the_o first_o and_o chief_a and_o conscience_n be_v the_o second_o subordinate_a unto_o god_n bear_v witness_n unto_o god_n either_o with_o the_o man_n or_o against_o he_o therefore_o it_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o part_n of_o the_o understanding_n whereby_o a_o man_n know_v what_o he_o think_v what_o he_o will_v and_o desire_n as_o also_o in_o what_o manner_n he_o know_v think_v or_o when_o they_o die_v they_o be_v full_o persuade_v there_o opinion_n be_v the_o truth_n again_o in_o the_o same_o manner_n put_v the_o case_n a_o man_n shall_v be_v of_o opinion_n that_o fornication_n or_o theft_n be_v thing_n arbitrarie_a and_o indifferent_a and_o hereupon_o his_o conscience_n shall_v tell_v he_o he_o may_v take_v opportunity_n and_o commit_v either_o of_o these_o sin_n whether_o a_o twofold_a relation_n to_o god_n or_o to_o man._n as_o he_o stand_v in_o relation_n to_o god_n he_o bear_v the_o name_n of_o a_o christian_a that_o be_v a_o member_n of_o christ_n or_o a_o son_n of_o god_n who_o duty_n be_v to_o know_v and_o to_o worship_n god_n according_a to_o his_o will_n reveal_v in_o his_o word_n as_o he_o stand_v in_o relation_n to_o man_n he_o be_v a_o part_n of_o a_o body_n and_o a_o member_n of_o some_o society_n now_o the_o question_n that_o concern_v he_o as_o a_o member_n of_o a_o society_n be_v of_o three_o sort_n according_a to_o three_o distinct_a kind_n of_o society_n for_o every_o man_n be_v either_o a_o member_n of_o a_o family_n or_o of_o the_o church_n or_o of_o the_o commonwealth_n and_o answerable_o some_o question_n concern_v man_n as_o a_o the_o give_v of_o the_o first_o grace_n and_o after_o that_o the_o give_v of_o the_o second_o the_o former_a of_o these_o two_o work_n have_v x._o several_a action_n i._o god_n give_v man_n the_o outward_a mean_n of_o salvation_n special_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n and_o with_o it_o he_o send_v some_o outward_a or_o inward_a cross_n to_o break_v and_o sub_fw-la due_n the_o stubbornness_n of_o our_o nature_n that_o it_o may_v be_v make_v pliable_a to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n this_o we_o may_v see_v in_o the_o example_n of_o the_o jailor_n act._n 16._o and_o of_o the_o jew_n that_o be_v convert_v at_o peter_n sermon_n act._n 2._o ii_o this_o do_v god_n bring_v the_o mind_n of_o man_n to_o a_o consideration_n of_o the_o law_n and_o therein_o general_o to_o see_v what_o be_v good_a and_o what_o be_v evil_a what_o be_v sin_n and_o what_o be_v not_o sin_n iii_o upon_o a_o serious_a consideration_n of_o the_o law_n he_o make_v a_o man_n particular_o to_o see_v and_o know_v his_o own_o peculiar_a and_o proper_a sin_n whereby_o he_o offend_v god_n iv._n upon_o the_o sight_n of_o sin_n he_o smite_v the_o heart_n with_o a_o legal_a fear_n whereby_o when_o man_n publish_v in_o the_o gospel_n vi_o after_o this_o the_o six_o be_v to_o kindle_v in_o the_o heart_n some_o seed_n or_o spark_n of_o faith_n that_o be_v a_o will_n and_o desire_v to_o believe_v and_o
