heb._n 13.18_o the_o charge_n of_o the_o whole_a life_n lie_v upon_o the_o conscience_n and_o the_o lord_n haâ—_n here_o a_o great_a house_n 2_o tim._n 2.20_o understand_v it_o of_o the_o world_n or_o of_o the_o church_n yet_o he_o have_v in_o it_o vessek_n of_o honour_n and_o some_o to_o dishonour_v now_o why_o do_v god_n suspend_v the_o torment_n of_o the_o devil_n it_o be_v because_o christ_n have_v much_o work_n for_o they_o to_o do_v and_o they_o will_v have_v no_o pleasure_n in_o sin_n if_o their_o torment_n be_v full_a so_o it_o be_v with_o wicked_a man_n also_o and_o therefore_o the_o lord_n have_v appoint_v a_o work_a time_n for_o conscience_n to_o perform_v its_o viatory_a office_n and_o he_o have_v a_o point_a a_o suffer_a time_n for_o conscience_n allo_fw-la and_o he_o will_v not_o torment_v they_o before_o that_o time_n three_o hereby_o the_o lord_n do_v exalt_v his_o own_o patience_n and_o long_o suffer_v so_o much_o the_o more_o for_o sin_n be_v a_o infinite_a evil_n and_o a_o man_n that_o be_v but_o dust_n to_o provoke_v god_n to_o his_o face_n and_o to_o do_v it_o the_o rather_o because_o god_n forbear_v they_o and_o sin_v the_o more_o because_o god_n forbear_v they_o and_o because_o of_o his_o patience_n because_o sentence_n be_v not_o execute_v speedy_o therefore_o the_o heart_n of_o the_o child_n of_o man_n be_v full_o set_v to_o do_v evil_a now_o that_o own_o thought_n from_o fly_v upon_o they_o it_o do_v wonderful_o set_v forth_o the_o patience_n of_o god_n the_o lord_n know_v how_o to_o reserve_v the_o wicked_a to_o the_o day_n of_o wrath_n four_o many_o thing_n here_o which_o stop_v the_o mouth_n of_o conscience_n shall_v hereafter_o be_v remove_v and_o then_o conscience_n will_v speak_v the_o worm_n of_o conscience_n be_v to_o the_o soul_n as_o they_o say_v the_o disease_n of_o the_o wolf_n be_v to_o the_o body_n if_o it_o be_v feed_v with_o something_o from_o without_o will_v eat_v the_o less_o inward_o but_o take_v away_o all_o supply_n from_o without_o and_o it_o destroy_v inward_o as_o all_o the_o good_a thing_n of_o this_o life_n will_v be_v go_v and_o then_o the_o soul_n turn_v in_o upon_o itself_o and_o will_v be_v its_o own_o tormentor_n foâ—_n ever_o rev._n 20.12_o and_o i_o see_v thâ—_n dead_a small_a and_o great_a stand_v before_o god_n and_o the_o book_n be_v openedâ—_n and_o another_o book_n be_v open_v which_o be_v the_o book_n of_o life_n and_o the_o deaâ—_n be_v judge_v out_o of_o those_o thing_n whicâ—_n be_v write_v in_o the_o book_n according_a to_o their_o work_n it_o be_v a_o allusion_n to_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n that_o be_v grant_v by_o all_o the_o book_n open_v be_v first_o the_o book_n of_o the_o law_n and_o gospel_n second_o of_o god_n omnisciency_n three_o of_o his_o decree_n four_o the_o book_n of_o conscience_n all_o those_o ancient_a record_n that_o lay_v hide_v as_o colour_n in_o the_o dark_a 2.15.16_o rom._n 2.15.16_o or_o as_o something_o that_o be_v write_v with_o the_o juice_n of_o a_o lemon_n you_o may_v read_v it_o when_o you_o bring_v it_o to_o the_o fire_n but_o not_o till_o then_o but_o we_o will_v now_o set_v forth_o those_o torment_a act_n of_o conscience_n hereafter_o which_o shall_v be_v as_o the_o gnawing_n of_o this_o never_o die_a worm_n but_o before_o we_o come_v to_o speak_v unto_o they_o particular_o it_o be_v necessary_a that_o these_o four_o thing_n be_v premise_v first_o that_o after_o this_o life_n the_o spirit_n of_o god_n shall_v come_v into_o the_o conscience_n of_o a_o wicked_a man_n as_o a_o spirit_n of_o bondage_n full_o for_o ever_o conscience_n be_v but_o a_o subordinate_a power_n and_o act_n always_o with_o reference_n to_o a_o high_a law_n as_o a_o rule_n and_o a_o high_a power_n as_o a_o judge_n it_o be_v regnum_fw-la sub_fw-la graviore_fw-la regno_fw-la and_o therefore_o it_o never_o work_v by_o itself_o
no_o more_o about_o these_o straighten_v object_n but_o about_o the_o vast_a thing_n of_o eternity_n for_o ever_o the_o thing_n of_o eternity_n pass_v knowledge_n and_o pass_v fear_n 1_o cor._n 13.12_o this_o life_n in_o grace_n be_v but_o childhood_n to_o heaven_n the_o faculty_n and_o ability_n of_o our_o soul_n be_v straighten_v so_o this_o life_n in_o sin_n and_o misery_n be_v but_o childhood_n unto_o hell_n for_o there_o shall_v the_o soul_n be_v enlarge_v for_o god_n have_v make_v the_o soul_n capable_a of_o great_a joy_n and_o great_a sorrow_n great_a blessing_n and_o great_a suffering_n than_o there_o be_v in_o this_o life_n and_o he_o will_v never_o have_v prepare_v such_o vessel_n either_o for_o wrath_n or_o glory_n but_o that_o he_o mean_v to_o fill_v they_o and_o this_o enlargement_n shall_v be_v by_o degree_n as_o he_o will_v fill_v they_o by_o degree_n and_o as_o grace_v enlarge_n and_o prepare_v the_o heart_n for_o glory_n 1.12_o col._n 1.12_o so_o do_v sin_n enlarge_v and_o prepare_v the_o heart_n for_o wrath_n and_o therefore_o they_o be_v say_v rom._n 9.23_o to_o be_v vessel_n fit_v for_o destruction_n as_o well_o as_o prepare_v for_o glory_n etc._n etc._n four_o after_o this_o life_n all_o comfortable_a affection_n and_o act_n of_o the_o soul_n shall_v have_v a_o end_n there_o be_v some_o act_n of_o soul_n that_o be_v comfort_v and_o cheer_v and_o there_o be_v some_o act_n that_o be_v afflict_v and_o torment_v the_o comfort_a act_n be_v in_o reference_n to_o good_a thing_n either_o present_a or_o to_o come_v if_o present_a the_o soul_n love_v they_o and_o rejoice_v in_o they_o and_o if_o absent_a the_o soul_n love_v they_o desire_v they_o and_o hope_n for_o they_o and_o all_o these_o do_v cheer_v the_o soul_n and_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o these_o the_o life_n of_o the_o soul_n come_v in_o but_o after_o this_o life_n all_o good_a thing_n of_o this_o life_n in_o present_a fruition_n or_o future_a reversion_n shall_v have_v a_o end_n from_o the_o creature_n all_o good_a thing_n at_o death_n shall_v take_v their_o leave_n they_o be_v but_o this_o world_n good_n and_o for_o all_o good_a thing_n from_o god_n there_o shall_v be_v none_o for_o they_o shall_v have_v judgement_n without_o mercy_n pure_a and_o utter_a darkness_n there_o shall_v not_o be_v a_o beam_n of_o light_n or_o the_o hope_n of_o any_o good_a thing_n for_o the_o soul_n to_o live_v upon_o unto_o eternity_n for_o if_o a_o man_n be_v to_o lie_v in_o hell_n a_o million_o of_o year_n and_o be_v to_o expect_v then_o a_o release_n his_o soul_n will_v live_v but_o be_v swallow_v up_o in_o eternity_n of_o misery_n without_o hope_n the_o soul_n die_v these_o affection_n shall_v still_o remain_v in_o the_o soul_n but_o because_o they_o have_v and_o afflict_v act_n in_o reference_n unto_o evil_a thing_n present_a or_o to_o come_v if_o it_o be_v present_a there_o be_v sorrow_n and_o if_o to_o come_v fear_n and_o if_o it_o be_v look_v upon_o as_o a_o insuportable_a and_o inseparable_a no_o way_n to_o escape_v it_o there_o be_v despair_v for_o ever_o now_o see_v there_o shall_v be_v the_o absence_n of_o all_o good_a at_o present_a and_o in_o hope_n and_o the_o presence_n of_o all_o evil_a and_o a_o man_n condition_n under_o it_o helpless_a and_o hopeless_a therefore_o after_o this_o life_n to_o ungodly_a man_n all_o comfort_a act_n of_o soul_n shall_v cease_v and_o all_o the_o torment_a act_n shall_v take_v place_n and_o act_n in_o their_o full_a power_n and_o vigour_n for_o ever_o now_o let_v we_o come_v to_o the_o particular_n wherein_o conscience_n do_v appear_v to_o be_v a_o worm_n after_o this_o life_n mane_o there_o be_v a_o four_o fold_v act_n of_o conscience_n and_o in_o every_o one_o of_o they_o it_o do_v hereafter_o become_v a_o worm_n first_o there_o be_v a_o act_n of_o accusation_n second_o of_o conviction_n three_o of_o condemnation_n four_o of_o execution_n the_o torment_n that_o follow_v the_o soul_n after_o all_o these_o and_o in_o these_o do_v this_o furious_a reflection_n of_o the_o soul_n upon_o itself_o consist_v first_o a_o act_n of_o accusation_n rom._n 2.15_o conscience_n accuse_v and_o excuse_v and_o this_o consist_v in_o two_o thing_n first_o a_o review_v and_o reflect_v upon_o the_o rule_n that_o a_o man_n do_v and_o shall_v have_v walk_v in_o second_o upon_o the_o unanswerableness_n of_o a_o man_n way_n unto_o this_o rule_n and_o so_o conscience_n shall_v charge_v upon_o a_o man_n all_o the_o error_n of_o his_o way_n for_o a_o accusation_n do_v suppose_v and_o lay_v down_o a_o law_n and_o then_o charge_v a_o man_n with_o the_o breach_n thereof_o there_o be_v a_o double_a book_n of_o conscience_n the_o first_o be_v a_o book_n of_o precept_n and_o rule_n second_o a_o book_n of_o practice_n first_o for_o the_o book_n of_o rule_n and_o precept_n there_o shall_v be_v manifest_v three_o thing_n after_o this_o life_n first_o there_o be_v many_o rule_n of_o duty_n that_o we_o be_v ignorant_a of_o and_o so_o there_o be_v many_o sin_n of_o ignorance_n commit_v that_o man_n know_v not_o to_o be_v a_o sin_n because_o they_o be_v unacquainted_a with_o the_o rule_n of_o duty_n for_o we_o know_v in_o part_n and_o prophecy_n in_o part_n 1_o cor._n 13._o there_o be_v a_o vail_n upon_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n in_o many_o thing_n that_o they_o know_v not_o what_o they_o do_v now_o to_o this_o end_n the_o book_n of_o law_n and_o gospel_n shall_v be_v open_v and_o thereby_o a_o man_n duty_n discover_v and_o conscience_n enlighten_v in_o those_o thing_n which_o here_o it_o never_o know_v 2.16_o rom._n 2.16_o for_o he_o will_v judge_v the_o secret_n of_o all_o man_n according_a unto_o my_o gospel_n etc._n etc._n second_o there_o be_v several_a sin_n commit_v out_o of_o error_n and_o mistake_n and_o upon_o false_a rule_n the_o lord_n will_v bring_v forth_o and_o discover_v unto_o a_o man_n all_o these_o false_a and_o erroneous_a principle_n by_o which_o he_o have_v be_v lead_v in_o his_o whole_a course_n 2.8_o john_n 16.2_o 1_o cor._n 2.8_o have_v they_o know_v it_o they_o will_v not_o have_v crucify_v the_o lord_n of_o glory_n 10.2_o rom._n 10.2_o they_o have_v a_o zeal_n but_o not_o according_a to_o knowledge_n many_o thing_n they_o do_v from_o a_o erroneous_a conscience_n now_o all_o these_o false_a principle_n that_o mislead_v a_o man_n in_o his_o way_n shall_v be_v bring_v forth_o also_o and_o the_o falsehood_n of_o they_o discover_v three_o there_o be_v many_o true_a principle_n which_o conscience_n do_v receive_v here_o from_o the_o word_n and_o the_o ministry_n thereof_o which_o be_v call_v truth_n rom._n 1.18_o who_o withhold_v the_o truth_n in_o unrighteousness_n all_o these_o rule_n in_o their_o authority_n holiness_n and_o equity_n shall_v be_v set_v before_o a_o man_n and_o how_o all_o of_o they_o be_v require_v of_o man_n for_o his_o good_a thus_o the_o book_n of_o precept_n be_v open_v and_o the_o 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d
