distress_n and_o cross_n that_o ever_o they_o shall_v wade_v out_o of_o they_o as_o we_o read_v of_o that_o prince_n of_o jehoram_n in_o israel_n in_o a_o before_o famine_n who_o hear_v the_o prophet_n message_n from_o god_n touch_v sudden_a plenty_n that_o shall_v be_v on_o the_o next_o day_n he_o say_v though_o the_o lord_n will_v make_v window_n in_o heaven_n to_o pour_v down_o 2._o corn_n and_o provision_n yet_o this_o thing_n can_v not_o come_v to_o pass_v what_o be_v this_o else_o but_o a_o bold_a presume_v in_o great_a blindness_n of_o that_o which_o he_o apprehend_v not_o and_o a_o very_a derision_n of_o the_o prophecy_n and_o the_o like_a we_o see_v daily_o in_o such_o brutish_a people_n who_o hear_v we_o preach_v this_o doctrine_n of_o depend_v upon_o god_n all_o sufficiency_n by_o faith_n even_o in_o affliction_n do_v little_o better_o than_o scoff_n at_o it_o give_v we_o wealth_n say_v they_o and_o corn_n and_o wine_n give_v we_o our_o fill_n of_o meat_n 7._o and_o drink_v and_o money_n and_o as_o for_o faith_n take_v it_o who_o will_n therefore_o while_o they_o prosper_v they_o be_v as_o merry_a as_o nabal_n but_o if_o god_n give_v they_o a_o sudden_a blow_n it_o strike_v they_o down_o flat_a they_o neither_o have_v any_o armour_n to_o bear_v off_o the_o dint_n thereof_o neither_o faith_n to_o believe_v that_o it_o shall_v ever_o be_v any_o better_a with_o they_o but_o much_o worse_o their_o evil_a conscience_n make_v they_o fear_n that_o this_o trouble_n or_o that_o disgrace_n either_o sickness_n or_o loss_n will_v be_v their_o undo_n and_o as_o hamans_n friend_n comfort_v he_o so_o they_o do_v themselves_o hest_n 6._o and_o that_o 13._o be_v thus_o thou_o shâ—lt_v sure_o fall_v and_o yet_o in_o their_o jollity_n who_o it_o just_o as_o a_o blessing_n and_o reward_n of_o their_o education_n to_o the_o shame_n i_o speak_v it_o of_o such_o loose_a person_n as_o who_o child_n religion_n shame_v the_o ignorance_n and_o ungodliness_n of_o their_o parent_n three_o this_o redound_v to_o the_o honour_n of_o god_n and_o his_o faithfulness_n when_o one_o posterity_n after_o another_o for_o some_o generation_n shall_v be_v find_v to_o know_v the_o god_n of_o their_o father_n in_o who_o step_n to_o walk_v it_o be_v to_o they_o a_o worthy_a commendation_n before_o man_n but_o much_o more_o in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n as_o timothy_n a_o godly_a child_n and_o grandchild_n 5._o be_v commend_v second_o here_o in_o that_o the_o lord_n do_v raise_v a_o deliverer_n out_o of_o the_o tribe_n of_o rest_n dan_n in_o which_o this_o place_n zorah_n be_v near_o to_o eshtaol_n and_o verse_n 25._o show_v this_o tribe_n be_v one_o of_o the_o mean_a it_o teach_v that_o god_n will_v serve_v himself_o by_o the_o mean_a sort_n not_o for_o we_o to_o scorn_v and_o reproach_v such_o who_o the_o lord_n by_o their_o gift_n will_v exalt_v though_o this_o be_v to_o be_v add_v that_o neither_o mean_a nor_o mighty_a shall_v have_v any_o cause_n in_o the_o end_n to_o rejoice_v in_o their_o preferment_n otherwise_o than_o they_o have_v well_o and_o right_o use_v their_o place_n and_o themselves_o in_o it_o with_o their_o gift_n and_o as_o i_o have_v say_v of_o outward_a place_n and_o advancement_n in_o the_o world_n so_o i_o say_v of_o inward_a grace_n and_o gift_n of_o the_o spirit_n that_o even_o out_o of_o the_o mean_a or_o middle_a sort_n of_o people_n the_o lord_n choose_v many_o yea_o most_o to_o be_v heir_n of_o salvation_n and_o to_o use_v our_o saviour_n word_n matth._n 11._o to_o be_v season_v 5._o with_o the_o gospel_n by_o believe_v for_o so_o i_o expound_v the_o word_n and_o doubtless_o in_o comparison_n of_o these_o few_o great_a one_o be_v call_v nay_o many_o 26._o who_o have_v strive_v against_o mediocrity_n of_o estate_n which_o yet_o agur_n prefer_v as_o the_o best_a to_o serve_v god_n in_o they_o have_v forsake_v their_o own_o mercy_n see_v more_o in_o the_o ten_o chapter_n 1._o 2._o 3._o verse_n thereof_o the_o angel_n speak_v to_o she_o of_o her_o barrenness_n that_o she_o may_v receive_v the_o 3._o message_n of_o bear_v a_o child_n more_o thankful_o and_o joyful_o for_o barrenness_n in_o those_o day_n be_v general_o hold_v a_o kind_n of_o curse_n as_o i_o note_v in_o chap._n 12._o the_o end_n and_o fruitfulness_n a_o blessing_n but_o we_o see_v that_o god_n turn_v this_o curse_n to_o a_o blessing_n and_o it_o be_v count_v no_o doubt_n by_o this_o woman_n a_o great_a work_n of_o his_o mercy_n that_o he_o give_v a_o child_n to_o her_o be_v barren_a as_o well_o as_o of_o his_o power_n as_o david_n reckon_v it_o thus_o do_v the_o lord_n make_v way_n for_o the_o thankful_a entertain_v of_o his_o mercy_n by_o lay_v before_o we_o our_o want_n and_o insufficiency_n 37._o and_o themselves_o for_o while_o they_o seek_v to_o avoid_v worldly_a sorrow_n for_o a_o while_n which_o have_v come_v by_o their_o trouble_n but_o much_o less_o they_o be_v plunge_v into_o a_o far_o great_a even_o to_o torment_v their_o conscience_n with_o deadly_a sting_n of_o sorrow_n by_o their_o sin_n which_o of_o a_o long_a time_n will_v not_o be_v pluck_v out_o so_o the_o jew_n seek_v liberty_n by_o put_v christ_n to_o death_n yet_o when_o 11._o thereby_o he_o rise_v rise_v again_o from_o death_n it_o cut_v their_o heart_n deeply_o and_o imbondaged_a they_o much_o more_o i_o speak_v of_o such_o as_o be_v not_o sear_v with_o a_o hot_a iron_n and_o so_o much_o the_o rather_o for_o that_o they_o have_v thereby_o bring_v his_o blood_n upon_o they_o and_o their_o child_n in_o one_o kind_n yet_o he_o shall_v never_o enjoy_v his_o pennyworth_n with_o comfort_n but_o rather_o with_o a_o check_v and_o upbraid_v conscience_n if_o he_o do_v not_o at_o length_n with_o weariness_n renounce_v it_o and_o cast_v it_o away_o as_o judas_n do_v his_o wage_n of_o iniquity_n but_o he_o that_o lose_v his_o 3._o life_n that_o be_v trust_v god_n with_o his_o most_o precious_a liberty_n rather_o than_o he_o will_v run_v upon_o the_o pike_n to_o have_v his_o will_n he_o shall_v find_v it_o as_o hester_n do_v by_o save_v note_n it_o or_o as_o the_o good_a martyr_n do_v by_o with_o the_o shift_n that_o attend_v upon_o it_o beside_o prevent_v of_o many_o after-reckoning_n of_o sorrow_n and_o punishment_n which_o a_o evil_a conscience_n make_v unsufferable_a especial_o if_o the_o same_o mischief_n light_n upon_o they_o which_o with_o so_o dear_a a_o price_n they_o seek_v to_o avoid_v very_o heathen_n can_v say_v that_o vengeance_n will_v not_o suffer_v the_o guilty_a to_o 4._o escape_v though_o they_o may_v shift_v for_o the_o present_a but_o the_o word_n of_o god_n teach_v we_o the_o cause_n because_o the_o god_n of_o vengeance_n be_v the_o lord_n of_o host_n and_o have_v a_o hundred_o soldier_n arm_v to_o meet_v with_o his_o enemy_n though_o he_o have_v escape_v one_o it_o be_v as_o if_o a_o man_n have_v shun_v a_o bear_n shall_v meet_v 19_o with_o a_o lion_n he_o have_v escape_v the_o former_a but_o he_o be_v still_o in_o chase_n never_o at_o rest_n till_o he_o be_v destroy_v and_o he_o have_v be_v better_a to_o have_v yield_v to_o the_o first_o the_o story_n of_o all_o church_n verify_v this_o truth_n in_o the_o example_n of_o abiur_a hypocrite_n who_o meet_v with_o worse_a measure_n when_o god_n take_v they_o in_o hand_n than_o they_o shun_v at_o the_o hand_n of_o man_n for_o the_o wisdom_n of_o man_n be_v foolishness_n with_o 20._o god_n now_o in_o these_o two_o verse_n the_o other_o way_n be_v set_v down_o whereby_o samson_n 8._o not_o able_a to_o resist_v he_o this_o as_o the_o best_a exposition_n in_o my_o opinion_n leave_v other_o to_o their_o own_o judgement_n of_o these_o word_n he_o smite_v they_o hip_n and_o thigh_n with_o a_o mighty_a plague_n i_o set_v down_o not_o trouble_v the_o reader_n with_o other_o opinion_n about_o it_o now_o by_o this_o extraordinary_a strength_n that_o he_o have_v thus_o to_o spurn_v mercy_n whereof_o they_o have_v no_o promise_n and_o so_o at_o length_n that_o be_v verify_v of_o they_o which_o be_v write_v by_o the_o prophet_n though_o they_o escape_v a_o bear_n yet_o a_o lion_n shall_v devour_v they_o yea_o and_o often_o that_o which_o they_o least_o fear_n shall_v be_v their_o undo_n now_o this_o caveat_n let_v i_o 19_o add_v to_o the_o doctrine_n lest_o i_o be_v mistake_v have_v faith_n nevertheless_o to_o 17._o believe_v that_o he_o will_v bring_v they_o well_o through_o which_o i_o speak_v to_o control_v the_o fantastical_a spirit_n of_o some_o who_o affirm_v that_o the_o substance_n of_o his_o prayer_n and_o that_o be_v that_o he_o have_v 5_o employ_v himself_o to_o glorify_v god_n name_n may_v not_o be_v deliver_v into_o the_o hand_n of_o the_o uncircumcised_a and_o he_o say_v further_a i_o be_v set_v by_o thou_o o_o lord_n to_o judge_v over_o thy_o people_n suffer_v i_o not_o to_o come_v into_o their_o hand_n and_o power_n contrary_a to_o that_o which_o themselves_o from_o the_o fellowship_n of_o their_o brethren_n as_o hear_v the_o word_n and_o use_v of_o other_o mean_n and_o so_o by_o degree_n wax_v loose_a and_o harden_a other_o beguile_v with_o the_o snare_n of_o the_o world_n other_o with_o pomp_n not_o a_o few_o with_o voluptuousness_n or_o other_o sinful_a lust_n have_v cry_v out_o of_o their_o estate_n not_o for_o their_o loss_n of_o some_o outward_a blessing_n as_o naomi_n do_v but_o even_o the_o chief_a i_o mean_v inward_a peace_n towards_o god_n and_o hope_v of_o pardon_n and_o yet_o such_o of_o they_o as_o be_v not_o hypocrite_n god_n have_v make_v that_o very_a affliction_n under_o which_o they_o have_v groan_v to_o break_v their_o heart_n &_o to_o reclaim_v they_o though_o their_o former_a grace_n and_o honour_n they_o never_o recover_v and_o the_o like_a danger_n lie_v all_o open_a unto_o who_o dare_v tempt_v god_n as_o they_o do_v and_o wax_v wanton_a as_o if_o grace_n shall_v abound_v by_o the_o abundance_n of_o their_o sin_n such_o as_o be_v in_o this_o case_n i_o shall_v say_v more_o to_o in_o the_o handle_n of_o samson_n sorrow_n and_o affliction_n that_o follow_v his_o fall_n but_o
