thou_o into_o this_o or_o that_o monastery_n run_v unto_o this_o saint_n here_o erect_v a_o chapel_n to_o the_o honour_n of_o such_o a_o saint_n in_o a_o other_o place_n find_v a_o mass_n light_a taper_n eat_v fish_n buy_v indulgence_n etc._n etc._n which_o be_v do_v they_o by_o and_o by_o bring_v a_o other_o work_n and_o forthwith_o after_o that_o a_o other_o so_o they_o know_v not_o how_o high_o to_o be_v esteem_v which_o teach_v the_o chief_a point_n and_o whole_a sum_n of_o doctrine_n to_o wit_n how_o the_o hart_n and_o conscience_n yea_o and_o the_o whole_a man_n must_v live_v they_o know_v nothing_o of_o that_o thing_n although_o they_o be_v very_o full_a of_o word_n but_o do_v altogether_o err_v from_o the_o sum_n &_o principal_a point_n of_o the_o law_n in_o the_o mean_a season_n they_o entangle_v the_o mind_n of_o the_o hearer_n with_o such_o a_o confuse_a company_n of_o word_n that_o they_o know_v neither_o how_o to_o make_v a_o beginning_n nor_o end_n of_o speak_v include_v themselves_o within_o the_o wall_n of_o monastery_n which_o day_n &_o night_n kneel_v upon_o their_o knee_n say_v many_o rosary_n as_o they_o call_v they_o o_o what_o holiness_n be_v there_o where_o even_o god_n himself_o dwell_v where_o the_o holy_a ghost_n the_o comforter_n abide_v present_a these_o thing_n the_o world_n boast_v of_o and_o great_o esteem_v but_o beside_o these_o they_o thing_n sure_o i_o ought_v to_o glory_n of_o if_o i_o be_v a_o true_a christian_a but_o this_o seem_v difficult_a and_o hard_a god_n admit_v no_o sin_n my_o fearful_a and_o weak_a conscience_n be_v against_o i_o how_o be_o i_o his_o servant_n when_o as_o notwithstanding_o i_o feel_v in_o myself_o that_o i_o serve_v the_o devil_n and_o do_v not_o know_v that_o i_o be_o holy_a i_o speak_v not_o here_o of_o the_o common_a sort_n of_o christian_n such_o as_o i_o and_o such_o like_a be_v but_o of_o sincere_a christian_n which_o have_v a_o good_a conscience_n and_o in_o who_o heart_n the_o spirit_n of_o god_n abide_v who_o conscience_n albeit_o it_o be_v frail_a and_o weak_a and_o they_o feel_v their_o sin_n yet_o they_o be_v enforce_v to_o say_v howsoever_o sin_n be_v yet_o i_o know_v no_o sin_n by_o myself_o neither_o be_o i_o subject_a to_o death_n and_o hell_n and_o for_o this_o cause_n they_o strive_v and_o at_o the_o last_o overcome_v that_o therefore_o they_o will_v even_o die_v in_o that_o confidence_n but_o i_o find_v it_o far_o otherwise_o if_o i_o set_v my_o life_n before_o my_o sight_n here_o life_n and_o the_o word_n must_v be_v separate_v far_o asunder_o if_o thou_o will_v consider_v life_n i_o will_v set_v also_o before_o thou_o the_o life_n of_o s._n peter_n paul_n or_o john_n thou_o shall_v find_v even_o they_o not_o to_o have_v live_v without_o sin_n our_o good_a conversation_n and_o manner_n weigh_v how_o foolish_o man_n apply_v themselves_o to_o the_o gospel_n that_o i_o be_o almost_o in_o doubt_n whether_o i_o shall_v preach_v any_o more_o or_o no._n for_o as_o soon_o as_o these_o thing_n be_v teach_v in_o a_o sermon_n that_o salvation_n consist_v not_o in_o our_o work_n or_o life_n but_o in_o the_o gift_n of_o god_n every_o one_o be_v slow_a to_o do_v good_a no_o man_n will_v live_v a_o honest_a life_n and_o be_v any_o more_o obedient_a they_o false_o affirm_v every_o where_n that_o good_a work_n be_v inhibit_v nevertheless_o god_n require_v of_o we_o that_o we_o lead_v a_o honest_a life_n outward_o and_o he_o that_o do_v not_o so_o shall_v at_o length_n find_v his_o due_a punishment_n now_o if_o it_o happen_v that_o we_o live_v godly_o and_o honest_o outward_o satan_n by_o and_o by_o frame_v his_o wickedness_n neither_o do_v i_o know_v at_o this_o day_n how_o to_o order_v myself_o in_o this_o matter_n not_o because_o of_o my_o own_o person_n but_o because_o of_o life_n for_o if_o we_o preach_v of_o a_o honest_a and_o godly_a life_n the_o world_n by_o &_o by_o furious_o attempt_v without_o judgement_n life_n judgement_n they_z endeavour_n by_o their_o good_a work_n to_o attain_v to_o salvation_n we_o must_v neither_o presume_v of_o good_a work_n nor_o neglect_v to_o lead_v a_o godly_a life_n to_o build_v ladder_n to_o heaven_n which_o god_n neither_o can_v neither_o will_n by_o any_o mean_n suffer_v again_o a_o dishonest_a and_o ignominious_a life_n do_v not_o become_v christian_n neither_o do_v a_o delicate_a life_n become_v they_o what_o therefore_o must_v we_o then_o do_v they_z which_o have_v respect_n only_o to_o a_o honest_a and_o fair_a life_n it_o be_v better_o for_o they_o to_o be_v adulterer_n and_o adulteress_n and_o altogether_o to_o wallow_v in_o the_o mire_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o god_n will_v not_o have_v we_o to_o lead_v our_o life_n filthy_o and_o dishonest_o for_o neither_o can_v he_o suffer_v that_o adiudging_a thou_o even_o unto_o hell_n therefore_o if_o thou_o so_o do_v and_o if_o thou_o lead_v a_o honest_a life_n thou_o will_v stick_v in_o it_o and_o arrogate_v unto_o thyself_o which_o again_o he_o can_v not_o suffer_v thou_o must_v therefore_o so_o provide_v that_o thou_o remain_v in_o the_o middle_a path_n decline_v neither_o to_o the_o right_a hand_n nor_o to_o the_o left_a and_o that_o thou_o lead_v a_o quiet_a fair_a and_o amiable_a life_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o world_n which_o also_o may_v be_v acceptable_a before_o god_n and_o yet_o that_o thou_o do_v not_o therefore_o so_o great_o esteem_v it_o nor_o count_v so_o of_o it_o as_o though_o thou_o do_v merit_v any_o thing_n of_o god_n thereby_o thus_o a_o christian_a continue_v fight_v with_o the_o devil_n and_o to_o bear_v his_o assault_n as_o often_o as_o he_o shall_v set_v upon_o we_o &_o dispute_v with_o we_o out_o of_o moses_n with_o who_o when_o he_o go_v about_o such_o thing_n we_o must_v not_o dispute_v in_o many_o word_n but_o must_v forthwith_o appeal_v from_o moses_n to_o christ_n and_o cleave_v to_o he_o for_o all_o his_o travaills_n &_o deceit_n tend_v inquire_v what_o i_o must_v do_v or_o leave_v undo_v but_o by_o what_o mean_v we_o obtain_v to_o have_v god_n gentle_a and_o favourable_a unto_o we_o and_o how_o we_o get_v remission_n of_o sin_n here_o i_o will_v abide_v in_o the_o arm_n of_o christ_n cleave_v unseparable_o about_o his_o neck_n and_o creep_v into_o his_o bosom_n whatsoever_o the_o law_n shall_v say_v and_o my_o heart_n shall_v feel_v nevertheless_o so_o that_o we_o keep_v the_o principal_a part_n of_o our_o faith_n sincere_a and_o the_o chief_a point_n safe_a outward_o i_o will_v willing_o do_v and_o suffer_v what_o burden_n soever_o it_o shall_v lay_v upon_o i_o behold_v he_o that_o understand_v this_o art_n well_o shall_v be_v a_o right_n and_o perfect_a man_n as_o christ_n be_v so_o far_o above_o all_o law_n without_o the_o law_n and_o yet_o in_o the_o mean_a season_n fulfil_v all_o law_n furthermore_o be_v obstinate_a and_o stout_a against_o all_o that_o will_v enforce_v and_o constrain_v he_o and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o of_o his_o own_o accord_n profit_n and_o obey_v all_o but_o true_o herein_o consist_v all_o the_o defect_n that_o we_o do_v never_o full_o and_o perfect_o learn_v this_o art_n the_o devil_n so_o let_v and_o hinder_v we_o that_o we_o go_v preposterous_o to_o work_v be_v too_o ready_a and_o willing_a to_o hear_v all_o thing_n whatsoever_o the_o law_n say_v at_o who_o doctrine_n but_o true_o we_o teach_v nothing_o for_o their_o sake_n inasmuch_o as_o they_o be_v not_o worthy_a of_o our_o doctrine_n and_o be_v so_o punish_v of_o god_n that_o they_o can_v never_o learn_v it_o &_o bring_v forth_o any_o fruit_n thereby_o although_o they_o hear_v it_o therefore_o let_v we_o only_o keep_v it_o whereof_o they_o do_v take_v away_o nothing_o at_o all_o from_o we_o but_o that_o they_o hear_v a_o vain_a noise_n and_o sound_n of_o it_o and_o thus_o much_o for_o the_o first_o part_n of_o this_o sermon_n in_o which_o christ_n teach_v by_o his_o own_o example_n how_o every_o man_n ought_v to_o keep_v his_o conscience_n free_a from_o all_o disputation_n of_o the_o law_n and_o terror_n of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n and_o of_o sin_n now_o consequent_o i_o think_v it_o good_a diligent_o to_o consider_v this_o excellent_a and_o goodly_a parable_n of_o christ_n 15.3_o luke_n 15.3_o where_o he_o begin_v and_o say_v what_o man_n of_o you_o have_v a_o hundred_o sheep_n if_o he_o lose_v one_o of_o they_o do_v not_o leave_v ninety_o and_o nine_o in_o the_o wilderness_n and_o go_v after_o that_o which_o be_v lose_v until_o he_o find_v it_o christ_n be_v not_o only_o of_o a_o stout_a mind_n who_o will_v not_o follow_v the_o word_n and_o mastership_n of_o they_o but_o he_o bring_v probable_a cause_n also_o of_o his_o stoutness_n with_o great_a cunning_a refel_v their_o objection_n and_o stop_v their_o mouth_n so_o that_o they_o can_v murmur_v nothing_o against_o he_o moreover_o he_o convince_v they_o by_o their_o own_o example_n and_o deed_n and_o conclude_v that_o they_o ought_v for_o good_a cause_n to_o be_v utter_o ashamed_a be_v bold_a to_o speak_v unto_o he_o &_o reprehend_v that_o in_o he_o in_o so_o great_a a_o matter_n which_o they_o themselves_o do_v in_o a_o much_o less_o for_o by_o what_o mean_n can_v he_o better_a and_o more_o ready_o answer_v they_o then_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v he_o how_o christ_n answer_v the_o scribe_n and_o pharisee_n when_o they_o murmur_v for_o that_o he_o receive_v sinner_n unto_o he_o will_v you_o o_o excellent_a and_o most_o wise_a master_n command_v this_o thing_n and_o teach_v i_o to_o drive_v away_o and_o alienate_v from_o i_o miserable_a sinner_n which_o long_o after_o i_o and_o come_v to_o hear_v i_o when_o as_o there_o be_v nothing_o that_o you_o yourselves_o
make_v we_o also_o good_a christ_n sit_v at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o the_o father_n yet_o nevertheless_o he_o reign_v in_o the_o heart_n and_o conscience_n of_o the_o faithful_a so_o that_o they_o love_v fear_v reverence_n and_o diligent_o obey_v he_o no_o otherwise_o then_o obedient_a subject_n do_v their_o king_n and_o in_o all_o their_o do_n be_v make_v like_o to_o he_o even_o as_o he_o rest_n when_o it_o understand_v and_o know_v that_o god_n be_v merciful_a unto_o it_o and_o impute_v not_o sin_n 3_o therefore_o man_n bear_v all_o kind_n of_o tribulation_n and_o affliction_n by_o which_o sin_n be_v scour_v and_o the_o force_n thereof_o abate_v he_z also_o endevour_v to_o be_v beneficial_a unto_o other_o as_o he_o himself_o have_v be_v as_o it_o be_v overwhelm_v of_o the_o benefit_n of_o god_n 4_o and_o so_o the_o lord_n reign_v after_o two_o sort_n first_o for_o that_o he_o make_v the_o faithful_a certain_a of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o remission_n of_o sin_n which_o thou_o shall_v find_v nothing_o but_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n which_o kingdom_n be_v preach_v and_o offer_v unto_o we_o by_o the_o gospel_n god_n grant_v that_o we_o may_v so_o receive_v it_o amen_n a_o sermon_n of_o d._n martin_n luther_n of_o prayer_n that_o prayer_n may_v be_v good_a in_o deed_n and_o may_v also_o be_v hear_v we_o must_v first_o consider_v that_o two_o thing_n be_v of_o god_n for_o his_o own_o worthiness_n or_o the_o worthiness_n of_o his_o prayer_n but_o by_o the_o only_a goodness_n of_o god_n who_o prevent_v all_o our_o petition_n and_o desire_n provoke_v we_o to_o pray_v and_o desire_v of_o he_o by_o his_o gentle_a and_o bounteous_a promise_n and_o commandment_n that_o we_o may_v learn_v how_o great_a care_n he_o have_v over_o we_o and_o be_v ready_a to_o give_v we_o more_o thing_n than_o we_o dare_v enterprise_n to_o ask_v and_o that_o we_o may_v also_o learn_v to_o pray_v bold_o inasmuch_o as_o he_o give_v we_o all_o thing_n even_o in_o more_o ample_a manner_n than_o we_o do_v ask_v they_o prayer_n we_o must_v no_o thing_n doubt_n of_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n in_o prayer_n it_o be_v necessary_a that_o we_o do_v no_o whit_n doubt_n of_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o true_a and_o faithful_a god_n for_o therefore_o he_o have_v promise_v that_o he_o will_v hear_v we_o yea_o and_o have_v command_v we_o to_o pray_v that_o we_o may_v have_v open_v unto_o you_o for_o every_o one_o that_o ask_v receive_v and_o he_o that_o seek_v find_v and_o to_o he_o that_o knock_v it_o shall_v be_v open_v if_o a_o son_n shall_v ask_v bread_n of_o any_o of_o you_o that_o be_v a_o father_n will_v you_o give_v he_o a_o stone_n or_o if_o he_o ask_v a_o fish_n will_v you_o for_o a_o fish_n give_v he_o a_o serpent_n or_o if_o he_o ask_v a_o egg_n will_v you_o give_v he_o a_o scorpion_n if_o you_o then_o which_o be_v evil_a can_v give_v good_a gift_n unto_o your_o child_n how_o much_o more_o shall_v your_o heavenly_a father_n give_v the_o holy_a not_o great_o whether_o it_o be_v hear_v or_o not_o hear_v he_o commit_v a_o double_a offence_n one_o for_o that_o he_o himself_o make_v his_o prayer_n frustrate_v and_o labour_v in_o vain_a for_o so_o james_n say_v chap._n 1_n he_o that_o will_v ask_v of_o the_o lord_n let_v he_o ask_v in_o faith_n and_o waver_v not_o for_o he_o that_o waver_v be_v like_o a_o wave_n of_o the_o sea_n toss_v of_o the_o wind_n and_o carry_v away_o let_v not_o that_o man_n think_v that_o he_o shall_v receive_v any_o thing_n of_o the_o lord_n such_o a_o man_n hart_n be_v not_o quiet_a &_o settle_a wherefore_o god_n can_v give_v he_o nothing_o but_o faith_n make_v the_o hart_n quiet_a and_o capable_a of_o the_o gift_n of_o god_n the_o other_o offence_n be_v that_o he_o count_v the_o most_o faithful_a and_o true_a god_n as_o a_o lie_a vain_a and_o unconstant_a man_n as_o he_o which_o neither_o be_v able_a neither_o will_v fulfil_v his_o promise_n so_o by_o his_o dout_n he_o rob_v god_n of_o his_o honour_n &_o name_n of_o faithfulness_n and_o truth_n whereby_o it_o be_v so_o grievous_o offend_v that_o even_o that_o offence_n be_v commit_v a_o christian_n be_v plain_o change_v into_o a_o heathen_a and_o deni_v and_o lose_v his_o true_a god_n so_o that_o if_o he_o continue_v therein_o he_o be_v damn_v for_o ever_o without_o all_o comfort_n and_o if_o any_o thing_n be_v give_v unto_o he_o which_o he_o ask_v it_o be_v give_v he_o not_o to_o good_a but_o to_o evil_a as_o well_o temporal_a as_o eternal_a not_o for_o his_o prayer_n sake_n but_o from_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n that_o he_o may_v recompense_v those_o goodly_a word_n which_o be_v utter_v in_o sin_n unbelief_n and_o to_o the_o dishonour_n of_o god_n unworthy_a we_o must_v not_o therefore_o doubt_v in_o our_o prayer_n for_o that_o we_o be_v unworthy_a some_o say_v i_o will_v trust_v in_o deed_n that_o my_o prayer_n shall_v be_v hear_v if_o i_o be_v worthy_a or_o if_o i_o can_v pray_v well_o then_o say_v that_o it_o trust_v to_o itself_o or_o any_o other_o thing_n and_o ground_n itself_o thereon_o it_o be_v false_a and_o deceive_v thou_o albeit_o thy_o hart_n shall_v even_o be_v burst_v by_o reason_n of_o the_o ardent_a affection_n of_o godliness_n and_o thou_o shall_v weep_v

drop_n of_o water_n be_v consume_v of_o the_o heat_n of_o the_o sun_n for_o where_o the_o mercy_n seat_n reign_v there_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o mere_a forgevenes_n and_o remission_n of_o sin_n this_o therefore_o be_v know_v we_o must_v exact_o understand_v the_o difference_n between_o the_o law_n and_o the_o gospel_n whereof_o we_o often_o teach_v law_n the_o office_n of_o the_o law_n the_o law_n draw_v we_o to_o the_o judgement_n seat_n require_v of_o we_o integrity_n of_o life_n love_v out_o of_o a_o pure_a heart_n &_o a_o good_a conscience_n it_o make_v we_o also_o to_o exercise_v ourselves_o therein_o and_o must_v go_v no_o further_o but_o when_o it_o shall_v come_v and_o accuse_v thou_o and_o will_v reason_v with_o thou_o and_o have_v those_o thing_n to_o be_v perform_v which_o it_o require_v then_o shall_v thou_o be_v great_o trouble_v for_o albeit_o thou_o have_v do_v they_o yet_o be_v thou_o not_o able_a to_o stand_v before_o god_n before_o who_o judgement_n seat_n many_o thing_n be_v yet_o find_v want_v in_o thou_o which_o shall_v have_v be_v do_v of_o thou_o and_o thou_o have_v leave_v they_o undo_v neither_o be_v they_o know_v unto_o thyself_o seat_n the_o law_n will_v drive_v we_o unto_o desperation_n unless_o we_o can_v appeal_v from_o the_o judgement_n seat_n to_o the_o mercy_n seat_n whither_o then_o will_v thou_o turn_v thou_o here_o the_o law_n urge_v thou_o by_o all_o mean_n and_o thy_o own_o conscience_n be_v witness_n accuse_v thou_o require_v the_o sentence_n of_o the_o judge_n against_o thou_o then_o must_v thou_o despeire_n there_o be_v no_o counsel_n or_o help_v to_o be_v have_v except_o thou_o know_v to_o fly_v from_o the_o judgement_n seat_n to_o the_o mercy_n seat_n as_o for_o example_n admit_v some_o bishop_n die_v in_o his_o own_o holiness_n who_o while_o he_o live_v be_v as_o it_o seem_v of_o a_o good_a life_n and_o acknowledge_v christ_n not_o otherwise_o then_o a_o cruel_a judge_n as_o it_o have_v be_v hitherto_o preach_v of_o he_o neither_o have_v he_o be_v otherwise_o set_v forth_o as_o he_o be_v also_o wont_a to_o be_v unto_o such_o not_o of_o his_o own_o nature_n for_o in_o deed_n he_o be_v most_o gracious_a and_o comfortable_a but_o because_o they_o esteem_v he_o for_o no_o other_o in_o their_o heart_n behold_v this_o man_n be_v a_o hindrance_n unto_o himself_o that_o he_o can_v not_o obtain_v any_o grace_n for_o he_o know_v no_o difference_n of_o the_o judgement_n seat_n and_o the_o mercy_n seat_n yea_o he_o be_v altogether_o ignorant_a whether_o there_o be_v a_o mercy_n seat_n from_o which_o he_o so_o err_v and_o must_v be_v bind_v to_o the_o judgement_n seat_n but_o we_o teach_v thus_o of_o how_o christ_n must_v be_v learned_a and_o consider_v of_o that_o christ_n be_v so_o to_o be_v learned_a and_o consider_v that_o we_o be_v most_o certain_o persuade_v that_o he_o sit_v before_o miserable_a and_o tremble_a conscience_n that_o believe_v in_o he_o not_o as_o a_o angry_a judge_n which_o command_v forthwith_o to_o carry_v violent_o they_o that_o be_v guilty_a unto_o punishment_n but_o as_o a_o gentle_a love_a and_o comfortable_a mediator_n between_o my_o fearful_a conscience_n and_o god_n which_o say_v unto_o i_o if_o thou_o be_v a_o sinner_n and_o astonish_v and_o the_o devil_n labour_v to_o draw_v thou_o to_o the_o judgement_n seat_n then_o see_v that_o thou_o fly_v unto_o i_o and_o fear_v no_o wrath_n or_o anger_n wherefore_o even_o because_o i_o sit_v here_o that_o if_o thou_o believe_v in_o i_o i_o may_v make_v intercession_n for_o thou_o to_o my_o father_n that_o no_o anger_n and_o severity_n may_v hurt_v thou_o for_o all_o anger_n and_o punishment_n shall_v be_v soon_o lay_v upon_o i_o then_o be_v bear_v of_o thou_o howbeit_o that_o can_v not_o be_v for_o he_o be_v the_o only_o belove_a son_n in_o who_o all_o grace_n and_o favour_n dwell_v who_o as_o often_o as_o the_o father_n do_v behold_v he_o can_v not_o but_o replenish_v forthwith_o obtain_v with_o out_o all_o repulse_n or_o denial_n so_o by_o faith_n we_o be_v make_v whole_o bless_v and_o safe_a subject_a no_o more_o to_o any_o damnation_n yet_o not_o for_o our_o own_o holiness_n and_o pureness_n but_o for_o christ_n sake_n to_o who_o we_o cleave_v by_o faith_n as_o to_o our_o mercy_n seat_n be_v assure_o persuade_v that_o with_o he_o there_o remain_v no_o anger_n but_o mere_a love_n and_o pardon_n and_o forgiveness_n of_o sin_n thus_o the_o heart_n be_v purify_v before_o god_n and_o the_o conscience_n make_v good_a and_o quiet_a not_o in_o respect_n have_v of_o my_o own_o pureness_n of_o life_n lead_v before_o the_o world_n but_o by_o trust_n and_o confidence_n of_o that_o excellent_a treasure_n which_o my_o heart_n apprehend_v which_o be_v unto_o i_o in_o steed_n of_o a_o pledge_n and_o fullness_n when_o as_o before_o god_n i_o be_o not_o able_a to_o pay_v feign_a we_o must_v especial_o take_v heed_n that_o our_o faith_n be_v not_o false_a or_o feign_a but_o herein_o the_o whole_a force_n of_o the_o matter_n consist_v that_o we_o do_v again_o and_o again_o take_v heed_n that_o our_o faith_n be_v not_o false_a or_o as_o paul_n speak_v feign_v for_o if_o this_o err_v and_o deceive_v we_o all_o thing_n deceive_v us._n for_o there_o have_v be_v many_o in_o all_o age_n as_o there_o be_v also_o at_o this_o day_n which_o can_v speak_v many_o thing_n of_o faith_n and_o will_v be_v master_n not_o only_o of_o the_o law_n but_o even_o of_o the_o gospel_n also_o who_o say_v the_o same_o that_o we_o do_v that_o faith_n perform_v &_o do_v all_o thing_n but_o that_o the_o law_n and_o good_a work_n be_v also_o to_o be_v join_v unto_o it_o and_o that_o otherwise_o if_o these_o be_v not_o add_v faith_n avail_v nothing_o in_o which_o word_n they_o mix_v &_o mingle_v together_o our_o life_n &_o work_n and_o christ_n but_o this_o be_v not_o pure_o and_o sincere_o to_o have_v teach_v faith_n but_o to_o have_v colour_v defile_v and_o corrupt_a faith_n so_o that_o it_o can_v no_o more_o be_v call_v faith_n but_o a_o feign_a colour_n &_o counterfect_v of_o faith_n the_o trust_n and_o confidence_n of_o the_o heart_n stand_v not_o pure_o towards_o christ_n as_o the_o only_a mercy_n seat_n but_o be_v ground_v upon_o our_o one_o holiness_n as_o be_v able_a to_o stand_v before_o the_o judgement_n seat_n wherefore_o do_v thus_o we_o be_v most_o right_o cast_v of_o before_o god_n and_o condemn_v unto_o destruction_n whereof_o we_o be_v most_o worthy_a for_o if_o faith_n must_v be_v pure_a and_o void_a of_o all_o counterfect_a and_o feign_v
than_o these_o two_o thing_n christ_n and_o my_o work_n must_v be_v right_o discern_v and_o sever_a one_o from_o the_o other_o for_o this_o be_v plain_a even_o to_o he_o that_o be_v blind_a that_o christ_n and_o his_o work_n be_v not_o my_o life_n and_o my_o work_n but_o be_v separate_v from_o the_o law_n and_o from_o the_o work_n of_o all_o man_n yea_o and_o that_o by_o a_o great_a distance_n than_o man_n be_v unlike_a or_o differ_v from_o man_n for_o neither_o can_v i_o say_v that_o i_o and_o cesar_n or_o the_o bishop_n of_o rome_n be_v the_o same_o thing_n yet_o i_o be_o much_o near_o and_o like_a unto_o either_o of_o they_o than_o a_o mortal_a man_n and_o a_o sinner_n be_v unto_o christ_n the_o lord_n who_o be_v not_o only_o a_o pure_a and_o holy_a man_n free_a from_o all_o spot_n and_o blot_n but_o be_v moreover_o god_n also_o therefore_o let_v the_o law_n and_o the_o pureness_n of_o thy_o heart_n yea_o and_o thy_o good_a conscience_n avail_v in_o earth_n only_o towards_o man_n but_o where_o the_o mercy_n seat_n be_v to_o wit_n at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o the_o father_n and_o the_o mediator_n between_o thou_o &_o god_n thither_o no_o man_n work_n &_o merit_n ought_v to_o have_v access_n much_o less_o be_v they_o there_o of_o any_o force_n or_o value_n wherefore_o christ_n be_v pure_o to_o be_v separate_v from_o all_o my_o life_n deed_n and_o work_n and_o we_o must_v without_o exception_n conclude_v that_o he_o be_v a_o other_o thing_n than_o our_o life_n lead_v before_o man_n with_o a_o pure_a heart_n and_o a_o good_a conscience_n albeit_o it_o be_v lead_v mercy_n seat_n and_o all_o that_o cleave_v unto_o he_o by_o faith_n can_v not_o be_v condemn_v and_o judge_v so_o the_o judgement_n seat_n together_o with_o the_o law_n and_o all_o my_o life_n go_v into_o one_o part_n but_o my_o faith_n must_v fly_v and_o leap_v far_o unto_o a_o other_o part_n and_o join_v itself_o unto_o he_o which_o be_v pure_a and_o have_v no_o sin_n of_o who_o the_o scripture_n speak_v he_o that_o believe_v in_o he_o shall_v not_o be_v confound_v because_o he_o be_v present_a in_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o father_n and_o make_v intercession_n for_o i_o moreover_o he_o give_v i_o his_o own_o pureness_n and_o holiness_n that_o be_v clothe_v and_o adorn_v therewith_o i_o may_v be_v able_a to_o stand_v before_o god_n and_o all_o wrath_n and_o displeasure_n may_v and_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o although_o it_o hold_v the_o word_n of_o christ_n yet_o have_v it_o the_o confidence_n and_o trust_n of_o the_o heart_n repose_v in_o itself_o so_o it_o a_o feign_a faith_n be_v no_o sure_a foundation_n but_o fail_v they_o that_o trust_v unto_o it_o that_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o it_o be_v only_o a_o colour_n which_o can_v not_o long_o continue_v for_o the_o matter_n come_v at_o the_o last_o to_o this_o point_n that_o believe_v that_o god_n be_v favourable_a unto_o thou_o because_o of_o thy_o life_n lead_v without_o fault_n or_o blame_n thou_o must_v despeire_n and_o say_v who_o know_v what_o i_o have_v do_v whereby_o be_o i_o certain_a that_o i_o have_v neglect_v nothing_o through_o carelessness_n or_o that_o nothing_o be_v want_v in_o i_o in_o this_o doutfulnes_n of_o mind_n the_o foundation_n fail_v slide_v away_o under_o thou_o like_o unto_o sand_n move_v or_o stir_v and_o so_o faith_n be_v of_o no_o force_n or_o value_n at_o all_o wherefore_o it_o be_v not_o unfit_o call_v feign_v and_o paint_a faith_n through_o which_o one_o see_v as_o it_o be_v through_o a_o lattice_n or_o paint_a glass_n through_o which_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v see_v represent_v the_o colour_n of_o the_o glass_n and_o yet_o be_v not_o in_o deed_n of_o that_o colour_n so_o they_o also_o believe_v that_o that_o affection_n be_v in_o god_n that_o he_o vouchsave_v to_o regard_v our_o work_n and_o merit_n which_o they_o paint_v forth_o according_a to_o their_o own_o opinion_n and_o dream_n which_o be_v utter_o false_a rash_a and_o unaduised_a and_o so_o judge_v god_n &_o all_o thing_n according_a to_o they_o they_o see_v only_o as_o it_o be_v through_o a_o lattice_n or_o paint_a glass_n but_o so_o only_o thou_o shall_v behold_v he_o with_o pure_a and_o clear_a eye_n if_o thou_o do_v well_o separate_v the_o judgement_n seat_n and_o the_o mercy_n seat_n one_o from_o the_o other_o that_o heaven_n with_o the_o star_n thereof_o may_v remain_v pure_a to_o grace_n &_o remission_n of_o sin_n obtain_v by_o the_o mediator_n where_o christ_n reign_v with_o his_o work_n and_o the_o earth_n also_o with_o her_o tree_n and_o herb_n whither_o we_o must_v be_v refer_v with_o our_o work_n the_o matter_n i_o say_v must_v be_v bring_v of_o we_o to_o that_o pass_n if_o we_o will_v stand_v with_o a_o right_n and_o a_o unfeigned_a mouse_n have_v taste_v pitch_n have_v run_v away_o rejoice_v great_o that_o liberty_n be_v give_v i_o to_o attain_v to_o the_o mercy_n seat_n and_o now_o i_o be_o enforce_v to_o say_v that_o albeit_o i_o have_v live_v very_o well_o before_o man_n yet_o all_o thing_n commit_v of_o i_o contrariwise_o do_v remain_v beneath_o under_o the_o judgement_n seat_n to_o be_v punish_v according_a to_o the_o sentence_n and_o judgement_n of_o god_n salvation_n only_o christ_n be_v our_o comfort_n and_o mean_n whereby_o we_o attain_v salvation_n now_o i_o have_v no_o other_o comfort_n nor_o no_o other_o help_n and_o counsel_n of_o my_o salvation_n then_o that_o christ_n be_v my_o mercy_n seat_n who_o have_v never_o offend_v have_v defile_v himself_o with_o no_o sin_n who_o die_v and_o rise_v again_o
