_o affection_n therefore_o he_o knock_v at_o the_o door_n of_o our_o heart_n for_o entrance_n 20._o and_o his_o best_a child_n be_v glad_a he_o will_v reside_v in_o they_o they_o set_v he_o up_o in_o the_o high_a place_n of_o their_o soul_n and_o set_v a_o crown_n upon_o he_o their_o desire_n be_v that_o god_n may_v govern_v and_o rule_v their_o whole_a conversation_n they_o wash_v on_o the_o german_n the_o german_a sea_n etc._n etc._n it_o have_v divers_a name_n of_o the_o divers_a country_n which_o it_o pass_v thorough_a nevertheless_o there_o be_v still_o but_o one_o main_a sea_n so_o it_o be_v with_o the_o house_n of_o god_n god_n have_v but_o one_o true_a church_n in_o the_o whole_a world_n which_o spread_v itself_o into_o divers_a nation_n and_o country_n upon_o the_o face_n of_o the_o earth_n one_o branch_n whereof_o be_v among_o we_o at_o this_o day_n how_o prove_v you_o that_o quest._n do_v not_o christ_n dwell_v among_o we_o by_o his_o ordinance_n answ._n &_o by_o his_o spirit_n work_v effectual_o in_o the_o same_o if_o a_o house_n be_v not_o in_o perfect_a repair_n be_v it_o not_o still_o a_o house_n i_o beseech_v you_o let_v we_o rather_o word_n of_o life_n the_o word_n of_o the_o kingdom_n belove_a i_o beseech_v you_o lay_v these_o thing_n to_o heart_n for_o whensoever_o your_o refuse_n the_o gospel_n of_o christ_n you_o refuse_v capable_a of_o this_o sin_n gospel_n for_o how_o can_v they_o sin_v by_o infidelity_n and_o unthankfulness_n for_o the_o gospel_n that_o never_o have_v it_o and_o therefore_o negative_a infidelity_n be_v as_o it_o be_v no_o sin_n in_o comparison_n 22._o if_o i_o have_v not_o come_v among_o they_o they_o have_v have_v no_o sin_n say_v christ._n negative_a i_o call_v that_o when_o as_o man_n believe_v not_o have_v no_o mean_n as_o infidel_n and_o heathen_n etc._n etc._n and_o therefore_o as_o they_o sin_n without_o the_o gospel_n so_o they_o shall_v be_v damn_v without_o the_o gospel_n the_o rule_n of_o their_o damnation_n shall_v be_v the_o law_n of_o nature_n write_v in_o their_o heart_n for_o this_o be_v a_o undoubted_a truth_n no_o man_n ever_o live_v answerable_a to_o his_o of_o special_a use_n and_o consequence_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o trouble_n he_o may_v allege_v this_o and_o it_o bind_v god_n to_o help_v he_o we_o see_v great_a one_o when_o they_o raise_v any_o though_o perhaps_o there_o be_v little_a merit_n in_o they_o yet_o they_o call_v they_o their_o creature_n and_o this_o be_v a_o move_a argument_n with_o such_o to_o polish_v their_o own_o work_n still_o and_o not_o to_o desert_v they_o will_v it_o not_o be_v a_o prevail_a argument_n with_o god_n then_o for_o a_o christian_n to_o plead_v with_o he_o lord_n thou_o have_v raise_v i_o out_o of_o nothing_o yea_o out_o of_o a_o state_n worse_o than_o nothing_o i_o be_o thy_o poor_a creature_n forsake_v not_o the_o work_n of_o thy_o own_o hand_n we_o may_v see_v what_o a_o fearful_a thing_n which_o purpose_n we_o shall_v much_o eye_n the_o sweet_a promise_n and_o invitation_n of_o the_o gospel_n allure_a we_o to_o accept_v of_o mercy_n and_o deliverance_n from_o sin_n and_o death_n as_o come_v unto_o i_o all_o you_o that_o be_v weary_a and_o heavy_a lade_v etc._n etc._n and_o so_o cast_v the_o guilt_n of_o our_o soul_n upon_o god_n to_o pardon_v first_o and_o then_o to_o sanctify_v as_o they_o be_v never_o yet_o in_o the_o state_n of_o grace_n or_o reconciliation_n with_o he_o nor_o never_o have_v any_o divorce_n make_v between_o they_o and_o their_o sin_n and_o consequent_o never_o any_o league_n between_o god_n and_o their_o soul_n to_o this_o day_n belove_a when_o once_o a_o man_n have_v alienate_v his_o soul_n from_o god_n by_o sin_n he_o have_v then_o no_o more_o command_n of_o it_o for_o the_o present_a it_o be_v quite_o out_o of_o his_o power_n now_o when_o we_o will_v commit_v our_o soul_n to_o god_n aright_o we_o must_v first_o commit_v they_o to_o he_o to_o pardon_v the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n in_o they_o when_o this_o be_v do_v god_n will_v give_v we_o our_o soul_n again_o and_o then_o they_o may_v true_o be_v say_v to_o be_v our_o own_o and_o not_o before_o it_o be_v the_o happiness_n of_o a_o christian_n that_o he_o be_v not_o his_o own_o but_o that_o whether_o he_o live_v or_o die_v he_o be_v the_o lord_n in_o the_o second_o place_n 2._o we_o must_v labour_v to_o find_v ourselves_o in_o covenant_n with_o god_n that_o be_v to_o find_v he_o make_v good_a his_o promise_n to_o we_o and_o ourselves_o make_v good_a our_o promise_n to_o he_o for_o a_o man_n can_v commit_v himself_o to_o god_n unless_o he_o find_v a_o disposition_n in_o his_o heart_n to_o be_v faithful_a to_o he_o there_o be_v a_o passive_a fidelity_n and_o a_o active_a 1._o passive_a faithfulness_n be_v in_o the_o thing_n that_o we_o give_v trust_v unto_o as_o such_o a_o one_o be_v a_o sure_a trusty_a man_n therefore_o i_o will_v rely_v upon_o he_o 2._o active_a faithfulness_n in_o the_o soul_n be_v when_o we_o cast_v ourselves_o upon_o a_o man_n that_o be_v trusty_a and_o depend_v upon_o he_o the_o more_o a_o man_n know_v another_o to_o be_v faithful_a the_o more_o faithful_a he_o will_v be_v in_o trust_v of_o he_o and_o thus_o we_o must_v trust_v god_n if_o ever_o we_o expect_v any_o good_a at_o his_o hand_n and_o our_o dependence_n on_o he_o bind_v he_o have_v promise_v to_o return_v with_o advantage_n whatsoever_o we_o give_v that_o way_n he_o have_v secret_a way_n of_o his_o own_o to_o do_v we_o good_a that_o we_o know_v not_o of_o a_o man_n be_v from_o the_o performance_n of_o this_o duty_n 3._o as_o namely_o carnal_a wit_n and_o policy_n and_o carnal_a will_n and_o affection_n etc._n etc._n there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o self-denial_n to_o be_v learn_v before_o we_o can_v go_v out_o of_o ourselves_o and_o commit_v all_o to_o god_n ere_o we_o can_v cast_v ourselves_o into_o his_o arm_n and_o lay_v ourselves_o at_o his_o foot_n therefore_o take_v heed_n that_o we_o be_v not_o rule_v either_o by_o our_o own_o
to_o reconcile_v justice_n and_o mercy_n to_o christ_n but_o what_o stir_v up_o this_o wisdom_n of_o god_n oh_o bowel_n of_o compassion_n to_o man_n he_o will_v not_o have_v man_n perish_v when_o please_v he_o another_o ground_n be_v our_o own_o estate_n and_o condition_n we_o be_v here_o absent_a from_o the_o lord_n stranger_n on_o earth_n now_o we_o will_v take_v our_o pilgrimage_n for_o our_o country_n if_o we_o have_v always_o comfort_n and_o new_a supply_n of_o joy_n again_o our_o disposition_n be_v to_o live_v by_o sense_n more_o than_o by_o faith_n we_o be_v as_o child_n in_o this_o we_o will_v have_v god_n ever_o smile_v upon_o we_o that_o we_o may_v walk_v in_o abundance_n of_o comfort_n and_o i_o can_v blame_v christian_n for_o desire_v it_o if_o they_o desire_v the_o in_o some_o measure_n to_o their_o head_n though_o christ_n drink_v the_o cup_n of_o god_n wrath_n to_o the_o bottom_n yet_o we_o must_v sip_v and_o taste_v a_o little_a that_o we_o may_v know_v how_o much_o we_o be_v behold_v to_o christ_n and_o there_o be_v few_o that_o come_v to_o heaven_n few_o that_o true_o belong_v to_o god_n but_o they_o know_v what_o sin_n be_v and_o what_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v first_o or_o last_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n be_v the_o best_a corrosive_n in_o the_o world_n to_o eat_v out_o sin_n a_o little_a anger_n of_o god_n feel_v in_o the_o conscience_n
