to_o be_v his_o care_n in_o another_o place_n psal_n 18.23_o i_o keep_v myself_o from_o my_o iniquity_n where_o there_o be_v the_o great_a inclination_n there_o have_v need_v to_o be_v the_o great_a causion_n three_o from_o the_o coherence_n of_o these_o word_n with_o the_o forego_n verse_n and_o the_o demonstration_n thus_o we_o see_v here_o what_o to_o judge_v of_o stagger_v at_o god_n promise_n and_o providence_n which_o be_v the_o main_a point_n here_o intend_v and_o that_o be_v no_o other_o than_o a_o infirmity_n this_o be_v my_o infirmity_n what_o do_v he_o mean_v by_o this_o why_o this_o despair_v distemper_n which_o be_v now_o upon_o he_o occasional_o from_o his_o present_a condition_n that_o he_o shall_v have_v such_o thought_n in_o his_o mind_n and_o utter_v such_o word_n with_o his_o mouth_n as_o now_o he_o have_v and_o do_v against_o the_o way_n and_o deal_n of_o god_n this_o be_v a_o very_a great_a weakness_n and_o infirmity_n in_o he_o and_o so_o it_o be_v likewise_o in_o any_o other_o christian_n or_o person_n beside_o so_o to_o do_v and_o it_o have_v these_o several_a branch_n in_o it_o wherein_o it_o consist_v first_o there_o be_v ignorance_n and_o want_n of_o understanding_n ignorance_n it_o be_v a_o piece_n of_o weakness_n especial_o in_o those_o matter_n which_o it_o be_v require_v of_o they_o that_o they_o shall_v know_v now_o this_o be_v that_o which_o be_v considerable_a here_o whosoever_o quarrel_n with_o the_o providence_n of_o god_n he_o be_v so_o far_o forth_o ignorant_a of_o the_o way_n of_o god_n yea_o indeed_o of_o god_n himself_o he_o do_v not_o sufficient_o know_v or_o understand_v what_o a_o one_o he_o be_v for_o if_o he_o do_v he_o will_v think_v better_o of_o he_o and_o be_v better_o satisfy_v with_o that_o which_o be_v do_v by_o he_o second_o infidelity_n there_o be_v that_o also_o pertinent_a hereunto_o a_o unbelieving_a person_n be_v a_o weak_a person_n faith_n it_o do_v strengthen_v and_o corroberate_v now_o such_o person_n as_o these_o they_o be_v short_a and_o deficient_a in_o faith_n to_o ask_v whether_o god_n mercy_n be_v go_v for_o ever_o and_o whether_o his_o promise_n fail_v for_o evermore_o and_o such_o question_n as_o these_o they_o do_v bewray_v much_o infidelity_n and_o consequent_o much_o infirmity_n three_o impatience_n that_o be_v also_o a_o argument_n of_o weakness_n if_o thou_o faint_v in_o the_o day_n of_o adversity_n say_v solomon_n thy_o strength_n be_v small_a prov._n 24.10_o not_o only_o thy_o natural_a strength_n but_o thy_o spiritual_a so_o much_o patience_n so_o much_o strength_n but_o so_o much_o impatience_n so_o much_o infirmity_n now_o this_o do_v eminent_o discover_v itself_o in_o our_o exception_n against_o god_n his_o providence_n it_o be_v the_o sign_n of_o a_o impatient_a spirit_n more_o or_o less_o and_o so_o have_v the_o just_a censure_n of_o weakness_n and_o infirmity_n upon_o it_o thus_o in_o all_o these_o respect_n be_v this_o expostulate_v with_o god_n a_o infirmity_n as_o the_o psalmist_n here_o express_v it_o to_o be_v and_o give_v this_o black_a character_n of_o it_o in_o this_o present_a scripture_n the_o consideration_n of_o this_o point_n shall_v work_v we_o so_o much_o the_o more_o to_o the_o hatred_n and_o detestation_n of_o it_o and_o oppose_v it_o as_o much_o as_o may_v be_v we_o shall_v not_o cherish_v that_o in_o ourselves_o which_o be_v rather_o weakness_n than_o any_o thing_n else_o but_o expel_v it_o and_o drive_v it_o away_o from_o we_o and_o labour_n to_o recover_v out_o of_o it_o as_o soon_o as_o we_o can_v as_o man_n will_v do_v in_o the_o case_n of_o the_o body_n when_o we_o censure_v the_o dispensation_n of_o god_n and_o and_o find_v fault_n with_o his_o providence_n we_o do_v not_o prove_v any_o weakness_n in_o he_o but_o rather_o discover_v weakness_n in_o ourselves_o it_o be_v our_o infirmity_n and_o so_o much_o of_o the_o point_n as_o it_o be_v considerable_a in_o the_o simple_a proposition_n and_o thing_n itself_o now_o further_o second_o we_o may_v look_v upon_o it_o in_o its_o reflection_n as_o it_o come_v here_o from_o the_o mouth_n of_o the_o psalmist_n himself_o i_o say_v this_o be_v my_o infirmity_n as_o it_o be_v so_o in_o itself_o consider_v in_o its_o own_o nature_n so_o it_o be_v moreover_o so_o according_a to_o his_o expression_n about_o it_o in_o which_o again_o there_o be_v divers_a particular_n observable_a of_o we_o as_o pertinent_a hereunto_o first_o the_o quickness_n of_o his_o apprehension_n in_o that_o he_o spy_v and_o discern_v this_o weakness_n and_o infirmity_n in_o himself_o while_o he_o say_v it_o it_o be_v evident_a he_o spy_v it_o he_o discover_v it_o and_o find_v it_o out_o this_o be_v one_o thing_n which_o be_v observable_a and_o commendable_a in_o he_o it_o be_v a_o part_n of_o spiritual_a strength_n to_o be_v sensible_a and_o apprehensive_a of_o weakness_n and_o take_v notice_n of_o spiritual_a infirmity_n and_o thus_o do_v david_n here_o as_o for_o wicked_a and_o carnal_a man_n there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o blindness_n and_o ignorance_n upon_o they_o from_o whence_o they_o go_v on_o in_o sin_n without_o any_o reflection_n but_o gracious_a person_n who_o be_v enlighten_v by_o god_n spirit_n they_o be_v make_v apprehensive_a of_o these_o matter_n they_o can_v distinguish_v betwixt_o good_a and_o evil_a in_o themselves_o see_z when_o they_o do_v that_o which_o they_o shall_v do_v and_o again_o see_v when_o they_o do_v that_o which_o be_v amiss_o they_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o discern_v which_o be_v confer_v and_o bestow_v upon_o they_o whereby_o they_o be_v enable_v to_o judge_n of_o thing_n as_o they_o be_v and_o to_o be_v right_o opinionate_a of_o they_o they_o do_v not_o call_v good_a evil_n nor_o yet_o evil_a good_a as_o it_o be_v say_v of_o some_o in_o the_o prophet_n esay_n 5.20_o second_o here_o be_v the_o tenderness_n of_o his_o conscience_n not_o only_o in_o that_o he_o discern_v this_o distemper_n and_o infirmity_n in_o himself_o but_o likewise_o that_o he_o check_v himself_o for_o it_o for_o so_o we_o must_v here_o take_v it_o i_o say_v this_o be_v my_o infirmity_n that_o be_v i_o blame_v and_o tax_v myself_o for_o it_o that_o such_o thought_n shall_v arise_v in_o i_o and_o he_o do_v it_o likewise_o which_o be_v here_o further_o to_o be_v add_v in_o a_o justify_n and_o acquit_v of_o god_n there_o be_v no_o fault_n in_o he_o in_o regard_n of_o his_o providence_n but_o rather_o the_o fault_n be_v in_o myself_o that_o do_v not_o sufficient_o understand_v and_o consider_v he_o this_o be_v the_o meaning_n of_o it_o this_o be_v the_o manner_n and_o disposition_n of_o the_o saint_n and_o servant_n of_o god_n that_o though_o they_o fall_v into_o sin_n through_o infirmity_n yet_o they_o do_v not_o rest_v and_o abide_v in_o it_o but_o recover_v and_o get_v up_o again_o they_o smite_v upon_o the_o breast_n and_o they_o smite_v upon_o the_o thigh_n when_o they_o have_v be_v guilty_a of_o any_o miscarriage_n they_o do_v not_o allow_v or_o defend_v themselves_o in_o it_o but_o be_v sorrowful_a and_o grieve_v for_o it_o as_o david_n here_o be_v he_o speak_v of_o it_o with_o a_o kind_n of_o remorse_n and_o trouble_n of_o spirit_n and_o the_o reason_n of_o it_o be_v this_o because_o they_o have_v a_o principle_n of_o grace_n and_o spiritual_a life_n n_o themselves_o which_o be_v ever_o and_o anon_o work_a corruption_n out_o of_o they_o and_o suppress_v it_o in_o they_o dead_a man_n they_o feel_v nothing_o though_o they_o have_v never_o so_o many_o slash_n or_o wound_n make_v in_o their_o body_n yet_o they_o be_v all_o nothing_o to_o they_o because_o they_o be_v dead_a and_o devoid_a of_o life_n and_o so_o it_o be_v with_o those_o which_o be_v in_o a_o state_n of_o nature_n and_o vnregeneracy_n they_o be_v in_o the_o like_a manner_n affect_v though_o they_o have_v never_o so_o many_o sin_n upon_o they_o yet_o they_o be_v not_o at_o all_o affect_a with_o they_o nor_o lay_v they_o to_o heart_n no_o more_o than_o if_o there_o be_v never_o any_o such_o thing_n that_o they_o can_v be_v charge_v withal_o be_v alienate_v from_o the_o life_n of_o god_n they_o be_v past_a feeling_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v and_o so_o have_v give_v themselves_o over_o to_o laciviousness_n to_o commit_v all_o uncleaness_n with_o greediness_n eph._n 4.19_o but_o the_o child_n of_o god_n they_o be_v alive_a through_o the_o work_n of_o grace_n which_o be_v in_o their_o heart_n and_o this_o make_v they_o to_o be_v so_o much_o trouble_v and_o perplex_v and_o afflict_a in_o themselves_o for_o that_o guilt_n which_o be_v
delight_n in_o we_o and_o express_v himself_o gracious_o to_o we_o second_o the_o peace_n of_o assurance_n in_o regard_n of_o ourselves_o religion_n be_v the_o way_n of_o peace_n in_o this_o sense_n also_o there_o be_v no_o peace_n to_o the_o wicked_a say_v my_o god_n say_v the_o prophet_n that_o be_v no_o peace_n in_o his_o own_o heart_n this_o a_o godly_a man_n have_v as_o god_n be_v actual_o non-attendency_a but_o a_o peace_n upon_o good_a ground_n that_o they_o want_v yea_o even_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n themselves_o by_o how_o much_o the_o less_o they_o walk_v in_o such_o way_n so_o much_o the_o less_o peace_n they_o have_v though_o god_n be_v a_o free_a worker_n and_o dispense_v his_o comfort_n as_o he_o please_v and_o not_o for_o any_o desert_n of_o we_o yet_o we_o can_v expect_v no_o more_o comfort_n than_o we_o be_v careful_a to_o exercise_v grace_n it_o be_v the_o way_n of_o goodness_n which_o be_v only_o the_o way_n of_o peace_n the_o very_a heathen_n themselves_o have_v some_o peace_n answerable_a to_o the_o moral_a virtue_n which_o they_o act_v but_o christian_n have_v another_o kind_n of_o peace_n from_o the_o exercise_n of_o christian_a grace_n and_o bring_v forth_o the_o fruit_n of_o the_o spirit_n yea_o they_o have_v not_o only_a peace_n but_o joy_v which_o make_v their_o condition_n so_o much_o the_o more_o comfortable_a in_o this_o regard_n present_a where_o they_o be_v not_o present_a by_o his_o power_n and_o so_o you_o have_v the_o first_o emphasis_n in_o which_o this_o question_n be_v considerable_a of_o we_o namely_o as_o it_o have_v the_o force_n of_o a_o infirmation_n as_o to_o one_o that_o be_v ignorant_a my_o heart_n go_v with_o thou_o the_o second_o be_v as_o it_o have_v the_o force_n of_o a_o expostulation_n to_o one_o that_o be_v a_o delinquent_n go_v not_o my_o heart_n with_o thou_o i._o e._n know_v thou_o not_o that_o my_o heart_n go_v with_o thou_o there_o be_v a_o double_a crime_n which_o gehazi_n be_v here_o but_o the_o thought_n and_o the_o practice_n in_o thought_n and_o so_o we_o may_v see_v by_o our_o saviour_n sermon_n upon_o the_o mount_n where_o undertake_v the_o exposition_n of_o the_o law_n he_o carry_v the_o breach_n of_o it_o not_o to_o the_o outward_a act_n only_o but_o also_o to_o the_o thought_n second_o the_o thought_n of_o man_n be_v the_o proper_a issue_n and_o emanation_n of_o their_o soul_n and_o so_o for_o that_o reason_n more_o especial_o to_o be_v rectify_v in_o they_o there_o be_v nothing_o so_o much_o a_o man_n as_o his_o mind_n nor_o there_o be_v nothing_o so_o much_o of_o a_o man_n mind_n as_o his_o thought_n that_o do_v spring_n from_o it_o look_v therefore_o how_o much_o a_o man_n be_v to_o be_v judge_v of_o so_o much_o be_v he_o to_o be_v judge_v of_o by_o his_o thought_n three_o the_o thought_n be_v such_o as_o whereto_o the_o gospel_n and_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n do_v especial_o and_o in_o a_o singular_a manner_n extend_v itself_o heb._n god_n himself_o be_v a_o searcher_n and_o trier_n of_o the_o thought_n and_o inward_a man_n and_o therefore_o be_v regard_n to_o be_v have_v still_o to_o they_o look_v how_o far_o he_o have_v a_o influence_n so_o far_o according_o shall_v we_o have_v a_o care_n and_o respect_n to_o ourselves_o now_o thus_o he_o have_v to_o the_o thought_n and_o cogitation_n and_o therefore_o he_o be_v usual_o describe_v by_o such_o a_o title_n as_o this_o be_v of_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d that_o search_v the_o heart_n and_o tri_v the_o reins_o man_n may_v sometime_o guess_v and_o conjecture_v but_o god_n he_o have_v absolute_a and_o certain_a knowledge_n he_o know_v what_o be_v in_o man_n as_o be_v say_v of_o christ_n all_o this_o show_v how_o religion_n do_v reach_v itself_o and_o extend_v to_o the_o thought_n this_o therefore_o meet_v with_o the_o conceit_n of_o such_o person_n as_o confine_v it_o only_o to_o the_o outward_a man_n who_o think_v that_o thought_n be_v free_a as_o they_o express_v it_o and_o that_o they_o may_v think_v what_o they_o please_v without_o any_o care_n to_o give_v any_o account_n of_o it_o first_o it_o be_v not_o so_o the_o unrighteous_a man_n must_v forsake_v his_o thought_n not_o only_o his_o evil_a wicked_a way_n whereby_o he_o be_v odious_a and_o abominable_a to_o man_n but_o also_o his_o evil_a affection_n wherein_o god_n himself_o take_v notice_n of_o he_o if_o you_o shall_v ask_v now_o in_o particular_a what_o those_o thought_n be_v which_o a_o unrighteous_a man_n be_v to_o forsake_v i_o answer_v in_o a_o word_n all_o such_o as_o be_v proper_a and_o peculiar_a to_o a_o man_n in_o the_o state_n of_o nature_n to_o a_o carnal_a and_o unregenerate_a person_n precise_o so_o take_v who_o be_v here_o emphatical_o call_v as_o i_o hint_v before_o a_o man_n of_o iniquity_n such_o a_o one_o as_o the_o scripture_n tell_v we_o his_o thought_n be_v whole_o evil_a gen._n 6.5_o col_fw-fr jetser_fw-fr the_o whole_a frame_n of_o the_o thought_n of_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n be_v only_o evil_a and_o that_o continual_o and_o 2_o cor._n 3.5_o we_o be_v not_o sufficient_a of_o ourselves_o to_o think_v any_o thing_n that_o be_v good_a as_o of_o ourselves_o etc._n etc._n now_o these_o evil_a thought_n which_o we_o now_o speak_v of_o an_z which_z according_o be_v to_o be_v forsake_v they_o may_v be_v rank_v into_o three_o sort_n especial_o 1._o as_o to_o matter_n of_o opinion_n 2._o of_o contemplation_n 3._o of_o design_n first_o as_o to_o matter_n of_o opinion_n take_v a_o man_n in_o his_o natural_a condition_n and_o he_o have_v many_o strange_a conceit_n in_o his_o head_n whilst_o he_o so_o remain_v as_o it_o be_v say_v concern_v the_o gentile_n rom._n 1.21_o they_o become_v vain_a in_o their_o imagination_n and_o their_o foolish_a heart_n be_v darken_v even_o so_o be_v it_o with_o such_o person_n they_o bring_v religion_n oftentimes_o to_o their_o carnal_a and_o corrupt_a reason_n and_o confine_v it_o to_o that_o but_o now_o convert_v grace_n where_o it_o come_v it_o overthrow_v they_o all_o cast_v down_o imagination_n etc._n etc._n 2_o cor._n 10.5_o to_o instance_n in_o some_o few_o particular_n first_o the_o thought_n of_o sin_n when_o a_o man_n be_v convert_v he_o forsake_v these_o and_o it_o concern_v he_o to_o do_v so_o take_v a_o man_n in_o his_o natural_a condition_n and_o he_o many_o time_n make_v nothing_o of_o sin_n he_o think_v it_o a_o very_a trifle_n and_o bauble_n and_o there_o be_v no_o great_a matter_n in_o it_o why_o a_o man_n shall_v trouble_v himself_o for_o it_o he_o think_v that_o there_o be_v no_o great_a hurt_n which_o can_v come_v to_o he_o by_o it_o nay_o he_o think_v it_o the_o great_a delight_n and_o contentment_n that_o may_v be_v fool_n make_v a_o mock_n of_o sin_n and_o it_o be_v a_o sport_n unto_o they_o to_o do_v evil_a as_o solomon_n tell_v we_o yea_o but_o when_o god_n open_v their_o eye_n and_o begin_v a_o little_a to_o awaken_v conscience_n and_o to_o reduce_v they_o and_o bring_v they_o home_o to_o himself_o than_o they_o come_v to_o be_v of_o another_o mind_n and_o it_o concern_v they_o to_o be_v so_o to_o look_v upon_o sin_n as_o the_o base_a and_o vile_a thing_n in_o the_o world_n and_o as_o carry_v the_o great_a evil_a and_o malignity_n in_o it_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o the_o appear_a pleasure_n and_o contentment_n of_o it_o it_o alter_v a_o man_n thought_n of_o sin_n so_o again_o also_o his_o thought_n of_o grace_n and_o godliness_n and_o godly_a man_n when_o a_o man_n be_v in_o his_o unregenerate_a state_n he_o have_v low_a thought_n and_o conceit_n of_o goodness_n and_o of_o those_o who_o be_v the_o follower_n of_o it_o think_v religion_n to_o be_v a_o empty_a business_n and_o strictness_n and_o exactness_n of_o conversation_n to_o be_v mere_a folly_n and_o godly_a man_n themselves_o to_o be_v so_o many_o fool_n and_o idiot_n that_o it_o be_v in_o vain_a to_o serve_v god_n and_o no_o profit_n to_o walk_v mournfulty_a before_o he_o as_o they_o say_v of_o it_o in_o malach._n 3.14_o and_o in_o job_n 21.15_o thus_o it_o be_v with_o paul_n himself_o before_o his_o conversion_n act._n 26.9_o i_o very_o think_v with_o myself_o say_v he_o that_o i_o ought_v to_o do_v many_o thing_n contrary_a to_o the_o name_n of_o jesus_n of_o nazzareth_n and_o so_o our_o saviour_n tell_v his_o disciple_n that_o there_o be_v some_o who_o will_v think_v that_o they_o shall_v do_v god_n service_n to_o kill_v they_o joh._n 16.2_o these_o be_v the_o thought_n which_o man_n be_v subject_a unto_o in_o their_o natural_a estate_n but_o now_o in_o conversion_n they_o must_v be_v all_o un-thought_a and_o lay_v aside_o so_o again_o far_o for_o his_o thought_n of_o god_n himself_o he_o must_v forsake_v these_o also_o and_o think_v otherwise_o of_o he_o what_o thought_n have_v man_n common_o of_o god_n in_o such_o a_o condition_n sure_o such_o as_o be_v very_o strange_a and_o irregular_a and_o that_o in_o reference_n to_o any_o of_o his_o attribute_n whether_o one_o or_o other_o we_o will_v but_o instance_n these_o two_o among_o the_o rest_n his_o justice_n and_o his_o mercy_n they_o have_v very_o sinister_a apprehension_n here_o sometime_o they_o question_v his_o justice_n and_o think_v he_o have_v little_a of_o that_o in_o he_o think_v he_o to_o be_v a_o indulgent_a god_n and_o one_o that_o will_v let_v they_o do_v as_o they_o listen_v without_o control_v as_o it_o be_v in_o psal_n 50.21_o thou_o think_v that_o i_o be_v altogether_o such_o a_o one_o as_o thyself_o god_n speak_v there_o to_o a_o unrighteous_a person_n who_o presume_v upon_o his_o patience_n towards_o he_o but_o withal_o he_o tell_v he_o that_o in_o the_o event_n he_o shall_v find_v it_o otherwise_o but_o i_o will_v reprove_v thou_o and_o will_v set_v thy_o sin_n in_o order_n before_o thy_o eye_n so_o again_o on_o the_o other_o side_n for_o god_n mercy_n there_o be_v sometime_o in_o another_o extreme_a now_o and_o then_o question_v of_o that_o and_o a_o think_v that_o it_o be_v no_o purpose_n for_o they_o to_o repent_v and_o be_v better_o for_o it_o shall_v notwithstanding_o be_v as_o bad_a with_o they_o for_o time_n
we_o now_o to_o shut_v up_o all_o with_o a_o word_n of_o use_n and_o application_n and_o so_o to_o conclude_v we_o have_v hear_v out_o of_o the_o word_n of_o the_o text_n three_o thing_n that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o monotor_n as_o this_o be_v a_o word_n behind_o we_o the_o effect_n and_o matter_n of_o the_o admonition_n this_o be_v the_o way_n etc._n etc._n and_o the_o occasion_n of_o it_o when_o we_o turn_v to_o etc._n etc._n now_o what_o remain_v to_o ourselves_o to_o be_v do_v by_o we_o upon_o these_o consideration_n two_o thing_n especial_o this_o observation_n be_v to_o be_v improve_v by_o we_o two_o manner_n of_o way_n first_o in_o a_o way_n of_o thankfulness_n and_o second_o in_o a_o way_n of_o obedience_n in_o a_o way_n of_o thankfulness_n first_o we_o be_v to_o bless_v god_n that_o he_o be_v please_v thus_o gracious_o to_o provide_v for_o we_o not_o only_o to_o instruct_v we_o by_o his_o word_n and_o his_o voice_n sound_v in_o out_o ear_n in_o the_o ministerial_a dispensation_n but_o also_o to_o admonish_v we_o by_o his_o spirit_n and_o the_o holy_a ghost_n move_v in_o our_o heart_n in_o our_o christian_a conversation_n this_o be_v a_o matter_n of_o great_a thankfulness_n and_o acknowledgement_n to_o we_o a_o faithful_a monitor_n be_v a_o very_a great_a advantage_n it_o be_v so_o betwixt_o man_n and_o man_n betwixt_o one_o friend_n and_o another_o to_o have_v one_o to_o tell_v they_o when_o they_o do_v amiss_o and_o to_o reform_v they_o in_o it_o or_o to_o direct_v they_o where_o they_o be_v at_o a_o loss_n and_o to_o instruct_v they_o about_o it_o this_o be_v that_o which_o god_n himself_o do_v for_o his_o people_n as_o we_o have_v hear_v all_o this_o while_n out_o of_o the_o text_n which_o be_v matter_n and_o occasion_n of_o great_a thankfulness_n and_o acknowledgement_n to_o they_o which_o their_o heart_n shall_v be_v very_o much_o take_v and_o affect_v with_o all_o it_o be_v a_o mercy_n and_o favour_n that_o god_n will_v afford_v these_o help_n unto_o we_o second_o we_o be_v to_o improve_v it_o by_o obedience_n and_o close_v with_o it_o see_v we_o have_v this_o word_n speak_v to_o we_o let_v we_o not_o stop_v there_o in_o the_o world_n which_o have_v such_o thing_n as_o these_o be_v daily_a and_o continual_o sound_v in_o their_o ear_n in_o case_n of_o omission_n and_o neglect_n of_o duty_n this_o be_v the_o way_n walk_v you_o in_o it_o these_o thing_n they_o be_v to_o be_v do_v and_o perform_v by_o you_o it_o be_v not_o safe_a for_o you_o to_o let_v they_o alone_o again_o in_o case_n of_o commit_v of_o evil_n and_o way_n of_o extravagancy_n this_o be_v out_o of_o the_o way_n do_v not_o walk_v in_o it_o you_o be_v out_o of_o your_o place_n of_o your_o call_v of_o your_o duty_n which_o be_v to_o be_v do_v by_o you_o nay_o you_o walk_v opposite_a and_o contrary_a to_o it_o how_o many_o be_v there_o in_o the_o world_n which_o in_o their_o lewd_a and_o ungodly_a course_n of_o drunkeness_n filthiness_n uncleanness_n evil_a company_n consume_v and_o such_o practice_n as_o these_o have_v many_o a_o sad_a check_n upon_o their_o conscience_n restrain_v of_o they_o and_o a_o voice_n behind_o they_o pull_v they_o back_o now_o let_v all_o these_o consider_v how_o far_o they_o harken_v and_o give_v ear_n unto_o it_o it_o be_v a_o dangerous_a thing_n to_o stifle_v the_o motion_n of_o god_n spirit_n or_o to_o stop_v their_o ear_n against_o the_o voice_n of_o his_o word_n no_o but_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o present_a close_v and_o compliance_n with_o it_o as_o young_a samuel_n when_o god_n call_v he_o speak_v lord_n thy_o servant_n hear_v so_o shall_v we_o do_v in_o these_o case_n we_o shall_v receive_v and_o entertain_v his_o motion_n and_o turn_v those_o motion_n into_o purpose_n and_o those_o purpose_n into_o practice_n in_o ourselves_o we_o shall_v never_o suffer_v such_o good_a hint_n as_o these_o be_v to_o die_v in_o we_o especial_o consider_v this_o for_o our_o encouragement_n that_o as_o god_n motion_n follow_v his_o instruction_n so_o his_o assistance_n always_o follow_v his_o motion_n in_o the_o tender_v of_o it_o look_v as_o he_o never_o show_v we_o the_o way_n but_o he_o do_v also_o move_v we_o to_o walk_v in_o it_o that_o our_o practice_n may_v be_v answerable_a to_o our_o knowledge_n so_o likewise_o he_o never_o move_v we_o to_o walk_v in_o any_o way_n which_o he_o show_v we_o but_o he_o do_v likewise_o offer_v we_o at_o the_o same_o time_n some_o kind_n of_o help_n to_o walk_v in_o it_o therefore_o now_o not_o to_o close_v with_o he_o be_v not_o only_o to_o refuse_v his_o counsel_n but_o likewise_o consequent_o to_o reject_v his_o assistance_n more_o or_o less_o which_o he_o do_v exhibit_v to_o we_o whereby_o we_o offer_v a_o double_a injury_n to_o the_o spirit_n of_o grace_n and_o here_o further_o let_v we_o consider_v the_o danger_n and_o hazard_n of_o such_o a_o course_n as_o this_o be_v which_o be_v manifold_a and_o various_a first_o god_n future_a silence_n where_o he_o be_v not_o regard_v he_o will_v speak_v no_o more_o especial_o have_v speak_v to_o we_o very_o often_o for_o some_o time_n already_o past_a and_o let_v we_o think_v with_o ourselves_o what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v deprive_v of_o such_o a_o bless_a motion_n as_o this_o be_v but_o second_o that_o be_v not_o all_o thare'_v a_o suffering_n of_o another_o voice_n to_o speak_v in_o we_o and_o if_o we_o look_v not_o to_o it_o to_o prevail_v upon_o we_o they_o that_o harken_v not_o to_o the_o voice_n of_o god_n in_o they_o they_o be_v many_o time_n give_v up_o to_o satan_n and_o their_o own_o corruption_n to_o work_v upon_o they_o to_o rule_v and_o bear_v sway_n in_o they_o this_o be_v plain_a by_o that_o of_o the_o prophet_n david_n speak_v in_o the_o name_n of_o god_n concern_v israel_n my_o people_n will_v not_o hearken_v to_o my_o counsel_n and_o israel_n will_v have_v none_o of_o i_o so_o i_o give_v they_o up_o to_o their_o own_o heart_n lust_n and_o they_o walk_v in_o their_o own_o imagination_n prov._n 1.30.31_o sermon_n xl._n esay_n 40.31_o butthey_v that_o wait_n upon_o the_o lordsh_fw-mi all_fw-mi renew_v their_o the_o like_a infirmity_n and_o affection_n with_o other_o man_n though_o it_o will_v very_o much_o become_v we_o to_o have_v as_o few_o of_o they_o as_o needs_o must_v and_o a_o great_a deal_n few_o among_o they_o and_o so_o likewise_o will_v be_v to_o the_o end_n of_o the_o world_n as_o long_o as_o there_o be_v any_o which_o have_v any_o save_a work_n in_o their_o heart_n their_o ministry_n himself_o in_o the_o execution_n of_o his_o ministry_n to_o the_o heart_n and_o conscience_n of_o those_o which_o be_v faithful_a that_o they_o may_v be_v sure_a to_o close_v with_o he_o this_o shall_v likewise_o be_v the_o desire_n and_o ambition_n of_o all_o other_o beside_o to_o be_v make_v manifest_a in_o the_o conscience_n of_o those_o which_o be_v the_o people_n of_o god_n whether_o in_o regard_n of_o their_o doctrine_n or_o their_o life_n to_o deliver_v such_o truth_n as_o be_v make_v good_a in_o their_o experience_n and_o to_o lead_v such_o life_n as_o be_v suitable_a and_o agreeable_a to_o their_o principle_n and_o the_o practice_n of_o they_o those_o man_n that_o walk_v not_o in_o the_o way_n of_o good_a man_n they_o may_v well_o think_v they_o step_v aside_o and_o so_o be_v opposite_a to_o our_o doctrine_n those_o point_n and_o doctrine_n in_o divinity_n be_v very_o questionable_a and_o suspicious_a and_o do_v expose_v the_o teacher_n of_o they_o to_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o just_a censure_n and_o exception_n which_o do_v thwart_v and_o cross_v and_o contradict_v the_o common_a sense_n and_o feeling_n and_o experiment_n of_o those_o which_o be_v most_o godly_a and_o religious_a and_o have_v the_o work_n of_o save_a grace_n in_o their_o heart_n such_o be_v those_o point_n in_o particular_a of_o freewill_n of_o universal_a redemption_n of_o uncertainty_n of_o salvation_n the_o resistibility_n of_o conversion_n of_o fall_v from_o grace_n of_o conditional_a election_n and_o the_o like_a they_o be_v such_o as_o do_v not_o only_o swerve_v from_o the_o plain_a doctrine_n of_o the_o scripture_n but_o likewise_o do_v very_o much_o fall_v short_a of_o the_o experience_n of_o the_o servant_n of_o god_n who_o need_v no_o other_o argument_n against_o they_o than_o what_o they_o find_v in_o their_o own_o heart_n and_o conscience_n as_o fight_v with_o they_o so_o those_o which_o be_v the_o teacher_n of_o they_o as_o therein_o they_o be_v not_o manifest_a to_o god_n so_o neither_o be_v they_o manifest_v in_o the_o conscience_n of_o godly_a man_n which_o it_o will_v well_o become_v they_o to_o be_v for_o their_o own_o great_a satisfaction_n as_o well_o as_o other_o and_o which_o st._n paul_n here_o seem_v so_o to_o desire_v second_o as_o there_o be_v his_o desire_n in_o it_o so_o there_o be_v also_o his_o confidence_n and_o expectation_n i_o hope_v or_o trust_v that_o be_v i_o believe_v and_o make_v account_n of_o it_o it_o be_v a_o word_n of_o triumphant_a expression_n as_o you_o have_v another_o of_o the_o like_a nature_n with_o it_o 1_o cor._n 7.6_o i_o think_v also_o etc._n etc._n the_o apostle_n be_v persuade_v of_o it_o that_o so_o it_o be_v with_o he_o that_o he_o be_v make_v manifest_a in_o their_o conscience_n and_o this_o again_o he_o be_v upon_o a_o double_a motive_n or_o consideration_n first_o from_o his_o own_o integrity_n and_o second_o from_o their_o ingenuity_n he_o know_v that_o himself_o do_v deserve_v and_o he_o know_v likewise_o that_o they_o be_v of_o themselves_o ready_a to_o embrace_v it_o first_o i_o say_v he_o know_v his_o own_o integrity_n that_o himself_o do_v deserve_v it_o the_o best_a way_n for_o any_o one_o to_o expect_v to_o be_v make_v manifest_a to_o other_o be_v first_o to_o be_v make_v manifest_a to_o himself_o and_o that_o he_o may_v be_v approve_v of_o in_o other_o conscience_n to_o be_v approve_v of_o first_o in_o his_o own_o they_o who_o be_v own_o heart_n condemn_v and_o upon_o a_o just_a examination_n of_o they_o do_v bear_v witness_n against_o they_o they_o may_v be_v very_o well_o afraid_a of_o other_o and_o think_v that_o they_o will_v not_o have_v that_o opinion_n of_o they_o as_o perhaps_o they_o can_v desire_v they_o may_v have_v second_o as_o the_o apostle_n conclude_v it_o from_o his_o own_o integrity_n so_o likewise_o from_o the_o ingenuity_n of_o the_o person_n which_o he_o have_v to_o deal_v withal_o if_o a_o man_n be_v never_o so_o upright_a and_o sincere_a in_o his_o own_o heart_n and_o never_o so_o careful_a to_o approve_v what_o he_o do_v to_o his_o own_o conscience_n yet_o if_o he_o be_v to_o deal_v with_o captious_a person_n and_o those_o which_o have_v a_o mind_n to_o wrangle_v and_o contest_v and_o pick_v a_o quarrel_n with_o he_o he_o shall_v never_o approve_v himself_o to_o those_o for_o all_o this_o but_o these_o corinthian_n be_v not_o so_o especial_o those_o which_o be_v the_o grave_a and_o godly_a among_o they_o which_o the_o apostle_n do_v here_o principal_o intend_v these_o they_o have_v other_o kind_n of_o mind_n and_o disposition_n in_o they_o which_o be_v that_o which_o make_v he_o to_o be_v so_o confident_a and_o persuade_v of_o they_o i_o trust_v we_o be_v make_v manifest_a in_o your_o conscience_n there_o be_v a_o emphasis_n in_o both_o of_o the_o word_n whether_o in_o conscience_n or_o in_o you_o and_o according_o we_o may_v take_v notice_n of_o it_o to_o your_o conscience_n not_o to_o your_o fancy_n to_o your_o conscience_n not_o to_o your_o humour_n to_o your_o conscience_n not_o to_o your_o lust_n and_o then_o to_o your_o conscience_n not_o to_o the_o conscience_n of_o stranger_n to_o religion_n to_o your_o conscience_n not_o to_o the_o conscience_n of_o enemy_n to_o religion_n to_o your_o conscience_n not_o to_o the_o conscience_n of_o the_o false_a teacher_n and_o false_a apostle_n among_o you_o which_o labour_v all_o they_o can_v to_o pervert_v and_o entice_v and_o corrupt_v you_o in_o your_o conscience_n we_o be_v make_v no_o hope_n be_v because_o they_o have_v a_o stupefy_v conscience_n and_o a_o mind_n not_o exercise_v to_o discern_v betwixt_o good_a and_o evil_n second_o from_o a_o spirit_n of_o delusion_n and_o misconstruction_n wicked_a man_n they_o have_v many_o false_a reason_n and_o arguing_n in_o they_o which_o make_v they_o to_o speak_v peace_n to_o themselves_o where_o there_o be_v no_o cause_n or_o
