proceed_n of_o the_o assembly_n but_o do_v meet_v together_o apart_o to_o do_v the_o work_n of_o the_o lord_n incumbent_a to_o they_o therefore_o they_o must_v be_v account_v divider_n from_o their_o presbytery_n and_o in_o another_o presbytery_n which_o in_o time_n of_o the_o trouble_n have_v not_o meet_v for_o a_o year_n some_o protester_n at_o the_o instigation_n of_o some_o of_o their_o leader_n have_v call_v the_o brethren_n together_o occasional_o without_o conveen_a moderator_n and_o clerk_n do_v approve_v of_o the_o protestation_n against_o the_o assembly_n at_o st._n andrews_n and_o dundee_n which_o when_o some_o brethren_n who_o meet_v with_o they_o perceive_v they_o desert_v that_o meeting_n and_o do_v acquaint_v the_o moderator_n therewith_o who_o as_o it_o be_v proper_a minister_n have_v be_v warrant_v to_o counteract_v the_o determination_n of_o presbytery_n when_o their_o superior_a judicatories_n have_v condemn_v these_o their_o determination_n and_o repone_v the_o party_n injure_v to_o their_o right_n we_o hope_v be_v agreeable_a to_o the_o rule_n of_o government_n and_o what_o else_o they_o can_v mean_v by_o that_o general_a challenge_n we_o confess_v we_o can_v divine_v 4._o that_o synod_n have_v find_v mal-administrations_a in_o presbytery_n and_o so_o have_v take_v matter_n out_o of_o their_o hand_n according_a to_o the_o order_n when_o yet_o these_o presbytery_n do_v not_o find_v any_o maladministration_n in_o their_o own_o act_n we_o believe_v be_v true_a enough_o but_o we_o hope_v this_o will_v be_v find_v no_o crime_n unless_o we_o make_v presbytery_n their_o own_o judge_n to_o determine_v when_o they_o be_v right_a and_o when_o wrong_a and_o disallow_v that_o synod_n take_v any_o thing_n from_o they_o either_o upon_o appeal_n or_o maladministration_n except_o they_o will_v first_o be_v please_v to_o be_v convince_v they_o have_v be_v in_o the_o wrong_n 5._o that_o synod_n though_o they_o have_v forbear_v to_o quarrel_v way_n to_o corruption_n as_o there_o they_o express_v it_o only_o we_o have_v still_o judge_v that_o when_o the_o church_n of_o scotland_n be_v no_o way_n concern_v nor_o put_v to_o it_o to_o determine_v that_o question_n who_o may_v be_v employ_v in_o state_n and_o army_n and_o see_v this_o question_n be_v not_o determine_v nor_o debate_v in_o our_o confession_n of_o faith_n and_o we_o for_o the_o common_a interest_n and_o safety_n of_o the_o nation_n and_o of_o every_o particular_a person_n and_o family_n therein_o be_v suppose_v to_o be_v concern_v in_o the_o question_n betwixt_o we_o and_o consequent_o will_v allow_v more_o to_o be_v engage_v than_o in_o a_o quarrel_n pure_o religious_a yea_o in_o such_o a_o case_n of_o common_a hazard_n and_o combustion_n they_o will_v hardly_o persuade_v rational_a christian_n but_o that_o foul_a water_n may_v very_o lawful_o be_v make_v use_n of_o to_o quench_v fire_n 2._o that_o they_o must_v bring_v better_a proof_n than_o that_o of_o the_o commission_n desire_v 1648._o to_o prove_v their_o assertion_n for_o there_o the_o engagement_n be_v unlawful_a and_o the_o war_n be_v offensive_a and_o a_o invasion_n of_o another_o nation_n to_o say_v nothing_o of_o the_o different_a condition_n and_o posture_n of_o the_o supreme_a magistrate_n in_o these_o two_o case_n and_o if_o they_o will_v grant_v that_o the_o or_o fall_v of_o this_o church_n therein_o some_o of_o this_o stuff_n be_v lay_v in_o our_o dish_n again_o with_o vehemence_n enough_o pag._n 85._o but_o we_o answ_v if_o we_o look_v to_o what_o be_v past_a and_o the_o question_n be_v put_v why_o the_o assembly_n do_v define_v and_o determine_v in_o these_o matter_n and_o make_v these_o act_n our_o reply_n will_v be_v because_o the_o thing_n determine_v and_o define_v be_v lawful_a
and_o just_a and_o they_o be_v require_v by_o the_o civil_a magistrate_n in_o a_o time_n of_o extreme_a exigencie_n to_o give_v their_o judgement_n therein_o and_o because_o public_a opposer_n of_o these_o determination_n when_o practicable_a and_o necessary_a be_v turbulent_a man_n and_o drawer_n on_o of_o the_o ruin_n of_o any_o nation_n where_o they_o live_v but_o if_o we_o turn_v to_o our_o section_n and_o turn-in_a upon_o the_o assembly_n and_o their_o determination_n therein_o for_o we_o do_v not_o think_v nor_o ever_o do_v we_o say_v that_o the_o lay_v aside_o the_o debate_n concern_v the_o resolution_n will_v be_v the_o fall_n of_o this_o church_n only_o we_o assert_v that_o their_o question_v the_o authority_n of_o these_o assembly_n upon_o the_o ground_n produce_v and_o our_o
