be_v the_o first_o practiser_n for_o god_n himself_o perform_v all_o those_o service_n unto_o noah_n in_o the_o ark_n else_o it_o have_v never_o save_v he_o this_o be_v so_o it_o be_v the_o more_o grief_n to_o see_v that_o worthy_a call_n so_o abuse_v and_o debase_v as_o it_o be_v the_o most_o of_o they_o that_o practice_n it_o be_v profane_a ungodly_a and_o dissolute_a man_n such_o man_n shall_v remember_v god_n make_v the_o first_o ship_n and_o god_n be_v the_o first_o master_n and_o the_o first_o mariner_n the_o first_o pilot_n the_o first_o governor_n of_o a_o ship_n and_o they_o shall_v labour_v to_o be_v like_o he_o this_o be_v one_o of_o those_o few_o calling_n which_o may_v say_v god_n himself_o be_v the_o first_o deviser_n and_o practiser_n of_o it_o all_o calling_n can_v say_v so_o why_o then_o shall_v they_o so_o far_o forget_v who_o they_o succeed_v indeed_o upon_o the_o sea_n and_o in_o distress_n they_o will_v make_v some_o profession_n of_o religion_n but_o let_v his_o household_n namely_o because_o god_n do_v govern_v it_o in_o the_o next_o place_n observe_v the_o end_n and_o use_v of_o the_o ark_n it_o be_v to_o save_v this_o holy_a man_n and_o his_o household_n learn_v here_o that_o god_n servant_n in_o common_a calamity_n have_v safety_n for_o god_n himself_o give_v they_o security_n and_o provide_v deliverance_n thus_o be_v it_o ever_o when_o god_n proceed_v in_o judgement_n against_o jerusalem_n for_o the_o sin_n thereof_o he_o mark_v the_o godly_a in_o their_o forehead_n namely_o such_o as_o mourn_v and_o cry_v for_o the_o abomination_n which_o be_v do_v against_o god_n ezech._n 9.4_o when_o sodom_n must_v be_v destroy_v righteous_a lot_n and_o his_o family_n must_v be_v draw_v out_o nay_o the_o angel_n can_v do_v nothing_o till_o he_o be_v safe_a genesis_n 19.16.22_o when_o the_o destroy_a angel_n go_v over_o the_o land_n of_o egypt_n and_o destroy_v the_o first_o bear_v in_o every_o house_n of_o the_o egyptian_n the_o tribulation_n must_v come_v one_o way_n or_o other_o for_o this_o be_v always_o the_o state_n of_o god_n church_n now_o peace_n now_o persecution_n peace_n abuse_v cause_v trouble_v and_o calamity_n therefore_o as_o we_o have_v so_o long_o have_v peace_n and_o ease_n so_o assure_o look_v for_o a_o flood_n what_o it_o will_v be_v or_o when_o know_v no_o man_n only_o he_o who_o will_v send_v it_o the_o righteous_a and_o almighty_a god_n how_o then_o shall_v we_o do_v when_o the_o flood_n of_o tribulation_n be_v upon_o we_o there_o be_v no_o way_n but_o one_o believe_v in_o christ_n jesus_n settle_v thy_o heart_n in_o true_a faith_n repent_v of_o thy_o sin_n get_v god_n favour_n and_o forgiveness_n and_o then_o when_o the_o flood_n come_v god_n providence_n shall_v afford_v thou_o one_o eue._n but_o now_o by_o the_o second_o curse_n in_o the_o flood_n all_o her_o beauty_n be_v go_v she_o and_o all_o her_o glory_n be_v overrun_v spoil_v and_o deface_v so_o that_o it_o have_v be_v a_o perish_v by_o the_o flood_n have_v now_o more_o need_n to_o be_v recover_v by_o the_o hand_n and_o help_n of_o many_o man_n labour_n and_o to_o this_o purpose_n the_o scripture_n say_v gen._n 9.19_o &_o 10.32_o that_o the_o earth_n be_v divide_v among_o the_o three_o son_n of_o noah_n and_o they_o live_v not_o all_o together_o but_o overspread_v the_o earth_n and_o lest_o the_o beast_n which_o then_o be_v many_o shall_v overgrowe_v the_o world_n therefore_o god_n will_v have_v the_o earth_n speedy_o replenish_v &_o to_o that_o end_n noah_n &_o his_o wife_n have_v never_o a_o servant_n in_o the_o ark_n but_o only_o such_o as_o shall_v have_v child_n their_o 3._o son_n and_o their_o wife_n and_o thus_o the_o multiplication_n of_o mankind_n be_v the_o first_o cause_n why_o god_n save_v noah_n child_n the_o second_o cause_n it_o be_v likely_a that_o as_o himself_o be_v a_o righteous_a man_n so_o they_o of_o his_o family_n be_v more_o orderly_a and_o religious_a than_o other_o of_o person_n which_o to_o other_o or_o at_o another_o time_n may_v be_v lawful_a second_o whereas_o it_o be_v say_v these_o servant_n of_o god_n wander_v up_o and_o down_o we_o do_v learn_v that_o a_o man_n may_v lawful_o go_v from_o place_n to_o place_n and_o travel_v from_o country_n to_o country_n if_o so_o be_v he_o go_v in_o faith_n as_o these_o man_n do_v again_o their_o go_n be_v to_o keep_v faith_n and_o a_o good_a conscience_n and_o for_o the_o same_o end_n may_v any_o man_n lawful_o travel_v from_o place_n to_o place_n but_o when_o man_n go_v not_o in_o faith_n nor_o yet_o for_o this_o end_n the_o better_a to_o keep_v a_o good_a conscience_n there_o undoubted_o their_o travel_n be_v not_o lawful_a by_o this_o then_o we_o have_v just_a cause_n to_o reprove_v the_o bad_a course_n of_o many_o night-wanderer_n among_o we_o as_o first_o of_o our_o common_a beggar_n who_o whole_a life_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o wander_a from_o place_n to_o place_n though_o not_o in_o faith_n nor_o for_o conscience_n sake_n but_o they_o find_v a_o sweetness_n in_o their_o idle_a kind_n of_o life_n and_o therefore_o they_o wander_v because_o they_o will_v not_o work_v now_o this_o their_o course_n have_v no_o other_o ground_n but_o love_n of_o idleness_n and_o contempt_n of_o pain_n in_o a_o lawful_a calling_n can_v be_v but_o great_o displease_v unto_o god_n who_o enjoin_v that_o every_o man_n shall_v walk_v in_o some_o lawful_a call_n and_o eat_v his_o own_o bread_n this_o they_o do_v not_o and_o therefore_o the_o curse_n of_o god_n pursue_v they_o for_o general_o they_o be_v not_o for_o religion_n sake_n for_o that_o be_v commendable_a if_o they_o have_v such_o need_n nor_o yet_o by_o virtue_n of_o their_o call_n which_o be_v lawful_a but_o only_o for_o this_o end_n to_o see_v fashion_n and_o strange_a country_n and_o they_o refrain_v not_o from_o such_o place_n as_o rome_n spain_n etc._n etc._n wherein_o that_o cruel_a inquisition_n will_v hardly_o suffer_v any_o to_o pass_v with_o safety_n of_o a_o good_a conscience_n but_o shall_v we_o think_v that_o this_o their_o travel_n be_v commendable_a no_o sure_o for_o the_o end_n of_o lawful_a travel_n be_v the_o preservation_n of_o faith_n and_o a_o good_a conscience_n â—r_o the_o bond_n of_o some_o lawful_a call_n now_o these_o man_n travel_v upon_o no_o such_o ground_n but_o only_o upon_o pleasure_n how_o like_a may_v be_v observe_v in_o other_o famous_a prophet_n and_o servant_n of_o god_n eliiah_n wear_v a_o garment_n of_o hair_n and_o thereby_o be_v know_v 2._o king_n 1.8_o and_o so_o do_v john_n baptist_n matth._n 3.4_o yea_o the_o false_a prophet_n go_v so_o array_v that_o they_o may_v the_o rather_o be_v respect_v of_o the_o people_n zach._n 13.4_o and_o our_o saviour_n christ_n say_v the_o false_a prophet_n shall_v come_v in_o sheep_n clothing_n like_o the_o true_a prophet_n when_o as_o indeed_o they_o be_v raven_a wolf_n now_o the_o true_a prophet_n of_o god_n go_v thus_o base_o attire_v that_o not_o only_o by_o word_n and_o doctrine_n but_o also_o in_o life_n in_o conversation_n they_o may_v preach_v repentance_n unto_o the_o people_n and_o indeed_o every_o minister_n of_o the_o gospel_n aught_o to_o be_v a_o light_n unto_o his_o people_n both_o in_o life_n and_o doctrine_n and_o he_o that_o preach_v well_o and_o do_v not_o live_v according_a to_o his_o doctrine_n goat_n skin_n it_o be_v for_o poverty_n sake_n be_v deprive_v of_o friend_n good_n house_n and_o land_n and_o so_o destitute_a of_o provision_n for_o better_a attire_n in_o their_o example_n we_o may_v note_v that_o god_n servant_n and_o child_n may_v be_v bring_v to_o extreme_a poverty_n and_o necessity_n so_o as_o they_o shall_v want_v ordinary_a food_n and_o raiment_n and_o be_v fain_o to_o cover_v themselves_o with_o beast_n skin_n this_o be_v the_o poor_a state_n and_o condition_n of_o godly_a lazarus_n yea_o christ_n jesus_n for_o our_o sake_n do_v undergo_v a_o mean_a estate_n for_o he_o have_v not_o a_o place_n whereon_o to_o lay_v his_o head_n and_o at_o his_o death_n he_o have_v not_o so_o much_o ground_n of_o his_o own_o as_o may_v serve_v for_o a_o burial_n place_n but_o old_a yet_o i_o never_o see_v the_o righteous_a forsake_v nor_o his_o seed_n beg_v bread_n psalm_n 37._o verse_n 25._o answer_n david_n saying_n may_v be_v take_v two_o way_n first_o as_o his_o own_o observation_n in_o his_o time_n for_o he_o say_v not_o the_o righteous_a be_v never_o forsake_v but_o that_o he_o never_o see_v it_o and_o indeed_o it_o be_v a_o rare_a thing_n to_o see_v the_o righteous_a forsake_v second_o which_o i_o take_v to_o be_v david_n meaning_n the_o righteous_a man_n be_v never_o forsake_v and_o his_o seed_n too_o for_o if_o god_n lie_v a_o temporal_a obedience_n before_o he_o he_o may_v make_v trial_n of_o godly_a parent_n by_o want_n but_o their_o godly_a child_n shall_v sure_o be_v bless_v so_o that_o this_o hinder_v not_o but_o that_o the_o godly_a may_v be_v in_o want_n further_o whereas_o they_o be_v say_v to_o go_v up_o and_o down_o in_o sheep_n skin_n and_o goat_n skin_n we_o must_v understand_v that_o they_o do_v it_o by_o faith_n from_o whence_o we_o learn_v that_o when_o all_o temporal_a blessing_n fail_v than_o the_o child_n of_o god_n must_v by_o faith_n lie_v hold_v upon_o god_n gracious_a promise_n of_o life_n eternal_a and_o stay_v himself_o thereon_o this_o point_n must_v be_v remember_v careful_o for_o say_v we_o shall_v want_v all_o kind_n of_o temporal_a benefit_n must_v we_o thereupon_o despair_v and_o think_v in_o good_a duty_n a_o fault_n nothing_o less_o but_o hence_o it_o be_v he_o that_o outward_o be_v most_o forward_o may_v come_v in_o hypocrisy_n &_o without_o faith_n the_o want_n whereof_o make_v his_o forwardness_n nothing_o worth_a many_o such_o have_v we_o in_o our_o church_n great_a frequenter_n of_o place_n and_o exercise_n of_o religion_n and_o yet_o they_o come_v but_o as_o cain_n do_v as_o well_o as_o abel_n that_o worship_v in_o truth_n so_o be_v it_o in_o the_o infancy_n so_o in_o her_o perpetual_a growth_n &_o so_o shall_v it_o be_v in_o the_o last_o age_n of_o the_o church_n the_o good_a shall_v never_o be_v quite_o separate_v from_o the_o bad_a until_o christ_n himself_o do_v it_o at_o the_o last_o judgement_n goat_n shall_v always_o be_v mingle_v among_o the_o sheep_n
